Now “women” is a forbidden word at women’s college Mount Holyoke — 31 Comments

  1. Women “=” (congruent) neo-women, and they know that is insufficient to force normalization. At least transgender/homosexual women exhibit the feminine (i.e. gendered) physical traits, which have first-order relevance to human perception than feminine mental traits (e.g. sexual orientation). That said, I’m sure they will discover something at the twilight fringe (a.k.a. “penumbra”) that will relieve their cognitive dissonance.

  2. How can Mount Holyoke limit what genders they accept now?

Sure, they can forbid biologic males who identify as men from going there, but what do they do with the following scenarios:

    1) biologic men who identify as women
    2) biologic women who identify as men
    3) biologic men who are “gender fluid”

  3. What about honorifics?

“You will henthforth refer to me ath your magnifithanth, with a thlight bow of your head.”

  4. I caught up wth an old friend yesterday who I hadn’t seen in a while because he has a job that requires him to be on the very left coast during the week, or as he described it, he’s bicoastal. I kidded him that he has a new gender.

After reading this article, I realized that my friend had inadvertantly solved the problem, invent your own gender! Why stop at thirty two or whatever the current number is, make yourself feel really good and devise one that fits exactly who you are, one that addresses the uniqueness that is you. Better yet, why not have several that fit your different moods. If the professor refuses to address you correctly you can ask that zit be brought up on disciplinary charges in front of a committee of suitably sensitive and abled other zits, or whatever xxxx are called, to prevent offense.

  5. Again the point that seems to be consistently missed by these gender bending annoyances.

The Point: Your “need” for self-expression or “presentation” is unfortunately not satisfied by your simply going off somewhere and parading around in the clothes typical of the other sex.

What you seem to crave is audience validation for your little lunatic performance, and the affirmation of others who have no interest and reap no advantage from indulging your subjective fantasies as if they are a captive audience … or worse: as victims co-opted, or legally coerced into enabling and validating your delusions.

This is not just a question of some transvestite clown dressing up and satisfying its urges by wandering along some wilderness path in the garb of the opposite sex. It is a matter of a delusional case demanding that all other persons serve his or her delusion, at the cost of their own freedom to live within the truth.

It is a demand for public insanity: that all persons act crazy so that the truly crazy will feel at home.

  6. I think we have seen the heights to which this lunacy can rise when we see transgendered males complaining over the “injustice” that normal males will not “date” them.

What the bloody hell interest would any normal male have in dating a fake female? For what purpose, or benefit? Who, but an exquisitely lunatic narcissist would even imagine that their shoddy facade would entice anyone healthy or normally functioning.

You might as well cover a plate with dog shit and declare it spaghetti.

  7. IIRC, Winston Smith was encouraged to follow along with ‘correct thinking.’

    Now, what does 2 + 2 = ?

  8. Hmmm…2 quick questions…

1 How much does it cost per year to send a student to that school?

    2. Why would you do that?

    and an observation for free…
All employers take note & add this crazy house to your list of “Never hire graduates from there”

  9. Years ago I read a book on the psychological origins of political correctness and the author pointed out that when you become PC you have to deny reality and live in fantasy land. Now the people living in fantasy land are demanding that everybody else join them. The inmates are running the asylum.

  10. Not seeing anything here I disagree with … and DNW’s comments tie in quite nicely to the next post:
some of these people need to be institutionalized, and not in a University.

That said, I would not have minded a little bit more social flexibility in my youth, being a person who is biologically A but psychologically more B (per the normed distributions), but without being crazy enough to believe that “made” me “really B” — sometimes we just need people to realize that norms may be reflected in stereotypes, but most of the people on the ends of the bell curve are not necessarily looking to alter the biology conform to the personality, or vice versa.
We just want people to leave us alone.
    AND that said,

I stand with Peterson on the forced conformity laws.

  11. Suicide rate of white boys have gone up 70%
Suicide rate of black boys has gone up 77%

However the latter is half the former which is 400% higher than grrrls

the more and more feminism dominates the more of this there is… from puzzles for the stressed out (women, as men dont need puzzles unless they too are women)… racialism with the feminist who unpacked the knapsack, and more

and ALL of it having the most harmful parts increased compared to the time when the soviets had the same thing and stopped that and the harm, while pushing what was harmful here..

Do note that when its the girls, its a crisis of girls
when its the boys, its lumped together with other info
so its not bad, but really who cares?
or they decide to ignore the boys, and report on girls
which isnt what the study was revealing!! (since 2006)

Get ready – the 2018 White Privilege Conference is coming!
the title of the early May confab is a bit more grandiose: “White Privilege Conference Global – Toronto.” It will be held at the city’s Ryerson University.

    Featured speakers include:
UC Berkeley’s john powell, (yes, lower case) former director of Ohio State’s Kirwan Institute which is known as a national leader “on research and scholarship related to race, structural racism, racialized space and opportunity.”
[so you know its a job works program, they wont put themselves out of work not finding what they were created to find… the germans did similar, and i can even show you copying them… but been trying to show that for 10 years]

Rinaldo Walcott, director of the University of Toronto’s Women’s and Gender Studies Intitute whose research is “founded in a philosophical orientation that is concerned with the ways in which coloniality shapes human relations across social and cultural time.”

