How to destroy a city in five minutes — 18 Comments

  1. Sousse, Tunisia was a terrorist victory.

Detroit, Michigan is a Democrat victory (lots of cheap housing and land, no buyers).

  2. A family member served at the embassy in Tunisia this last year. He would disagree with Totten with regard to the number of terrorists from Tunis in general. That country has provided more recruits to Isis than any in the world. That would account for the recent hopeful results of the election. However at every local sporting event in Tunis there were Isis flags in the stands. He also told me that the resort where the attack occurred was known as a dangerous place to go.

  3. note:
‘Even Tunisia’s agriculture economy is crashing. Prices are down by 35 percent because the resorts don’t need to feed tourists anymore.’

  4. Luxor is truly one of the wonders of the world. One of the greatest vacations my wife and I ever took was a five day cruise on the Sheraton boat from Aswan to Luxor along the Nile thirty years ago. An archeologist would take us on a guided tour of the ruins each day and at night the boat would sail to the next stop. Each day the ruins would get bigger and more magnificent until we finally reached Luxor which was the most magnificent of them all. It’s a shame that the barbarians of Islam have made it impossible for people to see what must have been a spectacular civilization at its height.

  5. Yep, that is one way to do it. Those so-called “lone wolf” terrorist attacks can happen most anywhere at anytime now. (I dispute the term, because someone wound them up, armed them and sent them out to commit mayhem).

Another way to ruin a country, or city is, through incessant erosion of standards. San Francisco and New York, to name a couple, are demonstrating this. I wonder why anyone would visit downtown San Francisco now for pleasure? Take your kids?

Then there is the chaos that follows when the political leadership succumbs to mob rule. The Baltimore Inner Harbor was a delightful place. We don’t see any reports on how it is faring now; which suggests to me that the answer is ‘not good’. I was caught in an anti-American riot in Istanbul one time; it gives you a helpless feeling, and is an experience you don’t want to repeat.

Here’s how they did something similar to prep the Katrina residents.

One of the reasons why the Hussein Regime in 2009 begin purging military officers was because of stuff like this from before. Democrats could not fully utilize the military chain of command if people refused to obey their orders to confiscate guns.

  7. It’s a shame that the barbarians of Islam have made it impossible for people to see what must have been a spectacular civilization at its height.

That’s probably why the barbarians of Islam don’t want people to see the ruins. They were made by a pre-Islamic civilization, and remind people of two things. The first is that the region wasn’t always Islamic. And the second is that Islam hasn’t done much of anything on its own. Just about everything that Islam has “contributed” to the world – outside of creative ways of causing mayhem – has been inherited from one of the cultures that they took over. Even the architecture styles that are widely seen as “Islamic” or “Middle-Eastern” these days were picked up as the result of Islam’s first major conquest – the Sassanid Persian Empire.

  8. Terrorism is targeted at a society’s citizens, not its leadership.

Islamic terrorist’s motivation is their belief that their actions and death will gain them entrance into paradise. Waiting until they commit an act of terrorism and are either captured or shot is NOT a deterrent but an incentive.

To deter a mortal enemy, what they value must be credibly threatened. The greater the retaliatory threat, the more certain accountability, the greater the deterrent.

Threaten their certainty of entrance into paradise by increasing the probability that they will be refused what they most desire and recruitment to the jihadist ’cause’ will suffer.

To be taken as a credible threat, the means must be consistent with their own beliefs. Islam abhors contact with pigs. So much so that a special cleansing procedure must be followed by a Muslim if they are to be granted entrance into paradise by Allah.

These beliefs point the way to credibly threatening Islamic terrorist’s certainty that paradise awaits them. Issuance of hollow point bullets containing dried pigs blood to soldiers fighting terrorist forces and uploading video of the execution of captured terrorists by them being drowned in an acrylic vat of pigs blood would provide ample credibility.

Terrorists, by definition have rejected their humanity. Civilization acts suicidally when it refuses to use the only means of deterrence available and instead, insists upon extending a ‘dignified, humane’ execution to the murderous.

  9. We think alike on this matter GB. Bomb them with offal and blood from pork slaughterhouses. Stuff a strip of bacon into the mouths of all jihadists slain on the battlefield. All captured should be fed – alive- to the hogs. Think of the propaganda value of the youtube videos. BTW, no kidding about the hogs.

  10. Destruction is the fun and easy thing to do, especially when justified by moral superiority.

That is the bond between the left and mohammed.

Moral superiority = all beholden to the same idea.

  11. Terror is a tactic designed to create enough fear that people will avoid places or activities. Their plans to attack airliners is based on the idea of destroying an industry important to the West. Terror is a cheap way to frighten people away from a resort, a city, an industry, etc. In this case the jihadis scored an easy win.

The only way to deal with terror as a tactic is an offense aimed at denying them money, resting places, arms, and allies. But that’s hard. Until things get a lot worse we will continue to play whack-a-mole.

  12. It’s not just that it’s hard, Jimmy J., it’s that it requires guts, a firm conviction that these are very bad people, and a willingness to ignore the bleating of the Left. Do you think that Alexander would have any problem dealing with these Islamic thugs? Or Genghis Khan? George Crook? Nelson A. Miles?

IMHO, had we leveled Fallujah to the ground when those contractors were killed, we never would have had the problems we later had in Iraq.

But we don’t have the will, haven’t had it since the end of the Korean War, and will probably never get it back.

  13. While what it said all true, but are we targtinh the head/ heads for these killers who insperd them?
As long those living far from the light living in shadow we we get more killers like in Tunisia, think about this imam who recruited murderous teens to radical Islam from his comfort zoine

So we really need to focus on Who must be killed to beat These terorrests

  14. by destroying tourism, you destroy connections

given the US and some others help others through connections fresh in the mind, they forget these places and then leave them vunerable to the attackers

you would be surprised how much tourism causes people to see another place and want to open their wallets to help that place… or go to war to help defend that place…

tourists like to adopt the places they visit and like

  15. Junior, some retards on this planet continue to claim that the numeral system used in modern times was the Arabic numeral system, disguising where they stole it from, the Indians.

  16. The only way to deal with terror as a tactic is an offense aimed at denying them money, resting places, arms, and allies.

To deny Islamic Jihad’s access to their biggest source of money and allies, the US would have to be nuked. Do you want to see the US nuked?
