Obama’s address: open thread — 54 Comments

  1. “I’ve been thinking about tyranny lately; why it is that some people are horrified by it and recognize it when it is threatened, and why some excuse it as long as the tyranny is in a cause they favor.”

Obola is a Lib. Therefore the liberal meanstream media, the vast majority of Lib politicians, and the vast majority of Lib Democrat voters will excuse Obola’s liberal tyranny.

    Why? Because Libs stick together!

  2. Good question, how many Americans realize Obama is laying the groundwork for a dictatorship? Or to rephrase it, how many Americans have lived in a dictatorship and did not like it, or realize that the present US is a historical anomaly, a happy oddity, where want and insecurity are largely unknown and which could change overnight.

Unfortunately Obama knows the answer to those questions.

  3. I will be at a city council meeting tonight to lend my voice in opposing a proposed development project that would greatly change the ambiance of my neighborhood, so as usual I will not listen to dear leader pontificate on his majestic effort to forgive criminals of their crimes. Lawlessness begins at the head of the rotting fish…. when the Ferguson grand jury fails to indict all hell will break loose across the nation and this will be the wet dream of the obama-holder-sharpton axis. Color me a bitter clinger.

  4. The night Obama was elected, I said, “Now I know what a non-Nazi in Germany felt like in 1933.”

What is truly bizarre is that Congress has voluntarily emasculated itself. No Enabling Act necessary.

This has been a long time in the making, as Congress has created regulatory agencies with the power to issue regulations that have the power of law. What bills they do pass are mostly written by staffers and lobbyists, rather than the “lawmakers” themselves.

Maybe they’re just lazy, and like the perks and benefits of the job, without having to do any actual work.

  5. The regulations allow Congress to make a ton of money on the stock market and mutual funds. Check out how much Congress critters make vs the normal citizens… there’s a differential there.

And the perks of being a consultant even if they get fired from their political jobs, is still a sweet deal. Because they still have the connections to said bureaucrats and a lever in power to determine regulations. Companies and businesses will pay for that kind of access.

  6. To me, on early interpretation, Obama has backed off and is only deferring action on a larger number of illegal immigrants. It doesn’t appear to me that he is pardoning them nor changing their fundamental status as illegal. All it appears to be is deferred action with temporary right to work here.

  7. Yancey Ward:

I think you might be missing the point. It isn’t the specifics that are the problem, but that he is doing it at all. Tonight he is basically declaring himself a dictator, and daring anybody to stop him.

  8. I’m currently listening to him on Mark Levin’s show, with Levin providing MST3K-style commentary.

Every single word coming out of his mouth is a lie. The man is a psychopath.

  9. Do you get the feeling that establishment GOP types are probably not opposed to this reform, just the way it is being done? They’ll object. They’ll raise money off this issue. But they won’t do anything about it. This is the perfect self-perpetuating racket. One side creates a controversy. The other side says ‘support us and we’ll fix it.’ Why does the GOP never stand up and fight? (e.g., Christie says we should compromise). Because they are in on the fix.

  10. My Pre-Usurpation Letter to McConnell and Boehner:

    Sir:
You possess the power to thwart Obama’s treasonous act of lawless extra-congressional and extra-constitutional unilateral amnesty for many millions of unwanted, uninvited, uneducated, and un-American job stealing lawbreakers.
You, Sir, possess the power to refuse to authorize the funding of this travesty, this destruction of our Constitutional Republic. It matters not that the USCIS is ‘self-funded” by fees, you authorize the spending of those fees, they are not a self-authorizing agency. The evasion, lie, sham, set forth by certain quislings in our party claiming that Congress can do nothing as a result of this “self-funding” is a profound falsehood and is set forth for no reason other than to excuse yourselves the troubles of a difficult fight to save our republic, with the attendant wails of disapproval from the fourth estate/fifth column that you fear so much.
I can say only one thing to you, you leaders of the only party with the power and position to save our republic from an ever-quickening death spiral of tyranny: Man Up.
We send young men to die for us, but we cannot ask our old men to take great risks?
Our republic is dying. In your squeamishness and cowardice you are as much it’s murderers as is the Usurper Obama.
    In Rage,
    Maquis

  11. I don’t agree with what he said or what he intends to do, but I believe he toned it down enough from expectations to look reasonable in some quarters.
    Which infuriates me.

  12. “I’ve been thinking about tyranny lately; why it is that some people are horrified by it and recognize it when it is threatened, and why some excuse it as long as the tyranny is in a cause they favor.”

I think it’s because the West today is so individualistic that many people only care about power. Whoever has the most power is great. They wouldn’t put it that way, but they think that way. They admire “audacity” — Americans always have, but this is to the nth degree. They don’t like compromise, they don’t like arguments, they don’t like giving anything up. They like things settled, and they like whoever settles things.

