Coolidge: man of the hour — 4 Comments

  1. Recently at another blog I frequent, the question was posed, “Who’s your favorite president?” and I answered Silent Cal.
Then I had to explain why.
    That disappointed me.

I believe he was Reagan’s favorite, also.

  2. CC had the correct approach. When a situation was best left to sort itself out with out DC intervening, do not intervene. When a situation required intervention, intervene softy and then stand back and allow the intervention to work/not work.

A Calvin is needed now and will be even more crucial as we chain the behemoth and squeeze it back into fences surrounding the lawful restraints on central government as defined in the constitution. Dozens of agencies and entire departments need to turn into ash.

  3. CC is much needed, but we will never be again so favored. Imagine the course of the USA had he run again and been reelected. Just imagine!

  4. As I noted in the Schlaes commentary section, Grover Cleveland (the only PotUS to serve two non-successive terms) was the last PotUS to truly understand the job the government has in society. I’ll not repeat it here, but if you haven’t read it, I recommend you do. All the modern problems start with Teddy (yes, Teddy was a RINO… LOL).

P.S., There are two comments from me there, the second is the one on Cleveland.
