The non-fictional Barack Obama speaks…
…and accuses Republicans of having created a “fictional Barack Obama.”
And here I thought the post-modern narrative was everything, and that Obama had already created his own fictional Barack Obama, whose blanks we had been invited to fill in as we so desired.
Obama also uttered this tidbit, apparently with no awareness of its deep irony:
Gov. Romney spent a lot of time talking about himself and he spent a lot of time talking about me. He didn’t spend a lot of time talking about the American people and how their lives will get better.
As well as this one: that an element of the fictional Obama these Republicans have created is the notion that he “doesn’t think small businesses built their own businesses.”
Since breaking onto the national scene, Obama has had almost total control of his image and how his administration is portrayed in the media. His administration has micromanaged the MSM, vetting questions, excluding reporters and/or news organization that have dared to criticize him, etc.
After watching the clip of the MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry meltdown, it’s clear that Obama and the Left are incredibly frustrated they haven’t been able to bury Obama’s “you didn’t build that” gaffe. They are so used to controlling the narrative, that Romney’s effective hits on Obama’s record – especially by using his own words against him – have become almost unbearable.
Both Obama and Biden have been accusing Romney and Ryan of the very things they are guilty of, like Biden mentioning that Romney accused Obama of being out of touch and then asking listeners if they have offshore bank accounts…finishing with “out of touch?” Implying that wealth necessitates disconnection.
Relying on ignorance that Obama is a millionaire and that Obama’s team have purposely and personally opened offshore accounts and applied for foreign lines of credit.
Romney and Ryan can neutralize that charge by exposing the hypocrisy…
The latest poll has 40% agreeing that Obama has earned reelection. If that number holds, Obama’s toast.
Whether it holds, almost certainly depends upon Romney’s performance in the upcoming debate.
When is that, anyway? Somehow I’ve missed it.
On the numbers and facts, Ryan can wipe the floor with Biden but ‘old Joe’ is going to lie, use innuendo and appeal to emotion. I hope those advising Ryan are cognizant of this and properly prepare Ryan for Biden’s tactics.
Geoffrey Britain, 11:42 am:
“The latest poll has 40% agreeing that Obama has earned reelection. If that number holds, Obama’s toast.”
Gonna be the skunk at the picnic here, but . . .
another possibility is that some percentage at the same time does not want Romney in the Oval Office.
Obama’s vote will consist of those who feel he does deserve reelection, ^plus^ those who in any event don’t want Romney or the Republicans in power, for whatever reason.
We-all got alotta work left to do.
. . . oh yeah, plus the graveyard vote, plus the fictitious vote, plus the illegals vote.
Dear Mister Prezzy: Mitt “talked about himself”?! Please File under: You Can’t Make This S*** Up!
You even managed to talk to Clint Eastwood about your cheap-loser self. And, as Clint sensitively pointed out,”you don’t do the job..you’ve got to go.”
You & Yours are going to be seeing that Empty Chair alot, Yer Majesty. And then yer gonna GO.
Obama’s perspective which subordinates the individual to the state (or collective) will likely be his undoing. It is a fundamental contradiction of the principle upon which this nation was founded. My guess is that Americans are still the majority in America. While our culture has indeed been corrupted through social activism and political interests, it has not yet reached critical effect.
All that matters, of course, is what the public actually hears, sees, and believes.
Among the most encouraging factors on this eve of the DNC convention are numerous reports that members of several major news organizations have abandoned their DNC assigned lodgings.
Seems that hotel space in the relatively small city of Charlotte is limited. The DNC apparently has control over who stays where. News people have been lodged in some substandard hotels and motels. Some are actually not safe, while others are infested with bed bugs. Some correspondents have reportedly relocated to lodgings in South Carolina (ain’t that close) and are complaining vocally.
You can make a lot of mistakes; but do not come between the media and their comforts and perks.
President Present has spent so much of his life regaling all who care to listen with tales of his own “fictional Barack Obama”, complete with two misfiled “autobiographies”, one is forced to wonder if he’d even recognize the real one if they bumped into each other on the way to the golf course.
PCachu,
That is funny.
I’ve actually felt but haven’t stated it out loud that Obama might have multiple personality disorder.
As well as this one: that an element of the fictional Obama these Republicans have created is the notion that he “doesn’t think small businesses built their own businesses.”
At least with Dubya, you knew what he meant, not matter how garbled the syntax may have been. With The Won, trapped in his post modern deconstructionist eloquence, a.k.a. totally lost without TOTUS, there was ambiguous meaning to “You didn’t build that.”
If The Won meant infrastructure, as in “You didn’t build that highway/telephone network” et al, he was incorrect, as the small businessman paid for that with fees – if privately funded infrastructure- or taxes.
While The Won claims that ” You didn’t build” that didn’t mean that that small businesses didn’t build their businesses, there was PLENTY of disdain for achievers in the rest of the speech. “You work hard? There’s plenty of people who work hard? “You’re bright? There are plenty of people who are bright.” That is contempt for achievement, straight from The Won’s mouth.
I can see how The Won feels that, as it is evident that The Won is not the hardest worker in the room- golf not included. If The Won were the brightest bulb in the room, or near it, he would not have blocked release of his college transcripts.
accuses Republicans of having created a “fictional Barack Obama.”
You mean they created a “composite” Barack Obama?
How many does that make now?
What PCachu said about The Won’s fiction in his autobiographies. We have a composite POTUS complaining that not everyone agrees with the admittedly composite portrait he has presented to the world. Sounds like he should be blaming himself for not being able to pull wool over everyone’s eyes. Or at least blame Bill Ayers. 🙂
Q: “How many does that make now?”
A: Zero. There is no ‘real’ Obama, merely an empty chair.
Team Obama becomes more snarky and addled day by day. The DNC convention will produce plenty of fodder for R&R as the BHO campaign goes ‘Onion’.
Lack of self-awareness, anyone?
Bedbugs? Nooooo problemo! Professional courtesy, like sharks and lawyers.