  13. Maquis, good letter. I hope everyone sent e-mails and called in the last few days. The Congress needs to hear from the citizens. They do respond if enough people get in touch.

IMO, the temporary work permit is a set up. A set up for the dem candidate in 2016. She/he can promise to make the permits permanent. Makes a nice campaign issue to get the base involved.

As he spoke, I became more enraged because it was a very smooth piece of emotional ju-jitsu. And almost everything in it was a lie (I have the authority), or an exaggeration (I’ve got the border under control), or an appeal to bleeding heart emotions. (The story of the poor illegal scholar who couldn’t attend her grandmother’s funeral in Mexico because she had no papers. Sob!)

He did this to create disunity and anger among Americans. He knows the majority are against this, but now he has an issue to keep his base stirred up and the MSM will give him cover. Thus, he can continue to rail against the rascally Republicans and try to deflect notice away from his abysmal performance as President.

  14. the idea is not to look at what is in front of you, for if you look too closely, one may miss how ACT II is being played out. What the larger picture is.

While being distracted, what is happening in the big picture?

Russia, China, and many other countries, will not allow despotism in the US to go on without some form of interference at some point

the set up was to get to this point. to have someone take up a mantle, but then what? would Russia and its networks put such a person in place, then sit back? such a thing would never work to the advantage of the manipulators who assisted the outcome.

there is no way to place a somebody into the drivers seat, and get a loyal something that will play to the team. after all, the item in play has one of the worlds most powerful fighting forces, nuclear weapons, and more… and is as trustworthy having done what to his own people?

there is no place for this to go but to some form of conflict, where the winners take over the loser, and so, THEN have the item.

Macbeth may take control in ACT I, but what happens AFTER that in ACT II is more important.

how would our state in such a condition defend itself, if its so busy fighting itself.

the purge of the experienced leaders and unilateral disarming and reduction of forces
the feminist eugenic removal of the children who won the prior conflict, replaced by what?
not to mention the feminists destroying the fathers passing down skills, morals, etc.
the destruction of manufacturing capacity and its support infrastructure
the inability to self organize and lack of coherence and interpersonal trust

and on and on and on it goes until the list would be so long neo would cut the post.

and thats not even mentioning the 400 times nato has scrambled to meet nuclear bombers, the docking of ships in south america, and more.

time to think about the big picture

  15. The Leftists are the Slavemasters. Who regard us as fit only for enslavement and serfdom, and unfit to handle our own affairs, or so they rationalize their lust for power (see Grubernoid).

The Slavemasters have always been contemptuous of those they enslave. They have to be.

The “bargain” they offer is the fake security (entirely subject to their whims) of not having to engage in the risks and decisions of living one’s own life and taking the consequences. Of having a small portion of the fruits of your labor “given” to you by the Slavemasters, in the form of “guaranteed” room, board, and clothing, albeit meager and mingey.

The only thing that kept us free was our moral fiber, our moral code, as our Founding Fathers realized. Which is why the Leftists have done everything they can to destroy that.

  16. Obama gave the activists almost nothing they didn’t already have. The odds of being deported were already extremely low for the group in question, and now they are being offered the chance to pay money for papers that might not be any good after 2017. I think you will see about a weekend’s worth of digestion, and the activists groups like La Raza will realize that Obama played them on this one. The calls for full amnesty and citizenship path for a larger group will start on Monday in The New York Times.

  17. On the other hand: History and humans have a funny way of taking twists and turns you don’t expect.

I remember the Newsweek editor (IIRC) saying that the “glow” the [leftwing] media would give Kerry and Edwards was worth 10 to 12 points in the polls: which means that Their support is in reality thin. . . . Subtract the propaganda effect, and you’ll see a totally different picture.

I remember the Bostonians standing and singing the Star Spangled Banner as one, after the Boston Marathon massacre.

I remember how even the New Yorkers shook off the evil Leftist trance after the 9/11 attacks and rallied magnificently to America and patriotism.

The way to break the spell is to saddle up and ride into rhetorical battle with the treasonous Fourth Estate: start attacking them directly, exposing their corrupt ties, their leftwing backgrounds, their voting affiliations, etc., etc. We must, must expose them as the agents provocateurs they are!

Every single word coming out of his mouth is a lie. The man is a psychopath.

Best lie/line of the speech: Obama saying he has “an ancestry that goes back generations in this country.”

And he said it with a straight face.

  19. Thanks Neo, for reminding us of your previous Enabling Act and Chavez points — all well taken. It does seem, as a nation, we are “slip-slidin’ away,” too many of us without the vaguest notion of what the Constitution is and what it does. Unfortunately I hear no voice from the Congress, brave enough to point out the obvious. We have our Hitler/Chavez. We need a Churchill.

