Dennis Prager’s first interview on video since his accident — 14 Comments

  1. Wow. Thanks for posting this. I had recently been thinking about him and wondering how he was. Amazing. I downloaded his Happiness is a Serious Problem book on Audible awhile ago but haven’t listened yet. I will prioritize it.

  2. I believe that was recorded in Nov ’24. I’ve seen a few interviews (on FNC, I think) since then where he appears to have improved quite a lot (sitting with some arm gestures, for example) but still not back to his old self.

  3. I listed to Dennis on radio for well over 10 years, maybe 15 not sure. Learned a lot from him and his books, especially the Bible series.i have missed him and Rush as don’t listen to any radio shows now.

  4. crasey,

Nope that was recorded last Sunday because there is another video with him and Marisa where they are watching the Charlie Kirk memorial together and she is dressed the same and he is also wearing that blue shirt/sweater.

He is paralyzed from the neck down probably permanently.

  5. I have also seen updates with his sons and brother where they have said that he is paralyzed and getting him to breathe on his own has been the huge challenge but that mentally he is pretty much the same although in this interview they touch on that a little and he mentions that he has always had a poor memory so it’s hard for him to judge how much he may or may not have lost mentally.

  6. Neo, on your recommendation/mention, I started this interview with the intent of listening to the first eight minutes, looking for what might have stood out to you. But I found myself so intrigued and drawn to his demeanor and what he was sharing I didn’t want to stop. I continued on, pausing part way through to, with a full heart, express my gratitude here for this post/prompt, along with my thankfulness for this man’s life and ability to continue to communicate, reveal his thoughts, and be “transparent”.

  7. On Jordan Peterson’s Exodus roundtable, Prager brought linguistic clarity to many of the biblical passages. I am particularly grateful to him for explaining the passage about God ‘hardening Pharaoh’s heart’ which had always puzzled me. According to Prager, the context and original Hebrew meaning of the word was ‘to strengthen’. Pharaoh ‘wanted’ that strength and God gave it to him. Thank you Dennis, that had bothered me for over 60 years!
And I wish all the best for you and hope you will be able to share more of your knowledge going forward.

  8. In my 50’s I used to get up on a ladder to work on the roof of our three story house.

But, then, I read the story about a newly retired head of Special Forces, a man in his 50’s-60’s, and presumably in excellent shape, who fell from working on his low roof, and was paralyzed, and told he would never walk again.

I took that as sign, and no more ladder work for me.

P.S. As you might imagine, this officer was a determined type, and he walked out of the hospital several months later.

  9. @ Snow – good for you! It’s a wise decision to take cognizance of changes in our physical abilities.

AesopSpouse has always done the normal “roof work” for us, including helping trim some of the pine trees at our mission site in 2023, but I finally convinced him to at least quit going up the ladder unless I was at home to call 911 when I heard a thud.

Seriously, our family has known three elderly men who fell doing the things they had always done (painting the exterior of the house, climbing into the attic space, checking the swamp cooler) and either were killed or very seriously hurt.

Our balance isn’t as good as it used to be.
I hold onto stair rails all the time now, and have multiple granny bars in the bathrooms.
And I always take my phone when I’m working outside.

  10. I’ve admired Dennis so long, I stll cannot believe he’s off the air.

Dennis Prager is the most intellectual and sensible voice in the Rightsphere that I’ve always recommended listening to him to noobs and the ignorant Left, as their talk show initiation.

    Dennis Prager cannot be replaced.

  11. @Snow and AesopFan:
Yes, acknowledging our creeping age and creeping declines, I no longer get up on an extension ladder without someone around to call 911 or provide other help. Fortunately I am usually only dealing with single story roofs, nothing much higher than 15′.

And the same for using chain saws – wait for someone else to be around JIC, stop more frequently to avoid getting overly tired, and let the pros handle the larger tree felling and disposal jobs. They cost more than I like, but the crews I hire are good and it helps the local economy. 🙂
