Epstein: the quarry is Trump
I was just reading an email from a reader who mentioned that the real target of the SDNY action against Epstein is Trump. Just as occurred with many of the prosecutions related to the Mueller investigation, the idea is to get the accused to turn on Trump in exchange for some sort of leniency.
Well, naturally. And even if Epstein himself doesn’t give them what they want, the press can report all sorts of rumors about it. The fact that Bill Clinton has a far greater paper trail that potentially implicates him in terms of Epstein is of no importance whatsoever to present-day Democrats, who consider him (and his wife, to a certain extent) as a Great White Albatross.
On, and another person connected with Trump who can be slammed (probably correctly, in this case) is Trump’s Secretary of Labor, Alexander Acosta, who years ago was the US Attorney instrumental in arranging the previous lenient deal that let Epstein off surprisingly lightly. What was that about?
I tried to find an article that attempts to explain the curious timing of all of this new flurry of intensity regarding prosecuting Epstein, and all I could find was this from CNN. Despite its promising title—“Why the Jeffrey Epstein charges came now, more than a decade later”—it ignores the elephant in the room, the desire to get Trump and/or his associates. The article basically fails to answer the question at all, except to say that a November 2018 spread in the Miami Herald by an investigative reporter was the likely spark. This certainly doesn’t seem to be an adequate explanation to me:
Instead of facing federal charges, Epstein pleaded guilty to two state prostitution charges in 2008 and served just 13 months in prison. He also registered as a sex offender and paid restitution to the victims identified by the FBI.
That arrangement came under intense scrutiny last November [2018] in a Miami Herald investigation that examined how it was handled by then-US Attorney Alexander Acosta, who now serves as labor secretary in President Donald Trump’s Cabinet.
The Herald investigation said that Acosta agreed not to file federal charges against Epstein despite an investigation identifying 36 underage victims. The agreement, the Herald said, “essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe” and further granted immunity to “any potential co-conspirators” in the case…
Authorities on Monday did not specifically mention the Herald’s work. But Berman praised the “excellent investigative journalism” that assisted their case, and FBI Assistant Director in Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. also cited unspecified reporting.
“When the facts presented themselves — as Mr. Berman hinted at — through investigative journalist work, we moved on it,” Sweeney said.
Former child abuse prosecutor Roger Canaff said that the Herald’s investigation brought a tremendous amount of public attention on this case.
As I connect the dots, there might be some genuine outrage at how relatively lightly Epstein got off, but far more important in terms of motive was the opportunity to distract the public and call its attention to Acosta, who had nothing to do with Trump at the time as far as I know but who now serves under him, and then potentially to Trump. That Clinton and others might be collateral damage is of no importance to them by now; he’s become a liability anyway.
[NOTE: More potential collateral damage that the left might welcome is none other than liberal-gone-off-the-reservation Alan Dershowitz, who was accused by an Epstein accuser. You can read about the case here, here, and here.]
[NOTE 2: I will add that in the Epstein case and in all such cases one should go on evidence only. Some of the accusers may be making false accusations, and even when the accusations are against people you may consider political enemies (such as Bill Clinton, for example), exactly the same rules of evidence should apply as when the accused are people you favor politically.]
[ADDENDUM: This is what Acosta has to say about the plea deal.]
And people wonder why I talk about human corruption and ego all the time… just look around you. See that? That’s why.
I also mentioned CPS, Child Protective custody, being a much bigger child trafficking ring. I am sure most people online ignored it.
They were too scared to have a single human thought about Epstein receiving 12 months of community club jail life.
They only talk about it now because the media has authorized them to think about it. Okay, free fire on Epstein!
Powerline blog for months-if not years- has wanted acosta gone Bec of this and his lack of conservative policies.
Acosta should certainly be terminated, but Barry Krischer, State’s Attorney in Palm Beach County, is probably equally culpable in the original miscarriage of justice. Conchita Sarnoff, who (along with Vicky Ward) has done more digging into the activities of the repulsive (and obviously guilty) Epstein then any other journalist, is convinced that Clinton is lying about his trips on the “Lolita Express”.
I find this noteworthy for what should be obvious reasons.
“The agreement, the Herald said, “essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe” and further granted immunity to “any potential co-conspirators” in the case…” [my emphasis]
Ymar,
I rather doubt that any here are unaware of the depth of human corruption and ego at play.
“They only talk about it now because the media has authorized them to think about it. Okay, free fire on Epstein!”
Please, it’s not that people here are dependent upon media ‘authorization’. It’s the media bringing it to our attention. Nor do we have time to focus upon every outrage extant. Especially as there’s nothing we can do to directly affect it.
There’s another hypothesis, that the Epstein investigation is *Trump and Barr’s* way of settling the score with the people behind the Muller investigation, given the more substantial (and more substantiated) ties between people like the Clintons and Epstein. I’d like to believe that it’s the case, but I’m not holding my breath. My suspicion is we’ll know quickly – if this stays on the front pages, then it’s the “next Resistance attack on Trump”; if it disappears quickly, then it’s “Trump’s revenge against the Resistance.”
Trump maybe the target, but there will be plenty of collateral damage.

