  1. Hard to say. The Democrats (progressives) own the Media Narrative. Many of us here think this Narrative is disassociated from reality. Reality eventually wins, and so the the conceptual house of cards is likely to collapse or implode with astounding suddenness.

    Benghazi
    Gosnell
Nork nuclear armed missiles aimed at Hawaii
    Egyptian collapse
    Chechen bombers in Boston
    Rising health care insurance costs
Increasing general inflation (and yes, it is increasing)

At some point, the swing voters can’t rationalize it all away, and lose confidence. That’s what happened in Britain in the 70’s before Thatcher came in.

Will it happen? That’s harder to predict. After all, Eric Holder is still AG, in spite of everything, and Occam’s Beard still owes me $20. OB, I hereby offer to let you settle by putting 20 bucks in neo’s tip jar.

  2. Do not underestimate the Republicans’ proclivity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They don’t call ’em the Stupid Party for nuthin’.

(And do not underestimate the Democats’ appetite for, and ability to, capture the graveyard and illegal vote.)

  3. I’m rather pessimistic about the Republican’s chances in 2014. I see little that they are doing that would change that assessment.

Which leads me to the conclusion that the Republicans will be doing well in the 2014 elections just to hold on to what they have…

Obama, the MSM and the left are busy selling the American public on the meme that Republicans are obstructionists, who are responsible for preventing Obama and the left from implementing ‘progressive’ solutions to our problems.

Given that they have already successfully sold the meme to that same public that conservatives and Republicans are reactionary, racist, greedy, selfish and fundamentalist bigots…blaming Republicans for ANYTHING that goes wrong is an easy sell.

The left has spent the last half century turning enough of the American public into low information voters. Low information voters are lemmings and lemmings are easily led into the promised land of the nanny state.

  4. Taxes have gone up already this year.
We must point that out (remind). It’s already been noticed the first of the year.
Obamacare is shaping up and hurting people.
It’s a fight against the media as pointed out, but we (anybody opposed to Obama and fascism) could win.

  5. Well, on one hand, a friend of mine in her 60s, a blue-collar NY union democrat who cannot conceive of ever voting for a republican, exclaimed just two weeks ago, “They’re turning this country COMMUNIST!”

This was without any prompting from me (she knows I’m sorta contrarian, but hasn’t asked me about it).

She was outraged that the government goobers are telling us what to do every minute, and was even angry they’re trying to confiscate our guns.

HOWEVER. She still thinks Obama is “trying his best, that poor guy — no wonder the jerks in Washington resent him.” NO blame, in her mind, attaches to the guy in charge. I said, with some exasperation, “But V., he’s in charge of that town! And his party is in charge of the Senate! how can he NOT be responsible for what’s happening on his watch?”

Here comes the other hand: she almost crouched, and looked at me with her face twisted in disbelief, “Who would you vote for? that other one?!” As if she were referring to a Frankenstein monster, or something. It was clear she’d bought into all the demonization by the media et al.

She’s a classic low-info voter: no computer or internet access, never reads news magazines; just watches network TV news (no cable). But she believes, because the Propaganda Machine is so effective, that the Republicans are, well, monstrous.

AND: the Vichy Republicans are definitely NOT an opposition party, at least not in the ballsy sense we need. They live in that defensive crouch. I’ve been to some conservative meetups in New York City this past year, and I’ve met some of the players. Whenever I ask one of them why he’s accommodating/appeasing the left (though I don’t put it that baldly), they go into a rehearsed spiel justifying their spineless, and I walk away thinking, “Oh, man, he’s jivin’ me again.”

Rubio on Amnesty; Gov. Otter of Idaho on Obamacare; and there are so many more.

  6. Addendum: In New York City on Thursday night, a wild melee erupted as the NYPD arrests a muslim for attacking a Jew on the subway train: you have to see this video to believe it:

Watch the whole thing, and for God’s sake stay off the 3 train in Brooklyn; this is scary as hell.

I kept thinking, this is the result of the Left’s decades of relentless incitement of these people.

  7. The Left owns a lot more than the media in this country.

Hollywood actors, production companies, directors, workers.

Unions, private and state, police, TSA, SEIU, teachers.

    93% of DC patronized inhabitants.

    Super majority of blacks, jews.

Inner cities owned by Democrat aristocrats as their fiefs: Detroit, New Orleans, several parts of Atlanta, Chicago, etc.

    The list continues on.

When one attempts to defeat one aspect of the Leftist alliance, their allies defend and regenerate the injured member. There is no way to take them apart piecemeal given their regenerative abilities.

  8. Given the overwhelming power of the Left in cultural and political and economic spheres of this country, a lot of Republicans are faced with a difficult question much as Beverly’s friend was. What other choice do they have than to go with the devil they know, for the other path is unknown and completely dark.

It’s mostly dark because one has not learned to hate the Left enough to take it. Slavery and oppression is always easier to live in, when one merely seeks to survive. When they take even that away from people, then people will finally know, in their dying moments, what they should have done all along.

  9. “Reality eventually wins, and so the the conceptual house of cards is likely to collapse or implode with astounding suddenness.”

North Korea hasn’t collapsed yet even though they have run out of other people’s food and money in that state of theirs.

Yet people expect the US superpower to collapse sooner?

It’s not going to happen. That’s not how Slave Empires work.

Sad to say it, but at this point in time, no amount of politics will fix the problem. It’s gone beyond the stage where people could fix it using something as easy as politics.

It no longer matters what people believe or don’t believe in the US. They aren’t the ones making the decisions any more.

Neither Thatcher nor Reagan permanently fixed anything about the Left. The threat still remained, growing larger by the year. They merely delayed what comes to be the inevitable fate: civil war.
