Obama the great bamboozler — 65 Comments

  1. If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull – W.C. Fields

  2. what he says about them is often the best clue to what he’s actually doing, or planning to do.

A long time ago, I explained the mathematical game theory pay off of the position they always take. In the final analysis, if your doing something (or not), its always favorable (to you) to promote the negative that can be done. in this way, if you are doing it, at worst your both equal. if your not, and they are (or believed to be by claim), then you have the high ground. etc.

the key to this is the qwerty effect where the first thing taking a position has the high ground and is hard to unseat. ie. they use the biology they deny exists against us. we believe it doesn’t exist, and so we stand there like idiots, unprotected.

in order to refute the false position, one has to bring it up, and by bringing it up, one reinforces the negative position. the new idea has an impossible time playing catch up, unless something holds back the dominant (by being first), idea.

this is why i tried to explain to you that your ideas and rationalizations theory is meaningless as the proper view to imagine to understand them is to imagine one trying to herd cattle who only respond to mental ideas, rationalizations, inducements, etc.

there is no individual standing before them only masses. there is a false individual relationship between YOU and they, but not they to you.

and so the people behind the red rope are looking out onto a sea of peoples. they see their own humanity as they stand apart. however they dont realize that THEY are the puppets. they are the interface between the ruling cool that sets the mental state and direction, and the masses out there who they agree and then move their force to compel.

this is why the arguments are couched to the elite and this key group the masses look up to, not the masses, who are incidental to the leadership the way that a private in the army is inconsequential as the leaders deal with the ‘social’ generals.

you keep going into political theory territory that takes volumes to explain with any functional detail.

    sigh

  3. I was puzzled by Obama’s choice of the word “bamboozled” but now all becomes clear, just as a close inspection of various videos shows him giving his opponents the finger as he supposedly scratches his face (and usually the side of his face away from his target) with his middle finger.

  4. Personally, I would not compare Obama to Malcolm X….no comparison.
    Obama is a parasite.

  5. From WaPo three months ago:

“This year, the stakes are higher than ever,” he said, according to a transcript of his remarks provided by Democratic officials. “It will be up to each of you to make sure that young people, African Americans, Latinos and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again.”

    No white males need apply?

If he thought it would work in 2012, I suspect that our post-racial President would run the most overtly bigoted campaign since George Wallace.

  6. Missouri gave Ogabe the big middle finger last night.

    71% want OgabeCare repealed.

Put that in your bong and smoke it Obama.

Obama isn’t even trying to act presidential now.

He reminds me of a 20 year old campus activist.

  7. One of the most perverse things about Obama is that, when he’s trying to get tough with the opposition, what he says about them is often the best clue to what he’s actually doing, or planning to do.

This sort of projection is typical of all leftists. They scream about Republicans stealing elections, then blatantly Gregoire the Washington gubernatorial election (more votes cast than registered voters…hmmm), and Franken the Minnesota Senatorial one (no need to give automobile trunks the vote — they’ve got plenty already).

They howl about non-existent voter intimidation, but have no problem with armed thugs turning prospective voters away.

Before there was any such thing as a Jew or a Christian, we were black people!

To this I say the same thing I say to Muslims who assert that a millennium ago the Islamic world was more advanced than Europe: with that headstart, you have no excuse for your sorry state today. Pull up your socks and get cracking. You’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

They send drugs in Harlem down here to pacify us!

They send alcohol down here to pacify us!

They send prostitution down here to pacify us!

So, let’s see. Basically Harlem would be a model of civic-mindedness but for the white man, who forces Harlem’s residents to indulge in drugs, alcohol, and prostitution, much against their will. It’s not their fault! They’re utterly blameless! They’re helpless lambs who’ve been led astray!

Got it. I’m curious how someone holding such views would explain rap lyrics and black gangs murdering each other. Blaming others for those would take some serious intellectual gymnastics.

So, just out of curiosity, what were Harlem’s residents actually responsible for? Anything?

Why you can’t even get drugs in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get prostitution in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get gambling in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

Sounds like he’s more aggrieved at the lack of equal opportunity in these vices than their existence.

  8. Artfldgr Says:

“In the final analysis, if your doing something (or not), its always favorable (to you) to promote the negative that can be done. in this way, if you are doing it, at worst your both equal.”

Another thing, your starting the meme early so it can get on the public’s nerves before the other side gets around to accusing them of doing what they claimed others did. So, when people call BS, everyone rolls their eyes (i.e., will we be able to blame Obama for things he actually did or will everyone eye roll us and say that it sounds just like Obama blaming Bush?).

  9. “One of the most perverse things about Obama is that, when he’s trying to get tough with the opposition, what he says about them is often the best clue to what he’s actually doing, or planning to do.”

You mean like when he expressed his deep concern at the national debt during the SOTU address after being responsible for its quadrupling?

  10. Something like the classic killing one’s parents then asking for mercy because one is an orphan.

  11. Artfldgr:
in order to refute the false position, one has to bring it up, and by bringing it up, one reinforces the negative position. the new idea has an impossible time playing catch up, unless something holds back the dominant (by being first), idea.

