Another illegal alien is arrested for murder
An 18-year-old woman, out walking with friends in Chicago, was murdered recently and a Venezuelan national in this country illegally has been charged. Not only that, but he had previously been arrested for shoplifting and released back into the community instead of being turned over for deportation – which happened, as you might imagine, during the Biden administration.
Will authorities in Chicago finally turn him over to the feds? Not yet – plus this:
The illegal migrant accused of executing a Chicago college student in cold blood last week failed to show up for a Monday hearing because he is being hospitalized for a rare contagious disease.
Jose Medina-Medina, a 25-year-old Venezuelan national, was not at the hearing because he requires treatment for tuberculosis, the Chicago Tribune reported.
He’s quite the poster child for “illegal aliens are our strength.”
I also wondered why the article said TB is “rare.” It’s certainly not common in the US but I wouldn’t call it rare. And, as one might expect, see this from October 2024:
Unfortunately, after decades of decline, TB is beginning to resurface in the United States. In fact, cases of TB have grown significantly in recent years. The number of TB cases in the U.S. has increased 34 percent between 2020 and 2023. The number of TB cases is now higher than pre-pandemic levels (2019).
– Nationally, 76 percent of TB cases in 2023 occurred in foreign-born patients.
– Counties, states and metropolitan areas with high foreign-born populations have higher TB rates than those with lower foreign-born populations.
– Some countries of origin for both legal and illegal aliens have TB rates as high as 60 times the U.S. rate.
– The government’s health screening for TB in potential immigrants is deficient; some categories of aliens do not undergo health screening at all.
– Latent TB is not grounds for inadmissibility, even though the progression of latent TB accounts for over 80 percent of active TB cases in the U.S.
– Some U.S. border counties have TB rates exceeding rates in high-risk countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon.
– The cost of treating each case of TB is over $20,000, and can reach over $500,000 if the case is extensively drug-resistant.
How is the New York Times covering the story?Seems to be a version of “Republicans pounce”:
Loyola University Chicago was shaken last week when someone shot and killed one of its students, Sheridan Gorman, as she walked with friends near Lake Michigan.
For days, the police said little about what happened, only that “an unknown male offender” had approached the group at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, displayed a gun and fired in their direction. Ms. Gorman, 18, who was recalled by friends as generous and fun, was killed.
As Ms. Gorman’s family and friends grieved, her death was thrust into the nation’s contentious immigration debate on Sunday when the Trump administration said that a man arrested in connection with the killing was from Venezuela and in the United States illegally.
The subtitle of the article is: “Sheridan Gorman, 18, was killed last week near Loyola University Chicago. The Trump administration has sought to highlight crimes committed by undocumented people in its deportation campaign.”
And what on earth is this?:
… Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden suggested Gorman and her friends may have unintentionally startled the armed suspect.
“The kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood,” Hadden told Fox 32. “They may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, running into a person who had a gun.”
“They might have unintentionally startled this person at the end of the pier,” she added. “We don’t believe there is cause for broader community concern.”
No, nothing to worry about.

Bad week for “The Pitt” to drop an episode with a “message” theme about ICE. It had two ICE Agents that supposedly hurt a Hispanic illegal alien after tackling her to make an arrest. One agent is constantly wearing a mask, which for Taylor Lorenz should make sense for someone having to visit a hospital, right? The agents won’t let her communicate with family. And people start walking out of the ER supposedly because they feared ICE. The Resident complains about losing these “emergency” patients when they are already in over capacity crisis and patients able to walk out of an ER, probably didn’t need emergent care. On top of all this, the Resident complains that employees are leaving because of ICE. Why would employees leave? Does the hospital hire illegal aliens?
Now a real hospital is treating a murderous illegal alien that has managed to evade ICE. This patient has a contagious and dangerous disease likely because they weren’t following US vaccination protocol in Venezuela and weren’t checked for vaccination as they crossed the US border illegally. Or maybe they are just anti-vax?
I worry about the backlash.