I think he knew were the bodies were buried. Instapundit has some links suggesting that Epstein might have been running some sort of operation. Nassib Taleb thought he might have been a made man.

This is so stupid. Just look at the timeline. Major Dem donor who supposedly ferried multitudes of “elites,” including Dem bigwigs, to pedo island, let off the hook shortly into a new Dem Administration. Not a coincidence but it is telling how the only person now being called upon to resign for this injustice is a Republican.
Mike Cernovich is saying his actions had a lot to do with the unsealing and arrest now.

If Pres. Trump is the quarry (and he’s not, save in the sense that he’s the cause of every bad thing, like honeybee extinction or Iranian lust for nuclear weapons, and so on), then be assured he is merely the proximate object/quarry: you, you who support or vote for him, you stinking benighted Americans, you are the ultimate quarry. Never mistake it.
If you can please read information from Conchita Sarnoff. She has been working on exposing the Epstein mess for many years. There may be some in the press who think this will implicate Trump but they are very wrong. Trump is one of the only elites who have cooperated with the investigation and who cut association with Epstein once he realised what he was up to. In fact there was an early theory that much of the animus towards Trump was due to his cooperation with investigators and the fact he has passed strong anti-trafficking legislation. Ivanka is also deeply involved in anti-trafficking legislation/work. As a final aside, although Clinton hung out with Epstein and used his girls he was not into under age women. This was asserted by the woman who is a victim of Epstein and currently suing him and his assistant Giselle (she allegedly procured girls for him). The real surprise according to what I have read is the less well known elites who are high up in Hollywood and industry.
Article by Monica Showalter in American Thinker is very interesting: https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/07/left_goes_into_overdrive_trying_to_pin_epstein_case_on_trump.html
As a career prosecutor, I know that sometimes a very generous plea offer is the best you can do in a given case because things fall apart. What I can not get past is the fact that the victims in this case were never notified of the upcoming plea and sentencing. That’s not just a huge no-no in terms of acting in an ethical and responsible manner as a prosecutor—it’s now against the law in pretty much every state for a prosecutor to not notify the victim at key stages.
Acosta’s achievements as US Attorney, from Wiki:
“In 2005, Acosta was appointed as the U.S. Attorney for Southern District of Florida, where his office successfully prosecuted the lobbyist Jack Abramoff, the terrorism suspect José Padilla, the founders of the Cali Cartel, and Charles McArther Emmanuel, the son of Liberia’s former leader.
“The District also targeted white collar crime, prosecuting several bank-related cases, including one against Swiss bank UBS. The case resulted in UBS paying $780 million in fines, and for the first time in history, the bank provided the United States with the names of individuals who were using secret Swiss bank accounts to avoid U.S. federal income taxes.
“Other notable cases during his tenure include the corruption prosecution of Palm Beach County Commission Chairman Tony Masilotti, Palm Beach County Commissioner Warren Newell, Palm Beach County Commissioner Mary McCarty, and Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne; the conviction of Cali Cartel founders Miguel and Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela, for the importation of 200,000 kilos of cocaine, which resulted in a $2.1 billion forfeiture; and the white-collar crime prosecutions of executives connected to Hamilton Bank.
“Acosta also emphasized health care fraud prosecutions. Under Acosta’s leadership the District prosecuted more than 700 individuals, responsible for a total of more than $2 billion in Medicare fraud.”
None of this is beanbag!
Cicero – I think some of the fishy smell from the Epstein deal arises precisely because Acosta has such a great record.
James Patterson, who wrote a book about Epstein, claims that he spoke to the manager at Mar-a-Lago years ago. She told him there had been an incident involving Epstein at the club, that she had gone to Trump about it, and that Trump threw Epstein out of the club. This would be consistent with what Trump said today, the he is “not a fan” of Epstein and hasn’t spoken to him in fifteen years or so.
Trump has his personal failings. I’ve never seen any indication that underage girls are his type of misbehavior. It seems to me, if this is aimed at Trump, it’s likely to fail, at the expense of a number of high-profile Democrats, according to the rumors.
” It seems to me, if this is aimed at Trump, it’s likely to fail, at the expense of a number of high-profile Democrats, according to the rumors.”
Yes, it will end up being the typical anti-Trump overreach, the cigar that blows up in their faces. They can’t help it; it’s a compulsion for the anti-Trump crowd, both left and right.
Telling that Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, of all people, tweeted out an acknowledgement of the Epstein ‘affair’ and that it might involve some of her political ‘favs’; ‘Let the chips fall as they may’. I can see that as an attempt to pull in Trump and other Republicans, but given what we’ve seen reported about Trump and Epstein: that they haven’t been friendly or in contact for many years, and Trump set the law after Epstein for some bad behavior with an underage person at Mir-A-Lago years ago, I’d say Trump successfully avoids any serious attacks from this.
“you stinking benighted Americans, you are the ultimate quarry. Never mistake it.” sdferr
Agreed. This has the ring of truth…

