Surrogate presidents Musk versus Hunter
The left is all worried and outraged that Elon Musk, appointed by Trump as an advisor and “special government employee” – with a security clearance – is informing Trump on government waste, and making recommendations. Although it’s Trump making the decisions, the narrative is that Elon Musk is the real “unelected” president, a foreigner and a multi-billionaire.
So, now that they can’t say that Trump is an illegitimate president since he won so handily, they’ve pivoted to the story that Trump, that tremendous autocrat and wannabee dictator, isn’t really in charge and instead it’s Musk who is an illegitimate president running the show.
I don’t know how many people are buying this tale, but I can guarantee that some are. I very much doubt, however, that the people in the MSM who write these things believe them.
Meanwhile, the MSM isn’t all that curious to know who ran the Biden White House all those years that Joe was cognitively compromised. They don’t seem all that interested in this sort of report [hat tip: commenter “Barry Meislin]:

Li alleges that, following Biden’s disastrous debate drubbing, Hunter essentially took over White House operations. Speaking with podcaster Shawn Ryan, she painted a picture of dysfunction at the highest levels of government: “After the [CNN] debate, Hunter basically commandeered the White House. He sat in on all of the White House top-level meetings. We had a former cocaine addict sitting in on the most sensitive meetings of the most consequential and most important government in world history. Does that sit right with you?”
Ryan’s immediate reaction—“No”—reflected what many are surely thinking.
“Without security clearance mind you,” Li added.

Having created a cartoon of Trump in their minds, they’re no longer able to discern the real Trump. So Time made a magazine cover with Musk as President, and then a journalist asked Trump to react, because the cartoon version of Trump would have got jealous and got rid of Musk. Absurd.

sdferr, that ridiculous judicial ruling won’t stand long, and in fact, the Treasury Secretary should just ignore it. Bessent was appointed by the duly elected president and confirmed by the Senate. He is in charge at Treasury; underlings are not.
Just mind boggling. Hunter is such a train wreck of a person, and the laptop fiasco is such a classic example of why drugs addicts can’t be trusted with much of anything.

Actually I’m skeptical but if Li is correct that Hunter was running things, it simply confirms just how dysfunctional and thus incompetent the left’s fanaticism has rendered them. However, Trump apparently listening to advice from those committed to failed policies is concerning.
Democrats are pushing back, but not like in 2017.
I think the blatant Joe-Hunter-Kamala disaster has embarrassed many Dems. Some switched their votes in 2024. Some are too discouraged to do much at all.
Time to bring the hammer down so they don’t forget.

The Secretary of the Treasury is the Chief Financial Officer. If he cannot access the financial data of the United States, how can he authorize payments? This is a task that cannot be delegated to a career assistant under secretary or whatever.
Does this mean that those mean Democrats AGs and that judge don’t want the elderly to get their social security checks. What about the children with Medicaid? Or…. It would be interesting to see if Trump or Bondi mentions this possibility.
We have always suspected that there was a bunch of waste in the government and the Doge teams (which include employees of the department that is being audited) have located a fair amount of waste. The amount of money paid for programs which are no longer authorized by Congress is staggering and should be stopped. Someone must really want their money.
Trump needs a constitutional showdown. Shithead judge just gave him one that is a slam dunk win. What an idiot. Judicial impeachment should follow.
