Vetting Palin

The New Neo Posted on September 1, 2008 by neoSeptember 2, 2008

The WaPo takes on the rumor that Palin was insufficiently vetted, and appears to demolish it. My perception is that McCain was impressed from the first by Palin and was especially taken with her maverick, reformer quality, which he sensed … Continue reading →

And here’s the latest in pretzel-like contortions on the subject…

The New Neo Posted on September 1, 2008 by neoSeptember 1, 2008

Found in the comments section of Michele Catalano’s PJ article on the Palin baby brouhaha (links don’t seem to work, but the time stamp is 1:06 PM and it was written by “4Heavenssake”): The first baby was probably a C-section … Continue reading →

The campaign chess game

The New Neo Posted on August 30, 2008 by neoAugust 30, 2008

I’ve thought about this question myself: does Palin’s VP candidacy change Hillary’s calculus for 2012? I think it does. As Ms. Althouse says, it presents her with a conundrum: whose election would be best for Hillary? The way this campain … Continue reading →

Ayers and his revolutionary educational gameplan for America

The New Neo Posted on August 28, 2008 by neoAugust 28, 2008

Bill Ayers has been getting a lot of press lately for his connection to Obama and his status as “unrepentant terrorist” from the 60s. But forget about that for a while, and take a good look instead at the “rehabilitated” … Continue reading →

One reason a bitter primary campaign isn’t such a hot idea…

The New Neo Posted on August 26, 2008 by neoAugust 26, 2008

…is that affords an opportunity for the opposition to make ads like this one in the general: Everybody knows that, in a primary, candidates say nasty things about rivals in their own party. What’s to stop the other party’s nominee … Continue reading →

The New Neo Posted on August 14, 2008 by neoAugust 14, 2008

It’s official: neo-neocon is taking a vacation! A short one; I plan to return to blogging either this Sunday or Monday. But I’m going away today, and get this: I will not be taking my computer with me! I intend … Continue reading →

Russia and Georgia: more evidence that Churchill was correct

The New Neo Posted on August 9, 2008 by neoAugust 23, 2008

The violence in Georgia has most pundits stating that Russia is using heavy-handed tactics to keep Georgia and any other possible breakaway former territories firmly in its field of orbit and out of NATO (see this and this). In this … Continue reading →

The King has spoken

The New Neo Posted on August 4, 2008 by neoAugust 4, 2008

Noblesse oblige from the King. Now that it probably no longer matters. Typical.

RIP Solzhenitsyn

The New Neo Posted on August 4, 2008 by neoAugust 4, 2008

Aleksander Solzhenitsyn has died. Solzhenitsyn was an unusually strong-minded and uncompromising man who looked like an Old Testament prophet or Captain Ahab, and acted somewhat like both. Rest in peace.
