  1. Neo, If you would kindly take my last post down.
    Many thanks …

I can’t stand it. They bring you to their level.

    Off to the gym …

  2. g6loq:

    Thanks, will fix!

Have no idea how that happened—I certainly wasn’t reading that “50 shades” article.

Kind of funny, though, that the link was on an undercover conservative “telling her story.” Wasn’t that kind of a story.

  3. Well I kind of liked the 50 shades article as well, thanks for posting both of them, however accidentally or not.

  4. How nice was my life raising kids, politics never entered
the discussions. Instead we young mom’s discussed,
how we could raise the best possible, intelligent, curious, competent & confident youngster !
I recall a book *the first 3 years* by Dr Burton White
that was incredibly popular then & how this child rearing was a frequent topic on the Paul Benzaquin Show, back when *talky* shows covered actual relevant, informative topics unlike the *trash* given air time now.
    Another sad passing.

  5. If you can’t take the heat… the left side of the bell curve sides with the 3 monkeys… they foam at the mouth when confronted by ideas contrary to their ideology.

  6. g6loq,
That link was very refreshing. Thanks. BTW, Did you all notice how young Perry Como was?

  7. Actually, it was the 50 Shades article that led me to the “21st century closet” article in the first place. I liked the writer’s point of view and went on to read her other blog posts.

My daughter sent me the link to the 50 shades article around the time of the movie premiere. She is an RA in a college dorm and found it while seeking resources to help her make the case AGAINST seeing the movie (some of her friends, and freshmen girls on her floor, planned to see it).

I do hate the fact that my kids have to navigate a much darker cultural and political landscape these days. My daughter has already learned to keep a low profile when it comes to her socially conservative views.

  8. The already contentious debate over Indiana’s proposed “religious freedom” bill took a surreal twist Monday afternoon when – in the midst of discussion on the bill – a Democratic lawmaker said that a Republican lawmaker’s child was “scared” of her because she is black.

The comment by Rep. Vanessa Summers drew audible gasps, in no small part because the child – the son of Rep. Jud McMillin – is 18 months old.

“I told Jud McMillin I love his son, but he’s scared of me because of my color,” Summers told McMillin, who is white, during debate over the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in the House.

“It’s hard,” said Summers, D-Indianapolis. Then, as other lawmakers groaned at the comments, she followed up with, “It’s true.”

“He looked at me like I was a monster and turned around and cried. And I told him you need to introduce your child to some people that are dark-skinned so he will not be scared,” she said…

    Details here.

    TWICE!

  9. Many of my Hoosier Facebook friends are having the vapors over the Indiana RFRA bill. Many of them are people I would never have pegged as “liberal” to begin with. (One is a box of rocks who, to the great misfortune of eighteen year olds too poor to go AWAY to college and are stick at the local branch or the local tech, teaches comp at both of them. She’s an idiot, and why I have a low opinion of adjuncts) They are terribly up in arms over the sheer “evilness” of it. (One is very taken with her cleverness of creating a meme: “I will not… Blah, blah, blah, business that discriminate… blah, blah, blah…”

I seriously doubt that a single one of them having the vapors has: A) Read the law in its entirety (it’s only give pages, with a lot of white space); B) Know anything about the federal RFRA law — like that out was introduced by Schumey and signed by Billy; C) Know anything about Employment Division v. Smith; D) Know anything about City of Boerne v. Flores; or E) Know that Indiana is the TWENTIETH state to pass sick legislation since City of Boerne v. Flores. I and almost POSITIVE Meme-Girl and Adjunct-Idiot have not.

All these particular idiots know is what Jon Stewart, HRC, and the feel-good-Facebook-memes tell them.

Please note: I am NOT casting aspersions on people from the HOOSIER State; I’m only picking on the idiots having a cow over SB 568.

  10. “E) Know that Indiana is the TWENTIETH state to pass SUCH legislation since City of Boerne v. Flores.”

I wish you had as post-post edit function!!!!

  11. How did we get here?

    My thoughts:

    1. With libs, politics is not only personal but 24/7.

    2. Media loves controversy; their life blood. So they hype everything.

    3. Stakes are higher.

    4. Libs control media and academy so they have a big megaphone.

  12. Stilll at the Vineyard: Here’s one! Last night, in the common room, the Lefty women were talking about the anti-vaccination movement. One woman, mother of 3, said, “It’s the Republicans who won’t vaccinate!” [anti-science, climate change “Deniers,” morons, etc.].

Well, that just pi**ed me off. “Well, what about the fact that only 75% of San Francisco kids are vaccinated? and their parents are liberals, mostly.” Well, that wasn’t well received At All. :-)) One said, “There are a lot of gay people in SF.” I replied, “What has that got to do with what medical care the kids get? I’m telling you, it’s the people who are convinced that vaccines cause autism.”

My friend Ellen, who actually knows I “left the liberal faith” after 9-11, said grudgingly that she didn’t think it was a Rep. or Dem. thing.

Another fact I inserted into another conversation: only 2% of all white Southerners owned slaves. That amazed them. (I have quite a varied career, and let’s just say they pretty much realized I knew the history thing.)

So I’m injecting some reality into conversations here and there. I’m thinking of what Jesus told his disciples: “Be ye wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” when spreading the Word.

Praying for Israel; praying for all of us of good will, and that the others see the light.