When the University of Pennsylvania Law School banned a professor from teaching first-year classes for controversial remarks about black students, it said she made false claims about their performance.

ALL of this comes from left progressive modern feminism..
ALL of it… i can give you the key name in EACH item

Allow me to womansplain the problem with gendered language

  12. your finding out how the Nazis got the good germans to get rid of the people they targeted… just so thye would not be targeted themselves

Allow me to womansplain the problem with gendered language

She is a #Girlboss. She is a mumtrepreneur. She is a SheEO. He is a manterrupter. A mansplainer. A manspreader. He is always bropropriating women’s ideas. She is a feminazi. He’s got a dadbod and the man flu. What is it with the growing popularity of overtly gendered neologisms? From chick flicks to dick pics, from boss babes to guyliner, there has been a proliferation of his or hers portmanteaux.

Much of this is feminism’s fault, naturally. There has been more scrutiny of everyday sexism; words such as manspreading and manterrupting simply give a name to behaviour that was taken for granted before. There has also been more discussion of women in the workplace, leading to a rise in supposedly empowering labels such as girlboss, a term popularised by Sophia Amoruso, the founder of online retailer Nasty Gal. In 2014, Amoruso wrote a bestselling memoir/self-help book for entrepreneurially minded millennial women called #GIRLBOSS and the word entered the popular vernacular

and everyone is afraid to dress up in culture costumes and all that…

    but us LATVIANS have expericne..

This is socialism/communism destroying the old culture to put in whatever it wanted… its why trostky invented the term racist for slavic who liked being slavic, etc..

    we got it back
this year is the 100th anniversary of the singing festival
after the singing war which we took our music and culture BACK

this is why the sattelite states of russia are noton board, they were part of the plan before they escaped and now dont want anything ot do with it, nor can they explain it wihtout being hated by the people who had 40 years of preparatory beliefs handed them

Language reflects and reinforces social norms; ungendering language is an important part of solving sexism. And there has been some progress. As you might expect, much of this emanates from Sweden. In the 1990s, there was consternation among Swedes that there was a colloquial, non-sexual word for penis (“snopp”) but no female equivalent; a discrepancy with ramifications on how children view and learn about their body. So Anna Kosztovics, a social worker from Malmé¶, coined “snippa” in 2000 and started promoting it. The government encouraged her efforts. Apparently, nursery school teachers were encouraged to put up notes on their doors asking: “Have you said snippa today?” Snippa entered the Swedish dictionary in 2006 and is now widely used.

so if you snippa a snopp you get a snippa?

so if you dont like this, dont blame men
men never did this kind of thing to language, we didnt tear down traditions without knowing why they existed and we certainly didnt value the opinion and ideas of people outside the family over our own families…

Perhaps the most success around fixing semantic sexism has been had by the increase of “they” being used as a singular pronoun. People have grappled with English’s lack of a gender-neutral personal pronoun for centuries, often falling back on they. Chaucer and Shakespeare used they as a singular pronoun. Jane Austen uses they in this way 75 times in Pride and Prejudice. However, it is only recently that its use has become commonplace. They was named word of the year in 2015 by the American Dialect Society and, around the same time, the Washington Post style guide ratified the use of “they” as a singular.

We are more aware of the problems of gendered language than ever and, as the use of the singular they demonstrates, we are taking steps to fix it. At the same time, however, we seem to be creating a new gendering of language as the popularity of words such as mansplain and girlboss demonstrate. And that looks set to continue. On Friday, Girlboss, the show based on Amoruso’s life debuted, further reinforcing the word’s place in the vernacular. Girlboss may be one big step for one particular woman, but it is not a giant linguistic leap for womankind.

  13. various types of disrespect,” such as “professors who mispronounce their names, call them by the wrong name entirely – NOW I know why I had problems with HS math. As you can see my name is “Lynn” and what you can’t see is that I am male, always have been and will always will be (I am 71). On the first day in a new HS as a Junior, the teacher said he knew everyone in the class (they all started kindergarten together evidently) he ask “is Miss Lynn H here”. 15 and at a new school. Oh the trauma.

  14. Proving once again that human evolution stopped around 1970 =/- 5 and we are now in devolution.

  15. And let’s all go read that Rod Dreher piece about the 17 year old trans who was receiving every support to make the shift & still committed suicide…and how bloody many trans-messed up folks kill themselves post-transition.

If the left really loved children they’d support more psychiatric help to help them be who they were born being.

  16. @Artfldgr: Sophia Amoruso

In interviews with Jezebel, eight former employees, some of whom departed quite recently, described a place that besides the three rounds of mass layoffs in the last year alone, besides losing many of its most devoted employees, has shed all of the perks that made it such a sought-after job: free lunches, snacks, micro-brew coffee, wine nights, the “team-building” trips to Disneyland. They say the atmosphere is increasingly poisonous and the company’s brand muddled, as bigwigs from places like JC Penney and Urban Outfitters and Barney’s start coming in and pulling the company in every direction.

