TDS of the disabling variety — 18 Comments

  1. Progressive Liberals have bet a lot on the peaceable behavior of others, that’s all I can say. And they seem to have bet correctly that the modern litigious society has ordinary people running scared – or maybe it’s because of our multi-tiered systems of justice.

In the annals of conventional America, guys used to punch out other guys when they decided to step over the line into obnoxious behavior territory, and it was mostly accepted by both parties as well as LE that this was an acceptable form of dispute resolution. Now people are apparently intimidated sufficiently that they’re unwilling to step up, so they tamp down the rage when they see something that is deeply unfair or even violent. That isn’t good in the long run, nor is it usually successful.

  2. It’s not a matter of approving of Trump or not; it’s that most of the TDS sufferers I’ve known (too many) have not been able to give a coherent answer as to why they hate Trump. “He’s a Nazi” is not a coherent answer.

  3. LoLz,,,! “Drinking straws.” We were that incidentally creative at a young age, right?

I’ll share one of mine: the Kaleidoscope.
I thought ir was a broken or joke of a telescope.
Because I was so literal, I could not see rhe point!

  4. The problem is, who is going to provide mental health therapy to the mental health therapists, as so many of them are also infused with TDS.

I work with a bunch of TDS infused Dems, and I have my own little “Easy” button in mentioning Trump’s name just to create fun Drama

  6. “…not a coherent answer.”

To the contrary, if Trump is a Nazi, then anything and everything is PERMITTED.

It’s a “Get out of jail free” card.
    IOW TREMENDOUSLY liberating!
    AKA, EXTREMELY USEFUL!!
(Think Primal Scream to the nth degree…as well as “The Joys of Yiddish Political Violence, Utter Dishonesty, Non-Stop Intimidation and Political Assassination”.)

In fact, two of my faves are:
    – If Trump wants to save the country, then clearly, the country MUST be destroyed.
    – If Trump is against Anti-Semitism then Anti-Semitism MUST BE VIRTUOUS. (This of course is a variant on “If Trump supports Israel then Israel must be expunged”.)

I mean, just think about it…

(No doubt there are many, many others….)

  8. There are two things I would like to say about: a) [J.E., the criminal, and about the Federal Government’s- EPSTEIN FILES, which are files and evidence about some crimes done by Jeffrey Epstein.

In those two things/points about the Epstein [criminal] files, I also want to talk about, b) President Donald Trump’s possible connection, [or as I believe, none], to those files:

My first point is: these are two of the rights of everyone in The United States- one is: everyone, [even someone really famous, and someone disliked by a number of…unfair reporters, a someone like Mr. Donald Trump], is [innocent] unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Trump has not been found guilty in a court of: doing crimes with Epstein, as in [he’s not been found guilty of taking a part in any of Epstein’s crimes].
Jeffrey Epstein, I believe, [was found guilty in a court of law], of doing sexual crimes, but that, even thought Trump once was an acquaintance of Epstein’s, that does not mean that Trump: 1) joined in with, or did, any of the crimes that Jeffrey Epstein has done, or that, 2 ) that Trump knew that these crime(s) were being done by Epstein.

In The U.S.- you are not guilty of a crime, unless it has been proven that you’ve done one crime or more. That is your legal right.

A reporter who doesn’t like you, can’t make it a fact…that you have done a crime, just because he doesn’t like you.
Our laws do not work that way.

Also, another right that everyone in The US has, is: you don’t have to testify against yourself, in a court.
That is a negative thing that you, in theory, could do to yourself.
It is called self incrimination. Being forced to do self incrimination is an unfair action. You don’t have to do self incrimination in The US.

I’ll also include, just as my own…personal rule- that you don’t have to testify against yourself, just to satisfy [the general public’s curiosity]. That type of testifying is also unfair.

My second point is: one reason that President Trump might have to [not] release all of the Government’s information/files in the criminal files of Jeffrey Epstein,…in my own theory, is: if there is evidence that hasn’t been release to the public, of- [women], and possibly of other people, that have been victims of the sexual crimes of Jeffrey Epstein, one idea is- maybe: President Trump and his Cabinet [don’t] want to release that evidence to the public…and to the press because- that might cause these victimized people- unneeded stress, and unwanted publicity, and unwanted…public shame, to have released to the public, evidence of: that person, or those persons- having been victims of sexual crimes or being victims of threats of sexual crimes], of Jeffrey Epstein.

In my view of things- what if: my mother, my sister, my girlfriend, or someone’s spouse, or anyone that I care about, or anyone that ANYBODY cares about, is mentioned in those files?

I wouldn’t want those people’s names being put out in the public, [as being victims of sexual crimes], without those victimized people’s [permissions] to do so.

There are a lot of people in the public that DON’T have a mature attitude about sex, and these people…also DON’T have a mature view about actions called sexual crimes.

Unless these suspected crimes, or evidence of them, are used in a court of law, I believe- the public doesn’t need know about the evidence of- these crimes or suspected crimes, without a good reason.

I believe it would be a [bad] idea to 100% release these files to the public, and to the press at large, because [I believe that the innocent victims of these crimes need to be protected from unwanted, and sometimes negative, public scrutiny.]

