Slow news day today
When there’s a slow news day these days I think “good.”
Republicans and conservatives (not always the same thing) have been feeling pretty low since the election. Elements of cynicism, anger, depression, resignation, and bleak humor swirl around the blogosphere. Some people have even stopped reading and withdrawn into their non-political shells.
I can’t say I blame them. Sometimes I’m tempted to join them, but I have no plans for that. First of all, I have too much to say! Second of all, blogging is a habit that’s hard to break. Third of all—you guys.
I don’t believe for a moment that “slow news” means “government taking it easy”. If anything, given the media, it means “government doing awesome stuff we agree with”.
And sadness.
…you missed sadness.

Thanks, neo. I kind of use your blog as my daily dose of group therapy. It guides me to look at issues from different perspectives, allows me to unload some of my angst on you and the group, and has remained here for me. (When other bloggers have burned out or died.) Whether it’s apparent to you, you are helping many to keep on keeping on. No mean feat, that

I’m not really depressed. Sad? – Yes. Depressed? Not at all.
I don’t roll that way. Well, usually.
I plan.
…sometime I just wish I didn’t have to plan.
So This Whole Thing has just made me …sad …is all.
I feel like that guy I’m sure that stood off on the edges of the crowd of people screaming for the golden calf …who wondered why the hell people didn’t seem to recall that they’d been so recently rescued from the bondage and servitude and the hardship of centuries. That they’d seen miracles, and the hand of G_d.
…the guy who had a foreboding that this idiocy wasn’t going to end well.
But who finally just shook his head in dismay, and figured that regardless of the crowd’s sheer weight of numbers …him and G_d? – They made a majority of two.
…as he made his way farther off, to the outlying edges, away from the …madness, let’s call it.
It’s sad to see, is all.
davisbr: Me too. Very sad. Grieving and flat. So, I’ll ‘Lean into it’, lick my wounds, thank a very Large God for this country and many great, stand-up people. But, right now, I am terribly sad.

Somehow I cannot resist the urge to ask whose trying to get a grip on Boehner.
Slow news days and scotch are a lethal combination for a nitwits. If only Anthony Weiner was still hanging around.

J.J. Formerly Jimmy J. puts it well. Thank you, Neo! I don’t post every day, but when I do, it’s always here. I come here every day to read the posts and feel I’m part of a community. Recently I’ve been worried that you’ll decide to move on. Don’t! You’re needed more now than ever.
davisbr is on to something. We need to make our way farther off.
Long term, literally; by emigrating en mass to the red states and leaving the blue states to sink in their hell. Short term, financially; wherever possible boycott them. Stop giving, or least practice giving less, money to their media, to their Hollywood, to their entertainment industry, to their Silicon Valley, to their galleries and their restaurants.
This won’t be easy because the blue tumor is so entwined in our lives, but we should try if only for the sake of our morale.

I admit that–for the first time in years–my post election issues of Weekly Standard, National Review and Commentary are mostly unread. The WStand. cover with Edvard Munch’s, “The Scream” was a pretty vivid summation. I do a quickie pass at Drudge twice a day and come here and Dr.Jacobson’s site daily…But, I’m basically in Time Out mode and winded, wounded and tired from the Lashing. And, the Horseshit in congress isn’t making me hurry to ‘get back’.
