China is rapidly building up its military forces to be able to conduct high-technology warfare using a combination of advanced conventional weapons and a growing arsenal of nuclear and non-nuclear strategic weapons.
They include new nuclear arms, multiple-warhead missiles, an advanced anti-ship ballistic missiles, anti-satellite weapons and cyber warfare capabilities.

Touche, touche. I didn’t even have to check the link.

“Don’t blame me, I voted for SMOD.”
If you didn’t vote for Obama, and aren’t part of the 93% in DC that did, beware the Ides of march next year.
Just saying.
I liked Jim Geraghty’s thoughts about potraying Obama as naive rather than evil because that is less of a jump to make for his disappointed supporters. Powerline and Taranto (at WSJ Best of the Web) have picked up on this. It is good to talk about strategy and tactics so we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot.
New Gingrich is a know-it-all.
One type of knowledge that know-it-alls typically lack is self-knowledge.
In Newt’s case it’s the knowledge that he’s become an irrelevant bore.
Help me out here…
Things you have to believe if you vote for Obama:
That he was born in the US.
That Saul Alinsky was merely a casual acquaintance.
That He never listened to the preachings of Jeremiah Wright.
That Eric Holder is a credible Atny General who knew nothing about Fast-N-Furious..
Strip the federal government of all of its unconstitutional powers (would be a LOT), including its power to tax the hell outta us and let the individual states decide on things like Medicare, health care, social security, welfare safety nets, etc.
That way California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Illinois, etc. could do things (and pay for them) the way they want and Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. could do what they want and NOT have to pay for what California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Illinois, etc. want to do.
Seems like even the liberals would want this except for the fact that they DO want Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Alabama, Tennessee, etc. to pay for the liberals’ silliness.
Am I the only one who thinks this is what the founders intended?
Any discussion about presidential election politics in the US must devolve into a discussion about the maturity of the electorate. Assuming that affluence delays maturity it appears obvious that Obama owes his election to the emotional equivalent of 8 and 9 years masquerading as 18 and 19 year college students.
Another observation; after 3 years of lunacy Obama still has close to 50% approval. This can be attributed to a primordial human need to believe in Santa Klaus. I wonder why this has not been addressed by evolutionary psychologists.
My solution: disqualify three groups from voting:
1) those below 21;
2) those on welfare;
3) those who have never left educational institutions. This acknowledges that colleges are places people without natural abilities go to avoid an education.
Needless to say members of the Armed Forces and veterans would be exempt from these restrictions.
Another suggestion, a voter maturity index to be called the Bob From Virginia Closeness to Death and Destruction Maturity Index (BOVCloDeDeMI for short). It would work like this, the more aware a voter is that the wrong choice in an election could get him killed or impoverished the more qualified he is to vote. Test questions for this index would be ” Sex appeal indicates a candidate’s qualification for office, Yes or No”, “A promise to do the impossible represents the ability to do the impossible”, “the ability to deliver a speech says more about a candidate than his circle of acquaintances”,” the winner of American Idol is naturally the most qualified to be President” and so forth. The higher the score the less qualified the person is to vote.
If American democracy is to survive the BOVCloDeDeMI or something like it is vital.
What makes the Left effective is that they cheat and appear to be following the rules. That’s it.
Bob from Virginia:
You’re exactly right. Democracy itself is the problem, as the Founders understood perfectly well. It is not a stable form of government, and never has been.
We must seek ways of restricting voting to the productive members of society. The universal franchise will inevitably doom us, as the takers outnumber the makers.
The Left also understands this, which is why they seek to create more and more people who are dependent on government, as well as opposing any and all measures to prevent vote fraud and keep illegal aliens from voting.
Five Easy Steps to feel better each and every day:
Step 1: create a file on your computer desktop and name it BARACK OBAMA.
Step 2: delete that file.
Step 3: empty your recycle bin.
Step 4: when your PC asks you if you want to permanently delete “BARRACK OBAMA” click YES!
Step 5: Feel better? Good – Tomorrow we do NANCY PELOSI.
Bob from VA,
I agree with the 21 criteria, but otherwise IMO you make it too complicated. I propose a simple test, all questions must be answered correctly or you are not allowed to vote.
1. The sun revolves around the earth from east to west.
T or F
2. The USA was founded as a democracy, not a republic.
T or F
3. The Bill of Rights refers to privileges the government grants to the citizens of the USA.
T or F
This simple test will weed out 50+% the (now) eligible electorate. Problem solved.
Excellent! That just might work, Parker.

I think this article makes a LOT of sense:
