  1. I know that bugs and crashes are part of the game, but couldn’t they do better than “Too many requests” when that is not the problem?

  2. I didn’t have that issue today. But on another issue noted a little while back, I still have to Refresh to ensure that the most recent posts appear.

  3. Watt,
“I still have to Refresh to ensure that the most recent posts appear.”

    Did you mean “comments”?
As in: “… to ensure that the most recent comments appear” ?

I often have to refresh to see the actual comments that are listed under Neo’s “Recent comments” heading.
    .
    Been so for several weeks.

  4. I often have to refresh to see the actual comments that are listed under Neo’s “Recent comments” heading.

I notice that too, but don’t know for sure what’s happening.

My current theory is that if one clicks a “Recent Comment” entry and doesn’t see the comment, it’s because the comment is being withheld until the 10 minute editing window has elapsed.

The necessity for refreshing of comments (and/or posts) seems to happen – at least for me – only on my smartphone. On the desktop there’s never a problem. I find it puzzling and haven’t been able to fix it – yet. But I think it’s a cache problem.

I have the same problem on my phone with Instapundit, Ace, and several other blogs, by the way.

  6. Huxley & Neo,
    Good to know. Thanks!
I rarely get to read this on a PC, so I don’t have my own data.
The 10 min. edit window may indeed be handled differently on smartphones. Or less well. Heh.
    Tech is a wiley wormhole.

Oh! Huxley, do you experience it on a PC?

  7. I am having the refresh to see newest comments issue on my laptop (Mac Safari). Have been for several weeks, I think.

  8. I am not a deep expert here, but if by refresh you mean reload, then I would think the following is the reason for a “refresh” to see newer comments:
Your browser downloads a set of info from Neo’s server, displaying whatever set of comments were posted at the time of your initial sign in or access to that web page. Unless perhaps your browser software has a setting that periodically requests an updated view of the server “behind the scenes”, you would have to make a manual request yourself for another download, by which time new comments may have been added (or not).
I have to do that for my PC viewing with an Opera browser.

  9. Oh! Huxley, do you experience it on a PC?

    Marlene:

Yes. Windows 11, Brave browser. Sometimes I click on the latest “Recent Comment” and end up at the top of the post. Some time later I click again or refresh and see the new comment.