  20. “The way to break the spell is to saddle up and ride into rhetorical battle with the treasonous Fourth Estate: start attacking them directly, exposing their corrupt ties, their leftwing backgrounds, their voting affiliations, etc., etc. We must, must expose them as the agents provocateurs they are!”

Beverly this is right on. We are besieged by traitors of the vilest kind.

  21. For Obama’s statement to be consistent, it was amnesty before and now through enforcement discretion. Meanwhile, second and third-world leaders are salivating at the thought that they may be relieved of their burden. Obama’s probably salivating that Americans are too stupid to appreciate the consequences of planned parenthood, and that they greedily consumed the opiate that promises dissociation of risk.

I hope everyone sent e-mails and called in the last few days. The Congress needs to hear from the citizens. They do respond if enough people get in touch.

Oh yeah. Just like they did in 2008 with the bank bailouts, when calls and letters ran 300-1 against, and the bastards did it anyway.

Not belittling you, JJ; just pointing out the facts.

Nope, I’ve given up on that. The Republicans want amnesty too. Our time and energy will be much better spent stockpiling food and ammo, and preparing to use it.

I’m done with politics. Artfldgr is right. War is coming.

  23. Since he didn’t decree citizenship effective immediately, expect the next focus of the regime to be assailing the states’ voter ID laws. I would not be surprised if that was a forte of Eric Holder’s replacement.

  24. Seems like a good time to post this: the Academy Award-winning 1944 documentary “With the Marines at Tarawa”:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4q4NZH-eVM

“The film is in full color and uses no actors, making it a valuable historical document. The documentary showed more gruesome scenes of battle than other war films to date. According to the documentary The War, President Roosevelt himself gave approval for showing the film, against the wishes of many advisors.

“Since the pictures were far too graphic to meet the standards of Hollywood producers and distributors, only the President could grant permission for its release to the general public. President Roosevelt consulted the only man who was present at the Battle of Tarawa that he personally knew and trusted, Time-Life photographer Robert Sherrod. Quoting Sherrod, “I tell the President the truth. Our soldiers on the front want people back home to know that they don’t knock the hell out of them every day of every battle. They want people to understand that war is a horrible, nasty business, and to say otherwise is to do a disservice to those who died.” Based on Sherrod’s prompting, FDR agreed to release the film, uncensored.”

  25. Maquis,

    I sent Boehner this yesterday:

    Speaker Boehner,

I’m not in your district, but you’re Speaker, so I feel I have the right to petition you. I’m in NY, so my voice is never heard by my two senators nor my rep, Joseph Crowley.

Understand: The recent election results were an overwhelming rejection of the President and his progressive, Country-destroying agenda. You were voted in to stop the madness, not meekly go along with it or bluster fruitlessly in front of cameras or even ‘compromise’ (a four letter word if there ever was one) with the Dems who showed so much disdain for Republicans and this Nation from 2009-2011. You have The Power of the Purse (which you have failed to use up to this point). What this President is doing is deliberately trashing our Constitutional system of government by being a tyrant who creates, changes and ignores law by waving his little pinky. If you do not take the mandate given to you to stop our Emperor Tyrant, there is another solution as provided to We the People by the Framers: The 2nd Amendment. You may not realize, living in the bubble of D.C., how close this Nation is to Civil War II with all the illegal laws and overreach by this President. I cannot tell you how many times a day I read the following phrase in various comment sections on the internet: Our Forefathers would be shooting by now!

The problem with this imperial presidency is not only in the now, but for the future. Are we forever going to be a Nation run by presidents who make, change and ignore law at whim? I thought we were a Nation of Laws, not a Nation of Men. The stakes are high in the coming months, you should be aware of that. Your failure to rein in and stop Emperor Tyrant will lead to violence, make no mistake. And once that Rubicon is crossed, who knows where this Nation will end up?

    Sincerely,

    RicKZ

  26. I’ve been thinking about tyranny lately; why it is that some people are horrified by it and recognize it when it is threatened, and why some excuse it as long as the tyranny is in a cause they favor.

A perfect description of libertarian positions on homosexual marriage and open borders.

  27. Any here who managed to watch His Infantile Majesty’s loathsome constitution ducking last evening have stronger Gag Reflexes than I. I started Michael Connelly’s newest Harry Bosch L.A. suspense thriller.

