  1. Lula: “Turn in your passport so we can shoot you.”
Flavio Bolsinaro: ” OK I promise – right away.”

Flavio Bolsinaro then crossed into a remote part of Argentina from Brazil. Flew to Ecuador on private jet. Then flew to Miami with wife and daughters and Trump is giving them visas. His brother, Eduardo fled Brazil already and is in the US.

Bolsinaro’s father is under house arrest for life in Brazil.

Alex Soros calls all this ‘democracy.”

  2. Meanwhile in a non-rigged election:

All the headlines about the Israel elections: “Netanyahu loses and Israeli voters deliver strong rebuke to his policies.”

Kalshi and Polymarket gave him no chance.

Reality: Netanyahu got more votes than Eisenkot and Bibi’s coaltion got more votes than Eisenkot.

From what I read, look for a unity government as Eisenkot realizes another election will be worse for him apparently.

  3. As a non-Jew who spent a couple months in Israel just before the first Intifada, I find this article to be most enlightening. It is an interview with “Dan Schueftan, 83, an influential Israeli thinker who isn’t a household name in the U.S.” What he tells us is enlightening both about Israel and about us here in the U.S. (He did not vote for Bibi, because Bibi has catered too much to the ultra-Orthodox.)

His views are like a tonic. Here’s one taste:

What is the ideological temper of Israeli society?

The great thing about Israeli society is that it is concentrated in the middle of the political spectrum. Israel’s political system is polarized, its society isn’t. This is the advantage we have over the American society. American society is polarized. I spoke in the U.S. Senate a few years ago and I told them if I were an American, I would advocate a two-state solution, a Democratic state and a Republican state. You don’t speak to each other. In Israel we shout at each other. We curse each other, but we’re basically in the same place. And we deal with our difficulties by passionately debating them but then working together.

  4. France is and always has been a great nation and the French are a great people. I really dislike the reflexive disparaging of France that so many Americans and Brits so often express.

Just as a reminder: In 1914 France decisively defeated what was then generally regarded as the finest army in all history at the Battle of the Marne, saving Europe and the rest of the world from a German hegemony that would have proved, IMO, most unpleasant. Then it went toe-toe with the Germans at Verdun in the longest and arguably the bloodiest field battle in the annals of military history and emerged the victor.

And that’s just for starters. I am well of aware of Frances flaws and setback and problematic aspects. I am equally aware of Amerca’s — also a great nation and people.

    Vive la France, vive America.
