Heartwarming and astounding story
In a recent thread on gymnastics, commenter “CV” recommended watching this astounding video. I can’t seem to figure out how to find the embed code, so you’ll have to go there in order to watch it. It’s well worth the trip.
The story is related to gymnastics, but it’s not primarily about gymnastics at all. It’s about something that sounds corny—the human spirit—but it’s well worth the 15 minutes of your time it will take to watch it. It’s one of those tales of adoption and lost and found biological relatives. It also demonstrates how important the home environment is and how important heredity is.
Here’s another shorter feature on the same story, and it’s possible to embed this one. But please watch the first one first:

We live deeply in a grievance and victimization culture.
Yet, here is Jennifer Bricker overcoming her own great obstacle in pursuit of her own goals.
Saw this when it first came out on 20/20 – it is more than inspirational.
BLM (from your article below) would do well to highlight inspriational rather than retaliation for perceived victimization.
Likewise, conservatives need to bring their message to a level of inspiration rather than grievance and conspiracy.
Like Jennifer’s parents, we can choose to either focus on the limitations and unfairness, or we can work with what we do have and inspire.
mighty amazing story. regarding “instilling confidence”, a parent cannot give what s/he hasn’t got.
Well, you did it, you made me, a 79 year old man, cry.
Another to add to the fortitude pile

Simply cannot put into words the impact this story had on me. I have daughters. And it is challenging to find things to connect with them on. This story is one of a few vehicles which allowed us to share a special moment together.
So much negative in the world. But when one finds a pearl of positive within all of that, the level of refreshment it delivers is overwhelming.
I’m glad that I watched. Very uplifting – great way to start the day.
