More information on the Boston bombs — 25 Comments

  1. Who ever fabricated these evils certainly worked according to the AQ style sheet.

It may yet turn out to have a Gitmo ‘connection.’

While only a back-story in America, the Gitmo crowd is a celebrated cause in Pakistan.

It’s passing strange that a crew that proclaims that they’re willing to die for Allah is unwilling to live the ultimate Cuban lifestyle: catered meals, Caribbean climate, absolute personal safety — one’s only worry being gaining weight.

(This latter point was probably the inspiration for the water only diet. Pudgy inmates made for bad press back home where everyone is chasing crumbs. The Arab Spring consisting of food riots, for the most part.)

  2. I keep having this uneasy feeling that it’s going to turn out to be some right-wing or right-wing-ish nut, which would really crank up the left-wing hate. I really hope I’m wrong.

  3. @Mac – a right wing nutter probably wouldn’t go after his own people, even if they’re misguided SWPL types, of which marathon-type events are full up. Marathon running is an even whiter sport than golf.

If it does turn out to be another “religion of peace” wacko, expect to hear more from our political betters about how we shouldn’t judge all of them for the actions of a few. Then expect those betters to continue to agitate for the disarming of sensible people because of Adam Lanza.

  4. I find this to be an interesting comment in the NY Times:”Along with having few investigative leads, the official said that the investigation had been hampered, in part, by the fact that no terrorist group had claimed responsibility for the attack. ”
After listening last night to reassurances by experts on all sides; that is the bomb fragments would be filled with clues and fingerprints and contain many, many “serial numbers”, (a Greta Vansustern gem) this is quite a contradiction — Unless they know who to look for in the first place, it’s not a simple task to find a bomber. Also a contradiction from the narrative that was ongoing on most channels — that the evidence would lead them to the suspect, and the investigations were being carried out without any preconceived thought about who might be responsible. I don’t know if that is good or bad, but the contradictions in public statements by FBI investigators about procedure, make me wonder how they really approach investigations, and how these different approaches effect their outcome.
I do hope it’s not another McVeigh. The media wants this to be a “right wing nut” so badly, the fallout for anybody with a conservative viewpoint will be relentless. If it turns out to be a jihadi, the lectures to “not paint all Muslims with the same brush” will be frequent, ongoing, and unneccessary; if it’s a home grown nut, the whole republican party will be to blame.

  5. My suspicion, as I said in a previous thread, is the culprit is a crazy with a killing fantasy and wants to make the world dance to his tune. Except anonymous hacker style rather than murder-suicide blaze of glory style. If that’s the case, the crazy may or may not tack on a political reason like other murderous crazies have had their manifestos, but it would just be an excuse.

  6. What the leftists, who don’t believe there really has been a lack of coverage on the Gosnell trial, are saying:

Much has been said about the media surmising conservative suspects …but what’s really happening and why is the media struggling to give us a clear picture?

  7. I have serious doubts that the bomber(s) is a member of the American far right or far left. The far right bombs government installations or abortion clinics. The far left bombs government installations and banks or sends letter bombs to the officials of government or corporations. 5 will get you 10 Boston is the work of a foreign national of the jihadi persuasion.

  8. It is interesting to note that the Gosnell trial was finally starting to get some coverage in the national media–and then this.

I’m not saying that there’s any kind of connection, but I can’t help noticing.

  9. Or the killer is not a member of any political group, unless you consider Holmes, Loughner, Lanza, Cho, Harris and Klebold, etc, a distinct political group.

The Columbine killers tried to explosives but they didn’t go off. Holmes meant to blow up his apartment building; what if he had led his ambush with explosives rather than guns?

Mass murdering crazies look for crowds because they want volume. The Boston Marathon provided a crowd.

  10. There’s another possibility that hasn’t been discussed much: A false-flag “Reichstag fire” type attack.

Some will object that that idea smacks of 9/11 Trutherism. And it does.

Except… The left always uses projection. They constantly accuse their political opponents of doing the very things they themselves do whenever they have the chance. Racism, suppressing dissent, stolen elections, totalitarianism, etc. Hell, leftists routinely call conservatives fascists even though fascism is purely of the left. The word has been used as an epithet for so long that it’s lost all meaning. Yet Obama is a textbook fascist.

And the Reichstag fire really was a false-flag attack, which the Nazis used to consolidate their power. I absolutely believe that Obama and his cronies are capable of something similar.

I’ve been predicting civil war since 2008, but the indiscriminate massacre of innocents is not a tactic that anybody with a righteous cause would pursue. The worst-case scenario as I see it would be some knucklehead who thinks he’s on our side. That would be the incident that I believe the left has been trying to provoke all along, which would give them an excuse for a real crackdown.

  11. I agree with Parker’s logic.

The Left becomes a bit hysterical with talk of a “tax day” connection and so forth. If it were an IRS center, or a political target, that might make some sense.