In the meantime, they say, it’s been galling to watch Amoruso flogging #GIRLBOSS and watching business journalists eat up her tales of being, as Business Insider put it in a breathless story, “a different kind of role model for millennial women: a woman who can be comfortable with herself–in whatever form that may be.”…

Adding to the company’s toxicity, two lawsuits alleges that Nasty Gal fired multiple pregnant employees either before or during their parental leave, and an employee with a serious illness who was awaiting an organ transplant.

  17. OMG. I went to Mt. Holyoke for part of my college career, long years ago when it hadn’t yet occurred to people to question the gender distinction between men and women. I remember being specifically taught that we should think of ourselves as Mt. Holyoke women, NOT as girls. I had professors who certainly would have stood up against this craziness. I also had several openly Republican professors (in the political science department, where it was relevant to discuss one’s party affiliation — the professors didn’t do that often, back then, in other departments.) They were very smart and sophisticated indeed, and very good at their jobs, which they defined as provoking us to think rather than controlling what we thought. I was a liberal back then, as was almost everyone I knew, but those professors said a few intriguing things that raised questions in my mind that stayed with me and, and, many years later, contributed to the cracking-open of my own ideas that led to my political change. In other words, they educated me — an advantage that, it’s clear, today’s MHC students-not-women do not have.

  18. One more thing. I used to wonder whether maybe I would have been happy as a college professor, as I enjoy teaching and I’d love to have the time to think and write about the subjects that interest me, not to mention getting paid to do that. But now — given what’s happened to the universities, I don’t wonder any more. I’m very glad indeed that I dodged that bullet.

  19. my emphasis;
“many students spend the first day of class braced against various types of disrespect,”

such as “professors who mispronounce their names, call them by the wrong name entirely, misgender them

So on the first day, upon first meeting these students snowflakes… its disrespectful to mistakenly mispronounce a new name? Disrespectful to mistakenly call them by the wrong name? Disrespectful to fail to identify which of the 31-51 ‘genders’ each individual student embraces on that particular day?

“It is a demand for public insanity: that all persons act crazy so that the truly crazy will feel at home.” DNW

    Bingo.

    Ray @ 2:29,

All on the left, to one degree or another are in denial of reality and live in a fantasy land. They all suffer from some degree of mental dysfunction.

“I think we have seen the heights to which this lunacy can rise when we see transgendered males complaining over the “injustice” that normal males will not “date” them.” DNW

But that that were true. “Elbert Hubbard
Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped.”
    Elbert Hubbard
Even more so for the lunatic, as lunacy has no limitation whatsoever…

  20. I’m so glad my last child has graduated college. The social justice/intersectionality mandate grows stronger with each passing year. A co-worker’s daughter has been applying to colleges and the choice of personal essays ALL demand that you show that you are either oppressed, or show how you have personally shown your commitment to social justice and helped the oppressed. You will not be able to get into a selective school without parroting the exact narrative and spending your extracurricular time digging wells for the homeless or whatever. I find it really chilling—you will be MADE to care. Most kids today need that college degree to succeed, and the Left has a firm grasp on that certificate. Given the essay questions, I don’t see how you can have any hope of being admitted to a top school if you were to write an excellent essay that extols libertarian or conservative values.

One of my best friends in grade school was a male Lynn; it seems to have shifted over completely now.
Good thing you weren’t named Evelyn or Beverly or Shirley.

I wonder what the Mt Holyokers would do with a descendant of Wodehouse’s Psmith family?

  22. Things are seriously wrong in Canada if one can get jailed for speech.

And don’t get me started on intersectionality.

  23. Aesop:

A Honoria Glossop or Hermione Bostock would just not fit in? Are they all Madeline Bassetts?

  24. I suspect many Professors will merely stop addressing their students at all, by any name or pronoun. That will be the safest thing to do, in the circumstances.

Most of my professors didn’t know my name, and never spoke to me. That was just fine by me. I was there to learn, not be babied.

  25. Just replace “women” with “it”, “them”, “those”, or “they”. For the possessive, use “their”.

    Their college Mount Holyoke

  26. Hangtown Bob:

Nope, that won’t work at all. It is my understanding that plural gender-neutral pronouns such as “they” are preferred by certain people who don’t identify with either gender but identify with both and/or neither—“gender nonconforming” people.

  27. I think you are correct Chester Draws, names will soon be a thing of the past in the classroom. When I was in college, oh so many years ago, my history professor, a retired career Navy man, referred to everyone by their last name. Thus, I was, simply “Walsh!”. He also had a habit of creating group nicknames for students he understood to be friends, so my buddies Harrington, Fitzgerald, and I became the “Irish Mafia”. I suspect he’d be in jail these days.

Do you suppose there are some professors at these schools that read these memos and say, either out loud or to themselves, for heaven’s sake, can’t i just teach mathematics (or english or physics) and call it a day?

  28. Suicidal mainstream American culture isn’t going to be saved by Victory Trum.

I already said so right after Trum was selected for the slot.

People had about the same response as back when I asked them to come up with a solution to the Left stealing elections. Absolute Silence.
