Perhaps she was so preoccupied at the time with finding that American flag on Mars that she didn’t even realize she had co-sponsored the bill.

I find Representative Sheila Jackson Lee to set a new standard in combining stupidity and radical racial grievance mongering. Her election to and continuance in the House is an indication of just how dumbed down the electorate has become.
Well, the electorate of color in the city of Houston, GB. Dumbed down to the point of verging on the educatable retarded. (I was about to say dumbed down in spades, but that would be racist or something.)
Yeah, she is an incredible piece of work. Considering the other members of the CBC, I am left to wonder if every one of them is as dumb as a stump, corrupt as all get-out, incompetent at any other blessed thing besides being a race-baiting pol, and an abusive, horrible excuse for a human being.

Sheila Jackson Lee is too easy a target. For incredibly stupid statements coming from a politician, my favorite Demo is Nancy Pelosi. Also to show that Stupidity is not confined to Diversity. 🙂

The electorate of color in Houston was seriously augmented by Obama’s folks from New Orleans after Katrina. Most of them stayed in Houston, and that is a rarely written-about but very large factor in New Orleans’ improvement and recovery.
I would point out that Congresscritter Lee has degrees from Yale and University of Virginia Law School. Between this idiot and one Ms Navi Pillay* I can see we are in the very best of hands.
*She of the “not sharing Iron Dome is a war crime” stupidity.

Either Ms Lee is not as stupid as she seems, or she has suffered some kind of impairment since her academic days or degrees from these two schools don’t stand for anything anymore. Lacking further information, I would have to choose the last.
Lee’s probably going to run guns to the cartels, like her Democrat counterpart in California did with terrorist deals.

I would agree with Lurker. Anyone who passes the bar exam needs a certain amount of intellect. Considering Congresswoman Lee’s numerous examples of “misspeaking,” the conclusion is that she is at the lower end of those who pass.
Another thing working in favor of Congresswoman Lee’s making careless, unthinking statements is that once elected 20 years ago, she has been in a Congresscritter for life position. As there is little to no chance for her to get voted out of office, there is little to no incentive for her to make careful statements. Since she will get re-elected regardless of what she says, she has no incentive to avoid running her mouth.
[Given that it is a lot harder to flunk out of Yale than it is to get admitted to Yale- and it isn’t that difficult to get admitted as an AA candidate- a Yale degree can’t mean that much. Or it doesn’t mean as much as a lot of people assume it does. OTOH,the brightest person in my high school class went to Yale, so a Yale degree can’t be completely discounted.]
SJL has the Mugabe syndrome: once elected, elected for life, no further use for cognitive function, brain atrophy from disuse.
Or perhaps she has the Cornel West syndrome: aggressive self-serving blackness thrust upon obsequious-despite-their-high-stations white Ivy Leaguers.

The degree is a social members club to certain socio political circles that manipulate broad sectors of the economic or political US life. It’s sort of like how the Obamacare website was outsourced to a Harvard pal of Michelle O.