Oh they always think it is somebody else’s ego at play, never their own. That’s how Satan’s unHoly spirit voice works.
It’s always the other guy’s Congress critter that is the problem.
If people require the media to “bring things to their attention” after covering the news “with a pillow”, this is why they are asleep and not woke.

There’s been rumors amongst my sources for awhile now that Trum is prosecuting a bunch of child pedo blackmailers. The whole Russian gate thing was there to distract American voters and it worked. But it also served as a smokescreen to cover the Attorney General’s work.
Now that the Leftist alliance has been ordered to fire on Epstein (just like that metoo target in Hollywood), the strategic lanes will change once again.
Republicans and conservatives lose the battle to the Leftist alliance by always “reacting” to the Leftist strategic plans. They fire on the target the Leftist media gives them, in a very reactionary sense. It is not first strike policy tactics and it is not taking the initiative. It is a very conservative, cautious, turtle like behavior in war.
This is offset by the more aggressive but always recklessly corrupt Alinsky Alt Right tactic playbook of “freezing the target”.
Anyways, the video covers the “Shadow”, which is the unHoly Voice, just as there is a Holy Spirit that is a quiet voice.
The only thing I can add to Neo’s quandary is that we perhaps underestimate the significance of the Secretary of Labor job, where Acosta is now. Also, some have suggested that Acosta was handed an impossible mess, when the Florida prosecutor completely screwed up the original case.
The Epstein sentence was even lighter than many realize because he was given work release from his jail cell for 12 hours a day (was it 5 days/week?). On the other hand, the FL prosecutor had almost nothing in the plea deal sentence, not even sex offender status.
Remember who is now head of the DNC. Tom Perez, Obama’s former Sec. of Labor for most of his two terms. Still, why force Acosta out? They won’t get another guy like Perez with Trump in office.
Epstein’s immunity to the law was baked in the cake, due to HRC’s leverage.
Now that she is not in power, Epstein maybe could not sustain his powers and Deep State immunities. The guy obviously over stepped himself, even in the secret cabal networks. He doesn’t even do much trafficking compared to the rest of the suppliers to the USA.
Especially as there’s nothing we can do to directly affect it.
Trum realized how much of a problem the Federal Reserve was, including how it wasn’t even constitutional, when he tried to fire them. And it didn’t work.
Helplessness is the lot of a slave, GB. It’s the common suffering of America.
Heard this is actually an attempt to reseal the original case records which were recently ordered opened. In order to ensure a fair trial don’cha know. Which would actually keep those ‘big names’ under wraps. Kinda conspiracy thinking – until you find out the prosecutor in charge is James Comey’s daughter Maureen.
