The Muslim Brotherhood struts its stuff
Sad, sad, sad, sad.
Predictable, predictable, predictable, predictable.
As I wrote in February of 2011, not long after the whole Egyptian joyride began:
Amidst all the speculation, I think we discount the possibility of an Islamist state at our peril””and, to speak bluntly, those who discount it are fools, no matter how learned they may be.
The Muslim Brotherhood””the Islamist fundamentalist group based in Egypt””is such a fine name. Who could be against brotherhood (well, a few feminists; but you know what I mean)? The history of the group is a chilling one, however.
Etcetera, etcetera, and so forth—and on and on through tons of posts, including my very first one when the crisis began, in which I wrote:
I have been concerned from the start about the possible influence and popularity of the Muslim Brotherhood, a currently-banned Islamist fundamentalist group that has its roots in Egypt in the earlier part of the twentieth century…As a person who remembers the turmoil of the Iranian revolution of 1979””the different groups temporarily united for the Shah’s overthrow and then jockeying for position (vainly) against the fundamentalist Islamists who quickly established their dominance””I have to say the situation makes me nervous.
I must once again say that I claim no special expertise or prescience. This development was very obviously a serious risk from the start, and the Obama administration appeared not to understand that—or if they did understand it (and they gave absolutely no indication of it), to not care.
It was obvious to any mere mortal, but apparently not to the Messiah.
Smart diplomacy? Start anytime, Dems. Now would be good.
It takes a good deal of benefitting Obama a doubt to think he did not understand. Barack ‘The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam’ Obama invited the Brotherhood front row center when he spoke in Cairo ’08. His administration, if not rife with ‘brothers from the hood’ certainly has them strewn about.
His future is one that assaults Christianity and defends Islam; assaults moral conscience but defends the Prophet from criticism. The man would be a moral idiot if his actions did not claim him first as destructive radical. Obama is a muslim, if not in the mosque then in his soul.
Not just Obama, Hillary too, these 2 are the architects & perpetrators of what happened in the middle east. Don t forget some advisor to Hillary is a woman whos actual brother IS IN THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD !! Its obvious that muslims were salivating at the thought that the US would support & create a power vacuum that they could just step into. How lovely replace a West friendly strong man with a Muslim West hating, Christian hating extremist. Foolish Hillary as if Muslims would ever, follow dictates of a WOMAN secretary of State. These people are clueless, & they are running our foreign policy.
and they have put together the two parts that are required for Sarin and a gas attack from syria. they are coordinating across states and it wont be long till shoa II becomes obvious.
but note… the whole election of obama is a great example of what happens when you wait for obvious. we have obcvious now, but we are stuck. when we didnt have it, we could easily act.
when the UK wanted hitler to stop communism, they were blind to his own desires… by the time they were sure, 30 million were on the slate to be killed and there was no way to stop it.
now, fascist organizations are appealing to the only people with no representation… so its world wide fascism vs communism, and capitalism is dead…
there are no capitalist states left… are there?
hows that for judo?
This development was very obviously a serious risk from the start, and the Obama administration appeared not to understand that–or if they did understand it (and they gave absolutely no indication of it), to not care.
and the one choice that you left out is that he orchestrated it for that end and the ideas you put forth are the cover in ambiguity as you wont consider the thing you left off the list… Freudian… isnt it?
Neo, I wish you would have stood by freedom fighters instead of characterizing them as joy riders. Oh no, that would have be construed as standing with Obama.

It appeared that “if [the Obama administration] did understand it (and they gave absolutely no indication of it), [they didn’t] care.
I am not sure that we can dismiss the possibility that Obama does care and that this is the outcome Obama wanted.
I hope that isn’t true, but I’m afraid it might be.
Mubarak was a tyrant, but he was our tyrant. We did not stand up for him and now we have another tyrant, and he’s NOT our tyrant. Our position in the ME, though always tenuous, has slipped further.
After 9/11 I had great (but naive) hopes. Go after al Qaida in Afghanistan, then give Iraq a chance at a real Muslim democracy. Sounded like a plan. The scales have been ripped from my eyes. As Daniel Greenfield (Sultan Knish) says, “In our democracy salesmanship we never really troubled to ask ourselves why the Muslim world would want democracy and what it would do with it……..To the Muslim world, democracy did not mean individualism, it meant majority rule. Our democracy salesmen conceived of the Muslim world divided between the rule of its dictators and the will of its people. …………The Muslim world is not divided between the dictators and, that construct, the people. It is divided between the possible dictators that different groups within it champion.”

I am now believe it is foolish to ever hope for democracy in the Muslim world. Our policy there should be to defend ourselves and Israel from their aggression and keep the oil flowing as best we can.
Obama’s policy seems to be……well, what is it? It does not have any clear-eyed defense of America within it.