  28. rickl – not only did congress emasculate themselves, they have the chin-pullers Krauthammer, Will, Hume, et. al issuing dire warnings not fall into the trap Obama has set for them – they’re supposed to move on in January and tackle things that “are important to Americans”. I can’t listen to these people either. Their response it as predictable as Obama’s.
The new batch of Republicans will prove they aren’t only spineless, they’re useless too. They have no intentions of opposing Obama on anything.
This class of Republicans from the Rove Brain-Trust don’t see themselves in congress as an idealogical body; they’re compromisers and legislators who are elected to “do the business of the people”. If it means going along with tyranny, it’s just another day at the office for a guy like Boner who will go to the pub with his buddies, get drunk, eat like royalty, and congratulate each other for getting the funding for their district’s next bridge project.
The idea that they’re supposed to oppose on any idealogical grounds the other party, is for the dummies who continue to elect them.
The next 2 years, as expected, will be one Obama “up yours” after another, and the Republican leadership, coached by the conservative MSM, will do nothing, because it might jeopardize their bid to do more nothing in 2016.
According to Kraphammer and company, they have a lot more nothing to do before the next election, and this is not the time to do something to get in the way of doing nothing.

  29. As all here know, the Left is incrementally destroying America (frog in the water) and Obama has just turned up the heat enough to bring the water to a boil…

J.J. has the right of it in that Obama’s ‘temporary’ work permit is a set up, it will increase illegal immigration, place increased pressure on the GOP to agree to a form of amnesty that they would not otherwise and moves America incrementally toward permanence in our de facto open borders. We can be sure that those 5 million will, after a suitable period, be offered an expedited path to citizenship, since they will now be ‘fully contributing’ members of American society. After all, it will only be fair, right?

I am however in agreement with rickl in regard to writing and emailing Congress, were that effective the GOP would have long ago reversed itself on amnesty. They simply don’t care and are as committed to their personal aggrandizement, as are the democrats to leftist ideology. When the GOP does ‘listen’ it’s because it happens to coincide with their personal agenda.

I only partially agree with artflgdr. Neither Russia nor China is going to start a war with America in the foreseeable near term. Putin seeks expansion and restoration of Russia’s superpower status, not confrontation. he’s taken Obama and the EU’s measure and he knows an appeaser when he meets one. China’s ChiCom leadership doesn’t fear war but they do fear losing. They want a much larger margin for error before fully confronting America.

In viewing the internal threat from the left, there’s no doubt that Obama has started the process of attempting to turn federal agencies and the US Military into future brownshirts but that transformation is far from complete.

The proof of that is a recent poll of our troops and government workers, which revealed that only 26% approve of SecDef Hagel and only 20% think that Congress is capable of governmental oversight.

Until the Left and Obama or a future dem President have the ideological support of a majority of both the feds and especially the military, they will not seek to impose their will through force.

Instead they will continue their incremental, all fronts attack upon America. After all, why ‘fix’ what isn’t broken?

  30. I watched exactly 30 seconds of the speech last night… flipped over to it during a commercial break on another show. I heard just enough to convince myself it was going to be a sob story speech.

After reflection overnight, all I can say is once again BHO and Dems have shown their absolute brilliance. There really is nothing the GOP can do to stop this. 5 million people now believe they are home free, and you can’t change that belief once it’s set in. The GOP will bluster, pass appropriations and watch BHO veto, and then declare there’s nothing more they can do. It’s over folks. The Dems made a brilliant, bold move that has never been done before by a lame duck prez: “I am the emperor, and there’s nothing you are going to do about it!” They took the measure of the population and the GOP leadership and gauged it correctly.

The ONLY way this changes if there is very quickly a large mass surge of anger from the population. Things seem fairly quiet this morning, so I doubt it will ever come. Congratulations Dems; you played a brilliant game, and we (the remaining patriots) have lost.

  31. “The ONLY way this changes if there is very quickly a large mass surge of anger from the population. Things seem fairly quiet this morning, so I doubt it will ever come. Congratulations Dems; you played a brilliant game, and we (the remaining patriots) have lost.”

When half the voting population of a representative democracy is composed of ignorant emotionalists, a constitutional argument carries very little force as opposed to a close up image of a crying face.

Just look at the usual video messages put out by leftists for the postmodern American voter. Let Obama be your first time …

So we get close-up images of welling eyes and trembling lips, or faces so close to the camera you think they are going to breathe in your face.

This imagery is what lights up the “liberal” brain. Whispers and whining, followed by brave declarations shouted in defiance of those “oppressors” who refuse to take an interest in the autogenic disorders of the liberal, and whose disinterest in spending their lives soothing the liberal’s emotionally troubled waters, constitutes “depraved indifference”.

They’re a different effen species. And we are currently stuck in the same polity.

  32. By the way, I sent off an e-mailed letter too, thanks to JJ’s reminder.

Mine, according to the .Gov protocols had to go through my actual representative to the rep 200 yards away from where I live. My rep. is supposed to forward it.

