My man Steve is endorsed by none other than Esquire
Steve Beren is one of the very few Washington State Republicans endorsed by Esquire.
Esquire says it’s a protest vote against opponent McDermott. But I think it’s really because of Beren’s sauve sartorial savoir faire:

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw…about a club for balding guys who shave their heads and grow goatees ’cause they think it looks cool. I guess if I was so afflicted, I’d consider doing that, too…
Steve Has my vote. As a long time Seattlelite now living abroad he is a welcome change to Jim McDermott. I send my absentee ballot today.
I followed your link to Esquire and had a good look. Some of their oh-so-clever-oh-so-smug comments make my skin crawl. But whaddaya expect?
Esquire casts a “protest” vote for Beren because they were outraged by McDermott’s claim that he believed Hussein was more credible on WMD than Bush.
What does the record show?
“There is only one truth and therefore I tell you as I have said on many occasions before that Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction whatsoever.”
—Saddam Hussein interview with BBC, Feb 4, 2003
“Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.”
—George W. Bush, address to the U.S., March 17, 2003
“Where is the outrage?,” indeed.
And what could be more Seattle than a reformed Trotskyite running as the Republican candidate?
