When I first heard that Anthony Weiner was running for mayor of NY…
…I wondered if he was nuts.
And his announcement today that more women might be coming forth with emails and photos from him of a sexual nature certainly seemed to validate that thought.
But then again, he probably figures that sort of thing didn’t hurt Bill Clinton any. So why should it hurt him? Well, I would submit that Bill Clinton has a lot more charm than Weiner.
And by the way, the double entendres in this post were completely unintentional. I was going to take them out. But then I decided it would be much more appropriate if they stayed in.
This stuff just writes itself.
He stands exposed as a shameless politician.
In the matter in hand, we’ve got a player that has risen past the gay marriage issue — all the way to solitary union — self-love in the ultimate.
At least, he can never be lonely.
Weiner enlarges staff.
Weiner goes in.
Maybe not nuts, just desperate. Poor fellow never had a job other than in politics.
His Wikipedia entry says he became a friend of Jon Stewart while in college.
Funny stuff all around.
Drudge has been having lots of fun with Weiner headlines, e.g., “Weiner Plunges In”.
Humm…never gave it a thought that Neo was a Clinton kind of gal.
adagny:
I never thought much of Clinton, even when I was a Democrat.
I was a Tsongas gal.
But Clinton has a lot of charm. And it’s difficult not to have more charm than Anthony Weiner!

That is the understatement of the week. Weiner comes across to me as a partisan attack dog, as a nasty piece of work. Recall that he used race-bating in his first election campaign- nominations for NYC City Council. He posted anonymous leaflets to “just say no” to the “Jackson-Dinkins agenda” – shortly after the Crown Heights riots.
His campaign slogan will be…..
You Can’t Beat Our Weiner!
Maybe he will run for prez with Eric Holder in 2016. The Wiener – Holder ticket would make a fun primary season.
And….. away we go!

Okay, that made me laugh out loud, literally. Isn’t that kind of thinking what got him in hot water in the first place?
Any population that elects such an individual to public office deserves exactly what it gets.
Weiner seems to be one of those dedicated public servants who just can’t stay away. Plus he’s probably not otherwise employable.
Don’t forget the connection to Hillary Clinton through his wife. He is not doing this alone and there is some reason — though I am mystified as to what it might be — that the Clintons want him to continue in public life.
AW may be nuts, but he’s probably not as well-organized a fascist as Bloomberg. IOW, he can’t get anything done because he’s too stupid.
Lots of people like that.
Thing is, how grounded are New York voters? They’re the ones about whom one asks about nuts.
Ooooh, hell. I’m sorry.

Daily Mail begs to differ on his employability. Mr. Weiner has done rather well for himself.
There is some question regarding WHERE his wife has earned some of her “consulting fees.” Probably Muslim Brotherhood dosh. given her family connections.
Anthony Weiner is running for Mayor, not because he needs the money, but because politics is in his blood. Unfortunately, that blood is rather tainted, in Mr. Weiner’s case.
Anthony Weiner and his wife recently moved to Park Avenue in Manhattan. There is also speculation that some rich clients are providing him with below market rent at the luxurious, $3.3 million Manhattan pad owned by a deep-pocketed Democratic donor,
In the fall of 1960 I was a country boy newly arrived at Columbia and I ventured from 116th Street and Broadway down the hill to 125th Street in Harlem to see what it was all about. The campaign was in full swing – Dick Nixon versus Jack Kennedy and there on the corner of 125th St and broadway I discovered an apparent Nixon supporter. He was an African American gentleman of moderate age wearing a pinstriped suit and a big grin under sparkling eyes. He had a six inch campaign button reading “You can’t lick our Dick” pinned to his lapel. I learned that day something about the irony with which Black folks experience our country.
Gringo @6:32am gets it right.
Weiner is funny only in an 8th grade sort of way, which should cover a lot of NYC voters.
Despite his nutty (ha-ha) indiscretion, he is doing just fine. Undoubtedly some of our MB foreign aid is being recirculated back to Huma and him, he is not being audited by the IRS, he lives on Park Ave., he is a member of the political 1%.
He was taken to the woodshed by Hillary, chastized, resigned, and now he’s coming baack.
Of less importance than Weiner’s candidacy will be the percentage and number of people who vote for him.
Oops! should have been of greater importance.

Yes, it does. Male Reporters Harden Stances on Weiner Clash With Female Scribes,

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t want to pile on a politician who left office in such circumstances, but given 1)Weiner’s blatant lies when he was first caught [He was “hacked,” Weiner first claimed.] and 2) his attack dog approach to politics, I find it a pleasure to do so.