    We’ll see.

As I did not quite call my own representative a flabby, glabrous faced, bespectacled imitation of a man, outright, and only mentioned in passing that his support constituency was composed of persons demanding from normal people what normal people neither needed nor wanted from his support constituency, it might even be forwarded to the Republican.

However if the Democrat office worker who previews my missive to their Republican neighbor, objects to Obama being characterized as the left-fascist proponent of “positive liberty” he is, as well as to my suggestion that the Republican representative do everything he can in order to to shut down the Federal Government until Obama is put in his proper constitutional place, then it may not actually be forwarded.

So far, I have gotten no confirmation that it has been. Feature that …

  33. Thanks to JJ’s reminder, I sent this off:

The subject is law. I am requested by the “house.gov” rules to write through Representative Peters, in order to get a message to Representative Bentivolio.

I am now doing so. Please pass on the following message.

    Representative Bentivolio,

Please, in the name of the rule of law, and of worthwhile political associations, resist with every legal and procedural means available, the efforts of this man who says his aim is to fundamentally transform America, to make himself a law unto himself.

It is the Constitutional duty of Congress, the law-making body, to especially resist this usurpation, and if possible also to call a halt to the longstanding delegation of law-like rule making authority to executive departments.

If this President is not held to the standards of the fundamental law, no one is. And the point of further nurturing our present civic associations in what becomes a deliberately legally degraded polity, seems less than immediately obvious.

    What would be the point?

Obama is, as you know, on record as stating that he sees our Constitutional enshrinement of “negative liberty” as inadequate: because, it merely says what Government must not do to you, and not what it, and by implication your fellow citizens under compulsion, must do for you.

This positive liberty idea, that of government as enabler of all that is humanly good and worthwhile in social life, is of course, and as you well-know a fascist, if a left-fascist notion. It is an idea especially beloved by neurotics seeking to off-load their personal and moral failings on usually unwilling others, through the agency of government.

This process has to be resisted if anything of real political, as opposed to imagined social, freedom is to be preserved. Given your admirable record, it is obvious that you fully grasp this point.

A halted federal government is better than a lawless executive.

The world will not fall apart. What’s left of dual federalism will remain; states operate, cities and townships function.

I am addressing this note of support to you, through Representative Peters, because that was the method requested on the Government web site.

I am writing to you as an individual, because I know that writing to him will do no good.

His constituency is that of those who seek from us through federal encumbrances and coercion, what we neither need nor want from them.

It will therefore be up to you, and those like you, to stop this Executive overreach before we lose any semblance of Constitutional government, and anything like social arrangements worth a citizen’s sacrifice.

    Sincerely …

    [edited by shifting an “s”]

I don’t have the guts to write a similar one, and thus put myself on the authorities’ radar screen. At this point, I prefer to hunker down and hopefully escape their notice.

  37. Barack Obama has had SIX YEARS to act—–as he’s made clear to the public just how passionate, how important this issue is to him.
    SIX YEARS.
Why now? His is a political motivation in taking the action he’s chosen to—in this fashion.
I could not help laughing during his selling of this plan last night.
He injected that these “protected” immigrants would be emerging from the shadows and contributing taxes to the system. NOT SO FAST.
The majority—-lions’ share of these individuals do not earn enough to pay taxes. As a matter of FACT, nearly all of them are candidates for the, “earned income tax credit” which would make them eligible to receive a check from Uncle Sam—–resulting in a net drain on the American economy.
    Pretty slick, Emperor Obama.

  39. RickZ: The problem with this imperial presidency is not only in the now, but for the future.

imperial presidency is what the left here is calling something else so that you cant or wont connect the dots to what it actually is. its like using holocaust instead of conflagration, after birth abortions instead of infanticide, right to choose instead of eugenics, multiculturalism instead of blood and soil, etc. (i can give you a long list of these equivalents that are the same but not being exact copies, allows for the denial)

if one does not properly name what one is looking at, ones understanding of it is different. there is nothing to actually fight against in terms of imperial democracy and its easy ot make fun of. but Soveriegn Democracy, means the SAME THING, using different words, and DOES have a well defined meaning and history.

