Trump’s skeletons are outside the closet
[NOTE: I hate writing so much about Trump. Positively hate it. But the more I read about him, the more disturbed I become, and I feel like if no one else is telling a particular story, I need to do it.]

I don’t know about Trump’s closet; the phrase usually refers to something heretofore hidden.
The thing that strikes me about Trump is that a great deal of his bad behavior is out in the open, fully accessible. And his behavior had been very bad. I don’t mean things like infidelities, although that’s certainly part of his past. I mean things that are directly relevant to his ability to govern.
The material is fully accessible, as I said—I’ve encountered quite a bit of it, and probably only the tip of the iceberg, because prior to this campaign I’ve never had the slightest interest in Trump’s biography. But it’s right there in public, in terms of articles and books. However, it’s not common knowledge to most people.
For example, there’s the story of what Trump did in Scotland. I’ve written one post about it and plan others, but the story is (or should be) HUGE, as Trump might say. To summarize: it involves Trump making promises to Scotland that he didn’t keep (about the amount of his investment and the number of jobs that would be created; both were far far less than promised); he lied about how much he had invested when the truth was easily obtainable; he insulted and threatened anyone who crossed him, including the farmers and other people of modest means whose land was near the golf course he was building and who refused to sell to him; he tried to use the law to compel them to sell to him even though he didn’t need their land to actually build the course; and then he engaged in a war of insults with those he’d lied to. He squandered the goodwill of the people of Aberdeen who had originally supported the project—a luxury golf course and hotel—because of the money they thought it would bring to the stricken area. (I have many many links for all of this, but will include them when I write a longer, more detailed, article; some of the links are in my previous post on the subject.)
I’m probably leaving something off the list, but you get the idea.
This information is all in the public domain, and so far his opposition isn’t using it. Perhaps his GOP opponents haven’t used it so far because they thought he’d fade on his own. Or each one of them didn’t want to become his special target. Or they thought they could attack him on his politics. That hasn’t seemed to work so far. But it seems to me that, if a guy is making a lot of promises to you, and telling you what a great negotiator and dealmaker he is, and that’s why you should elect him—he’s a doer who does great things—you’d do well to look at some of his deals that went bad, his behavior during them, and the consequences. If he’s a liar, he might just be lying to you.
One thing I think we can safely say is that the Democrats will use this stuff against Trump if he is the nominee. It makes him look terrible: liar, con man, rich elitist bullying the little guy.
What I meant by this stuff being in his closet is not that it’s secret, but that it hasn’t been widely publicized by the mainstream media yet. Why? Because most of the MSM are allied to the Democratic party, which wants Trump to be the nominee. They think they can beat him, and they may well be right. They’re saving this stuff up until he’s the nominee, and then it will be trumpeted–pun intended.

Statistically speaking, it is highly, highly probable that his company or subs employ illegal aliens on a massive scale. MSM will spring it in October. Golf courses, hotels, restaurants and construction all employ illegals.

I doubt that, but I don’t really know. Perhaps they don’t take him seriously as a candidate, and figure that he’ll self-destruct before or during the early primaries. I myself still think that’s what’s most likely to happen, but the recent polls have been disturbing. If Trump does well in the early primaries I expect they’ll take the gloves off.

Spy Magazine (run by sleek well-fed MSM tooltoy Graydon Carter) had entire issues devoted to harassing Trump, the “short-fingered vulgarian,” back in the 1980s. This stuff is online. It’s suspect, and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it also shows a familiar pattern and practice. The “short-fingered vulgarian” sobriquet bugged Trump so much, apparently, that he chased down Carter repeatedly to show him that his fingers were not, in fact, short. Also, he apparently tried to sue some other people named Trump because they had (before him) named their business Trump Something which he contended was a trademark violation.

I don’t believe this is just “a capitalist acting like a capitalist”. This speaks to character. The stories about Trump, as Neo says, are legion. Are there similar stories about, say, Mitt Romney, another extremely wealthy businessman turned politician?
Oh, and for the record, I don’t think you mean centi-millionaires. Those would be people with a hundredth of a million dollars, i.e. $10,000 or more. You probably mean hecto-millionaires, or something like that.
Maybe Christy could do a piece on how Trump made Atlantic City great again. Trump brags about how he bailed in time. He didn’t give a sh**about the people of Atlantic City. He would probably deal with the Chinese if he thought he could control Hong Kong.

but i have read the “other side” to many of those stories, not just the press versions, and other details… they turn out to be a lot of sound and fury about nothing with lots of lies of omission to create an image that isnt 100%… ever see that before? after all, unless you KNOW whats missing, well, then you will be completely shilled by it, and the sheep will be afraid of a sheepdog.. and would prefer a wuss… neville chamberlain over Churchill…
we wont know till we know what he will be like. he can turn out to be one of the bests and then secure his name and legacy for hundreds of years or be the worst and end up like Millard Fillmore….

He was building a great golf course like several he has built… the clients of such a place pay a fortune to be exclusive members. the course in ky near mom is $200,000 per year membershiup fee… he was making an investment not just for the land but for the view that would attract people to the course to play
however, after that agreement, the state decided to spoil the vista with a wind farm… and the enjoyment with the whoom whoom whoom of low frequency bass sounds that make people sick…
this is akin to making a vacation center and wanting to spend a half billion dollars only to find out after saying yes to the town council and starting the project and spending millions, they decide to put the new garbage dump next door and downwind. (and that they been planning that from before your negotiations!!!!!! and didnt tell you)
NONE of the articles are very clear about posting that. and he knew that he would never earn his money back, or even make money once they did that… ie. they were going to ruin the investment and all.

so there is a business entity under the main and the investors and others are protected from being responsbiel if the business goes bankrupt… same thing that keesp them from going afer your house if the stock you buy goes belly up
things get done and that project/business either is profitable or its not. if it is, they keep it going and reinvest and take profits in dividends.. if it is not, they close it down, just as a mom and pop store closes wehen they fial.
what people forget here is that there is no promise of success and the requirement to endlessly dump everyones money into a loseing thing
now tell me, if you were running alosing business, would yuo close down if you dont see a way to make money, or would you sell your home and cars to fund it till it closes down?