I figured an Egyptian Islamist state was inevitable once I heard some alleged expert on NPR say that it was unlikely.
So what do the huge protests against Morsi tonight signify?
I am now believe it is foolish to ever hope for democracy in the Muslim world.
Islam, for those who take it seriously, is fundamentally incompatible with democracy, because it substitutes the electorate for the proper decision-maker, Allah, and hence is blasphemous.
Coexist, indeed.

Call me cynical, but I think it’s a dead certainty.
From Insty, a pic of a sign in Egypt
Obama. Your bitch is our dictator.
‘well, a few feminists’
The term ‘brotherhood’ is no accident, is it?
‘or if they did understand it, to not care.’
Unfortunately, in all probability that is the case. Except that in reality they did care in the opposite sense, since Obama is a philosophical brother with the new Egyptian leadership. He wanted all this to happen. It was all intended. A similar fate is planned for America, in a few years.
‘Call me cynical, but I think it’s a dead certainty.’
Perhaps, but discerning the difference between evil and indifference is no easy task. An argument can be made either way. I’m not sure it matters though, in terms of the outcome.
Molly NH:
The Muzzie VERY close to Hillary is Huma Abedin. One of her closest and omnipresent ‘advisors’. The MSM left her off the screen altogether once the novelty of her nominally Jewish husband, ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner (of wiener fame) wore off. I believe she is still married to that roach, was pregnant, and may by now be mama to his offspring.
A very strange world these folks live in.
Obama threw Mubarak under the bus in an instant. But as someone else asked, “What is the difference between Mubarak and Morsi except Mubarak was a loyal ally and Morsi is an Islamist?”
Fool, or knave? It’s possible to be both.
Who is Sec. of State Hillary’s closest aide again (since 1996)? Huma Abedin, who along with her family has direct ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (see Andy McCarthy’s PJMedia posts for more detail). This didn’t just happen, and Obama is long past the point of being considered a fool.
Off topic but I still wanna rant about this where it will be read:
Detroit wants The One to bail it out because they voted for him.
http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/20264712/detroit-councilwoman-to-obama-we-supported-you-now-support-us
I want the hell outta this screwed up country.
Very good points by everybody. So sad for Egypt, what will happen to the historical treasures
there ? My, God there will always be a concern that they will be obliterated in a Muslim state !
I imagine archeology there will stop. Coptic Christians (the most ancient branch, there for 2,000 years are under threat) yet their numbers are 10 million & they will live under harrasment, threats. I shudder to think of Christmas for them
we will hear of bombings & deaths on Christmas Eve, once again a repeat of what has happened just last year with Mubarack gone.
Hubris of Hillary & Obama is breath taking, I was talking about this with my husband.
Could it be that they, surrounded for years now by sycophants, yes people, those looking for favors only too ready to satisfy their every whim,
could they be so mentally impoverished that they think normal people will give no push back????
Do they think their pronouncement are taken by citizens in Egypt & bhenghazi etc as words from On High ??? Why haven t Hillary & Obama figured out that others have agendas too. They are in foreign service & childishly assume “well everybody else does what I want, of course foreigners will be only too eager to follow my dictates too”.
JJ,
“I am now believe it is foolish to ever hope for democracy in the Muslim world. Our policy there should be to defend ourselves and Israel from their aggression and keep the oil flowing as best we can.”
I concur. And IMO, Daniel Greenfield is one of the most astute observers of the Middle East and the left.
Ed B.,
“So what do the huge protests against Morsi tonight signify?”
The last gasp of a distinct minority. Consider these facts; 84% of Egyptians support the death penalty for apostasy. That same percentage voted for the Muslim Brotherhood candidates for their parliament. The remaining 16% in a population of 80+ million are more than enough to fill Tahrir Square with protestors, while having zero chance of affecting Egypt’s descent into the slavery of Shariah law. The new draft constitution will now be submitted to the public for an up-or-down vote, that same 84% will vote for it.
Rachelle,
Under the current conditions, how else is Obama going to be able to assist in the destruction of Israel?
Gary Rosen,
“What is the difference between Mubarak and Morsi except Mubarak was a loyal ally and Morsi is an Islamist?”
Mubarak was in charge, Morsi is a figurehead, he reports to the Muslim Brotherhood’s charismatic leader, Khairat al-Shater. The Muslim Brotherhood is the spiritual godfather of Al Qaeda.
Here is how al-Shater proclaimed the Brotherhood’s objective in April 2011, right after the Islamist victory in the amendments referendum that has led to Egypt’s new Shariah compliant constitution:
“You all know that our main and overall mission as Muslim Brothers is to empower God’s religion on earth, to organize our life and the lives of the people on the basis of Islam, to establish the Nahda [i.e., the Renaissance] of the ummah [i.e., the notional global Muslim nation] and its civilization on the basis of Islam, and to subjugate people to God on earth.”