Anyone care to give odds on Epstein committing suicide in jail?
Uh huh, uh huh…
https://bigleaguepolitics.com/googles-algorithm-shows-donald-trump-in-image-search-of-bill-clinton-and-sex-criminal-jeffrey-epstein/
Plus, Barry Meislin, it’s claimed that images of Bill Clinton with Epstein are being removed. They’re going to try to contain this. Not sure it can be done.
It may be well to recall that there are many pending cases in the hands of the DoJ IG as well as AG Barr’s designated prosecutor (enormous anvils overhead waiting to fall on the likes of Comey, Brennan, Clapper, McCabe, et al). AG Barr isn’t going to tolerate any bullshit from SDNY against the Pres. on behalf of these bozos. SDNY can play the Epstein case straight, I suspect, or get run out.
I agree: President Trump is a target. The good news is that if anyone had anything to connect Trump with the pedophile scandal, it would be page one news. Silence is a good sign. He should have fired his Labor Sec. months ago, and he’s going to take a hit for his continued delay.
I also agree with you that Dershowitz is a target. He has defended the Rule of Law and the Constitution, so he, too, must be destroyed.
A prominent 80s feminist, law professor Catharine MacKinnon, recently said, “if Hillary Clinton had been elected #MeToo would not have occurred…”
https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2019/07/06/university-of-michigan-professor-metoo-wouldnt-have-happened-if-hillary-clinton-won/
MacKinnon’s reasons that #MeToo was a backlash to Trump’s aggressive sexuality, which is true to a point, the point being #MeToo IMO was also a campaign to enmesh Trump in scandal to help bring him down. Unfortunately there were far more vulnerable targets on the left than Trump.
Likewise the Epstein case looks far more dangerous for the left than Trump. But some are sure going to try to make it about Trump.
Hmm…checking the web, I see MacKinnon is managing the trans wars pretty well for a second-wave feminist. She is not a TERF — Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. She has no problem with trans-women, presumably as long as they share her rigid ideology.
I’m not sure I would claim that conservatives are more moral by nature of being conservative. Could be.
However, it is clear that conservatives, having been particularly targeted for moral attacks since the sixties are much more guarded. They have to be. “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules,” as Alinsky said. Meanwhile, liberals went wild with sexual freedom.
A few years ago I read in Eric Raymond’s blog that even tech leaders have faced this:
The short version is: if you are any kind of open-source leader or senior figure who is male, do not be alone with any female, ever, at a technical conference. Try to avoid even being alone, ever, because there is a chance that a “women in tech” advocacy group is going to try to collect your scalp.