The only scenario that makes sense to me is a foreign terrorist, or a genuine homicidal nut who doesn’t care who he (dare I say or she?) targets.

Speaking of hysterical rants; we have Steny Hoyer, who is certifiable, blaming sequestration. Then Barney Frank just had to show his rear end. Ugh!

  12. Marathon running is an even whiter sport than golf…

Except at the front of the pack. East Africans win more often than not.

As far “right-wing extremists” bombing sporting events goes, let’s not forget Olympic Park Bomber Eric Rudolph. Even though the neo-Nazi Christian Identity movement to which Rudolph belonged has less in common with American political conservatism than it does with the back of the moon, the MSM loves to tar all of us who might have right-of-center views with that same brush. If someone like Rudolph ends up a prime suspect, it’ll happen again.

  13. @rickl,

I doubt any connection between Gosnell and this, but I absolutely believe that there are plenty of ghoulish “journalists” who are delighted at the distraction.

But the timing was not geared to take out the elite front runners; rather the explosions occurred when the bulk of the runners were approaching the finish…and the largest crowd was gathered to watch them. The injured and killed were family members and friends there to cheer on their “ordinary runner” loved ones.

I have no idea nor sense if this is homegrown or imported evil, I just hope he/they are caught before they do something else even worse. And I shudder at how the media is already using it.

  15. rickl:

I’ve expected a “Reichstag Fire” event of some sort for quite some time. I think these wizards have been conducting sort of mini-Reichstag Fire events in abundance. The only question I have is whether they’re actually false flags or whether the wizards are just very alert and effective opportunists–or some combination of the two; my understanding of the actual Reichstag Fire is that it is to this day unclear which was the case; the outcome, however, was quite clear.

I thought maybe we were going to see some kind of explosion over Trayvon Martin, and indeed it’s still simmering in some quarters and could yet explode. Questions linger about the Newtown school shootings, I’ve even seen some speculation that they didn’t actually happen and were instead a put-up job, complete with pretty successful cover afterwards. Boston certainly has overtones of several possibilities. My gut says it was Islamic terrorism, but Islamists’ methods are pretty well-known by now and shouldn’t be difficult for a determined cohort to mimic.

I also think the Left and the radical Islamists are allies of convenience with a mutual enemy: Free people. If they manage to defeat us, they will then dissolve their alliance and proceed to fight each other over the wreckage.

Because there can be only one.

  16. They had a “person of interest” in custody on Monday afternoon, they raided his apartment and took out nine trash bags full of evidence, then Kerry met with the Saudi ambassador behind closed doors, and suddenly the “person of interest” transformed into a “cooperative witness”. Now the trail is “cold”.

Methinks they had the person or one of the persons responsible and he (and the Saudi ambassador) cut a deal (maybe for some intelligence about future attacks) in order to keep the sterling name of Islam out of the picture.

  17. Times square was a propane tank
And the news always conflates fire crackers which have very tiny amounts of aluminum flash powder in them with cherry bombs which are about 1/8 a stick of dynamite
The bbq tanks failed to blow because ghe did not rupture.
They did not rupture because they did not know to include one part that would have changed the dynamic….

I mentioned this type in the other thread…

The beauty of using a pressure cooker is its easier n less suspicious than small sections of pipe, less dangerous for the maker, hole is premade, and will contain the pressure to maximize the shock wave differential….

Placed kn tge ground the ground magnifies the blast by causing a low level shearing wave… the power, despite what we are looking at, is low. A blast force diminishes quite fast, and no one died due to organs shredded by shock wave sheer, even standing almost next to it…

If there were fewer people so close, the carnage would have been greater. The people standing close blocked huge swaths of the material. Note that this kind of thing works best by placing outside the crowd, not deep in it. This is why its back by the wall. It maximizes the spread before contact n before deceleration.

The device is akin to what used to be calledca bouncing betty….but cruder…

Sadly, most ppl think such devices are to kill. They are not. Just look at the numbers. Everyone mostly focuses on dead. With politicians hacking up the emotional response so that irrational thjnking provides them power for a non fix

War devices since wwi are designed to maim not kill
A maimed person is a resource drag and a emotional cut out for years and years….

So if you get on the emote bandwangon n focus onvictims yiurcompleting the circuit that is required for the maiming to have its emotional effect
The more the women get into their hanoi jane roll n dont get it the more effective the operation is

This doubles the desire ti hurt n maimchildren foe maximum psychological guerrilla warfare (even if its a kne man nutto)

Of course the person feeding the beast has some personal reason to help, which includes why helping is not helping but someghing else….

Bathing in the misery for weeks is the whole tactical point
And femknist culture norms bathing in the misery of millions and selfishness to induce a power transfer to the people making them squeel like stuck pigs

A social form of normalizing stockholme syndrome where they refuse to fight and instead try to ingratiate themselves by helping the attackers… personal psychology demands that if not complicit, they must personalize it and justify it to make it not so.