“Egypt thus becomes the Sunni version of Iran’s totalitarian regime, in which Shiite mullahs exercise ultimate authority.
And how exactly is sharia interpreted by the scholars of al-Azhar, whose alumni include such jihadist eminences as Sheikh Qaradawi and the Blind Sheikh? Not to wear you out with Spring Fever, but as it outlines (with citations to the Azhar-approved, Brotherhood-certified sharia manual, Reliance of the Traveller) [written in 1368], they interpret it to call for: death to apostates from Islam; “charitable” contributions to those fighting jihad (expressly defined as “war against non-Muslims”); discrimination against women; discrimination against non-Muslims; death to homosexuals; death to those who spy against Muslims; death by stoning for adulterers; and so on.
It is going to be a long, cold spring.”
“So sad for Egypt, what will happen to the historical treasures there ? My, God there will always be a concern that they will be obliterated in a Muslim state!”
Calls to Destroy Egypt’s Great Pyramids Begin
“According to several reports in the Arabic media, prominent Muslim clerics have begun to call for the demolition of Egypt’s Great Pyramids–or, in the words of Saudi Sheikh Ali bin Said al-Rabi’i, those “symbols of paganism,” which Egypt’s Salafi party has long planned to cover with wax. Most recently, Bahrain’s “Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs” and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt’s new president, Muhammad Morsi, to “destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what the Amr bin al-As [circa 641] could not.”
“Everything, if it is a pagan statue or idol, that is worshiped or suspected to be worshipped, or is worshipped by one person on Earth, must be destroyed. We, or someone else, must destroy it,” Morgan Al-Gohary, a jihadi sheikh with a history of radicalism and connections with the Taliban, during a recent appearance on the private Egyptian TV channel Dream TV2.
The only consolation is that when radical jihadists force the US and Israel to turn Cairo and much of the M.E. into a glass parking lot, as retaliation for nuclear terrorist attacks, the loss of priceless antiquities won’t be a consideration.
Artfldgr and others: to those who thought my writing that Obama might not care that the Muslim Brotherhood took over in Egypt meant that I had either discounted the possibility that he wanted that to happen or even planned for that to happen, I actually meant to subtly hint at that as a possibility, as well, when I wrote the last sentence of my post.
I guess I was too subtle. So let me clarify: I think it’s a possibility. But what I think is more likely, actually, is that either way was okay with him. That what I meant by “not care.” If liberal democracy friendly to the US took Mubarak’s place in Egypt, then well and good, because Obama would be lauded for it. And if a new dictator of the Islamicist kind did arose, that would be fine with him as well, because he wouldn’t get serious blame for it except from people who already didn’t think much of him; he’d never be called to task. And he thinks the US is too powerful in the world anyway.
I don’t think Obama, however, has some secret plan to have Islamicists take over the Middle East, because he’s some sort of secret Muslim. My reading of him is that he subscribes to no religion. He does want US power to ebb, however, IMHO.
“My reading of him is that he subscribes to no religion. He does want US power to ebb, however, IMHO.”
I agree but he’s a bit of a conundrum. If he is an Islamist and, there is much circumstantial evidence to indicate that possibility, he is not a devout Muslim. I don’t think he’s ever prayed 5 times a day toward Mecca for instance. Then again, he definitely believes in and practices Taqqiya. Perhaps even Michelle doesn’t really know where his heart of hearts resides.
The smartest man ever to be president, and he was fooled?
Can’t buy that.
“But what I think is more likely, actually, is that either way was okay with him. That what I meant by “not care.” … He does want US power to ebb, however, IMHO.”
I agree and I’ll slightly tweak that to Obama doesn’t care if US power not only ebbs, but he’s inviting US failure on the international stage.
Obama could formally change the course of US foreign policy and make formal the Democrats’ ‘neo-isolationism’ and withdraw US influence overseas. But instead he’s continued the liberal foreign policy while gutting it of the means to influence. In other words, rather than have the US quit, take our ball and go home, he’s placed the US on the path to lose and fail, instead. It’s like he’s trying to kill the possibility of US influence ever venturing forth again, more than just withdrawing US influence.
The Muslim Brotherhood probably has the strongest links to Leftism in the US. What with the Islamic Black Panther history and various other tie ins. They also have a solid front operation CAIR and tend to do things more on the sly, like Democrats, than the more fiercy and direct Al Qaeda.
America is very weak to indirect, traitorous, and internal threats.
The sadistic enmity of the Left knows no limits. Those that cannot imagine it, that cannot understand it enough to hate it, will need to try harder. Assuming there’s a world left for them to do it in.
I don’t call them enemies of humanity for nothing.