Out-of-the-box thinking is called for here. When subjected to an unfair attack, the answer isn’t finding a fair defense; the answer is counterattack.

If I’m challenged to answer whether or not I’ve quit beating my wife, answering the question does me no good. Instead, attacking my questioner back — “funny you should ask. Weren’t YOU arrested for domestic violence a few years back?” — can turn the tables, particularly if I’ve done my homework about my questioner.

In this, we actually do have the advantage, because we know what President Obama has said and done since being in the public eye. As such, the response should be clear: “Mr. President, you were on record on the following dates making the following promises; on these later dates, you reneged on those promises, or claimed you had never made them. And then on August 2nd, YOU accused US of “counting on amnesia”. Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing, sir? Or are you assuming that we’re too stupid to look you up in Google?”

If the Republicans are smart — about which I have grave doubts — they’ll use Mr. Obama’s own words, pro and con, back to back… and play them 24/7. This can then influence any local race, simply by juxtaposing Obama’s clips with one of the local candidate, pledging support for Obama.

In fact, it ought to be enough for SOME candidates to use this approach… because the word will get out, whether it’s pushed by the RNC or not.

Obama’s skill at double-talk makes John “I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it” Kerry look like a rank amateur. The key, for this November, will be to make this embarrassingly plain for all to see.

    respectfully,
    Daniel in Brookline

  12. The Republican response to the absolute gall of Obama’s hypocrisy and the mathematical game theory to which Artfldgr refers is easy enough to master.

First expect it, being prepared is always the first step in an effective response.

Second, follow applicable principles in formulating a response, as principles allow for recognizing context and prevent details from confusing us.

First principle: acknowledge the point in a way that exploits the weakness inherent in a hypocritical, ‘gamesmanship’ attack.

    Example:

“Yes, Pres. Obama let’s talk about what we are counting on. Let’s have an honest public discussion about what we are both betting on.

Republican’s are betting that the American people recognize the deficits that Democrats have unethically imposed upon the country, their children and future generations.

Republican’s are betting that the American people recognize the unconstitutional imposition of the individual health insurance mandate…

Republicans are betting that Americans have reached the conclusion that you are not serious about protecting our borders.

Republicans are betting that Americans realize that you aren’t getting the job done and that the “buck” still stops at your desk.

Republicans are counting on Americans still believing in giving someone a second chance when they earn it and that our honesty in admitting the economic mistakes we made prior to 2006, indicate a sincere desire to learn from those mistakes.

When shall you admit your mistakes? When will you stop blaming your predecessor? Democrats have controlled Congress since 2006, nearly 4 years and you’ve been in office for 19 months…yet you all have only made things worse.

Clearly, what Democrats are counting on is selective amnesia, the very thing you accuse others of, which is a classic example of hypocrisy.

Unfortunately for Democrats, the “jigs up” and it’s time for you to take responsibility for your actions and inability to do the job.

But whether you take responsibility or not, the American people are about to hold both you and your party accountable…”

This type of response will make Obama rue the day he brought the subject up because the appropriate counter-response always lies within an attack that obscures the truth.

  13. Hmm, that might make for an interesting add campaign:

On [this date], President Obama said this:

    PRO — (run video clip)

On [this later date], President Obama said the opposite:

    CON — (run video clip)

Pro and Con. President Obama is a pro at conning us.

  14. Right, because no one used the word bamboozle before 1960:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bamboozle
    “—verb (used with object)
    1.
to deceive or get the better of (someone) by trickery, flattery, or the like; humbug; hoodwink (often fol. by into ): They bamboozled us into joining the club.
    2.
    to perplex; mystify.

    Origin:
    1695—1705; orig. uncert. …”

  15. After Sarah Palin tweeted an imaginary word, “refudiate”, it generated so much hateful scorn on the left that it took half a page at Memeorandum to list all the blog posts about it. Hell, it was probably even international news.

But when the greatest orator of all time tells Democrats in a speech that, “They [Republicans] think they can run the okey-doke on you”, nobody cared that the great orarator uttered a sentence composed of complete gibberish.

Per Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, the definition of okey-doke is: “used to express assent”.

I think we can all agree okey-doke is colloquial for “OK OK”. So the way Obama used it makes no sense. Just gibberish.

There’s even a double standard about how gibberish is covered by bloggers and journalists.

[Note from neo-neocon: there’s an urban slang definition for “okey-doke,” which I believe is the one Obama is using: “…Obama’s “okey-doke,” meaning “con” — mid-20th-century slang — is indeed primarily black English, my dictionaries say.”]

  16. Tracy,

Don’t hurt yourself jerking that knee.