Have y’all (reverting to my days in Georgia) seen the latest DNC video in which they say we BELONG to the government? Looks like they are already doing what parker has predicted.

Here is a presidential election quiz.
According to the results I am
90% Pub
65% Libertarian
25% Demo
13% Green
Not siding on Green politics, but I do not use AC in hot as hell in the summer TX. My car gets 27 city, 40 highway.

Raymond Shaw for President!
“…. the latest DNC video in which they say we BELONG to the government? ”
Thanks for the link physicsguy. That video is a great gift as it perfectly captures the ‘progressive mindset’. I venture to predict, as Clint pointed out, a majority of voters know the government belongs to us. This video should be featured in R&R propaganda.
So in addition to the ambitious priority he set for the good of America, which is “to better communicate his economic success”, he’s added for his second term the lofty goal of making sure we understand who he really is? Is this much sacrifice and dedication possible of one man in only 4 years?
America is truly blessed to be lead such a selfless visionary.
Gringo,/b>, an amusing quiz. According to it, I now side with Libertarians only 54%; apparently the longer I’m surrounded by the lunatic lefties in SoCal, the more conservative I become in reaction to their fiscal and social insanity.
Argh, messed up the html code there, sorry.
Fictional, eh? So Barry is admitting that Ayers wrote his books for him?

oh my. I watched Michelle’s entire speech which was FULL of soaring rhetoric and really energized the crowd.
I couldn’t help thinking:
1) She hasn’t watched her husband’s speeches or press conferences. She actually said her husband doesn’t care if you are a democrat or republican. He’s open to all good ideas.
2) When she said near the end, “work harder than we’ve ever worked before”. She must’ve meant for her husband but not in the job that people don’t have. What in the world is she talking about work harder than we’ve ever worked before. I WORK DAMN hard and YOUR HUSBAND is with the help of the democrats in Congress flushing our money down the Mariana’s trench.
I understand you democrats are “for” student loans and everything else. When our country has no opportunity for our young ones because you’ve regulated, taxed, etc anything successful out of existence then why in the world can’t you OPEN YOUR EARS to a good idea of actually PASSING A BUDGET!!!!!!!!
Your husband’s budget was voted against 97-0. Ninety seven to NOTHING in the Senate. It got ZERO votes in the House of Representatives.
There hasn’t been a budget passed in 3 years!!!!! And this speech really made me physically angry and sick. To watch her basically whip a crowd into what??? more spending? what people?? what??? More “investment” with what money!!!!!???!!!
Baklava . . .
“whip a crowd into what??? more spending? what people?? what??? ”
Into a utopia in which the religious vision of collectivism is the ultimate Reality. No green eyeshade hard number crunchers will be welcome.
It’s a utopian vision in which we never run out of other peoples’ money.
“Imagine”, as John Lennon implored us all.
Baklava, I understand your frustration, I truly do. But creatures like Michelle, Reid, Pelosi, Wassermann, and the tingle up the leg crowd are to laughed at, not shouted at. They do not deserve your anger, they deserve your ridicule. Focus on the empty chair returning to Chicago, Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia, or perhaps the Gaza Strip, or a tax haven in the Caribbean.
To quote Rev Wright, “Chickens come home to roost.” BHO is going to end up sitting underneath the roost and it won’t be ticker tape falling on his head and shoulders.
Be of good cheer, a turning (soft and probably slight) of the tide is rushing in. 300+ electoral votes for R&R.
Welp. They sure are ridiculous.
And with Michelle’s line, “the right to love who you are with”… I was so wishing she’d go all the way and say the right to MARRY.
30 states full of people have rejected changing the definition of marriage. Nobody on the Republican side is for ripping loved ones away from each other. The way things are worded are ridiculous. Who ever said that people can’t love the one they are with?
I loved that empty chair routine btw. My girlfriend and I watched it together and we loved it. I looked at her wide eyed a few times. She had heard negative things from the press so we pulled it up on youtube.
I do believe it’ll be a landslide parker. for Romney. I can’t imagine that people will be enthusiastically voting for an empty chair.
Btw Neo, Cory Booker’s speech (mayor of Newark NJ) was the absolute WORST.
People should really focus a beam of light on that speech. Horrible. He had such hate filled rhetoric that I sat with my mouth open like a Rio Linda democrat.
I’m not quoting exactly:
He said, “It’s not class warfare to say to people who have succeeded to contribute a little more. It’s patriotic !!!”
Can I just pull Cory Booker’s ear and drag him off the stage like his mom should’ve done?
Lordy!
It’s not patriotic to keep pummeling the economy with these kinds of policies making it so young people have little opportunity Cory Booker. You need to study economics 101 before you go on stage again.
physicsguy 6:55PM:
Romney almost immediately tweeted back,
“We don’t belong to the government, the government belongs to us”
Good one, Mitt! Furthermore BO almost immediately denied responsibility (the only activity he has ever shown any talent for), claiming it was some *other* Dem organization that put it out and accusing Romney of “faux outrage”. Bwahahaha!
I hate this tweet business.
Nobody like me hears a tweet.
Just call me a 42 year old grumpy old man today! 🙂
Thank goodness for Gary reporting the tweet.
Here is how Romney should handle it. Call a press conference tomorrow to address the issue of no budget passed for 3 years.
Baklava, I don’t tweet either, I got this all from the HotAir web site:
http://hotair.com/archives/2012/09/04/dnc-video-government-is-the-only-thing-we-all-belong-to/
Will Debbie Wasserman Shulz crack already?