    Its interesting to watch….
But lack of knowing or a higher framework has a person just doing whats instinctual and customary (given its comforting), making them easy to sxploit, control, n divide

    How should u act?
What should u focus on? (For what outcome)
When will our ladies emotive capitol be used up and worndown till ghey vote whatever way they are toldjust to get some relief of the pressure in a defenders, providers, and whose responsible area of social life ghey lect out

Ruling n taking control in good times is easy

Understanding the repercusions and murderous outcomes due to this, poisons the soul beyond death…

Every termite whether cocnizant or not is part of taking down the house…. ignorance is no defense in law, why is it a defense in life???? Just cause ur acclimated, doesnt mean its good, it just meanns its harder to have the ethical will to stop and resist inventing why plowing forward like a lemmjng is a good thing or the right thing

    We are lemkngs
    We are crazies
We will feed our flower habits
    Pushing daises
(Lemmings broadway show that illustrated ghe nihilism in the boomer revolution and its march towards embracing death)

  18. Obviously this is speculation, but I think if it were a tea-partier, we’d know about it already.

Call me a cynic, but if Big Sis is saying that there is “no broader plot,” that means nobody on the right is involved. If somebody on the right were involved, instead of “no broader plot”, we’d be trying to implicate Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and Limbaugh.

On the other hand, if it’s a jihadi, they have every reason to suggest it’s a lone wolf. After all, by killing bin Laden Obama ended the War on Terror. If al Queda were behind this, it would be incredibly inconvenient and tough to spin.

Limbaugh is right about how if it’s a rightwing nutjob, all conservatives will be implicated, whereas if it’s a jihadi, he won’t have anything to do with his own views. They’ve already isolated the suspect from any conspiracies, so my hunch is the latter.

On the other hand, if it’s a left-wing loon, expect massive coverage of some celebrity break-up next week to crowd out any of the Boston coverage.

  19. “On the other hand, if it’s a left-wing loon, expect massive coverage of some celebrity break-up next week to crowd out any of the Boston coverage.”

You will recall how the Atlanta bomber was often tagged as a Christian” when he had explicitly repudiated any such beliefs on the record.

What the left most fears, and seeks to preempt, is the spillover from the implications of their own “ironist” (to reference Rorty again) belief system. They fear it redounding on their own heads by those who accept their radically historicist premise, but who just don’t quiver to the same degree with anxiety over “cruelty” in quite the way the so-called “liberal” ironist does.

Since on their own terms of interpretation they have no argument based on metaphysical or objective principles to make, they must consciously abandon logical argumentation for rhetoric directed toward stimulating a particular affect in others; whether it be positive or negative. Truth as an accurate reflection of some prior state is taken as irrelevant, being imagined as “created”, not discovered.

What some clown in a university lit department irrelevantly believes about the meaning of speech acts, suddenly then becomes dangerous when he turns his uninhibited attention and the attention of his disciples, to the reconstruction of your existence …

No wonder they want to ban guns.

  20. We need to open up a dialogue and rethink our assumptions.

What? We did? We got screwed? We lost ours and got theirs? We’re not allowed to think for ourselves, anymore? Education is done? No more dialogue, then? Huh, huh?

    When’d this happen?

  21. If this turns out to be a foreigner, Tingles will need to be sedated with Thorazine and institutionalized. Of course, that would be a welcome development, whomever is responsible.

  22. Maybe I’ve missed something, but when has a Tea Party member protested violently (unprovoked, so not counting town hall skirmishes)? Have there been any Tea Party bomb plots uncovered or thwarted by the police/FBI/DHS? Has there been any online or written agitation suggesting bombs as a valid Tea Party protest method similar to Inspire magazine or the Weathermen? Heck, have there been any arrests at actual Tea Party events, such as the rapes, vandalizations, and thefts at OWS camps?

I just don’t understand why we have to rule out the Tea Party theory when there’s no history or violent protest or obvious evidence (so far) that would indicate it’s a possibility AND there’s so much more indicating that it could be the work of an Inspire-reading jihadi.

  23. Lizzy: The Tea Party may not have committed any actual acts of violence, but they’ve been ACCUSED of committing more than several. Unlike at the “largely peaceful” immigration protests in which they were throwing stuff at the police. reporters felt very uncomfortable at some of the Tea Party rallies.

And if reporters fell uncomfortable in your company, if “some” wonder if the Tea Party may be involved somehow, that’s plenty of reason to suspect them.

It’s gotta be a jihadi. If there were any chance whatsoever it was Tim McVeigh Mach II, the administration would be so eager to start the “national conversation” on the “tone of political discourse” that the leaks would resemble Niagara.

  24. Lizzy I think the date was December 16, 1773 in Boston Harbor. The acts of violence surrounding the original tea party seem to be sketchy at best.