    Neo,

Forgive me if you alluded to this already in your post (I skimmed it quickly), but are you aware that in addition to the Malcom X biopic in which the main character uttered the word “bamboozled,” Spike Lee also produced an ENTIRE MOVIE called Bamboozled:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboozled

Here’s a snip from the Wiki overview:

“…The content is intended as satirical, with its show within a show featuring its characters, all in blackface, performing in a watermelon patch. The Roots, a hip-hop band from Philadelphia, have a role as the show’s house band, The Alabama Porch Monkeys. The audiences within the movie, initially baffled, come to love the show, and after a few episodes Hispanics, Asians, blacks, and even elderly white women show up in blackface and proclaim themselves “niggers”. One of Lee’s tricks on the audience for his movie is that the performances of the show within a show are rendered with careful clear musicianship, timing, and dancing, all within the most stereotypical settings of cotton fields and watermelon feasts. The script expresses rage and grief at media representations of black people, largely through the eyes of its moral center, Sloan Hopkins. It also satirizes many icons of black culture including Ving Rhames, Will Smith (real-life husband of Jada Pinkett Smith), Johnnie Cochran, and Al Sharpton. Cochran and Sharpton appear as themselves in the film, protesting against the television series. It also seems to take aim at variety shows such as In Living Color, of which Davidson and Wayans were cast members (and is mentioned by Wayans’ character in a discussion of African-American comedy routines). Bamboozled has a superficial similarity to the 1976 Oscar-winning film Network which is also about the frustrated employee of a television network who in an act of desperation creates a controversial television show. In both films, the show becomes extremely popular but begins a chain of events which spins violently out of control. Mantan’s last words to the show’s audience are based on Howard Beale’s famous line “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”….”

So yeah, thanks to Spike Lee, plenty of black people are familiar with the expression “bamboozled” (conveniently, the main character is a black Harvard grad!). And Obama takes full advantage of that fact to sow racial divisiveness as it suits his purposes. Hope and change, indeed.

I’m just not sure what he expects to accomplish by firing up this particular audience. The vast majority of black voters have been in his corner since the beginning and they’ll stay there, come hell or high water. It’s the independents who realize they’ve been had and I don’t think these kind of speeches will help him woo those voters back (no matter how many times he makes a campaign appearance on The View).

  17. Daniel,

    You are absolutely correct.

The Republicans have so much ammunition to throw at the Democrats, in just Obama’s own words, that it’s an embarrassment of riches.

When voters are continually reminded of FL Gov. Crist embracing Obama, the Cornhusker kickback, Louisiana purchase and Stupak’s hypocritical betrayal, Pelosi’s inane clips, etc. etc. the Democrats will be lucky to retain any seats.

And the MSM can’t block ad campaigns.

Republicans need to mentally prepare for the predictable Democrat response; blaming Bush and cries of racism, etc.

If they prepare, their response will be effective and the mid-terms are going to be a political bloodbath for the Democrats.

Then, the real work will begin.

  18. It is obvious the neo neocon is a racist.

I have no idea how I came to that conclusion.

It just sounded like good thing to say.

    Signed,

    the NAACP

  19. I’m impressed you can even understand what those stupid niggers are even saying to each other. I just thought it was more nigger-bonics.

“Muh Muh Fuh Fuh Bix Nood, muthafucka. I’s gonna rape me a white woman on the way home from the welfare officer. muhfucka.”

Thank you for having the guts to translate what that stupid fucking nigger is saying to his horde of nigger followers and his nigger-loving marxist “white” liberal fucktards.

[Note from neo-neocon: I was busy this morning and didn’t get around to looking at comments till now. But instead of removing this one, I decided to keep it up as a prime example of a liberal troll trying (without much success) to imitate what he/she thinks would be a racist conservative’s approving response to this post. I expected as much when I wrote the original post, because of (a) the inevitable deliberate liberal misinterpretation of what I’m actually saying; (b) the usual kneejerk “racism; racist!” cry from liberals and the left; and (c) the fact that this post of mine was linked and reviled by one of the liberal/left blogs specializing in that sort of thing. No big surprise, really.]

  20. Oh, I say and I say it again, ya been had!

    Ya been took!

    Ya been hoodwinked!

    Bamboozled!

    Led astray!

    Run amok!

This is what He [The White Man] does….

Hmmm … the writers of Malcom X deserve to be shot; for they let a note of recognition of personal responsibility slip through.

After all, “to run amok” is the polar opposite of “to be led astray.”

  21. Next time you guys get to sit with the president and try your theories of opposition on camera, let me know so i can see it.

    [long explanation deleted]

how about coming back to reality and analyzing synoptically and with what actually works and can be done?

how about learning the rules of the game your talking about?

do note that this is equivalent to playing a card game without knowing the rules with the stakes being you and your families life and everything around you.

you would think that making up solutions and being incurious as to the whole thing would not be a starting point.

you would think that realizing that the other side has a play book, a plan, and historical precedence they hide… would cause one to want to look and learn..

    nope…

that would not be mimicking erudite academics as the seat of power, and so forth…

just to let you guys know, the academics are being humored. they are not making any policy. they are the source of brainstorming bad ideas and the sink for the blame.

its the people selecting which idiot eruditious moron to implement… by selecting ideas that align with what they want, and what they worked out.

they select john holdren, etc.. not someone else
not because Holden is right. but because Holden is a moron who promotes the same thing they want. and after all is said and done, they will punish Holdren later… and not be punished for the same idea they hold, but uses someone else to act upon.

when the holdrens and others have facilitated the change over with bad ideas, their vanity, and these others using them… THEY will be removed as the people who messed up everything…

or havent you noticed that they are pushing the same old communist idea of a return to pre-industry for the people, and agrarian society?

