  1. Niketas Choniates, Chases Eagles and other Puget Sounders, much has been discussed recently on the decline and fall of Seattle. How bad is it actually? Are the outer burbs where you reside affected? What is the feeling inside Seattle itself? Is it possible to turn the decline around? I look at the past mayors and the present makeup of the City Council and come away with not much hope for a turnaround. It is dispiriting that destructive radicals get voted into office. It is a sad fact of life that in Seattle a person with traditional American values has absolutely no chance to be elected to any position of power in Seattle. In fact, I believe that such a person running for public office would find life to be very difficult and would be forced to leave. I have some experiences with that myself.

    A very different place from when I was a Seattle resident from 1975 to 1993. It was then a golden age of growth, vitality and prosperity. The fishermen. lumbermen and machinists whose labor made the city prosperous in earlier times would cry in sorrow if they could return today to see what it has become
