HCR: Obama the Orwellian liar
There’s something about the quality of Obama’s lies that is especially galling. They are not just ordinary lies, but outrageous inversions of the truth, almost a mockery of the truth.
Take a look at the following selections from his victory speech last night and you’ll see what I mean (my interpolations are in brackets):
Tonight’s vote is not a victory for any one party…
[This is said of the most partisan bill in history. It garnered not a single Republican vote and not even all of the Democrat votes. Thirty-four of the latter were given permission to vote “no” in an attempt to save their own butts in 2010.]
It’s a victory for the American people.
[This said of a bill that was opposed by over half and as much as two-thirds of said American people, depending on the polls. I bet most of them don’t feel all that victorious right now.]
And it’s a victory for common sense.
[This said of a bill that is unbelievably Byzantine, fails to incorporate obvious fixes such as tort reform and portability of private insurance, and violates the common sense knowledge that there is no free lunch by hiding its true costs in accounting tricks and games.]
I think that the O’Bumbler has actually never told the truth about any substantive issue, at least since he began campaigning years ago. He is truly the biggest con artist to occupy the White House in as long as I can recall.

Isn’t there some theory that says the more outrageous the lie, the more likely reasonable people will give it at least a little credence as….you know….NOBODY would lie that outlandishly?

It is a victory for that which has no party but is within all parties. A progressive victory for all other parties.

Corrupt politicians are not interested in the truth. They know how to “spin” words to make people “feel” a certain way. Obama is the master of spin, it is his modus operandi and it continues to serve him well.

One unsettled question is how Mr. Obama, a former community organizer fresh out of law school, could vault to the top of a new foundation? In response to my questions, the Obama campaign issued a statement saying that Mr. Ayers had nothing to do with Obama’s “recruitment” to the board. The statement says Deborah Leff and Patricia Albjerg Graham (presidents of other foundations) recruited him. Yet the archives show that, along with Ms. Leff and Ms. Graham, Mr. Ayers was one of a working group of five who assembled the initial board in 1994. Mr. Ayers founded CAC and was its guiding spirit. No one would have been appointed the CAC chairman without his approval.
The CAC’s agenda flowed from Mr. Ayers’s educational philosophy, which called for infusing students and their parents with a radical political commitment, and which downplayed achievement tests in favor of activism. In the mid-1960s, Mr. Ayers taught at a radical alternative school, and served as a community organizer in Cleveland’s ghetto.

They not only did it within a decade, they actually came up with somebody who, by comparison, makes Bill Clinton look like an honest man.”

This gives me an idea that I propose as a means for us as progressives to fight back against this corporate give away that sells out all of our principles by those Democratic traitors.
We first find homeless people with typhoid and tuberculosis on the streets, and we invite them to our homes where we make them a pleasant place to stay. We can pitch in together. Sponsor three or four homeless for caring for every fifty members of our progressive coalition.
We then tend meetings together in every major town and city in the country where we intentionally contract typhoid from these homeless people. We can do this in a symbolic and spiritual manner by having the homeless people sip from lukewarm cups of tea and pass the tea around to everyone. We can make this a very beautiful, brave, ennobling occasion to share our commitment to a better world and compassion for the less fortunate together!
When the majority of us get sick, it will so overwhelm the health care system that it will cause it to fold up and go under.
The government will have to step in and create a single payer universal system to take its place when the corporations can no longer operate.

No other President has fallen so fast so quickly and with such justification. It is inconceivable that they get away with this in a democratic country. I wonder why Charles the great did not recall that all other entitlements had bipartisan support, gave the government the type of power as this nor promised to permanently wreck the economy.
It will be overturned, the question is how much pain it was cause first.

Not for lack of trying: Stanley Kurtz, the author of this article, was nearly blocked out. Our organizer-in-chief’s minions call-bombed the phone lines of a radio show he was on. He was shouted down.

To ELC’s comment above, I remember in the summer of 2007 when David Geffen, liberal king maker (Hollywood can’t vote in Virginia but they can send Virginia lots of $s), said, paraphrasing, that all politicians lie but the Clintons do it effortlessly. That Geffen would say this seemed big – Geffen let’s the Baldwins and Sheens garner the publicity but he’s pulling the strings. When a king maker leftie that never gets quoted is quoted with a knife to the heart of the establishment candidate something was clearly up.
It turned out, of course, that Geffen didn’t have a problem with the lying by the Clintons. It’s that the lies weren’t big enough.
Those 34 Democrats who voted no might as well have voted yes–their entire party is in my crosshairs until the day I die….
Artfldgr: that WSJ article on Ayers and Obama that you linked to was published before the election, if you check out the date. They published a few things, as did National Review and City Journal. But more mainstream publications swiftboated them.
A lie told often enough becomes the truth.

Adrian what you wrote reminds me of something Sam Houston said a politician, “He has all the characteristics of a dog except fidelity.”
But Obama’s lies are apparently more like asparagus. You either lap it up or hate it.