if their stuff had changed on iota since the first days, i would say it was irrelevant. but it hasn’t so it isn’t.

    here is the different potentials

the Germans didn’t know what was happening to them, it was all new and philip dru the administrator had not administrated society yet, but had collected the ideas of action as tools through history. (see the prince)

the closest they ever got to understanding was right after the war… but given that the leadership was copying the american progressives, the americna progressives spent their time cleansing history, making up new terms to hide old papers.

that way, after disparateimpact led to the extermination of the jews, the feminsits could use the same idea to alienate their mates in service to the cause.

of course the common cattle don’t know how it works, they are always REACTIONARY…

i am trying to teach you to be ANTICIPITORY
you cant win if your always reacting…

but since we cant self sort anymore, being all equal, we cant make that change. the mass of reactionaries pull the crabs back into the bucket, and seal the fate of all in the bucket.

if you play chess in a reactionary way, your going to lose everytime to a anticipatory player who can think turns ahead of you

the ONLY way to get out is to think ahead of them, and make one of their turns move you into your turns, and so change the relationship.

however, if you dont knwo what game your playing, you sure as hell cant think ahead in it, can you?

  22. How to catch pigs….
    [thanks moonbattery]

by the way…. notice how much good common sense we didn’t listen to comes from farm country and people like bundt… (oh yeah, you guys don’t know about him… oh well, your loss, not mine)

You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again.

You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

  23. Neo:

Has this guy with the handle Real White Patriot posted on your site before? In most instances, this is a liberal.

  24. Real White Patriot

There’s really no excuse for a liberal, African American, or anybody else posting such a comment, even if they’re trying to scam the board by pretending they’re somebody else.

It’s actually a Karl Rove type of tactic. No place for it.

If you actually consider yourself Conservative, feel free to climb back under your rock and stay there.

  25. Actually, people often mix diesel with the corn- for some reason the pigs like that. And they build traps fully made-that can be moved around on a flat bed pickup- i have never heard of anyone building it one part at a time. Course, those traps dont always catch a whole herd. There are guys that buy the wild pigs after you catch them. I heard of one that was selling them in Europe or asia as “wild boar”. Wild pigs are a pestilence- tearing up gardens overnight. See them dead on the side of the road around here occasionally.

  26. Yup, Real White Patriot sounds like a troll of the liberal persuasion. Doncha know, we’uns who voted fer dat feller McCain did so just after leavin’ a KKK meetin’. Dose paper ballots is better fer markin’ an X.

It appears that RWP posted this only here, as what of his nonsense I enclosed in quotes didn’t turn up when I Googled it.

If RWP wants to know why I consider myself a Post Liberal, the reply is that the likes of his posting gives sufficient reason.

  27. Real White Patriot should be renamed to:

    Banned from this site.

    Or… Fake Transparent Hater

  28. Anyone ever see this one?

A talking hallmark graduation card with it’s theme being the universe — graduates can tackle anything, including the planets and black holes.

The Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP lodged a complaint that the words “black holes” sounded too much like “black whores” — claiming that the card is racist and makes fun of blackness.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uneOOclsaPs&feature=player_embedded

  29. Artfldgr’s right about the necessity of reiterating a false position in order to rebut it, but in so doing reinforcing it, as is Daniel for his call for out of the box thinking:

Out-of-the-box thinking is called for here. When subjected to an unfair attack, the answer isn’t finding a fair defense; the answer is counterattack.

The danger of counterattack is twofold: voter fatigue at partisan squabbling (the “pox on both their houses” reaction lumps us in with the Dems, i.e., rounds us down) and coming off (or being made to appear to come off) as mean-spirited. The MSM can help with this last, of course.

I’d suggest a kind of reductio ad absurdum approach approach: exaggerating the charge to a ridiculous level or otherwise making its users into a laughing stock. For example, in response to Daniel’s “have you stopped beating your wife yet?,” you could reply, “Yes, I had to stop after she took all those boxing lessons. She’s got a wicked left jab-right cross combination now, so we just talk things out instead.”

Re the “amnesia” meme, we could say that Obama’s absolutely right. “Lots of people have amnesia and turn up for jobs they’d forgotten they’d lost in the previous two years. We need a Federal program to redirect these people back home. Twenty or thirty billion ought to suffice. Union jobs, of course. Maybe a couple of czars too.”

Ridicule is the key for us. The Dems generally and Obama in particular are notoriously thin-skinned about ridicule, probably because so much of their identity is tied up with being considered cool.

    Some possible themes:

“He’s spending us rich! Wagyu beef in every pot!”

“He voted ‘present’ before he voted ‘not present.’

“The White House is not a vacation timeshare.”

“The buck doesn’t stop in the Oval Office anymore. It stops, along with a helluva lot of other bucks, at SEIU headquarters.”

  30. On a lighter note, happy birthday, Barack! The sad thing is that it’s still more likely than not that he will be re-elected in 2012. And whether he’s out of office in January 2013 or January 2017, he’s still a relatively young guy, so we’ll all have to listen to Obama saying how great he was as President for years and years to come, no matter what happens.

