Kash Patel is the new FBI head
Patel has been confirmed by the Senate, and this time McConnell voted yes, and Collins and Murkowski voted no. When Pete Hegseth was confirmed, I wrote this post about Murkowski and Collins, and what I wrote there applies to the Patel vote as well. The summary version is that I cut Collins a lot of slack, but not Murkowski.
As for Patel, I can’t recall when I first became aware of him, or in what context. But he immediately impressed me as very sharp. Democrat hate and fear him, in part because they tried to destroy him and they know what vengeance they would wreak if they were in his shoes.
I see at Patel’s Wiki page that he helped write the Nunes memo back in Russiagate days. Well done, Kash.
If the GOP didn’t control the Senate by at least a few votes, Trump would not be getting any of his nominations through except Rubio and maybe a couple of others. Elections have consequences.
ADDENDUM: And Mitch McConnell won’t be running for re-election. Is there anyone on earth who’s sad about that?
Yeah, he was another favorite of mine. Try to keep up with the nominees approved and/or still awaiting approval – 6 left?

I think there were some senators who were helpful in taking the nominees around to meet everyone and get them prepared for the confirmation meetings. I think Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma was one of them.
I hope the GOP in Kentucky is smart because they have a relatively popular Democrat as Governor. Ran Paul and MAGA have to come up with a winner this time in Kentucky for the other Senate seat.
As far as Mitch, I won’t miss him or my Harvard Business School classmate, Elaine Chao, Mitch’s wife much either.
And Mitch McConnell won’t be running for re-election. Is there anyone on earth who’s sad about that?

I hope the R party is ramping up s very strong defense of McConnell’s seat. They cannot waste a minute searching for the best possible candidate to fill his seat! You can bet that the Dems have been working on filling this seat for at least a year. I hope the Republicans have been at least as astute and rigorous !
Here in MT we have one “official” who is looking way past the 2016 election to 2018 !
