Are you hangry? — 10 Comments

  1. My mother, normally the nicest person in the world, could get real testy when hungry. Everything else had to be put on hold until she found something to eat. Then she’d be fine.

  2. I can sympathize with those who experience this condition. In 2009 I came down with H1N1 & bacterial pneumonia that finally put me in the hospital for 6 days. I had lost 27 pounds from a 160 pound frame when I was discharged. For about 2 months afterwards I was very irritable whenever I would get the least bit hungry. Once I ate something I was fine. When I regained my normal weight my episodes of ‘hangry’ were over.

  3. It took my wife and I awhile to figure this out with our older daughter. Once we understood that when she got low blood sugar it caused her to be very difficult to handle, we would then feed her, and things would return to normal. She knows now, as a young adult to let her friends know that if she’s hungry she will be bitchy…nothing personal just get her fed!

  4. “I’ve been closely and even at times intimately involved with people who do just that. ”

Oh stuff and nonsense. There is absolutely no scientific basis for this cockeyed theory. On the contrary it is an established truth and some are a living example of the fact that they are merely too irritating to be around when they are going on and on about this study or that or this precious insight or that. If you run a blah-blah-blah lifestyle while others are simply trying to get to the buffet it is little wonder they run you down.

Honesty, Neo, we expect a bit more of a basis for foolish concepts like this. A bit more than the “I’ve been closely and even at times intimately involved with people who do just that” blather. Correlation is not causation. It’s not even a causeway.

  5. Hunger was originally because of two things.

Personal incompetence or somebody stole your food.

With entitlement and grievance industries, it’s easy to come up with a rationalization someone stole your food and that’s why hunger is here now. Time to get some back.

  6. If I don’t get a sandwich in about ten minutes I’m coming through this monitor to trash your place.

  7. I don’t get angry when I’m hungry, but I do get irritable when a scheduled meal, usually lunch during work, gets postponed. And if someone says, “let’s just work through lunch and go home early.” Several violent thoughts run though my head that get very hard to resist.

  8. So it’s true then, overeaters are happier, the obese are less irritable. Tell Michelle, quick.

  9. I know of a place that has the best Reubens in town. Not the paintings but the sandwich. Let’s go.
