The Steele dossier rush — 11 Comments

  1. Barr is com ing for all these people and they are trying to head him off. I don’t think it will work. Maybe Brennan should start looking for countries with no extradition treaty, like Steve McQueen in “Thomas Crown Affair.”

  2. RE: “[T]he FBI is doing its best to keep much of Kavalec’s information secret by retroactively claiming it is classified, even though it was originally marked unclassified in 2016.”
Who, exactly, in the FBI signed the order(s) to classify this information?

    (1) Control of classified information is governed by EO 13526 (President Obama). Sec. 1.7. states: “Classification Prohibitions and Limitations. (a) In no case shall information be classified, continue to be maintained as classified, or failto be declassified in order to: (1) conceal violations of law, inefficiency, or administrative error; (2) prevent embarrassment to a person, organization, or agency;” Sec. 5.5. Describes the sanctions, which are pretty lame.
    (2) Intentional mis-classification of information provided to a court or to Congress is perjury, as the individual is stating that the information MUST be hidden under the existing rules (EO 13526). (The theory is that the redactions themselves constitute information.) Since it isn’t, that person is presenting falsified information.
    (3) This is being done to cover up a crime (i.e. defrauding a FISA court). As part of an on-going conspiracy to obstruct justice, it should get everyone involved a date with a grand jury.

  3. Solomon follows up today: FBI’s Steele story falls apart: False intel and media contacts were flagged before FISA

*** She quoted Steele as saying, “Payments to those recruited are made out of the Russian Consulate in Miami,” according to a copy of her summary memo obtained under open records litigation by the conservative group Citizens United. Kavalec bluntly debunked that assertion in a bracketed comment: “It is important to note that there is no Russian consulate in Miami.” ***

  4. Hillary is right; there was Russian collusion. And she still lost.

  5. Hillary is right; there was Russian collusion. And she still lost.

At least Putin won his fixed election. We are so lucky that incompetent drunk is not in the White House.

  6. They created a tangled spider web of lies and are now caught in their own creation. In a real nation of equality under the law, struggle as they might, they will still be consumed by the spider. We’ll see.

  7. As other have commented, I bet that the Russians are laughing their asses off at how just a little effort on their part and the Left and the Democrat’s hatred of Trump has caused so much damage to our political system, eroded so much trust in our government agencies, and destroyed whatever remaining credibility our MSM had.

Talk about “bang for the buck.”

  8. It wasn’t all political. It was all skullduggery.

Comey jumped at the opportunity presented by the dossier, even if it was a stinking pile of shit. He needed something like the dossier, to point to someone like Carter, in order to get a FISA warrant.

Brennan at CIA could not get a warrant against a US citizen. Clapper could not get a warrant. Clapper probably knew that Rogers was NOT going to let *anyone* just rummage around in the NSA’s multi-petabytes of intercepted materials. As Snowden has revealed, the NSA grabs *everything*, and saves it ‘for a rainy day’. Rogers had to know about the June FISA application (refused) and the October application (granted).

A warrant lets the FBI require the NSA to grab everything related to the target, and… and …. everything from anyone within ‘three hops’. AND that means review of all of the stored stuff going back, too. (Google ‘NSA three hops’). So:

Carter -> mid-level campaign guy -> Manafort -> DJT. Trump was right when he claimed he had been wiretapped.

When did he learn that? Probably from Mike Rogers, on November 17th. Rogers was fired shortly thereafter.

I just wonder if Mike Rogers has been asked any questions by IG Horowitz? I suspect that he will be asked some questions by Barr.

  9. Why do I have this feeling that Comey is going to be the fall guy & the rest are going to skate?

  10. Comey the increasingly sized clown needs to be taken down, but McCabe needs to be indicted, too. Probably first.

But we need to wait for indictments.

I don’t believe Barr is actually running the DOJ, nor that Wray is running the FBI. Long term deep state bureaucrats remain entrenched. So many. So much swamp.

Getting Comey indicted and going to trial would be a fine big step. I suspect Nunes will continue to push the other criminal referrals he’s already sent to the DOJ. So things are happening.
    So.
    Slowly.
    It’s.
    Hard.

    To.
    Wait.

  11. As I’ve said before, we are not just dealing with criminality in these matters. We are dealing with evil.
I do believe there are means for Barr and Wray to deal with the Deep State: call one individual in, give him verbal orders, make him sign a single copy of the order which Barr or Wray would retain in their office, and give the Deep Stater a tight deadline for production. If he fails, reassign him to Guam or GITMO to be watched over by a Marine.
