Over at Legal Insurrection is a post about a Canadian retailer named Simons (Quebec-based; its stores feature youth-oriented and “forward-looking” fashions), which decided to run a three-minute advertisement “glamorizing and watering down assisted suicide. . . . The ad features Jennyfer Hatch, who used ‘medical assistance in dying (MAID) after dealing with complications and chronic pain associated with her diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos syndrome’ . . . ”
You can watch the ad at the link. To my eyes, it’s spooky, and why a youth-oriented retailer thinks it would appeal to its customers beats me.
Are you planning on a final analysis on the Uvalde tragedy? It’s really dropped off the radar. Maybe it’s so painful people just want to not talk about it. Understandable.
I knew about the chimera fetus/child, but had not heard of mirror-image twins. Fascinating.
We were on the Big Island just a little over a month ago…absolutely beautiful place with the lava flows all over the island. There’s even a section between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa where it looks like the high prairie of Wyoming. So different from the much more tropical Oahu. We visited Kilauea which was steaming with a bit of lava in the caldera, and could actually hike in quite close. While there, USGS had closed the summit of Mauna Loa due to seismic activity. The locals were concerned as it seemed just a matter of time before the volcano showed it’s stuff; and sure enough.
We stayed at Waikoloa northwest of Kona, and traveling from there to Kona was fascinating to see the lava flows from just over a hundred years ago and how fresh they look. The central location of the volcano along with it’s steep sides means the lava can flow quickly in all sorts of directions from west to northeast. Let’s hope it stays contained in the summit.
It is a bit odd that a department store might like to ride this tacky wave…but hey, it’s Canada…. (where they’re, rather curiously, trying to persuade you to show how “virtuous” you are by offing yourself. Now THAT has the WTF written all over it…)
“…They occur when A PERSON just so happens to release two eggs instead of one….”
Um, OK, sure….
Got ya.

I noticed that “person” propaganda too. All the biology gets tossed aside for “Justice!”
Maybe its a bad morning but I couldn’t put up with the dialed to 11 gesticulations.
For me it’s the Revenge of the Nerd cum “Buddy Holly” look.
(I mean if one isn’t Elvis Costello, why even bother…)
OTOH, it’s an interesting topic…
It’s just “bombshell” after “bombshell”.
The minute those machines went south, you knew what was happening.
The claim, hours later that the election really wasn’t affected at all by the “glitch”—what does one call a planned, intended, contrived, concocted “glitch”? Scam? Oh, wait! Steal oughta do it—you didn’t have ANY DOUBT about it.
They’re gonna have to redo that Arizona election.
But will they?
(Heh, jes’ kiddin’…)
I guess it’s time for ’em to play the “We’re more corrupt than your wildest dreams, but it doesn’t matter a whit” card.
What am I saying? They’re ALWAYS playing that card (at least between the lines).
OTOH they could pull “a Fauci” and claim “We had to cheat! You made us do it…”
(At least that way, one might STILL be able to blame Trump…. Right?!)
More for O, Canada: A Twitter thread on how long it takes to get treatment for a one-year-old with pneumonia in Quebec. Short form: No emergency care, days to get an X-ray, and then the antibiotic is not available. Baby is going to be okay, but it was a close call. (Via Sarah Hoyt, Instapundit, last night.)
THANK YOU, NEO — for highlighting the travesty in AZ as well as signs of dissident life in China, today and over the recent holidays.
Here, I’d like to quote Jonathan Turley on the boost to popular dissidence Elon Musk has given by newly hosting a more freedom friendly Twitter.
When this singular effort was mooted last Spring, some wag said it might — more than anything else this year — save the USA from fascism.
It’s early early days. But if Turley’s numbers and tone takings are spot on, then the consequences may be bright indeed. Via Zerohedge (which appears to post header notes by Turley unseen in his syndicated column — unless I’m mistaken?):
“Since Elon Musk bought Twitter with a pledge to restore free speech protections, the media and political establishment have maintained an unrelenting campaign to use pressure from corporations and foreign governments to force him to restore censorship policies. Reporters have covered seemingly every celebrity declaring that they are leaving the site or even selling their Teslas in protest.
“As companies joined the boycott, commentators gleefully announced the “death,” “collapse,” and “demise” of the social media company with some mocking Musk’s endangerment of billions for free speech.
New figures, however, appear to show that the public is solidly with Musk on the free speech issue. New signups at Twitter are at an all-time high with two million new signups per day.
“As these companies and activists demand censorship, customers are signing up in mass to embrace the greater diversity of viewpoints and expression at the company. While companies are yielding to demands from the left that they cut off ad revenue until Musk restores censorship, users are flocking to the site.
“The over two million new sign-ups per day represent a 66% increase over the same time frame last year, according to figures released by Musk….”

Now if the Mauna Loa eruption gets too fiesty, just like Guam, the Big Island may tip over! Heard it from a Congressman?

I don’t recall whether either of you was around when I did an April Fools post about the Guam-tipping thing. I got linked all over the place and about something like 70,000 people read it, and a lot of them believed it. I had to issue a disclaimer. If you want to take a look, this is the original post, and this is what I wrote the next day.
neo, thanks for the look-back. I’m pretty sure I remember your dual 2010 posts.
I see no reason to fancy that Rep. Johnson was offering a bit of levity. His serious demeanor, the labored lead-in, all point to the guy having a really doofus moment.

Maybe Simon’s thinks it’ll become the latest fad (once the kids get tired of trans-gendering)…and the store wants to get in on the ground floor.

Rules and laws are for you but not for he.
This sequence alone didn’t strip the ADL of its moral authority, but it’s a good case in point:
>Elon Musk buys Twitter.
>ADL makes a deal with him to not attack advertisers if he establishes a safety council.
>Elon Musk, having not yet unbanned anyone, deletes the child porn trading hashtags.
>ADL breaks deal, demanding advertiser boycott and delisting from App store.
As Elon pointed out, the ADL was part of a large coalition of political/social activist groups that broke the deal that led to his mass unbanning countermove.
