Republicans projected to control the House — 17 Comments

  1. But will the GOP reps vote en block?
    (Or are we back to “herding cats”…?)
    – – – – – – –
    In other—SURPRISING!— news, the Democrats tried to repeat their 2020 election fortifying MAGIC… but came up short.
    Look at the vertical blue line in the chart linked to below ….
    https://instapundit.com/683996/

    Yep, “too big to rig…”

  2. My District in CO, 8, flipped. Which I find amazing. It is a new district, created 2 yrs ago. Dem took it first time.

  3. There’s that old Milwaukee magical fortification, showing.

    Now: The Senate Leader. McConnell is up to his usual vicious trickery trying to rig Thune for the position, with Cornyn in his back pocket for backup. Needs to be Rick Scott.

  4. I am grateful that we “control” all aspects of this coming government. But, we must be realistic about the power of the “other side”. They will continue to attack us on all sides for many years to come. They cannot just “walk away” from being communists, and they have gotten so used to controlling all elements of the federal government.

  5. Looks like the final breakdown will be 222 – 213 give or take a seat. A little disappointing considering Trump’s popular vote margin. But it’s certainly better than losing. The house will be very hard to hold in 2026.

  6. Will remain optimistic for now – cutting Pres ‘n Senate ‘n House more slack than they deserve; however, their (Pres ‘n Senate ‘n House) Modus Operandi is chaos, poor leadership, infighting, and a list too long to mention here.

    There have been recent signs of them all laying the ground work for catastrophe…

  7. I have to admit that I don’t understand the enthusiasm for Rick Scott. It’s only been since DeSantis has turned Florida ruby red that his own races for Governor and Senate have been anything other than nailbiters. His management of the NRSC in 2022 was a disaster (Hershel Walker, Kari Lake, Mehmet Oz, Blake Masters, etc.)

    I’m just not impressed. I fear that Schumer will run rings around him.

  8. Great news. Will be even better when they vote to fund the wall, and do more of Trump’s agenda.

    This Congress is a lot better for Trump and his agenda than the one from 2020. In fact, I’m now very glad Trump lost/ had the election stolen from him so more Americans get a bigger taste of the Democratic Fascism which has been coming from the Dems. (Still don’t believe that 81 million voters chose Biden, some 4-8 million ballots were not fully legal).

    As the economy gets better, and the world gets better, and the low paid Dem voters & ex-Dem voters see bigger real paychecks, it should not be so hard to keep the House in 2026.

    With JD Vance as one fine speaking Republican Presidential candidate, it’s plausible Reps win in 2028. Swapping out Pence for Vance was a huge America First win—was about to write Trumpist populist win.

    Saw a tweet suggesting that Trump do regular videos on X, similar to FDR’s fireside chats. Seems the kind of great idea, plus some X polling, to bypass Dem media. And help establish X as a political communication system, tho it might also be Truth Social, first. (Will Musk buy Truth Social?)

    See this Don Surber column, too, as I did after writing

  9. Bauxite

    REPs may end up regretting their move to force McConnell out…but I dunno.

    • Powerful and deep-pocketed forces in Texas claim Cornyn represents a return to establishment politics and is looking for a way to end his political power.

    • Thune can comfortably be characterized as an anti-Trump Republican. During the 2024 Republican primary race, he refused to endorse Trump’s candidacy, saying, “I’m hoping we have other options.”

    DC Republicans Are Gunning For A Chance To Control Trump’s Last Term…then there’s:

    • The members of Trump’s inner circle are supporting Scott’s bid. Lara Trump, RNC co-chair and Trump’s daughter-in-law, told Benny Johnson that Scott “would do an amazing job” as Senate Majority leader.

  10. sigh, if it wasn’t for mcconnell, this whole painful kabuki would have been ended long ago, he was part and parcel of the fraudulent January 6th witchhunt, he rewarded Murkowski who voted for most of the worst appointees, with tens of millions of dollars, over other worthier races,

  11. His management of the NRSC in 2022 was a disaster (Hershel Walker, Kari Lake, Mehmet Oz, Blake Masters, etc.)
    ==
    You’re not among people who are unaware that the NSRC is a fundraising outfit. It does not nominate candidates. (Only Walker among those four is an unsatisfactory candidate, btw).

  12. Bauxite is concerned, lets hope he doesn’t relapse back into CC™.
    ==
    They’re rotating him out.

  13. @Tom Grey;

    Oh, sweet summer child…

    The good news is that the GOP controls everything in DC.

    The bad news is that the GOP controls everything in DC.