  31. Ignore RWP, either a racist moron or a moronic liberal troll.

    Artfldgr,

“Next time you guys get to sit with the president and try your theories of opposition on camera, let me know so i can see it.”

Given your frequent, condescending air of superiority, begs the same observation of you.

“i am trying to teach you to be ANTICIPITORY”

I must have missed it. When did any of us ask you to teach us anything?

In addition, Daniel’s comment, “Instead, attacking my questioner back – “funny you should ask. Weren’t YOU arrested for domestic violence a few years back?” – can turn the tables, particularly if I’ve done my homework about my questioner.” [emphasis mine]

and my comment, “First, expect it, being prepared is always the first step in an effective response.”

indicate a certain level of anticipation and understanding, which if not at your exalted level, bears some credit for understanding the value of anticipation, does it not?

A different approach, based upon somewhat different premises than yours Artfldgr, may indicate a failure to appreciate the deeper layers of the ‘onion of leftism’ as you indicate or it may not.

But in any case, speaking condescendingly to others, regardless of how correct is counter-productive, if persuading others to pay attention to your views is your goal…but it’s an excellent method in alienating those whom you seek to reach.

Speaking colloquially, “you attract more bees with honey, than with vinegar”.

  32. by the way… during all this the pigs are having lots of conversations about the fence. the nice people who are working so hard to give them things. they rationalize whether its a social good to accept corn… they certainly dont go and read about farmers and what they do and intend to do with pigs. the farmer is way too nice, no? and so when some pig comes by and tells them what the farmers (progressives) have always done with pigs and have never done anything else. they then rationalize that the farmers they know aren’t like that. and neither are their friend pigs. and that the pig warning them just doesn’t want them to be happy and fat on the free corn. even funnier is whn the pig tells them the farmer doesn’t care what they think, or their ideas are or goals. but the pigs cant see beyond themselves, they cant see the real relationship because if they did, they would have to walk away from all that corn.

here, let a famous progressive clue you in:

Quote 1: Society has no business to permit degenerates to reproduce their kind…. Any group of farmers who permitted their best stock not to breed, and let all the increase come from the worst stock, would be treated as fit inmates for an asylum…. Some day we will realize that the prime duty, the inescapable duty of the good citizens of the right type is to leave his or her blood behind him in the world; and that we have no business to permit the perpetuation of citizens of the wrong type. The great problem of civilization is to secure a relative increase of the valuable as compared with the less valuable or noxious elements in the population… The problem cannot be met unless we give full consideration to the immense influence of heredity…

Quote 2: I wish very much that the wrong people could be prevented entirely from breeding; and when the evil nature of these people is sufficiently flagrant, this should be done. Criminals should be sterilized and feebleminded persons forbidden to leave offspring behind them… The emphasis should be laid on getting desirable people to breed…

26th President of US 1901-1909 – Theodore Roosevelt

Eurppeans copied the American progressives, they learned the common man was not on their side, they changed tactics not goals. now we imagine that we copied from the copiers…

The Puerto Ricans are the dirtiest, laziest, most dangerous and theivish race of men ever inhabiting this sphere… I have done my best to further the process of extermination by killing off eight and transplanting cancer into several more… All physicians take delight in the abuse and torture of the unfortunate subjects. they did the SAME thing to the spanish that they did to the blacks at tuskeegee… (that was funded by a famous man running Sears at that time)

In 1931, sponsored by the Rockefeller Institute, Rhoads deliberately infected several Puerto Rican citizens with cancer cells. Supposedly, thirteen of the patients died. Accusations against him are based upon a document written by him, which states in part[2]:

The Porto Ricans (sic) are the dirtiest, laziest, most degenerate and thievish race of men ever to inhabit this sphere… I have done my best to further the process of extermination by killing off eight and transplanting cancer into several more… All physicians take delight in the abuse and torture of the unfortunate subjects.[3]

Political unification in some sort of world government will be required… Even though… any radical eugenic policy will be for many years politically and psychologically impossible, it will be important for UNESCO to see that the eugenic problem is examined with the greatest care, and that the public mind is informed of the issues at stake so that much that now is unthinkable may at least become thinkable. Aldous Huxley – UNESCO: Its Purpose and Its Philosophy

I do not pretend that birth control is the only way in which population can be kept from increasing… War… has hitherto been dissappointing in this respect, but perhaps bacteriological war may prove more effective. If a Black Death could be spread throughout the world once in every generation survivors could procreate freely without making the world too full… The state of affairs might be somewhat unpleasant, but what of that? Really high-minded people are indifferent to happiness, especially other people’s… There are three ways of securing a society that shall be stable as regards population. The first is that of birth control, the second that of infanticide or really destructive wars, and the third that of general misery except for a powerful minority…

War has been throughout history, the chief source of social cohesion by providing an external necessity for a society to accept political rule.

  33. In case you all didn’t see it above, I added the following note to “Real White Patriot’s” comment:

I was busy this morning and didn’t get around to looking at comments till now. No big surprise.

Not only no big surprise, but completely predictable.

  34. Scott Says:

“I think we can all agree okey-doke is colloquial for “OK OK”. So the way Obama used it makes no sense. Just gibberish.”

