Gail Collins is a true believer in her religion of hate .
She claims Obama will be a champion of fiscal responsibility if he sticks to his guns in his plan to soak the “rich”.
But she says not one word about spending. To her, and everyone else like her, spending is set in stone. It’s immutable. It’s just a matter of finding someone to squeeze the money out of to support that spending. And, of course, those someones to squeeze the money out of are the rich. There’s no principle involved, it’s just a matter of “We need the money and they have it.” It’s another formulation of bank robber Willie Sutton’s famous answer to the question “Why do you rob banks?” His reply: “Because that’s where the money is.”
She never once considers that the claimed $700 billion we would have to borrow to cover the tax cut (which makes no sense in itself, since we’re not talking about cutting any taxes) is $700 billion less we could spend in government expenditures. That would have the air of fiscal responsibility about it.
The thing reads like satire. I don’t believe the left has much talent for self parody however. Jon Stewart on Xanax, possibly. Otherwise, they’re shrill, humorless and lately becoming more than a little dangerous, like toddlers with AK-47s.
She’s an idiot… 😡
