Surrogate presidents Musk versus Hunter — 25 Comments

  1. I’d like to know if the White House security footage for the week before that mysterious baggie of cocaine was discovered is available.

Or was it destroyed or recorded over?

  2. Left has forgotten ‘President‘ Valerie Jarrett already…

Anyway, if President Trump had been delegating authority like this the last time, then Biden would’ve never been president.

  3. LAWFARE: In an egregious and unconstitutional assault on executive authority, Judge Paul Engelmayer has unilaterally forbidden all of Trump’s political appointees—including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent—from accessing Treasury Department data. This ruling, concocted without legal precedent or constitutional justification, is nothing short of judicial sabotage. Worse, it was issued ex parte—meaning Trump administration lawyers weren’t given notice, weren’t allowed to argue, and weren’t even in the room. Only Democrat attorneys general were heard, ensuring a predetermined outcome.

Engelmayer’s order is legally indefensible. He cites no statutory basis because none exists. He offers no constitutional rationale because the Constitution directly contradicts him. Instead, he fabricates a fiction: that the duly appointed Treasury Secretary is nothing more than a ceremonial figurehead, akin to a powerless monarch, while unelected bureaucrats—who answer to no voters—control the nation’s finances. This is judicial tyranny masquerading as jurisprudence.

Go to the link and read all of it, there’s much more.

  4. Well Hunter is the smartest man FJB ever met, or sired for that matter.

Impeachment of Judges? John Roberts may want to wake up and realize what his approach to the law and the Constitution has fostered.

  5. Well, that’s Lindy Li’s perspective. I will not doubt it — I will not doubt that that is Li’s perspective — as I’m sure as h#ll not in a position to disagree.

But I’d be amazed if DOCTOR Jill wasn’t heavily involved in the running of the White House /slash/ country as well. But what the h#ll do I know?

  6. M J R:

I believe she was involved too. But I think in the last months that he was even more central. I certainly am not sure, however.

  7. sdferr, that ridiculous judicial ruling won’t stand long, and in fact, the Treasury Secretary should just ignore it. Bessent was appointed by the duly elected president and confirmed by the Senate. He is in charge at Treasury; underlings are not.

  8. Just mind boggling. Hunter is such a train wreck of a person, and the laptop fiasco is such a classic example of why drugs addicts can’t be trusted with much of anything.

  9. wait there’s more (like the old ginzu commercial) as you recall hunter’s employer burisma was headquartered in cyprus, so curiously the reporter that ‘uncovered’ the tell tale posts of one of elon’s employees katherine long, happens to have been an intern at state, dod, and aid, and one of her gigs was assistant to the US Ambassador there, (mike benz turned that up) furthermore other sources discovered when she worked at Business Insider, she used a Russian app for communications, maybe in a country that is swimming in Russian and Ukrainian cash, one might use an app like that, but it raises questions,

  10. Actually I’m skeptical but if Li is correct that Hunter was running things, it simply confirms just how dysfunctional and thus incompetent the left’s fanaticism has rendered them. However, Trump apparently listening to advice from those committed to failed policies is concerning.

  11. Democrats are pushing back, but not like in 2017.

I think the blatant Joe-Hunter-Kamala disaster has embarrassed many Dems. Some switched their votes in 2024. Some are too discouraged to do much at all.

Time to bring the hammer down so they don’t forget.

  12. Somewhat pertinent here: Understanding DOGE

It’s an actual federal agency, re-purposed by Musk, Trump, et al. (I’d thought it was just an outside, volunteer committee with no actual, official status. And maybe that was the original idea, but Trump’s team found a way.)

It’s possible the latter link was already provided by someone commenting at an earlier post by Neo. In which case: Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

  13. The Secretary of the Treasury is the Chief Financial Officer. If he cannot access the financial data of the United States, how can he authorize payments? This is a task that cannot be delegated to a career assistant under secretary or whatever.

Does this mean that those mean Democrats AGs and that judge don’t want the elderly to get their social security checks. What about the children with Medicaid? Or…. It would be interesting to see if Trump or Bondi mentions this possibility.

We have always suspected that there was a bunch of waste in the government and the Doge teams (which include employees of the department that is being audited) have located a fair amount of waste. The amount of money paid for programs which are no longer authorized by Congress is staggering and should be stopped. Someone must really want their money.

  14. Trump needs a constitutional showdown. Shithead judge just gave him one that is a slam dunk win. What an idiot. Judicial impeachment should follow.

  15. @ Liz; ‘…that judge don’t want the elderly to get their social security checks. What about the children with Medicaid? Or….”
and what about the pay check for that particular judge, too! 🙂
maybe it should be misfiled or delayed due to this ruling.

  16. Neo: fyi – just a few minutes ago I finally also experienced the “too many requests” error, along with some slower than usual responses.
Things now seem back to normal.

  17. Would the Democrats be OK if Trump was doing the investigations himself instead of his agents?

“When you start getting flak, it means that you’re over the target.”

  18. Why, no matter what, do some people attach evil motives to anything connected with Ukraine?

    It is a feature.

  19. Trump needs a constitutional showdown.

    Chases Eagles:

    I think that’s the plan.

Trump and his team have gamed this out shockingly well. They want Dems to launch lawsuits which will go all the way to the Supreme Court.

Guess which side has the majority in the Court….