Your getting all wee weed up over nothing. 🙂

  35. Trolls like Real White Patriot who pretend to have cartoonish “conservative” views do this, in part, because it gives them an exuse to use hateful, ugly, bigoted words that they really love and really, really, REALLY want to use. Why else would anybody type “n*****” five times in one comment?

These folks also think, of course, that their trolling hides the fact that they can’t actually reason well enough to come up with a coherent rejoinder to the post they’re commenting on — but in that respect they are bamboozling only themselves.

  36. I must have missed it. When did any of us ask you to teach us anything?

Ah I see…. hey all, do you all agree with GB?
You don’t want to learn, you want to be here to hear GB make up stuff?
Your here to be entertained, not learn or get a handle on whets being done to you?

Seems to me that this pig doesn’t like to be taught to sing, and so the pig is being very pissed at the situation calling upon him to do what he cant do (so he goes to annoy me).

Funny to see someone living an aphorism and being so cliché.
    No?

Why are you here at all GB? To be a Hux?

    I have a very good idea GB…

Why don’t you take one of those posts you don’t like, and then show me how to do it sine your so superior. Or are you a critic? You know, one of those people who spend their time in armchair critiques of others to prevent others from looking too closely at you and all that you lack?

    Go ahead smarty…

I CHALLENGE you. I challenge you to put up or shut up!!!!
I challenge you to get up off your ass and go toe to toe, or stop being a whiney entitled ignorant wuss…

and my comment, “First, expect it, being prepared is always the first step in an effective response.”

Your so right… next time I am with the president, I will be real prepared the way you are. your so smart, I should have realized that right now your studying come backs for when your sitting with the president before camera…

indicate a certain level of anticipation and understanding, which if not at your exalted level, bears some credit for understanding the value of anticipation, does it not?

Yes. Which if I was asking for advice in such a situation with someone I actually have access to and have a relationship with that might be great. But given we are talking about POTUS… your answer is freaking inane for everyone but senators, representatives, cabinet members, Gibbs, the press corps, and assorted on camera talking heads!!!

And it’s even more inane that in a missive of not being condescending, you didn’t even comprehend what I was saying to you!!! how’s that showing me your chops?

A different approach, based upon somewhat different premises than yours Artfldgr, may indicate a failure to appreciate the deeper layers of the ‘onion of leftism’ as you indicate or it may not.

And a man who is a pickle might be sour… but that doesn’t delineate those premises, the appreciation, or any hint that when we look into your eyes we will see someone driving.

Let me first show you something as to how you think and how I think..

Your self focused ego assumes I have a self focused ego…
So you see what I am saying is “failure to appreciate”
When what I am saying is “failure to understand”

The funny part is you don’t get that your problem is that I don’t want to be loved, appreciated, feared, or anything along those puerile ego reasons.

I want people to understand the history so that they can make better choices and be more effective in their lives, and what I get is an adult who acts like a 14 year old smart ass who thinks it’s great to prevent others from learning, and to foul up his own edification with ego games.

You don’t get that if I lie to you, you will appreciate me more
If I change my game to play with your head, as your asking me to since your so used to it, then I am no longer being honest. On some level I am lying abut my feelings, frustration, and my inability to get you to understand the history you don’t know.

You want to know why so many smart people want to enslave people like you?
Because your games byu other means makes such seem like a satisfying thing.

Even worse… I could have been the kind of person watching you playing with a hornets nest and rather than give you a real warning as I am doing, I would just say. I wouldn’t do that. It’s a fun way that smart people get others to entertain them. but I am not a sadist that way, I have no hang ups, grudges, childhood bs to get over….

The farmer would let you keep playing while they watched.
And when the inevitable happens when danger and ignorance combine
Laugh at your requiring him to prove to you before you would listen!!!

I am different.. I would explain it to you, distracting you from playing with them
I would tell you what can happen. and I am going to tell you about history to learn from
And the same ignorant dumb ass will have another reason that this help was no good too

But unlike the person who wants to be appreciated.
I will feel no pleasure at the outcome, I could care less if you liked me at all after
I cared that you had the information to make a wise choice
[or that you might have better information to change mine. but wont happen either]

I must have missed it. When did any of us ask you to teach us anything?

    I must have been mistaken…
I thought you didn’t want to be stung by the hornets
When you don’t know what a sting is or what a hornet is

    My bad
You keep thinking hornets are something else
And you keep thinking that when you get that nest open your going to eat honey

    And I will be ok…

My knowledge and stuff already helps me
It helped my family… it can help strangers…

But some people have to play with the hornets nest to learn
I am assuming that your one of them…

Good luck playing the “great game”…

let me know if you figure out where to look… 🙂

  37. “”Ah I see…. hey all, do you all agree with GB?””
    Artldgr

I’ll admit i get kinda weary of the Art the Oracle speil that swears obsessive compulsivness towards history can make the future utterly knowable for the first time….in history.

  38. Obama is ridiculous. I remember hearing him saying the bamboozled and hoodwinked stuff, and I cringed. It sounded so lame coming from him. Like he was tryin’ to be all bad ass and stuff, he just sounded like a dork trying too hard. But then, I’m not his audience.

  39. Yesterday I heard Glenn Beck talking about this on the radio. He said, “Can you imagine the mockery and ridicule if Sarah Palin had made that ‘okey-doke’ remark?”

  40. I’ll admit i get kinda weary of the Art the Oracle spiel that swears obsessive compulsiveness towards history can make the future utterly knowable for the first time….in history.

There is nothing new under the sun: there are but repeating patterns; nor is there evolution: what worked on mankind in Eden, works on him now. If everything is new and the old is irrelevant, there is no point reading the Dialogs of Socrates, the Prince, or the Art of War: man has evolved; principles are only good for the moment; and Shakespeare does not apply to the modern man. If you will not pay attention to history, you are doomed to rewalk the ancient patterns.

  41. Rel Real White Patriot

I wonder if Leftists like him ponder what it means when they post such garbage and are soundly rejected by all.

    I suspect not.

  42. By “run the okey-doke on you”, could your Beloved Leader have meant “run the rope-a-dope* on you”?
The naughty Republicans, perhaps, are goading the President’s noble supporters into throwing too many tiring but ineffective punches.

    * Muhammad Ali’s coinage for his tactic against George Foreman in their famous pugilistic contest in Zaire.

  43. As for hornswoggle, the MSNBC reporter apparently misheard. The video of Obama’s speech shows an audience member suggesting another word, after Obama’s bamboozle and hoodwink, but the senator doesn’t catch it: “Cornswogger?” he asks. “Is that what they’re doing?”

Which of course gives me an opportunity to quote Hedley Lamarr’s epic speech in Blazing Saddles:

I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.

  44. Artfldgr – Honestly, your comments are too long to be written in all lower case – it’s annoying to my old eyes to try to read it.

    Punctuation is your friend.

Brevity would be a better friend.

  45. I cringe when I hear the man who is President of the United States use language like this. It just seems so darn inappropriate for Obama to use slang. I don’t remember any president trying to stir up people like this.

  46. Is “artflddger” or whatever his pseudonym is just another name for “Lonewhacko”? The frothing, the insistence that HE knows how to get things done, coupled with the quite apparent powerlessness seem quite familiar.

  47. I am surprised, after reading 53 comments, that no one has remarked on how much Baraq speech resembles Jeremiah Wright’s. And how much his audience’s reception resembles that of Wright’s congregation.

  48. “Why you can’t even get drugs in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get prostitution in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get gambling in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!”

When you can’t even get a good education without studying with a passion.
When you can’t raise successful children without setting an example of morality, integrity, dedication.
When you can’t clean up your community without supporting the drug dealers, prostitutes, etc by not buying their wares.

I’m waiting for that speech from the President.

  49. “”I am surprised, after reading 53 comments, that no one has remarked on how much Baraq speech resembles Jeremiah Wright’s.””
    Tom

I’ve noticed in radio interviews and such of Obama from a few years ago that his speech pattern sounded quite diferently. Theres definitely an evolution into a more wavering cadence that smacks of a black evangelical.

  50. Artfldgr, you mean well; that’s clear. But your condescension — Geoffrey Britain was quite right — does not gain you readers. Nor do your attempts to insult people into action — when you yourself cannot be bothered to proofread your own spelling, grammar, punctuation, or capitalization.

(Normally we don’t raise that issue; you’ve explained before that this is very difficult for you. But your calls to arms ring very hollow indeed, when it’s clear that we are doing proofreading work that you’re not.)

There’s no question in my mind that you have a powerful (and important) message to deliver. But that message will fall on deaf ears if it is rambling, unproofread, and insulting to boot. (Neoneocon has occasionally done you the favor of condensing your messages, and has probably gotten you more readers thereby. But she shouldn’t have to do this for you.)

You can insist on writing the way you like to write, and bemoan the fact the hardly anybody listens to you. Or you can take the trouble to organize your thoughts and your words, express them simply (and uncondescendingly)… and then have people spend more time discussing your ideas, rather than the way you chose to express them. It’s your call.

    respectfully,
    Daniel in Brookline

  51. Daniel in Brookline: Your and Geoffrey B’s observations regarding Artfldgr’s attitude and posts have been raised countless times by many over the past 2 to 3 years. I for one refuse to do the editing and organizing that he refuses to do. To hell with that. Of course, the trend is that after the emergence of a slew of complaints he’ll tone down things and clean up his posts a little. But, within a few days he’ll be back to his usual stuff.

He lost me as a reader a long time ago. It’s just very easy to scroll over his too long, disorganized, unedited rambles. And, I’m not missing a time by doing so.

  53. “you want to be here to hear GB make up stuff?”

Please substantiate your claim that I make ‘stuff’ up.

“Seems to me that this pig doesn’t like to be taught to sing, and so the pig is being very pissed at the situation calling upon him to do what he cant do (so he goes to annoy me).”

Labeling me a ‘pig’, even metaphorically is crossing the line. When have I ever called you, any name?

“Why are you here at all GB? To be a Hux?”

Disagreement as to view is my right is it not? Your implied denial of it and your attempt to categorize me as a “Hux’ is quite revealing.

    “I have a very good idea GB…”

No, you don’t and labeling me a Hux reveals that your emotions and ego are interfering with an objective evaluation.

“Why don’t you take one of those posts you don’t like, and then show me how to do it sine your so superior. Or are you a critic? You know, one of those people who spend their time in armchair critiques of others to prevent others from looking too closely at you and all that you lack? Go ahead smarty…”

I’m not the one claiming to be superior, you are and, attempting to paint me with the brush that applies to you is ironically, exactly what neo’s post concerns. Falsely labeling a response to your denigration of Daniel and my comments as being a ‘critic’ is disingenuous.

Look at me all you want and being human, of course I ‘lack’ certain qualities, as do you. I’m not the one however, whose nose gets out of joint when criticized. In my experience, you always do and clearly illustrate someone who can dish it out but can’t take it.

“I CHALLENGE you. I challenge you to put up or shut up!!!!”

I just did. Or do you require meeting at dawn with single shot pistols, to satisfy your ‘honor’?

“Yes. Which if I was asking for advice in such a situation with someone I actually have access to and have a relationship with that might be great. But given we are talking about POTUS… your answer is freaking inane for everyone but senators, representatives, cabinet members, Gibbs, the press corps, and assorted on camera talking heads!!!”

I was talking about just those people and how they might respond to Obama’s disingenuous. Which anyone reading the post and comments would understand. Falsely assigning me a claim to what I would personally do in such a situation is transparently disingenuous. Which makes your response the inane one.

As for showing my ‘chops’… just making a comment isn’t a reliable indicator of a desire to show off but your assuming it does, says much about you.

“Let me first show you something as to how you think and how I think..
Your self focused ego assumes I have a self focused ego…”

A ‘self-focused ego’ is not my problem Artfldgr but clearly it is yours, as your own words confirm it for the fair-minded reader.

“So you see what I am saying is “failure to appreciate”
When what I am saying is “failure to understand””

When someone uses semantics as rebuttal they reveal an inability to respond.

“The funny part is you don’t get that your problem is that I don’t want to be loved, appreciated, feared, or anything along those puerile ego reasons.”

Of course you do, ego frequently crops up in your missives and only self denial prevents you from acknowledging it, otherwise your frequent ‘put downs’ of others, when they’ve done nothing to offend and, your intimations that only you KNOW what’s really going on… would stand out as self-evident beacons for the need for self-analysis.

“I want people to understand the history so that they can make better choices and be more effective in their lives, and what I get is an adult who acts like a 14 year old smart ass who thinks it’s great to prevent others from learning, and to foul up his own edification with ego games.”

All I did was object to a put down and illustrate through sarcasm, the underlying implications of your derogatory comments toward Daniel and I, when we weren’t even addressing you.

Claiming my motivation to be that of a ’14 yr old smartass’ who seeks to prevent others from learning (from the great fount of acumen that you are) and. who does so out of ego games is ludicrous to anyone familiar with my and your comments. I applaud any effort to offer insight, historical or otherwise, to expose and counter the negatives the left is attempting, it’s your insistence that only your view has value wherein our disagreement lies.

“You don’t get that if I lie to you, you will appreciate me more”

You keep telling yourself that garbage and you’ll never learn from others, only from the readings which align with your beliefs and their filters.

“On some level I am [would be] lying abut my feelings, frustration, and my inability to get you to understand the history you don’t know.”

I’ve never asked you to lie nor would I, I don’t even need you to be polite, I do object to your being needlessly derisive of others comments. Is that really so much to ask?

If it is, then you’re the one with the ego problem, not I.

I’m quite willing to learn history I don’t know, I am unwilling to unthinkingly accept your conclusions as to the relevance and connections of that history to our present circumstances.

“I have no hang ups, grudges, childhood bs to get over…”

Everyone has issues Artfldgr and, such a claim reveals a remarkable degree of self-denial.

“I must have been mistaken…I thought you didn’t want to be stung by the hornets”

Warn us all you want and believe it or not it will be and is appreciated. I’ve never claimed you had nothing of value to contribute or even that it might not be of great value.

My only problem with you Artfldgr is your frequent and condescending air when putting down others views, categorizing them as unsophisticated ignorance which, whether they are or not is uncalled for and counter-productive. There’s no need to be insulting to people who are often sympathetic to your views… is there?

“But some people have to play with the hornets nest to learn I am assuming that your one of them…”

We all have our lessons to learn, which includes you. Do you have any idea what they might be? Or is a man with “no issues” above all that?

  54. I have to step away from this thread for a few hours, I’ll return to check on any response but I’ve said what I have to say and see nothing to be gained in engaging in what is certain to devolve into argument.

I do wish Artfldgr well and appreciate his view, I simply disagree with some of his conclusions and object to the issues mentioned above.

  55. On Malcolm X:

The great tragedy of his life was that he was murdered when he started to mature and become conciliatory. He was killed to deliberately freeze him in time. The Malcolm X that African Americans celebrate is not the man he was becoming, but the man he was rejecting. That African Americans are tolerant or even admiring of the chief architect of his murder — Louis Farrakhan — while celebrating the false Malcolm X is an indictment of the African American community as an aggregate. Maybe someday they will feel the sting of shame and deign to join the greater American community.