    The Concept of Sovereignty Revisited

…..Not only do we live in a world in which the territorial differentiation into distinct nation-states is being challenged by a functional differentiation into distinct issue areas, but we also live in a world in which the sovereign equality of states no longer constitutes the baseline for further stratification according to relative wealth and power. In this world, there are several normative frameworks competing for both legality and legitimacy when it comes to justifying political practices, such as intervention. The traditional statist framework of international law has been challenged, first by ideas of universal human rights and corollary pleas for cosmopolitan democracy, and then by emergent claims to imperial sovereignty made by the United States and its allies.9 In the absence of an accepted normative meta-vocabulary, these latter challenges are notoriously hard to separate from each other, so that each attempt to argue with reference to the possibility of a genuine world community is likely to be interpreted as nothing but another expression of imperial ambition. I take the articulation of such a meta-vocabulary to be the chief task of political and legal theory in the years to come, so that the alternatives to the world of states can be gradually evaluated on their own merits.

one more thing in next post… heh heh

  40. Meiji Constitution
The Constitution of the Empire of Japan
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_Constitution

    specifically
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meiji_Constitution#Imperial_sovereignty

Unlike its modern successor, the Meiji Constitution was founded on the principle that sovereignty resided in person of the Emperor, by virtue of his divine ancestry “unbroken for ages eternal”, rather than in the people. Article 4 states that the “Emperor is the head of the Empire, combining in himself the rights of sovereignty”. The Emperor, nominally at least, united within himself all three branches (executive, legislative and judiciary) of government….

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Emperor of Japan had the right to exercise executive authority, and to appoint and dismiss all government officials. The Emperor also had the sole rights to declare war, make peace, conclude treaties, dissolve the lower house of Diet, and issue Imperial ordinances in place of laws when the Diet was not in session

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Meiji Constitution provided for a cabinet consisting of Ministers of State who answered to the Emperor rather than the Diet, and to the establishment of the Privy Council. Not mentioned in the Constitution were the genrō, an inner circle of advisors to the Emperor, who wielded considerable influence.

I have explained before that they copy from history..
not one part, but all of history.
so while being focused on Fascist germany, your all missing the copied ideas for fascist imperial japan, their ally… and Soviet Russia, their other ally.

ie. combine the best ideas of all three… though only one is better known than others, but only sort of.

there is a whole lot more..
but as i have no room, and no way to point it out.
we will leave it at the above

and leave me starved for companionship of peers.
people i could sit and talk with that know enough about the details, which literally take years to read and learn about.

just know that if your interest has been this kind of thing all your life, and your groomed as dear leader is, then you know this stuff… unlike the common folk who just want to live their lives unmolested.

  41. rickl,

    Thanks.

re disabled and unable to work, you have nothing to lose. If I’m going to be living in a post-Constitutional Country, then I’m going to be the biggest pain in the ass I can possibly be (which is not all that hard). Because GET OFF MY LAWN! (As an example of my ‘I don’t give a shit-ness’, after Gillibrand went on the Sunday talk shows and stated that the Dems knew Owebama was lying about 404Care, I emailed her via the Congressional portal. My salutation was: Dear Senator Lying Cvnt. /The missive went uphill from there.)

I’m still trying to foment a huge non-violent civil protest come April 15th. Next year, with our 1040s, there will be the 404Care form. From what I understand, the form will ask for your health insurance policy and other such questions. I want everyone to fill out the taxpayer info, but leave the rest of the form blank. You can write across the form something appropriate (in my case, that would be ‘FVCK OBAMA!’ and ‘FVCK THE IRS’). Imagine if the IRS were to receive tens of millions of such blank 404Care forms. It would be a civil protest too big to ignore.

  42. Clarityseeker Says:

    Why now?

The answer’s obvious in its cynicism. If the Dems had rammed through immigration reform back in 2009-2011 as they did with 404Care, Emperor Tyrant would have never been reelected in 2012. He needed the cover of not having to face We the People again in order to do something like his imperial amnesty.

  43. Mr. Obama has been a notable student of Saul Alinsky and his Leftist lessons. The LIES and misrepresentations he spewed last night were worthy of a book in itself.
I particularly bristled at the one where he conveyed that his decision to take specific actions were consistent with those taken by “democratic and republican presidents before him.”
Actually, both Ronald Reagan and George Bush “41” did impose “executive order”—–HOWEVER——did so after congress wrote a specific bill on the immigration issue. Messrs.’ Reagan and Bush used E.O. to help IMPLEMENT the very law written by congress.
Not at all related to this unilateral action Obama has opted for. Baraka is doing just the reverse; writing the law. Even his 38 executive orders modifying and rewriting democrat legislation for the Affordable Care Act were following that very
legislation. Many believe that he overstepped his legal boundaries in those 38 separate E.O.’s. But this behavior, as laid out in last night’s presentation, is completely usurping the legislative branch.
GOP would be wise to let this play out in Supreme Court. Let them take on the burden.
GOP should begin its Senate control in January by placing a new bill on Obama’s desk every single day. EVERY DAY.
Put this adolescent emperor in the limelight by having to respond—-everyday—-to the efforts, the product of legislators doing the work of the people.
Put Obama in the position where he is constantly seen as the one who is blocking, negating, refusing, denying, stopping, stonewalling, driving away, brushing aside, repelling, dismissing, snubbing, rejecting the work of the people—-the bills, the laws, the flow of congress.
To date, Harry Reid has effectively kept Obama safe from this business. Harry Reid has been the beaver who built the dam which has prevented legislation from reaching Obama’s desk.
    NO LONGER.
    “Just do it, GOP”…

