There once was a candidate named Barack Obama.
He was a breath of fresh air. He promised a lot of things. He promised hope and change.
And he promised this:
That was from a speech that candidate Obama made at AIPAC on June 4, 2008. The transcript can be found here, along with the following background:
The speech comes the day after he secured enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination and become the first African-American candidate for president. In these prepared remarks provided by his campaign, Obama tries to allay doubts that some Jewish voters have expressed about his candidacy.
A relevant excerpt, designed to soothe the worries of those Jewish voters:
Let me be clear. Israel’s security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper ”” but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.
I have no illusions that this will be easy. It will require difficult decisions on both sides. But Israel is strong enough to achieve peace, if it has partners who are committed to the goal. Most Israelis and Palestinians want peace, and we must strengthen their hand. The United States must be a strong and consistent partner in this process ”” not to force concessions, but to help committed partners avoid stalemate and the kind of vacuums that are filled by violence. That’s what I commit to do as president of the United States.
[ADDENDUM: The above is relevant because of this quote from Kerry’s speech: “Jerusalem should be the internationally recognized capital of the two states” (Israel and Palestine, in a 2-state solution).
That runs counter to Obama’s 2008 promise and his “commitment,” and represents a statement that appears to be in agreement with the official UN position:
United Nations General Assembly resolution 181, passed on November 29, 1947, provided for the full territorial internationalisation of Jerusalem: “The City of Jerusalem shall be established as a corpus separatum under a special international regime and shall be administered by the United Nations.” This position was restated in the wake of the 1948 Arab”“Israeli War in UN General Assembly Resolution 303(IV) of 1949. According to a 1979 report prepared for and under the guidance of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, it would appear that the United Nations has maintained the principle that the legal status of Jerusalem is that of a corpus separatum.
The United Nations General Assembly does not recognize Israel’s proclamation of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which is, for example, reflected in the wording of General Assembly Resolution 63/30 of 2009 which states that “any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever, and calls upon Israel to cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.”
Although the General Assembly cannot pass legally binding resolutions over international issues, the United Nations Security Council, which has the authority to do so, has passed a total of six Security Council resolutions on Israel on the matter, including UNSC resolution 478 which affirmed that the enactment of the 1980 Basic Jerusalem Law declaring unified Jerusalem as Israel’s “eternal and indivisible” capital, was a violation of international law.]
Samantha Powers was the tell. Anybody who believed what Obama said about Israel was just gullible beyond belief.
Also Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Yet people like Martin Peretz and Alan Dershowitz still vouched for him. Peretz woke up very quickly during Obama’s first term, but Dershowitz actually voted for him twice and encouraged others to do so.
He is ( soon to be was ) an elected political office holder.

One can only hope the lies being told are to placate the other guys.

It would appear that Obama likes Muslims more than Jews. Plus, he has the ability to lie with great apparent sincerity.
Because most historians are lefties, Obama may never be exposed.

Every Obama promise came with an expiration date. This date was simply further out than most.

Guess he evolved on that issue, too.
For Obama, truth is fungible, a resource to be used to gain him something. He just plain does not perceive it as you or I do.
This will lower costs.

Wasn’t that suppose to be Trans-Jordan? But, that wasn’t enough!
Perhaps (and I say this somewhat facetiously) the solution to Middle East peace would be what our mother did when we kids would argue over how to split the last piece of cake – one kid slices and the other kid gets to choose first.
However, the only problem with ANY solution is that some will NEVER be satisfied until Israel no longer exists.
As for Obama’s “promises”? Well, he got his education in that bigot’s church for 20 years. Make promises but never be satisfied until the other is gone.
Now, Obama is trying to muck things up for Trump’s administration. Sort of a spoiled brat’s mentality of “if I can’t have it, neither can you!”
Ever since I learned about the Rashid Khalidi tape, I’ve assumed it told us something about Obama we weren’t supposed to know.
And I became absolutely certain of that when the participants did not ask the LA Times to release it.
On a more general point, one that I made at my site some time ago: How is anyone supposed to make peace with the Palestinians when Hamas and the PLO can’t even make peace with each other?
Now, if someone wants to propose a three state solution, I’ll listen to that, though not with much optimism.

Had Hillary Clinton won the Pres. I would agree that war was coming. Now, I think its in doubt. The Iranians and Russians both have to be careful now with a wildcard coming into the White House. They cannot just play their normal cats paw games with Syria and Egypt as the big threats they used to be, and the PLO as shock troops. They are shadows of their former selves.
Again I say put it on Israel. The next time they get provoked with an act of war by the so called Palestinian state, tell Israel to crush them hard or lose support.
You have to set a new paradigm. It needs to be blunt and forceful if you want to save lives over the long run. The world has lost patience with this issue finally, on both sides.
You must show the Obamas and Kerry’s of the world that, yes, your two state solution can be tossed out if you want to continue to behave like 2 year olds. Show them a world with no two state solution on the horizon at all, they will get nice real fast.
That is all these folks respond to. Same with Obamacare. Repeal it. Let the dems and media squall, and then say, you want to replace it? Lets negotiate. I am sick of the left never having to own their screw ups. I am done. They will never admit to being as human as the rest of us slobs until forced.
We have long assumed nearly supernatural competence on the part of Israeli intelligence. My wife and I are nearly certain that they know whether Barry and his friends used a ribbed or a smooth condom. They need to bring out everything that they have got, to stop this evil man from pushing through a recognition of a Palestinian state, by the US, and by the UN.
They have already backed us into a very tight corner. We need to stop backing up.
BTW, revelations about the O Boy’s perversions would only enhance his reputation, among those he wants to impress. Still, a snake like him has, beyond a doubt, shed some skin in some other, and worse, places.