Like norm macdonald the chutzpah of these people
This copied the terrible law and order episode from earlier in the season when an illegal was the only witness to a murder case
This slithy tove hadden is a piece of…work isnt she
I have been enjoying “The Pitt” so much. I guess I was hoping we’d enjoy a longer grace period before it went full woke.
Since this illegal immigrant is not a resident of the State of Illinois, can an argument be made that his murder falls within Federal rather than State jurisdiction? If so, might not he be given a speedy trial and upon conviction receive the death penalty? And since not a US citizen, denied appeal followed by a swift execution. As, the effectiveness of deterrence relies upon the certainty and promptness of consequence. Justified by the principle that in unilaterally denying their victim’s right to life, the perpetrator has forfeited their own claim to a right to life.
The “unintentionally startled” bit is astonishing. That’s the excuse you make for animals. Does Alderwoman not realize what she’s implying? The very best construction you can put on it is that the “person with a gun” was engaged in something that made him ready to shoot people if “startled.”
On top of all neo’s correct info, this “lovely” illegal is being treated for tuberculosis! The extent of the damage done to this country by admitting some 20 million illegals in I fear is just beginning to be known. Terror cells, diseases that have been all but eradicated, criminals with records escaping arrest in their own countries, gangs, fraudsters draining public funds in addition to draining our safety net, literal crazies (not all and yes, it bothers me that Trump paints all with that broad brush. HOWEVER, I’m in favor of all illegal entries being returned to their countries and required to enter legally. That includes visa overstays, etc). And I don’t think a reminder is needed regarding all these coming during a pandemic but they were not tested, treated, or forced to wear masks….. I’m also vehemently in favor of the SAVE Act with voter ID. It is inexplicable that Dems are against that for one reason: to commit massive voter fraud. That they can get in front of a mike and repeat their gaslighting, using the MSM as their megaphones. Headache coming on thinking of all this….
I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.
Not a new theme, but one increasingly appropriate.
Shoot the bastard.
I thought Chicago had very strict gun laws. I thought guns were a public health hazard.
“I thought guns were a public health hazard.”
Not if you are an illegal alien, the only people libs will allow their full 2A rights.
One had to know something was up on the Loyola murder. Day or two after the crime I started looking it up and other than being a 29yo male who did it no name was given by mostly Democrat/ Marxist Propaganda outlets.
“The illegal migrant accused of executing a Chicago college student”
An execution is a judicially ordered legal homicide. This is obviously not an execution. You are being lied to.
Unless it’s the Mafia…
(To be sure, the more one reads of all those “judgments” formulated by Democratic Party
judgesjudicial hacks, the more truly “judicial” the Mafia appears to be…)– – – – – – –
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time would seem, IIRC, to echo the vaunted ex-LA Fire Chief—another remarkably dense/twisted DEI hire—who, unless I’m mistaken (usually the case, alas) emoted that charming sentiment in the aftermath of the brush-conflagration in that once-great city.
I guess one could say that at least those dudettes are “on message”…
My daughter was at Loyola-Chicago twenty years ago. She says it wasn’t safe back then, certainly not in the middle of the night. But that’s no excuse for murder.
Sheridan Gorman has been reduced to a statistic and someone who was “generous and fun”. And to the Democrats, she isn’t even that.
I can’t believe this alderwoman is trying to blame the victim. There really is no low underneath which these people will crawl.
There is a strain of M. tuberculosis that is resistant to all antibiotics. But we don’t hear about it. It arose in the wretched parts of the earth, where TB is most common, and the four drugs most useful against TB are in limited supply, and often are not taken correctly.
This fact has been known for a while, but is not acknowledged for a variety of “reasons” held by the Left.
Another unnecessary death thanks to Joe Biden’s open borders policy.
Made an academic could add up the deaths and other criminal costs due to Biden and the Dems’ open border policy and put a number on it. It’s a giant number.
Import the third world become the third world. It sounds trite but it’s never been truer.
You stinking conservatives, always thrusting things into contentious debates.