Move your feet to a marching drum
We will win the war and pay the toll
Fight as one in heart and soul
    Midnight mare and blood-red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die”

  45. “Our major secret weapon is to deprive you of an enemy.”
    – Georgi Arbatov, at UC Irvine, 1988

Openness and friendship were, quite literally, weapons in a new kind of war. Here secrecy was not guaranteed by silence or discretion, but by the West’s willingness to be deceived. Arbatov could boast quite openly without fearing that his country’s “major secret weapon” would be compromised; for as it happened, the weapon was irresistible. Elite opinion, even if warned that they were under a new kind of assault, would never believe that they were being attacked by smiles and friendly handshakes.

There was no intention to switch to democracy, or to develop a genuine free market economy. It was never sincere. It was a deception. The vast sums moved by Putin’s gang never belonged to the gang itself. Rather, the foreign accounts and corporate shares yet belonged to a party that wished to remain “invisible” in its dealings. – Dawisha – Putin’s Kleptocracy

More than ever before, communism began to operate through false fronts in Venezuela, Brazil, South Africa and Europe. Under these fronts, the communists kept their victories hidden. – Nyquist

“Western acceptance of the new ‘liberalization’ as genuine would create favorable conditions for the fulfillment of communist strategy…. The ‘Prague spring’ was accepted by the West, and not only by the left, as the spontaneous and genuine evolution of a communist regime into a form of democratic, humanistic socialism despite the fact that basically the regime, the structure of the party, and its objectives remained the same …. A broader-scale ‘liberalization’ in the Soviet Union and elsewhere would have an even more profound effect.
    – Anatoliy Golitsyn, New Lies for Old [1984]

“…Russia overcame the inertia of collapse and started reviving its power, while the West, being lulled by sweet day-dreams of the liberal ‘end of history,’ castrated its armed forces to the point, when they could be good [only] for leading colonial wars with weak and technically backward enemies. The balance of forces in Europe has thus changed in Russia’s favor.
    – Pravda.ru, Nov 2014

“The earnings which are accumulated in the Party treasury and are not reflected in the financial reports can be used to purchase the shares of various companies, enterprises, and banks. On the one hand, this will create a stable source of revenue, irrespective of what may happen to the Party.” CPSU memo via Paul Klebnikov

  46. Harold illustrates the desire for an exact copy over an equivalence… that if its not the same, then its different not equivalent.

Same: identical; not different. / of an identical type; exactly similar.

Equivalent: equal in value, amount, function, meaning, etc.

nothing can happen that is the same
    everything happening is equivalent

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Today, Russia’s strategic nuclear forces (SNF) are even more advanced in comparison with those of the US, as they ensure parity on warheads with a significantly smaller number of carriers of strategic nuclear weapons

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The progress was made possible thanks to the treaty on the limitation of nuclear weapons, also known as START-3. The treaty was signed by Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama on 8 April 2010 in Prague (came into force on 5 February 2011).

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

In the treaty, the Americans, for the first time in history, undertook to reduce their strategic nuclear potential, while Russia won an opportunity to increase it. Furthermore, the new treaty removed important limitations that existed in the previous START 1 and START 2 treaties. It goes about the size of areas for the deployment of mobile ICBMs, the number of multi charge ICBMs, and the possibility to build railway-based ICBMs.

Russia did not make any concessions.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

a common belief for many of those, who still enthusiastically remain in captivity of the myths about the absolute “weakness” of Russia and the absolute “superiority” of the West.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

By the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Armed Forces had about 20,000 tanks in the ETO. (european theater of operations)……………….The Americans, in turn, deployed 6,000 heavy Abrams tanks on the territory of the allied group…………. In early 2013, the Americans withdrew the last group of heavy Abrams tanks from Europe. ……………………In mid-2014, the balance of the Defense Ministry had as many as 18,177 tanks (T-90 – 400 pcs., T-72B – 7,144 pcs., T-80 – 4,744 pcs, T-64 – 4,000 pcs, T-62 – 689 pcs, and T-55 – 1200 pcs.).

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

To date, NATO countries have only 260 tactical nuclear weapons in the ETO. The United States has 200 bombs with a total capacity of 18 megatons. They are located on six air bases in Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey. France has 60 more atomic bombs. That is pretty much it.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Russia, according to conservative estimates, has 5,000 pieces of different classes of TNW – from Iskander warheads to torpedo, aerial and artillery warheads!