Prior to Michelle’s “we must work like never before” comment she had this beautiful quiver in her voice that Angelina Jolie couldn’t have done. No actress could’ve perfected the emotion that she projected during those moments. I encourage everyone to view that part with the sound turned up.
I wonder what Michelle gave back when she got that 300 thou plus job through cronyism. And what was that bit about Obama not taking a job to get rich but going instead to help a community where a steeé¶ mil had shut down. Am I remembering wrong that when he went to Chicago as an organizer, he had to look around for a project and then settled on Altgeld Gardens. Just like he reads letters from victims every night so he can find the next Lily Ledbetter to use.
Thank heaven I had other things going on so I couldn’t watch any more of this nauseating BS.
And don’t google “we must work live never before”
You’ll get 705 million results.
With newspaper after newspaper giving glowing coverage.
What in the hell does the whole thing mean? Work like never before to what? Re-elect her husband?
How about this. I’ll work like never before to make a better country for my two daughters so that they have opportunity – that means defeating liberals (not just Obama) because they don’t understand economics 101.
Oh, Baklava, YES: Prior to Michelle’s “we must work like never before” comment she had this beautiful quiver in her voice that Angelina Jolie couldn’t have done. No actress could’ve perfected the emotion that she projected during those moments.
My husband said “What the heck, she’s acting like she’s about to cry?!” My reply was “I always knew she was the better actor of the two.”
Meanwhile I was trying not to lose the delicious lobster roll I ate for dinner, and it was a close call. Watching Michelle extoll the virtues of her husband required a strong stomach indeed.
We must sperm like never before.
Gentlemen (and Ladieeeeeeeees!) to your marks.

Chritzey, init whut itler done?
We mussel aint said that yet.
Shiza
Well, well. Isn’t this special. A guy named Kurt Eichenwald, supposedly a Vanity Fair contributor, has penned this vicious screed. What does the imagery of “disinfection” and “ash heaps” remind you of?
>>”In the last four years, the GOP has transmogrified into something ugly and vicious and, more important, something wedded to the politics of fantasy and ignorance.
“It has rushed so far from its moorings that I cannot conceive of voting for members of this party until, hopefully, they pull themselves back from the precipice of self-destruction, paranoia and delusion.
“Today, for Republicans, up is down and front is back. Lying has become so ingrained into the conservatives’ national dialogue that they are now dangerously demagogic or, worse, severely unhinged. Blind rage at the election of Barack Obama has wrecked a once great political party.
“Its leaders have made so many deals with the devil in their almost pathological obsession with unseating Obama that they have pushed the GOP into its own version of political hell — unable to speak truths to their now-rabid and conspiracy-addled base and unable to right the party back onto a path of responsibility.
“Only through the disinfectant of defeat can the Republicans, and the two party system, be preserved.
And so, the campaign of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan must be consigned to the ash heap of history. Defeat must not only be decisive, it must be crippling.”<<
Neo, you're a psychologist. Do you think projection might be a problem for this feller? And severe displacement?
Or is it the rage of Caliban on seeing his face in the glass?
Oh, uh, emphases mine…. I’m bolding things like our mom used to underline them in newspaper clippings!
Talking about the American people …
Your husband’s budget was voted against 97-0. Ninety seven to NOTHING in the Senate.
The Senate voted down a later budget 99-0.
At least Barky’s still got his shutout going.