  13. While I am not a social conservative, I feel for this woman and I empathize with her! Haha – That’s what it has come to. I get it. I actually feel more warmly for her than I do for the people who would and sometimes do hate me if they figure out what my views are. And, as for social conservatism, even saying that I think that generally people should be married before they have children raises some eyebrows. How that can be, I will never know. Seems like common sense. So this social conservative Christian and I are essentially in the same boat. I have voted Republican and for Romney, I even campaigned for him. I wonder what has brought things to this point that they are so polarized? I would never in the past, even as a lefty have dumped any real friend for politics… but it happens a lot now.

She’s right about having to be stealth I think. “Stealth” is the word trans people use, transsexual people use for not telling everyone what we refer to as our “medical history”. “Closet” is the term for gay people… Maybe it is more like being in the “closet” — meaning one is not revealing one’s true identity. Stealth always feels like one is not revealing an identity, a past — that felt untrue and that distracts from the truth… anyway…

I am the odd one out. But so is she in her world and she and I have a lot in common. Like keeping our mouths shut so otherwise decent and good friends don’t desert us and so we don’t have to be total pariahs. I don’t know how much support I would get from her socially conservative view but I do know that we have a lot now in common. Odd interesting life can be.

I do wish it were different. It’s lonely!

  14. I think her strategy is the right one though. Otherwise people won’t listen to what you have to say, when you can say it. However… it is very difficult.

  15. Liberty Wolf. I don’t think we realize how big this non-marriage thing is now. And as a lawyer I can attest that it is a huge mistake to have kids or even buy a house without being married.

Marriage is just not even on the radar for blacks. It is really, really noticeable today. All those hyphens playing in March Madness are illegitimate.

  16. Sadly, her story is not unique. So many liberals behave the way she has describe them and think they are doing nothing wrong.

They think that it is okay to marginalize someone because they think so differently; as if that person brought the hate on themselves – i.e. got what they deserved.

  17. Libs go whacko with passage of Indiana RFRA. Barkley calls on NCAA to move this year’s Final Four!

This all assumes that religious people are bigots. Astounded does not begin to describe my reaction.

  18. This article really hit home. I’ve been worn out lately. The internet is just getting nastier. This article at you-should-be-visiting-this-site The Federalist makes a good case:

    http://thefederalist.com/2015/03/26/why-is-the-angry-left-so-angry/

I honestly think the right has gotten a little angrier, but the left has gotten so angry it’s nearly impossible to talk any more. I’m not going to back down any, but man, it’s just fatiguing.

everybody is fatigued by everybody ….

..the National Union of Students (NUS) has officially banned gay white men from “appropriating black female culture.” Yes, this is a real thing that has happened.

The motion passed by the union (which is comprised of more than 600 student groups around the UK) titled “Dear White Gay Men: Stop Approprirating [sic] Black Women” states that the behavior of white gay men is “unacceptable” and “must be addressed.”

“This may be manifested in the emulation of the mannerisms, language (particularly AAVE- African American Vernacular English) and phrases that can be attributed to black women. White gay men may often assert that they are ‘strong black women’ or have an ‘inner black woman’,” the NUS motion reads.

“White gay men are the dominant demographic within the LGBT community, and they benefit from both white privilege and male privilege.”.

  20. It is very strange Cornhead, the not getting married thing. I once made a joke that soon only gay people will want to get married, but suddenly I realized it was almost true! My straight friends tell me that once gay people realize how horrible marriage is, they won’t want to get married either. It has to do with money of course and divorce. Nonetheless, I still believe that if children are involved, you need to tie the knot. I know Charles Murray would agree and his studies on how class is related to marriage rates is intriguing. White or black, or other — kids being born out of wedlock tends to lead to chaos and poverty. Sure there are exceptions but those don’t make the rule or change the trend. Unbelievable this is even a controversy and scary that people are NOT getting married.

  21. And, g6log, this whole “appropriation” thing is insane. I can’t believe how wacky it has gotten. What ever happened to the idea that imitation is a form of flattery? And, everyone “appropriates” everything one way or another, that’s just the way culture moves in the world and has for some time. Like forever…

I have white friends who won’t say “word” as in – “WORD” — because they think it is appropriation of black culture. I just don’t know what to think sometimes, the world has gone wacky!

    Here: a WORD!

  23. Liberty Wolf:

I have noticed how quickly social values and conventions seem to change, including those regarding marriage and unwed births. It is now nearly dinosaurish to be in favor of the former, except for gay people.

  24. Two minutes of hate.

Lao Tsé wrote his opus, shook the dust off of his sandals and rode out of the gates of the empire never to be seen again…. Maybe nothing palliative can be done.

Maybe, Jefferson had it right: The tree of Liberty needs be watered …

  25. Lee

This Saturday and Sunday propaganda on Indiana RFRA is like nothing I have ever seen.

The law gets misrepresented, the gays use their media megaphone and Indiana is now worse than Saudi Arabi over a law modeled on the federal law Bill Clinton signed and Obama voted for when he actually voted on something in Springfield.

    Incredible!

The worse offenders are Eli Lilly and the NCAA with their threats against the state. They know better. Their lawyers have briefed and researched RFRA and know it is neutral.

Here’s the real agenda here and Lambda Legal is probably the sub rosa force: make LGBT persons a protected class under all federal laws; just like race and religion.

Pence did a horrible job Sunday. And Charles Barkley opened his stupid mouth.

Conclusion? After Wall Street and the race lobby, the most powerful political force in America today is the 2% LGBT lobby.

  26. Religious Freedom Restoration Act is now Religious Objections Act just this morning,

Just like gay marriage became marriage equality.

    Stunning.