………..by the beginning of 1991, the USSR had about 20-22,000 units of tactical nuclear weapons. They are nuclear warheads of air bombs, warheads for tactical missiles “Luna”, “Tochka”, “Oka”, nuclear warheads of antisubmarine weapons of the fleet, special warheads of air defense system missiles, nuclear mines and nuclear artillery shells of the Ground Forces.

This impressive arsenal was the result of forty years of an intensive arms race.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

there is always a lot more, especially when western press does not cover the situation very well, and so, we continue to believe what we last thought over 30 years ago, continues to today..

A VERY important read to understand the GAME
the SAME game Obama and his cohorts are playing

    RUSSIA IS A LIE
    Putin and the postmodern
    by Boris Schumatsky

    http://schumatsky.de/Russia-is-a-lie.htm

Lying is an especially effective policy instrument when it is not coupled with self-deception. The political lie is only a lie if the liar doesn’t believe in it. As for Putin’s lies, The only people who believe in them are his apologists and supporters at home and abroad. If you try to find a grain of truth in the Kremlin’s web of lies you will become its useful idiot

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Moscow gladly rebuts its own lies as soon as they are no longer useful. The Kremlin doesn’t care what that does to its stooges – they will anyway string together some kind of explanation.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The friends of the Russian autocracy misunderstand the policy of lying. The Kremlin doesn’t really aim at people believing its lies. Putin triumphs when other world leaders allow the lies to go unchallenged. Of course Putin knows that at least some politicians are wise to his ways. But to him the crucial thing is this: they don’t call the fraud a fraud, nor the invasion an invasion, nor the hybrid war a war.

Once the truth is absent the lie prevails

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

We did not listen to Jé¼rgen Habermas when he identified the postmodern critique of reason as a new wave of counter-Enlightenment.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Putin’s Russia lies because it genuinely and honestly believes that there is no such thing as truth.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The decisive difference between Putinism and Nazism is that the fascists and national-socialists believed to a large extent in their lies. The Putinist only believes in one thing: lying as a way of life..

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

If the victim doesn’t defend himself against the lies he also won’t defend himself against the violence. He will be beaten up, and the attacker has already won from the moment that his victim didn’t call him a liar.

  49. Rick Z. and DNW, good letters and thanks for taking action. I know many have given up on ragging on their representatives, but when we stay silent they take it as a message that all is well. My reps are all progs, but they do answer my communications. Often with the same kind of BS as was heard last night spewing from the President’s mouth. Even when it appears to do no good, they need to know that not everyone is on board and that many citizens disagree with their policies. The key is to write literate, pointed essays with minimal or no ad hominem or anything that can be taken as veiled racism. The minute they see something like that, it confirms their bias that their opponents are a bunch of racist yahoos.

I’ve been e-mailing and calling on this issue for three weeks. I’m not going to stop until they suspend the 1st Amendment and cancel all elections. The progs want to shut you up and when you give up just because something hasn’t gone exactly as you want it to, you play right into their hands.

Representative democracy is not a spectator sport. If you want things to go your way, you have to get down in the trenches and do whatever you can. Do like Rick Z and write to leaders in Congress as well as your reps. I have.

Artfldgr: Your concerns about Russia are way overblown. The ruble is crashing, capital is fleeing the country, and Putin seems not to understand what happened to the USSR – that they went broke. That’s where they are headed.

As for China, I agree with G.B., the PLA wants to get belligerent, but the leaders are not yet ready to confront us because the margin is still too slim. Both Russia and China recognize that Obama is an appeaser that can be pushed around. They are taking advantage of it. China also knows that the situation can change abruptly if a strong Republican is elected in 2016. I’m not sure Putin sees the reality of that. We are much weaker due to Obama’s policies, but we still have the most effective, battle hardened military in the world. Don’t sell us short.

  50. Best lie/line of the speech: Obama saying he has “an ancestry that goes back generations in this country.”
Actually, he does, his roots in America go back to at least the 17th century. BTW, he shares a common ancestry with the following people:
Alfred Kinsey, Howard Dean, Sarah Palin, Jimmy Carter, Katherine Hepburn, Dick Cheney, Robt Duval, Brad Pitt, Robt. Byrd, John Peirpont Morgan, John Hinkley, Georgia Okeefe, James Madison, Robt. E. Lee, Gerald Ford, Gordon Hinkley(president of the Mormon church), John Glenn, and the Bushes (because almost everyone does).
    http://www.wargs.com/political/obama.html
And he shares a common ancestry with and Winston Churchill. How is that for irony?
