Ilhan Omar scandals—or should-be scandals
Ilhan Omar is in a pack of trouble. Or she would be, if she weren’t a member of several intersectional groups generally protected by the MSM, the Democrats, and the left (that’s redundant, I know): Democrat, leftist, woman, Somalian, immigrant, Muslim:
BREAKING — Important Ilhan Omar thread on just-released campaign finance investigation conclusions:
The report’s finding that @IlhanMN committed SIX campaign finance violations is, amazingly, not the report’s key takeaway.

The report states that @IlhanMN and Ahmed Hirsi filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015.
Yet they were not married. @IlhanMN was married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi from 2009-2017.
According to both federal and MN law, this is illegal. (3/x)

Nothing will happen. She’s part of several protected classes. She get’s a pass.
As you pointed out, Neo, she is a member of so many intersectional groups, that she is untouchable. Were she a white male Republican, she’d be indicted. Even a white female Democrat (or a black male Democrat) might face severe consequences. Perhaps even a black female Democrat, native born of Christian background, would have cause to worry.
But, not Omar…
The country we now live in…
If Omar was skimming from her campaingn funds, and all the other petty crimes it appears she has committed, she is not only dishonest, but also not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Plus she is a security risk.
I would ROFLMAO if she were indicted on any of those fraud/finance crimes. I have no expectation that she will be…but she darn sure should be if they can compile the evidence.
But I look for the “band of congressional sisters” & Somali community to make so much noise about this that the memory hole will make a giant sucking sound.
Rep. Omar’s second husband, Mr. Elmi, is her brother; and appearances are that the marriage was also an immigration fraud.

Thomas Frank wrote a notorious book, “What’s the Matter with Kansas?”
I ask, “What’s the Matter with Minnesota?” Someone elected Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar and it wasn’t foolish red voters in Kansas.
huxley,
I’m hardly an expert on “all things Minnesota,” but the DFL or Democrat Farmer’s League has been a force for a very long time. It’s a “Farmers itching to become a Bolshevik victims” group.
More recently, the governors of MN, have been Jesse Ventura, Tim Pawlenty, and Mark Dayton. Ventura was an example of polling gone wildly wrong, and an idiot iconoclast. Mark Dayton is heir to the Dayton Department stores fortune, which spawned Target Inc. You’ve heard the phrase that “Power corrupts etc.” Dayton is an example of “Big money that you didn’t earn, corrupts absolutely.” (What about Trump’s kids?)
Dayton and his pals probably resolve Neo’s favorite question: Fool or Knave? Who but a fool could think that importing 10’s of thousands of Somali’s into a very civilized and urban (and cold) city would be a good idea?
TommyJay: I’ve trawled the web to understand Minnesota, so I’m aware of the DFL and the 80,000 Somalis who now live there.
But still…
Another great experiment in American Federalism! I look forward to the results.
“A sitting congresswoman may have filed EIGHT YEARS of fraudulent, felonious, tax returns. ” – PowerLine post
Well, there you have it.
All Congressional candidates should have to reveal all their tax returns, just like they want the President to do, before they are elected.
This is a little more complete than PL’s post:

When Americans feel I am not patriotic enough or criticize/cook their sacred cows too much, then I point at how their country keeps electing Omars…. I’m like “ok”.
Ya’ll keep talking the talk while doing Omar, if it feels good. Not gonna end well though.
Even pointing out that Omar appears to have broken the law is, in the current zeitgeist, a malicious, racist, indefensible and basically illegal act.
Should be a lot of fun, though, watching Nancy Pelosi defend keeping her on the House Foreign Relations Committee.
(“She’s Somali…so she understands foreign relations a lot better than most.”?)
