After nearly a quarter century of global warming worry…
…it seems we’re about where we began:
If you look at the chart, you’ll see that, so far, worry about global warming peaked around 2000 and again in the years 2006-2008. I’m not sure what was happening in 2000 (Al Gore’s presidential campaign?) to cause this, but it was 2006 when his movie came out and he won an Oscar, and 2007 when he received the Nobel prize.
From the Gallup report:
Politics remain a powerful predictor of Americans’ worries about global warming, with more than half of Democrats saying they worry about it a great deal, compared with 29% of independents and 16% of Republicans…
Young Americans aged 18 to 29 are more worried about global warming than older adults, particularly those 50 and older…
Worry about global warming is not related to education in any systematic way; those with postgraduate education are no more worried than those with a high school education or less.
If I were a global warming activist (or is it an anti-global warming activist?) I’d be perturbed by the failure of my propaganda to make a long-term change in people’s point of view on this. I also know that nothing will stop global warming activists from trying. The people I know who are dedicated to this truly think we are facing Armageddon.
The people I know who are dedicated to this truly think we are facing Armageddon.
Then they truly cannot be swayed by actual and historical evidence. I know some of these people, too, and if St. Louis were being ground to dust under a mile thick glacier, they’d still be screaming about how the planet is burning up.
Soylent Green………is PEOPLE!!
truly think we are facing Armageddon.
And it won’t matter if it never arrives. The Seventh Day Adventists are still with us, after all.
I always have to say, I am an agnostic. I have no religious dog in the fight. It really doesn’t matter to me, what I am about to say, I do not believe it matters to any person alive today, other than the battering sledge hammer it is:
“Evolution” is nonsense, at least as much and probably more-so than any religious explanation for the way things are. Ask any highly intelligent person what their evidence is, and they cannot tell you. It always comes down to the appeal to authority. No one has ever particularly described speciation, nor could they.
Exactly the same, global warming or climate change or whatever the totalitarian current description or buzz-phrase, has never given more evidence than phrenology or astrology, both of which are extremely interesting, even fascinating, and persuasive in a human way.
The common denominator is the political angle, which necessarily involves the shallow egotistical angle.
The political angle of “science” was invented by Marx. It is a very appealing angle, appealing to small minds.
“and 2007 when he received the Nobel prize.”
I note the conspicuous absence of the word “earned”.
Of course, that applies even more so to Obama. He received it for being born, apparently.
They don’t “think” we facing Armageddon. They will make Armageddon happen, to wipe out humanity.
That’s what being an enemy of humanity means.
The hypocrisy lies in the fact that all these people spend their time and energy bullying others. If they were serious they would be using their own time and money to insulate houses for others or trying to make stay-at-home activities more popular than attending climate conferences in the Carribean. They might study engineering so the could tweek the energy efficiency of appliances. But who pays attention to the faceless people who do such things? If you need an ego boost you have to be an ignorant bully.
Every time I walk the dogs at night and (rarely) see a house where every room on every floor is illuminated I know I am walking by a house where belief in AGW is firmly rooted. Personally, we are stingy when it comes to our electrical bill, if you’re not in the room, the lights are off.
Young Americans aged 18 to 29 are more worried about global warming than older adults, particularly those 50 and older…
That tells me that the propaganda is working. I’ll bet there are similar results for gay marriage.
Parker, motion detectors hooked up to lights are really good at that.
Especially when you attach them to rigged flash bangs and flood lights outdoors covering the approach angles to the home.
No one has ever particularly described speciation, nor could they.
Tona, real scientists would be demonstrating evidence and experiments with their theory. Fake ones merely rely upon pet data, fake experiments, and authority.
While creating a new species wouldn’t kill the God argument, it would make it a lot more likely that evolution can be done without divine levels of power.
