Obama lied, the press sighed
Hey, even if Karl Rove says it, it can still be true.
What’s Rove saying? That Obama is an arrogant liar.
You might ask what’s so strange about a politician lying? Don’t they all? (And I’m sure some would say, about Rove, “takes one to know one.”)
Well, there is a general tendency in the direction of politicians and what we might call deception. But since Obama makes a point of being a different sort of politician, his lies make him a supreme hypocrite as well.
I didn’t set out to write much about Obama this year, or about the election. I was initially unmoved by him either way; it was his antiwar policy and extremely liberal ratings that made it clear to me I wouldn’t be voting for him. As a person, I found him likable enough.
But as time has gone on I find myself more and more outraged by his shameless tactics and the disconnect between his rhetoric and his actions, although I also find him fascinating in his combination of audacity and subtlety.
Here’s Rove on the subject of an Obama lie he experienced personally:
I’m actually in [Obama’s] book. He wrote that “people like Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, Ralph Reed, and Karl Rove say we are a Christian nation.” And I did not say that. I confronted him about it. At the White House.
Q: And what did he say?
Well, first he denied that I was in the book! And then he denied that it said that I said that it was a Christian nation. And then when I pulled out the thing [he had a copy of the offensive page with him] and showed it to him, he sort of blah-blah-blah-blah-blah- blah-blah. And I thought, That’s who he is. I mean, look, he may claim that he’s for a different kind of politics, but that was a cheap shot. And I’m not certain if any of the four said it either. But it was like, you know, Let’s just strap it in there and see if it goes someplace.
Obama has had a relatively free ride from the press until very recently. Not only has he mostly been exempt from demands to account for his lies or his questionable relationships, but it doesn’t even seem to occur to him that he should have to account for them or that he would have to account for him.
Because, so far (even post-Wright), he’s never really been asked the hard questions by a significant portion of the press. He’s the teflon candidate.
Perhaps that’s changing, although I’ve thought that before and so far it hasn’t quite happened. His latest—and perhaps most easily refuted—lie is the one about John McCain’s “100 years in Iraq” comment. There have been some articles recently attempting to call Obama for egregiously misrepresenting what McCain said by ignoring the fact that McCain made it clear he was speaking of a presence there similar to the ones we’ve had for many decades in Korea or in Germany.
When even the Columbia Journalism Review criticizes Obama, maybe it’s different than just old Karl Rove saying it. We’ll see. Obama’s purposeful misrepresentations of his opponent’s position have certainly caught the attention of Zachary Roth, author of the CJR article:
To be clear, if Obama wants to take issue with McCain’s willingness to keep U.S. troops in Iraq for a hundred years in any capacity, that’s obviously his right. But that’s not the same as misleading voters about what McCain is proposing,
This matters. Obama has given every indication that his general election strategy on Iraq and foreign policy will be to portray McCain as dangerously bellicose. If he’s going to do so by distorting McCain’s words, the press should forcefully call him out on it each time.
Dream on, Mr. Roth. Although the press is in fact doing a bit of calling out of Obama on this, it’s hardly been given the sort of coverage it would have received if the same approach had come from Hillary or McCain.
One of those who have noticed Obama’s strategy is James Kirchick, assistant editor of TNR, who has taken Obama to task for it:
Any honest observer can see that McCain did not express support for a continued American presence in Iraq for the next century if it means exposing our soldiers to the carnage they witnessed throughout 2005 and still experience, albeit to a lesser degree, today.
But Obama is not an honest observer. He has proven himself to be a dishonest observer—albeit a clever one. Let’s hope the American media and the public are even more clever.
I’m no Karl Rove, but I’ve got a suggestion for the McCain campaign. If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee, run an ad showing him describing McCain’s words. And then show what McCain actually said. Perhaps this jujitsu move will use Obama’s own words to make clear the hollowness of his claim to political exceptionalism.
The moving lie writes,
And having writ repeats…..
The “100 years in Iraq” is a big lie that is now fully deployed in the body politic.
Nothing is going to stop it and nothing can extract it from the minds in which it has been lodged.
Denying it is necessary but ultimately futile.
The reason it is repeated is that it is one of the best arrows in the quiver.
Perhaps a face to face confrontation between Obama and McCain can roll it back a bit, but I don’t see that happening.
If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee, run an ad showing him describing McCain’s words. And then show what McCain actually said.
Excellent suggestion. If this is done, we know what some of the reactions from the Democratic side will be. This was “SWIFTBOATING” on the Republicans’ part. Or, Obama’s words were “TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.”
Obama speaks out of both side of his mouth, “You can disagree without being disagreeable”. Obama willing to take the fruits of not registering for the selective service, getting student loans and holding down a government job (US) Senator. This all in violation of U.S. Statutes requiring registration for the selective service (NOT SERVING IN MILITARY) but the laws not enforced! The numbers released on the amount of money given by people don’t match what is reported to FEC. THE MASS MEDIA GIVES HIM A FREE PASS ON LIES! I am an Independent and find McCain lies less.
Shocked at Obama’s press release $40 million last month given by people. Started checking with the Federal Election Commission on how many gave and how much through Feb. The figures given by Obams team don’t match the FEC. The average is $1690.00 per person not $50 or $93 why don’t the MASS MEDIA check out his facts or lies. I am Asian American, I see white citizens are willing to vote for white, black, asian where balcks 92% vote black. Then Obama contends that the typical white is racist. I don’t thik so, it is the black American that are racist! THE MASS MEDIA LET THIS LIES GO UNCHECKED!
Obama is just like the lefties who make their ad hominem attacks on conservatives on the blogosphere because they don’t expect to be fact checked. And they will ignore the evidence when confronted with the facts.
Just throw the charge out there. Once it has been repeated enough it then assumes the mantle of truth. It is the “Big Lie” propaganda technique of Goebbels. It has become so common that it is now accepted political practice. And the MSM is complicit in the game.
During the Clinton impeachment process it was a common thing to hear the democrat “talking points’ repeated over and over on TV, on radio talk shows, and in the newspapers. Bumper sticker slogans were tested for maximum effect in focus groups. Then they were repeated and repeated to give the slogans credibility.
The “Bush lied about the intelligence to take us into war in Iraq” is the most common Big Lie in the dem arsenal these days. Obama’s Big Lie about McCain’s intentions in Iraq is just the most recent. On radio and TV talk shows listen for the democrat talking points about McCain’s planning to fight in Iraq for 100 years. It will be repeated as a truism, even though it has been refuted.
Fortunately, there is google, there is video tape, and there are eyewitness accounts (Rove calling Obama on his assertion in his book) to counter the Big Lie technique. Unfortunately, most people still get their news from the MSM and in that arena truth is seldom the goal.
“McCain says we’ll be in Iraq for a hundred years” reminds me of “Al Gore says he invented the internet.” Both are distortions of true statements for political gain. Who’s surprised about that?
Thank goodness for the swift boat factor — the right to present compelling evidence, regardless of the popularity of such evidence.
kungfu Says:
““McCain says we’ll be in Iraq for a hundred years” reminds me of “Al Gore says he invented the internet.” Both are distortions of true statements for political gain. Who’s surprised about that?”
Not me… but when I drop the internet jab about Gore with conservative friends we all wink and nod (we know it’s not true, it’s just a funny line)… whereas a bunch of liberals hanging out actually throw the McCain line around…. and they buy it (I’ve heard them)… and that doesn’t surprise me either….
Thomas,
Yes, you and I know these are distortions, but what about “Joe Voter”? There are just too many people who will vote based on that one line. How many mostly disengaged voters voted against Gore in 2000 because he came off as a pompous blow-hard? That “funny line” had power. The same holds true here. How many might vote against McCain because he wants “100 years in Iraq”? The distortions are intended for people who pay little attention to details and latch on to a sound bite as a reason for their vote.
Here’s another one for you? How many people won’t vote for Obama simply because he has a funny name? I can just hear it now. McCain, now that sounds American. I’m voting for him. Obama, that doesn’t sound American. My guess is Obama won’t win a general election with that funny name, and you’ve already got bloggers playing up his funny name… not to mention his middle name. Let’s face it, there are enough unsophisticated voters out there who fall for all this nonsense. There are no surprises here.
Kungfu defends Obama’s “100 years” distortion as necessary political gamesmanship.
Such gamesmanship must be viewed in light of the larger picture: Obama is all gamesmanship and no game. He has no substance. He has no bedrock. He is fancifully erected upon shifting sand. I like “erected”, as his sex appeal seems a factor in this election. In the place where Obama’s principles and values should be, where his guts and his heart should be, where his rock-solid conviction about what exists in life “up with which he will not put” should be, there is: NOTHING. Cotton candy, maybe. But no more.
no time to comment now… sorry. but do a search for this.. and while not directly on topic, should be a bit of an opener.
THE UNBEARABLE FLEXIBILITY OF BELIEFS: SCANDINAVIAN FELLOW TRAVELERS
By: Lennart Sjé¶berg
Abstract
This paper is about the political psychology of opportunism and risk denial. The concept of fellow travelers is applied to the analysis of four Scandinavian writers (three of them very well-known locally) who traveled to Nazi Germany in the 1930’s and the People=s Republic of China (PRC) during the Cultural Revolution. Their writings are analyzed for the distortions of reality they depicted, often quite glaring. In most cases, the admiration they expressed for totalitarian and brutal regimes was connected with a rejection of their own culture, in spite of the fact that they had reached very prominent positions in their home countries and were, in three cases, invested with considerable power. The cases are discussed from a social psychological standpoint, on the presumption that understanding the sort of evil propaganda practiced by some prominent members of a democratic country should be of some aid towards promoting human dignity.
A fellow traveler is a person who openly endorses significant aspects a totalitarian regime, without being committed in the sense of being an active member of a Nazi or communist party.
I’m not defending Obama. I don’t support Obama. I’m just surprised that you’re surprised. Go back and look at the TV ads from Bush and Kerry in 2004. They are all filled with distortions aimed at the lowest instincts of voters. So how is it news that Obama’s campaiqn won’t do the same.
As one who thirty years ago was a “fellow traveler” I can attest to the fact that it was the experience of seeing lies piled on top of lies piled on top of lies that could no longer tolerate. And that meant that I was not a useful idiot.
People like Obama have no honor. None. Zero. Zippo. If he were to play his shuck and jive and his slandering style around most decent guys, at some point if they didn’t ignore him they give him an **s beating he’d never forget.
It really bothers me, speaking as a former Leftist, that so many people are so credulous that they will not deign to fact-check or think deeply about the issues. And they are so easily led down the path to perdition by moral reprobates like this man.
Obama’s two books are a public record that his campaign will have trouble getting beyond.
It is Obama’s basic emptiness–yearning to be filled by Jeremiah Wright and similar others–that is most disturbing. When he is president, who will fill the empty Obama?
He has a nice voice — and apparently at least some capacity for life-long learning, or further ‘intellectual growth’ — however to term it.

Thomas,
“Yes, you and I know these are distortions, but what about “Joe Voter”? There are just too many people who will vote based on that one line. How many mostly disengaged voters voted against Gore in 2000 because he came off as a pompous blow-hard? That “funny line” had power. ”
Well, neo’s commercial idea could be a devastating response… as to Gore, he wasn’t the pompous blowhard yet / back in 2000. He used to be a nice guy and a moderate… I didn’t even vote in 2000 since I didn’t care which person won (I thought both were ok).
I didn’t even vote in 2000 since I didn’t care which person won (I thought both were ok)
I was like whatever
me too =)
I remember the last years of the Clinton presidency when it was a given that Saddam was a dangerous man with weapons of mass destruction. It was a given that he would not cooperate with the UN weapons inspectors, no one pretended otherwise. Now people act as if Bush invented the entire situation. The disconnect with reality is alarming.
I can even remember Bill Richardson talking about connections between Saddam and AlQaida and citing the embassy bombings in Africa as an example of that connection. Now today Bill Richardson would call anyone else who made those same remarks a liar.
That is the scary thing about Obama and his supporters, their ability to reshape and revise history to suit themselves.
BTW, where is he getting all this money? I mean if the economy is in the toilet and this is the Great Depression 2, how can all these people come up with with this kind of money?
Unless of course the Democrats have become the party of the rich.
Im with Gringo, Neo. Excellent suggestion. To bad McCain has so far opted not to fight back.
I heard McCain say today that what Obama said he said was not true. The fact that he has not lost that famous temper of his does not mean he is not fighting back.
My instincts about how to judge Barack Obama are honed not just from my intellectual formation and evolution. There is another side of my life that I think has played a positive role in reinforcing the lower middle class, working values that I grew up with. I played ice hockey well into adulthood. Some of you will say what you will about what you think of us hockey players (you think we’re knuckledragging rustics), but the vast majority are honorable men. We understand MEN and character. And personal honor/dishonor. You cannot hide who you really are by the way you play the game, treat your team mates, and how you even respect your opponents. There are ways of behaving that are beyond the Pale, that mark you as a low character.
Obama’s the kind of guy we don’t respect, and it has absolutely nothing to do with race. I believe even educated men should say what they mean and mean what they say. You don’t smear others; and you don’t embellish outrageously in order to make yourself look better than you actually are.
Shame on the elites in media, journalism, and in academia who will not step up to the plate and hold someone accountable and do their due diligence. This year’s presidential primary race has caused me to respect the mainstream media even less than I already did (if that is even possible, given how low I held them).
“Obama lied, people died.”
There is only one way to prevent this, and that is to prevent him from being elected President. We should not accept any candidate who lies so shamelessly.
not to mention his middle name. Let’s face it, there are enough unsophisticated voters out there who fall for all this nonsense. There are no surprises here.

What?! Obama has a middle name!?
What is it? Can you tell us?
@ kungfu:
How many mostly disengaged voters voted against Gore in 2000 because he came off as a pompous blow-hard? That “funny line” had power
ROTFL! “Pompous blowhard” is the FIRST line that comes to me when I think of Al Chickengreen Gore. Al Chickengreen Gore’s mansion in Nashville uses more electricity in a month than the average household uses in a year. In contrast with Al Chickengreen Gore, I use AC about 12 hours a year, while I live in a climate with 3+ months of highs above 90, my electricity comes from wind power, and I similarly keep a cold house in the winter. So yes, Al Chickengreen Gore IS a pompous blowhard. Do as I say, not as I do.
>i>“Joe Voter”? There are just too many people who will vote based on that one line.
Jow Voter stopped mattering when we stopped giving our money to candidates and started giving them to party.
the vote in america was always about the end of game tie, not about who would be the leader.
when individuals get the money, then the one that can run best is the one that is liked best and so forth…
but when the parties get it, you always get vegetables. oh, you have a choice between lima beans and carrots, but either choice is a vegetable.
there is no way to get something else other than the vegetables since the party selects that.
the votes were to work out which of the ones that were liked enough to be known enough by many shoule be the one that leads.
given that vegetables are considered yucky most people just take the only option left, they go hungry and dont participate since their choice is not on the menu.
kungfu: I think you may have missed my point, so let me repeat it:
You might ask what’s so strange about a politician lying? Don’t they all? (And I’m sure some would say, about Rove, “takes one to know one.”)
Well, there is a general tendency in the direction of politicians and what we might call deception. But since Obama makes a point of being a different sort of politician, his lies make him a supreme hypocrite as well.
At least Obama’s in the running for the perfect empty suit. He’s even got the perfect Blank Slate mind, complete with the instantaneous Joe Stalin eraser.
Iow, he’s the Prog’s perfect tool.
I think that McCain is trying to *not* address his probable adversaries. And I don’t know how the last poll went but it seems to me that Obama is more different than McCain than McCain and Hillary. So to get the swing vote that might help if he faces Obama.
And the hard shots? Best they come after Obama has the nomination than before.
Physically though, McCain vs. Obama is going to be tough because McCain looks old (he really does, even if he’s healthy) and has a squeaky little voice… and Obama is tall and while I don’t think he’s handsome, he is… tall… and has this wonderful deep voice that just sounds like you want to trust him.
Obama learned that all you needed to gain political power was to lie and manipulate people. Such people looked at George Bush’s 2 terms of President and said to themselves, “hey, if this guy lied and got voted back in by the Americans, then why can’t I get the same deal”. And even if Bush didn’t lie, then the ones saying he lied lied. Thus the same lesson is learned by people like Obama. Democrats got power in 2006 by lying. Bush got two terms by lying. Bill Clinton got out of jail time and serious punishment by lying. Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame got out of being executed by lying.
After awhile, people start realizing that honesty is no virtue. Honesty doesn’t give you any benefit. After all, in 2002, 2003, and 2004, not many people were willing to admit that they think Bush lied. They were waiting. They were waiting to see whether charges of lying would be beneficial to the accuser.
It used to be that lying was detrimental to you because it made people distrust you in a day and age where a man’s world was like his driver’s license, vehicle registration, and property deed. You could live without such items, but your life would be far harder and more inconvenient.
If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee, run an ad showing him describing McCain’s words. And then show what McCain actually said. Perhaps this jujitsu move will use Obama’s own words to make clear the hollowness of his claim to political exceptionalism.
That’d require someone be well versed in the crafting and launching of propaganda on the Republican side. I won’t hold my breath on that score.
This combination of audacity and subtlety, arrogant lies and charm more and more reminds me a personage of Gogol’s comedy “General Inspector”, named Khlestakov.

… and Obama is tall and while I don’t think he’s handsome, he is… tall…
Seen him in person while he was in Oregon. His entourage made an unschedualed stop right across the street from me. He’s not tall at all when viewed against a crowd. His thinness creats that illusion.
I think the use of the word ‘lied’ is excessive in this case. He did say “people like Rove’ after all. I generally agree with most of what you write neo (except the Juno review) but I think it is important that we be restrained in dealing with the opposition. Obama’s real mistake here is making a misleading generalization. We need leaders who can look beyond generalizations and think clearly about what needs to be done now. We need to hold both Republicans and Democrats to a stern standard of honesty about the problems we now face.

i posted somewhere on the site (though dont know if they were kept) the link between obama and his “uncle” odinga in africa. the uncle was a communist, that started a school with russian money, then within weeks of it opening took over the government and ousted a democratic state.
we know of his connection to wright, farrakhan, as well as islamic schools in indonesia (of which he was in the more extreme sects that did so not in indonesia, but arabic).
then there are the 54 socialist programs, the 800 billion hit to americans to give their money away in programs where they can be stolen. like the programs in rwanda, and iraq. or even like christine quinns democratic program to create 30 front charity orgs, get them budget monies and then use that for her own pork projects!! love them dems, no?
now if that isnt interesting enough… and all the other things we already can list out, this is just another drop that seems to be a leak in the roof during a monsoon.
(OBAMA’S COUSIN LINKED TO WANTED CHILD TRAFFICKER)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4006945.stm
Kenyan police allege the Gilbert Deya Ministries is an international baby-snatching ring and have asked the British government to extradite Mr Deya.
They say their investigation revolves around the disappearance of babies from Nairobi’s Pumwani Maternity Hospital and involves suspects in Britain, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya.
In September they took 20 of Mr Deya’s “miracle babies” into care in Nairobi after they were found to have no genetic link to the women claiming to be their mothers.
The pastor denies involvement in child trafficking and his lawyer says his client will not receive a fair trial if he is extradited to Kenya.
Gilbert Deya is now based in Glasgow and is claiming political asylum in Scotland.
Obama supported his Kenyan cousin’s (Raila Odinga) bid for the Presidency of Kenya! Obama’s ISLAMO-FASCIST cousin is now linked to the child-trafficker mentioned in the article above (see links below).

53.)I Barely Know Rezko – Only 5 Billed Hours – LIAR, you have known him for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage problems started. Then Rezko’s wife buys the lot beside it that you can’t afford, saving you $625,000.
54.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly – LIAR, you only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko (first $66K, then when caught lying $86K, then when caught lying again $150K and now caught lying YET AGAIN OBAMA, it’s $250k) their money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.
55.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church – LIAR, your church is so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the year.
56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time – LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message – hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK – that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.
57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko – LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Seems Mr. Auchi may have helped Obama buy his million dollar property long before Obama had millions of dollars. Wonder what favors Mr. Auchi expects, when Obama leaves Iraq free to be taken over by special interests such as him.
58.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright’s, that have been in videos all day, You Tube – LIAR! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa BS speech you said “Did I hear controversial statements while I sat in that church? Yes I did.”
59.) The Passport Invasion is a conspiracy to find dirt on me! – LIAR. Your own Campaign Foreign Policy Advisor is the CEO of the company that looked into your records. PS – You had them look into yours to hide the fact you looked into Clinton’s and McCain’s more than a year before!
60.) Rev. Meeks has nothing to do with my campaigning – LIAR. Rev. Meeks appeared in ads for your Senate Campaign, donated to you, and helped raise money, then AND NOW. PS – He also seems to despise America.
61.) My wife didn’t mean America is ignorant, she was just using a phrase – LIAR. Again, MicHELLe’s comments perfectly sync with Wright’s, Meeks’, and Farrakhans, both in language, anger, and direction.
62.) I am very Anti-Terror – LIAR. [03/30/2008] One of your good pals is long time radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed khalidi, Professor at Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS – Your church published a pro Hamas Manifesto – guess you weren’t there on THAT Sunday either? How lucky for you.
63.) I have the best plan to cure the Mortgage Crisis – LIAR. [03/30/2008] You and your campaign buddy Penny SubPrime Bank Collapse Prizker have had your little fingers full of subprime cash – Obama has taken $1,180,103 from the top issuers of subprime loans: Obama received $266,907 from Lehman, $5395 from GMAC, $150,850 from Credit Suisse First Boston, $11,250 from Countrywide, $9052 from Washington Mutual, $161,850 from Citigroup, $4600 from CBASS, $170,050 from Morgan Stanley, $1150 from Centex, and last but certainly NOT LEAST – Obama received $351,900 from Goldman Sachs. I am sure that cash all came from folks who knew the subprime loan they had was a dream, eh?
64) I played greater role in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion – LIAR – [03/31/2008] It was found that Obama – the day after sitting for the interview – filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer. Read Obama had greater role on liberal survey
65) I did NOT play the race card: – LIAR – [03/31/2008] Obama was the first to play the race card. According to Phialdelphia Inquirer, Quietly, the storm over the hateful views expressed by Sen. Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has blown away the most insidious myth of the Democratic primary campaign. Obama and his surrogates have charged that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has deliberately and cleverly played the race card in order to label Obama the “black” candidate. Read more here
66) I did not take money from oil companies: – LIAR – [03/31/2008]
THE FACTS: True enough, Obama does not take money from oil companies. No candidate does. It is illegal for corporations to give money to politicians. Corporations, however, do have political action committees that collect voluntary donations from employees and then donate them to candidates. Obama doesn’t take money from PACs. He also doesn’t take money from lobbyists.
But he does accept money from executives and other employees of oil companies and two of his fundraisers are oil company executives. As of Feb. 29, Obama’s presidential campaign had received nearly $214,000 from oil and gas industry employees and their families, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Clinton had received nearly $307,000 from industry workers and their families and Republican Sen. John McCain, the likely GOP presidential nominee, received nearly $394,000, according to the center’s totals.
Two of Obama’s fundraisers are Robert Cavnar, the chairman and chief executive of Houston-based Mission Resources Corp., and George Kaiser, the president and CEO of Tulsa-based Kaiser-Francis Oil Co. Source: Associated press via Yahoo News
67) “I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial,” Obama said at a community meeting in Nelsonville, Ohio, earlier this month. – LIAR – But yesterday, he told a different story. “Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes,” he said in his speech yesterday in Philadelphia.
68) Look at my education record in Illinois – LIAR – In reality, Obama never really championed the local councils. He supported them behind the scenes and only eventually came out publicly on their behalf. When he did weigh in, he came down on the wrong side of the debate–against protecting principals from unwarranted dismissals and in favor of keeping councils independent, no matter what. In the end, the resolution of the conflict between the two sides didn’t alleviate anyone’s concerns. Instead, it prolonged a turf battle that seems to have dragged down academic progress in the years since. Read more here http://www.slate.com/id/2188010?wpisrc=newsletter
Well, I guess that about finishes off Obama! 😉
Never trust a democrat. For 20 years the democrats had their heads up the butt of BJ and Hill so far there was never a requirement for a colon exam. Now they have a new god and like a rabid Pit Bull they are taking chunks out of the same butts they hid their heads in. Loyal and patroitic they are not, ask BJ and Hill about Bill Richardson, they’re one time favorite Mexican.
Right off the bat, let me say that I am no Obama supporter. I don’t trust him, or virtually any other politician. The system has been twisted so that it is virtually impossible to maintain any significant status or power unless you are corrupt. If one of the very few who happens to be honest at the political starting gate manages to exist, that person will most likely slip deeper and deeper into corruption the longer they play the political game.
When it comes to Mccain, you should do some research too. He claims we need a change of direction only because Bush’s policies are no longer popular. When they were, it was a bragging point. He voted with Ol’ W. 90% of the time. So he wants a 10% change?
Worse yet, the reason he hasn’t made an issue out of Obama’s birth certificate fiasco, is because he lives in a glass house, and is throwing no stones. Mccain claims to have been born in a hospital on an American base in Panama; however, the order to build that hospital was not even given until December 1942. Mccain claims his birthday is August 29, 1936. I’m no math wiz- but come on. He’s a liar as well. He was not born on American soil either, and is also not eligible to run for president. There is a large list of worse things, but I am not trying to hack on either Obama or Mccain- I am just pointing out that neither candidate is trust worthy- AGAIN. So where does that leave our country? I’ll tell you where- where it has ALWAYS been. It is a wonderful nation that losses its amazing potential for yet another term. What did we expect?
What a sad waste.
It is now December 2, 2008 and everyone is coming around to understanding that Obama lied. “Change” was a lie from the beginning…
Obama, Rezko, Levine, Blagojevich should all get the same jail cell.
