Spambot of the day — 4 Comments

  1. I’ve had this problem on other sites. It’s usually when I’ve done a particularly long comment, or have been interrupted sometime during my entry.

After some _serious_ aggravation – which can’t be helped by the owner of the blog, I’ve come to the conclusion that the problem is one of “refreshing” by the blog/computer…whatever.

So…now, when I do a particularly long comment, I copy, refresh the page, paste and then send/submit. So far, it’s worked. And by the way… on at least one occasion, when I hit “refresh”, the comment had just disappeared. Other times it didn’t. In other words, your long comment has disappeared into the ethernet.

    I understand your aggravation!!

  2. suek: that may be a real problem, but that particular commenter was actually a spambot, a computer-generated automatic message dumped on tons of blogs in order to leave a link to a certain website whose internet presence and traffic they want to increase.

And I’m not sure “spambot” is exactly the correct term. But I’ve not been able to locate a better one.

  3. Ahhh. Sorry. But I _have_ had that same problem very recently – so I didn’t read as carefully as I should have.

What a dumb spambot thing! Do people _really_ click on links on them??? That’s pretty dumb too!

  4. Some of us aren’t smart enough to be spambots, and must manually find and open a thread. Woe is us. We are underprivileged and need government assistance in our struggle.

    ;=)