“Not sure it can be done…”
Well, it can (and will) certainly be attempted given the fixations, ambitions and aspirations of a media that appears to have gone all gushing and google-eyes over their ceaseless admiration for the “1984” aesthetic(?).
On the other hand, it could backfire on them—if the major search engines are not sufficiently “vigilant”….
For example, they seem to be enjoying stressing this (from 2002):
“In 2002 president called described Epstein as ‘a terrific guy’”
(from https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-jeffrey-epstein-acosta-pedophile-palm-beach-sex-trafficking-plea-deal-2008-a8997761.html)
…over this (from Epstein’s 2008 trial):
https://www.dailywire.com/news/49325/watch-best-selling-author-reveals-why-trump-kicked-ryan-saavedra
…or over this (from 2009):
https://summit.news/2019/07/08/lawyer-for-epstein-victim-says-trump-was-only-high-powered-person-who-helped-him/
(“The lawyer for one of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein said President Trump was the “only” high powered person to help him with his investigation….”)
…even as they almost totally ignore Epstein’s Bill Clinton connection and his generosity vis-à-vis the Clinton Foundation (and others) while believing Clinton’s bizarre denials regarding that relationship.
Indeed, it does seem that the MSM is “chronologically challenged”….
Of course, the MSM does do “chronology” when it suits them. Right now, there’s an awful lot to obfuscate, so they’re really busy, those poor dears. For example, here’s a current article that leads with a “curious” photo taken in THE YEAR 2000.

One might still hope, though, that there’s just too much to squelch, too much to hide, too much to pervert, TOO MANY TO PROTECT, for them to succeed.
And perhaps, just perhaps, what is just another in a long and pathetic array of simply dreadful performances again backfires on them all big time (invoking the indomitable spirit of Wile E. Coyote).
I wonder when Americans will begin to take back their power from DC, the DS, and the Federal Reserve.
The powers that be are using the powers delegated to them by the Constitution and the American people, to do what exactly, defend child predators like Epstein?
Is that what Americans are voting for and paying taxes for, so that the IRS can fk over whomever they wish?
Does that sound good.
And don’t go to the Trum card, he’s not gonna be alive forever in the White House.
One might still hope, though, that there’s just too much to squelch, too much to hide, too much to pervert, TOO MANY TO PROTECT, for them to succeed.
The New World Order faction in the Alliance is powerful enough to counter or crush the Cabal of Leftist Demoncrat Satanists child sacrificing special interest groups. But if the NWO does it, then they become the new rulers of America. Not sure the white hats in the Deep State are that much better than the black hats in the CIA/FBI.
I disagree that the target is Trump. This isn’t about Trump, or at least, not directly. This is about clearing the decks for 2024. The Clinton Machine, the Old Guard in the Democrat Party, THEY are the target. They will be swept away like chaff before the wind, and the “pure, righteous” and extremely radical Left will fully seize the levers of power on the Left.
Any deleterious effect on Trump or the Right is just a bonus.

Embrace the power of AND.
Collateral damage to Trump & the Right is at least part of the goal, if not the primary purpose.
I am also of the opinion that the absence of leaked evidence tying Trump to Epstein as a perp himself is (almost) proof that he isn’t, just as with the Russian Collusion fiction.
(Although absence of evidence is not always evidence of absence, when there are hundreds of media flacks slavering to break the bombshell story, I think we can be fairly confident they got nothin’ yet.)
I don’t know how this current criminal case would cause the sealing of the records in the civil case because the civil judge just gave out the order that they are to be open and available in the civil case. The civil case has been going on for awhile, if my memory serves me right. If anyone here is a lawyer, it would be interesting to gain your insight. The civil case is just so much further along and Epstein is bound to put motions before the judge to keep the new criminal charges from proceeding.
“2024”
Except by that time, the Clintons will not be a threat to anyone.
So why not 2020?
Is Pelosi (she of the Vorpal Blade) mounting a palace coup to show she means business? To try and stay relevant with the young’uns? To show who’s boss?
One thing is certain: once you get in the habit of trying to destroy people and their reputations, it’s hard to stop. And harder to keep your aim straight. (That is, everyone you believe to be in your way is a potential target, especially if—or rather, since—you’re “super-virtuous.”)
IOW, might the Clintons have to be destroyed in order to keep the feeding frenzy alive?

Unless they condition an MK ultra sex slave or a Project Monarch test subject, into possessing false memories of her rape under Trum when she was 10.
Don’t under estimate the power of the Deep State, or the CIA for that matter. They have been researching these for official black ops for some time now. The files are even declassified. Have Americans paid any of it attention? Nope. The media covers it with a pillow. Americans are satisfied with the coverage.