Another possible reason why the GOP has been pulling its punches against Trump is that they prefer him to Cruz. If it comes down to a choice between Trump and Cruz–and it’s starting to look that way–a lot of them prefer Trump. They think they can make deals with Trump, who wrote The Art of the Deal, after all. They don’t like Cruz–he’s “nasty”–he’s not a dealmaker. We’ve already seen signs of them leaning towards Trump.
The Left likes to keep their blackmail and personal assassination research ready, but won’t deploy it until the right moment comes. Just as they did to Petraeus, they will “wait” for the proper moment. The strategic moment that most benefits the Leftist alliance, and their own pocket books too.

There are some odd notions expressed here (for example, expat’s) which seem removed from the concepts of normal business practice, i.e., to make a profit, not to be “loyal” to others. The two can and should go together, but not for financial loss as the cost of loyalty. We’re not talking marriages here, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer (and most of us don’t honor the ” ’til death us do part” anyway).
Business is profit and loss. P and L. Business is not charity. Trump has no duty to “support” Atlantic City out of his own pocketbook.
Business has its own taqiyya: One may misrepresent and lie on one’s own behalf. As long as no law is broken, it is not illegal. Hell, we all know that, and we all live by it. Just as Trump has done.
And, yes, Trump has supported Kelo. It furthers his own potential interests, AND is the law of the land per SCOTUS. I dislike the Kelo judgment as much anyone, but the responsibility lies with the Roberts’ Court, no one else, and it would be silly and even demagogic for Trump to campaign against Kelo.
Fortunately, most states have laws now that have pulled Kelo’s teeth.

Was anyone suggesting that Trump should campaign against Kelo? I certainly don’t think so.
The point is, however, that Trump adores Kelo, and he also tried to use its functional equivalent (on a local level) in Scotland.
A lot of business people might do similarly, but most of them are not running for office on the Republican ticket. I doubt most of Trump’s supporters have a clue about Kelo or Trump’s anti-liberty, big government love of it.
But still worse are the personal insults he hurled at the people who wouldn’t sell to him.

I left the timeline in your 3:00 PM comment intact, even though the comment is longer than I usually would leave, because I wanted to respond to something in the timeline.
In 2006, when the project had not been built (and before Trump even had approval for it), Trump knew they were probably going to build a windfarm. He didn’t know for sure—I’m sure he was told a host of different things about the probabilities. But he knew it was planned and he knew it could happen.
He gambled and lost, and later he cut his losses. Nothing wrong with that; that’s business.
In the process, he made grandiose promises, in order to get HIS own environmental waiver for the government. He promised to invest a certain amount of money and that the project would create a certain amount of jobs. He turned out to be incorrect. We’ll never know if it was because of the wind farm (I’ve read plenty of stuff that says it was for other reasons, having more to do with his business choices and the fact that the area could not sustain or support another expensive golf course for the high rollers).. Let’s just say for the sake of argument that the wind farm did impact negatively on his business. He knew it was a risk, and he lost. He then fought it in court and lost. He never invested what he said he would, and it never employed many people at all. But then—and this is the important part—he lied about how much money he actually had invested. It was documented, and he lied about it—not what he thought he might spend, but what he had spent.
Right through the whole process, he publicly insulted anyone who crossed him, including the farmers who wouldn’t sell. He knew they were there before he made the plans and described the project. He knew they might not sell. He knew all these things. He rolled the dice and lost, made some bad deals, and then insulted people and lied about them and about his own finances.
That’s his choice. Many businessmen do such things, but I don’t trust them and they are not running for president. Trump is.
At this point, the people of Scotland mostly hate Trump. Rightly or wrongly. I think rightly, but that’s not the point either. The point is that he’s selling himself as a great deal maker who gets everyone to like him, and who’s not nasty.

Frog — I don’t know where you live, but here in California, fraud and misrepresentation in business are torts which can get you sued big time, with triple damages. Also crimes, if egregious enough.
Blert — Cruz would lose massively to Hillary, Bernie, or Good Old Uncle Joe (TM). He would get no Reagan Democrats and no independents. And the kids, the single women, and the African-Americans would turn out in droves against him.

I have had a long, long day driving around on county and township roads in Winneshiek County. I see very little support for trump in my area of Iowa. The donald does not resonate with rural Iowa, which is where the vast majority of gop voters reside. Even Des Moines gop voters are more conservative than gop voters in NH. Its the ground game in Iowa that matters… the ‘full Grassley’ which means visiting all 99 counties. Only Cruz has done so.
I will spend Friday and Saturday on the road. Sunday I will head south for a Cruz event in Johnson County and sit with Eastern Iowa Cruz precinct captains. Caucus day will be on the phone until 6pm, then going to the caucus site before the doors are close and locked at 7pm. I may be wrong, but it feels like victory is in the air.

I’m very nervous about Iowa and New Hampshire (and the rest, too, I guess, but they’re the first indication we get of the way the winds are really blowing). And thank you for all your hard work.
Watch Idaho’s borders, the Left usually ships in hundreds of buses at the right time to “Tip the balance”.

Looking at the map, I would check the Chicago to Des Moines routes for Iowa. As well as the south road to St. Louis. For points of invasion that is.
