One of these things is not like the other
All four are examples of that terrible offense: furniture abuse. It’s time we stamped it out.
Two of them are in black-and-white, two in color. Three of them feature a male protagonist, one a female. Three of them illustrate desk abuse, and in one the victim is a couch. In terms of seriousness of the offense, I would argue that the desk in the Oval Office is a greater and more important symbol than the couch, and that therefore the terrible crime of feet-on-furniture is even worse when the victim is the desk, as in the first three photos.
I find this entire topic absurd beyond words.
“I am the Terrible Trivium, demon of petty tasks and worthless jobs, ogre of wasted effort, and monster of habit.” – The mantra of the mainstream media.
The Dems DO absurd.
In terms of seriousness of the offense,
The three up US Presidents, although of the offense those pics showed but the camera man did showed when behind? however for 3 different presidents.
But as for last one the offense greater as comparing her with three presidents!
Its official position Vrs the offense, the last one will be more offense.
So where’s the blue dress?
The cleaning crews probably had to go in with a flame thrower and muriatic acid sprayers after Clinton decamped.
One can imagine the carpets and drapes piled out on the curb between occupations … as if someone had bought a house they needed to purge before moving into.
Yet Demos are freaking out about the supposed disrespect for the office because a female adviser to the president sat on her knees on a couch while framing a photo angle of a large gathering.
“Absurd”, unfortunately, does not begin to describe the phenomenon.
I never saw the photos of George W. Bush or Gerald Ford with their feet up on the Resolute Desk until now. I bristled at Obama doing it when his photo was published, and I bristle again at these images of other presidents doing the same. To me, it’s not the casual appearance of the image that bothers me but the fact that this particular desk is a special artifact and was a special gift. It should be treated with appropriate respect.
For any president to put his feet on it is akin to the The Sand Lot offense of playing pick-up baseball with a Babe Ruth signed ball. Shame on them all.
I missed it.
Did someone make a stink because of the woman with her legs up on the couch taking the photo?
Her shoes were off so why would anyone care?
Roy:
That’s it. It looks like Conway removed her shoes.
That, and she’s female. Is it taboo to identify her sex?
It looks like Conway can expect the same treatment as Palin, Bachmann, et al. They don’t actually like women who discover their dignity, and the female chauvinists don’t like competition.
Strong and cute. Cute and strong. Playful, actually. It looks like she’s enjoying the moment at no cost to people or furniture. And the guys look happy. Smiles all around.
Given that all the presidential photographs and poses are staged for the photographer, I am offended by none of the photographs, but Conway’s behavior is the least offensive of the group.
However, were I the president, I would never take that pose when speaking to people standing in front of my desk. In my opinion, doing that is inappropriate to do that, but it has nothing to do with furniture.
Yancey Ward – I agree.
Yes, there is the fact that it is something of an historic piece – and you should never put your feet on furniture – but, also one should never “shove” your feet into others faces.
It IS rude.
Thanks for the good laugh you gave me this morning! And cool finding the photos of Bush and Ford with their feet up. I had only ever seen photos of Obama doing that. While I love putting my own feet up, so I sympathize with the guys, I had thought that the resolute desk commanded more respect.
No, she didn’t remove her shoes. The major point, though, is that if the News hadn’t been disrespect of the furniture, it would have been respect between President Trump and all those presidents of historically black colleges. Unacceptable! Ruins the narrative!
So far I’m finding this entire century absurd beyond words.
Humans are messed up and broken ,it’s not really the furniture’s problem.
