“Interesting” times
There has been so much news lately that it’s hard to keep up with it, much less write about every topic that I consider vitally important and/or entertaining and/or amusing and/or inspiring and on which I have something to say.
I can’t chain myself to my computer 24 hours a day—or even 12, although some days I do just that (minus the chains, that is). Today I could write on and on, but I’m going to have to arbitrarily stop at the moment without the new immigration post or the one on Chrissie Hynde, rock music today, and Allan Bloom (yes, Alan Bloom; maybe tomorrow I’ll get it done), or the twenty other topics I would like to address.
And that’s just today.
However, gotta go for now. So feel free to talk amongst yourselves.
[NOTE: Meanwhile, just as I was about to press “publish,” this news on Boehner’s Obamacare lawsuit comes from left field. Remember Obamacare? Remember the lawsuit? Remember Boehner’s fighting words on that? Yes? No? Mere rhetoric, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing? I guess we’ll see at some point.]
[ADDENDUM: Meanwhile, our trusted partner in peace Khamenei chimes in with some reassuring thoughts:
We negotiated with the U.S. on the nuclear issue for specific reasons. (The Americans) behaved well in the talks, but we didn’t and we won’t allow negotiation with the Americans on other issues…
God willing there will be nothing left of the Zionist regime in 25 years. Meanwhile, the heroic jihadi Islamic spirit will not leave the Zionists in peace for a second.
What could possibly go wrong?]

BACK TO WORK!
Chrissy Hinde is a breath of fresh air in the freakshow that is modern feminism as exhibited by the MTV set:
“Maybe they’re feminists on behalf of prostitutes – but they are no feminists on behalf of music, if they are selling their music by bumping and grinding and wearing their underwear in videos,” said Hynde. “That’s a kind of feminism – but, you know, you’re a sex worker is what you are.”
Being a badass rocker, she is in a perfect position to point out that empress Miley et. al. have no clothes.

I stand chastened.
our trusted partner in peace Khamenei
In early June, addressing a crowd marking the anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, Khamenei responded to chants of “Death to America” by joining the chorus of hate. “Yes, I, too, say death to America!” he said.
The following week witnessed another sign that the regime intended to heighten anti-American rhetoric with a two-day mass gathering in the historic city of Hamadan, the first capital of the
Iranian people, presented as a “Death to America conference.”
Since 1980, the Islamic Republic has organized a “Death to America” conference every year on Nov. 4, which marks the anniversary of the seizure of the US embassy compound in Tehran and the holding of American diplomats as hostages.

“Alan Bloom”? Do you perchance mean Allan Bloom, author of The Closing of the American Mind?
Pedantic, quit bullying me!
Yes, the same. Will fix.
Let check some thing different from the headache we had now.
Now Chrissie Hynde attacks today’s lewd pop stars branding them ‘sex workers’ who have created a ‘pornography culture’

Maybe some things will get less “interesting” in 498 days.
Go Chrissie! Modern pop music is so boring and bland and singers taking their clothes off and pelvic thrusting around doesn’t improve it. Chrissie Hynde is right, they’re just sex workers if they’re not actually promoting a good product.
Yeah, I’m old. Ish. But I’m also right.
RUSSIAN TROOPS JOIN COMBAT IN SYRIA…
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/09/us-mideast-crisis-syria-exclusive-idUSKCN0R91H720150909
U.S. officials said Russia sent two tank landing ships and additional cargo aircraft to Syria in the past day or so and deployed a small number of naval infantry forces.
The U.S. officials, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the intent of Russia’s military moves in Syria was unclear. One suggested the focus may be on preparing an airfield near the port city of Latakia, a stronghold of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
U.S. officials have not ruled out the possibility that Russia may want to use the airfield for air combat missions.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to his Russian counterpart for the second time in four days to express concern over reports of Russian military activities in Syria, warning that it could fan more violence.
The White House said it was closely monitoring the situation.
More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.
The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.
“The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,” one defense official said.
Those in opposition to Assad needed weapons. There happened to be a plethora of weapons available not all that far away- in Gaddafi’s arsenal in Libya. The broker for those deals was Ambassador Chris Stevens:
But there’s growing evidence that U.S. agents – particularly murdered ambassador Chris Stevens – were at least aware of heavy weapons moving from Libya to jihadist Syrian rebels.
In March 2011 Stevens became the official U.S. liaison to the al-Qaeda-linked Libyan opposition, working directly with Abdelhakim Belhadj of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group – a group that has now disbanded, with some fighters reportedly participating in the attack that took Stevens’ life.
In November 2011 The Telegraph reported that Belhadj, acting as head of the Tripoli Military Council, “met with Free Syrian Army [FSA] leaders in Istanbul and on the border with Turkey” in an effort by the new Libyan government to provide money and weapons to the growing insurgency in Syria.
While its provenance, originally ascribed to the Chinese, is disputed, there is a saying – “May you live in interesting times.”
It’s a curse.