Unless these victim(s) WANT the general public to know, that these victims, [who are also vulnerable people], that these people were victims of- a crime, or crimes, then- I believe that these people need to be protected from: unwanted scrutiny and from unwanted publicity.

In my view, it is a good action to protect people from: unwanted publicity, and from unneeded public scrutiny.

  9. I think that if the Epstein files are all released, victims’ names would be redacted.

“I have never said that these files will implicate Donald Trump,” [Representative Thomas] Massie said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “I really don’t think that they will.”

“I really think he is trying to protect a bunch of rich and powerful friends, billionaires, donors to his campaign, friends in his social circles,” he added. “That is my operating theory on why he is trying so hard to keep these files closed.”
    […]
[House Speaker Mike] Johnson, meanwhile, reiterated that if Democrats and others truly cared about the case, they would have fought to release all the files when President Joseph R. Biden was in office and Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress.

  10. Hi Selfy,

    I would like that, however:

what if, in my words, the files [are released- “just to prove that Trump or some other person is a bad guy”, or- just to satisfy a pride-driven curiosity of the Congress, or-just to satisfy the general public’s…idle curiosity], and then some rich guy/person gets named, or a rich person in the government gets named.

And after that- that rich guy gets ticked off for being made-to-look-bad, in those files.

And then that rich guy [sues] the Government, to try to clear his name.

And…the rich guy, to clear “his good name”, asks the judge to call as witnesses, ALL of the people that were mentioned in the file, along with the rich guy, and he asks that all of the involved people’s names be redacted, so that the public and the nation, can “hear the truth”.

That makes a situation, where the redacted person(s)’s name, and maybe other information, might be revealed in court, to try to prove that the rich guy is- innocent of all bad actions, and any possible slanders that were put on his name.

In my view, it looks like there is no good in- revealing the
Jeffrey Epstein files, [outside] of a court case.

Unless the innocent victims want to take Jeffrey Epstein’s workers + helpers…who allegedly helped him do his sexual crimes, to court- it looks like there would be no good in revealing these files to the general public.

In my view: unless the files are needed for evidence in a court case- it doesn’t look like releasing the files to the public, is an idea that would help any persons, in any practical way.

  11. “When men stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing; they believe in anything.”

    – G.K. Chesterton

(Or so it’s usually attributed, by some accounts the he actually expressed the idea differently in a story, but the basic concept is the same.)

That’s relevant to TDS (which didn’t start with Trump, 20 years ago it was Bush Derangement Syndrome) because to many on the Left, they’ve invested their political policies and alignments with literally religious significance, even if they don’t call it that or even realize it themselves. If Trump were to resign tomorrow and Vance was implementing MAGA policies, we’d see Vance Derangement Syndrome emerge.

Which in turn means that when someone (be it GWB or DT) starts doing things that violate those assumptions, start applying policies that conflict, they don’t just react with disagreement or even ordinary anger, but with the sort of fury that heresy generates. They react to political opposition as a manifestation of evil.

They can’t name the reason for their rage because they don’t (I tend to think) even understand it themselves. They just know they’re encountering something that that emotionally, viscerally offends them, that shouldn’t exist. Anathema. The fact that huge swaths of their countrymen consciously support it compounds the rage and fury and the underlying fear that goes with it.

What’s the cure? There really isn’t one, except for the people suffering from the TDS/BDS/etc. to come to terms with the reality of life and emotionally accept that reality.

  12. Doggone.
Please, when you read my second comment, replace the line, “he asks that all of the involved people’s names be redacted”, with the line- [he asks that all of the involved people’s names be un-redacted].

    Thanks.

  13. I don’t recall any mention of ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) when
    barack HUSSEIN obama was president.
    Why is that??

My guess it’s because Trump is loudly vilified, insulted and branded a Hitler, 24/7/365 by the media, and some (many?) folks are very susceptible to this sort of propaganda.

What if the media had done the same with obama?

Honestly, I don’t know, but I think liberal progressives are mostly driven by emotions whereas conservatives are perhaps more fact driven.
I say this because when one sees online someone being asked why they hate Trump, the usual response is “he is a fascist;” but they cannot provide specific examples of this.
Their hatred of Trump is a reflex.

The media will NOT change because they know how effective their propaganda outlets are in molding public opinion.
Supposedly some media programs have been losing money. This may be true, but so what.
They have been losing money for years and they , until very recently , have not done anything about it.

This tells you that the folks running the corporations that broadcast this unending Trump is Hitler message are more than willing to lose money on some shows.

I will predict that whatever comes next from the sewers of CNN, et. al., will just me more of the same.

  14. I think that Demoncrats coined the phrase “Obama Derangement Syndrome,” and the GOP re-coined it for TDS. A web search will confirm this.

The Demoncrat Media are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Demoncrat Party.

  15. sdferr:

I sure remember Charles Krauthammer. A chess player and a guy who never complained.

It was years before I got the memo that he was paralyzed from the age of 22 on.

    RIP Charles Krauthammer (1950-2018).

  16. Why do we see Trump *specifically* Derangement Syndrome?

Why is there not Hitler Derangement Syndrome or Hurricane Derangement Syndrome?

Seems to me another pop culture persuasion technique of “branding” a phenomenon, like naming winter snowstorms.
