2020 election fraud, revisited
My position on the 2020 election fraud allegations has long been that we will never know for sure what occurred and to what extent, but that the extensive mail-in balloting created the opportunity and that the motive was certainly there.
Now, four and a half years later, we have this news (which never would have come out without the election of Trump and the changing of the leadership of the FBI, as well as GOP control of the Senate):
FBI Director Kash Patel on Monday evening turned over to Congress an intelligence report raising concerns that China had mass-produced fake U.S. driver’s licenses to carry out a scheme to hijack the 2020 election with fake mail-in ballots for Democrat Joe Biden.
The newly declassified intelligence reports from August 2020 weren’t corroborated or fully investigated and instead were recalled from intelligence agencies at about the time that then-FBI Director Chris Wray testified there were no known plots of foreign interference ahead of the 2020 election in which Biden defeated Donald Trump, officials told Just the News.
The new documents were turned over to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa …
Officials who have seen the documents told Just the News the FBI had a relatively new confidential source who provided information in summer 2020 that the Chinese government was manufacturing and exporting fake U.S. driver’s licenses as part of a plot to create voter identities for Chinese residents living in the United States so they could vote with fake mail-in ballots. …
They also said the intelligence report was recalled within a few weeks and the allegations never fully investigated, on the grounds that the source needed to be re-interviewed.
But, in fact, another agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, had intercepted nearly 20,000 fake licenses around the time the intelligence came in a possible corroboration of the report, officials said.

China had collected private US user data from millions of TikTok accounts, to include name, ID and address, which would allow the Chinese government to use real US persons’ information to create the fraudulent driver’s license. The fraudulent driver’s licenses were to include true ID number and true address of US citizens, making them difficult to detect. China planned to use the fraudulent driver’s licenses to account for tens of thousands of mail-in votes.
We don’t know how many such fake votes actually were recorded. What we do know is that – and I know I repeat myself – the expansion of mail-in voting gave them a golden opportunity for such a fraud scheme, as well as other schemes by other groups we might know nothing about. Mail-in voting is inherently insecure and very stringent safeguards must be in place to use it widely, and such safeguards were not in place in the US in 2020 (or now, for that matter).

But, but, but…Russia! Russia!
This is me. There is no question that extensive shenanigans occurred, both legal and illegal, but whether they were enough to put Biden over the top, nobody can ever know for sure. Even the Dems probably don’t.
Note that the election gaming was both legal and illegal. Much of what the Dems did in 2020 was entirely legal, by the letter of the law. In part because Dem controlled State governments had rewritten the law for that purpose, in part because much election law has always been sloppily written.
It’s a fair knock against Trump and his team that they didn’t see that coming and prepare for it back then. Trump was an amateur at politics back then, and it sometimes bit him hard.
It was a moot point, because there’s no practical mechanism to do anything about it afterward. The courts were mostly right when they ruled they lacked jurisdiction to hear the complaints, if any body would have appeal authority over a Presidential election, it would be Congress. There are those who believe the whole J6 incident was partly engineered to prevent any public accounting over the election results, and they might (I don’t say they definitely are) be right about that.
I’m all in favor of dragging this stuff out in the light now, though. My only caveat is that the Trumpians should make sure they’ve dotted every i and crossed every t in their evidence to make it harder for the establishment to spin it.
FC68. I agree. But there’s little to no chance that Trumpers will dot every I and cross every t. That’s just not how they operate. (Don’t you know “what time it is?”) There is even less chance that anyone left of center will accept nearly any level of evidence that tends to vindicate Trump.
There may well have been a Chinese operation to have Chinese nationals cast illegal ballots based on China-generated fake IDs. If it did happen, it is more likely to be something that historians study in the coming centuries than it is to have any effect on contemporary US politics.
I’ll stick with what I’ve always thought. The main ways the 2020 election was rigged was through propaganda, censorship, changing of election law which was sometimes illegal, questionable legal rulings, and threats and actual use of political violence. (IE it was rigged in the same sense as a carnival game.) Or put another way “If you’re rigging an election through fraud you’re doing it the hard way.”
I wonder (not really) which candidate the Chicoms would’ve (or may have as these were only the ones that were actually intercepted) cast these fradulent votes for. Now, I know someone will claim the Chicoms goal may have just been sewing general instability and undermining the public trust in an US Presidential Election, so it doesn’t matter. But I say nonsense to that. We know that one candidate definitely recieved large sums of money from Chinese sources with the help of a certain venal princeling of a son during the years leading up to this election. We also know that this same candidate was of questionable competency.
You can buy counterfeit drivers license (and drugs) in shopping center parking lots in eastside San Jose Ca. No doubt the same in most major cities.
Don’t know how many illegal aliens would use these to vote but can imagine leftists registering for mail-in using fake license and fake addresses.

Concerning California driver’s licenses: CA has allowed illegals to get DLs for many years. About a year and a half ago I had to renew my DL and I was provided with more information about registering to vote than I was about anything having to do with driving a car. Connect the dots.
We were living in Nevada at the time of the 2020 election. That was a time when state officials were making laws that should have been made by legislatures, but the excuse was Covid. Lots of those laws were nutty: you couldn’t go to church because crowds were dangerous for infection, but you could demonstrate in the thousands because that was different.
Anyway, our governor decreed that ballots would be mailed to every potential voter, and when they came in — some late and others unsigned — he decreed that they should be counted. Clark Co. (Las Vegas) is heavily Democrat and the return rate of mailed ballots was very high. Voter ID is not required, and busloads of hospitality workers arrived at polling stations with duplicate addresses, but they were allowed to vote.
This is what we saw in one blue state, and I believe it was duplicated elsewhere. Additionally, there were reports of more than 100% voter turnout in some blue voter precincts, notably in precincts that usually had low voter turnout.
Does this amount to fraud? Not in a way that highly partisan commenters would ever admit, and not even in a way that neutral observers would accept unequivocally. But it strains credulity to accept Biden’s popular vote total of 81 million when Hillary only got 63 million four years earlier. She was almost certainly a more popular vote-getter than the Biden who stayed in his basement most of the campaign.
There are also other indicators from the 2020 election: Biden did not win any of the bellwether states, for example, and although such indicators are not definitive they certainly give space for credible doubt.
So when I’m asked if there was fraud in 2020 I usually say Biden received more votes, but I doubt the veracity of those votes.

the evidence that there was fraud, is seen in how anyone who challenged it, be it NewsCorp, Newsmax most recently with Mike Lindell, has been proscribed driven to bankruptcy by Smartmatic and Dominion, when it happened, of course for 20 years before, ‘election denialism’ was an industry among so many parties of the political and media establishment as to be almost superfluous, I’m not going to repeat the litany, so now it’s all totes legit, sure, I’d like to buy that bridge, of course no actual evidence, can be admitted in court,when evidence is presented the experts like Helderman, notably, who was the subject of two documentaries in the spring and fall of 2020, make contrary claims,

My opinion is all this fraud registration is to get the potential votes ratcheted up, it’s not they actually need to vote. Fraud votes will cover that, and possibly computer hacking.
For instance, 150 million potential voters know that 30 million quite possibly won’t actually vote those will be covered by fraud.

If you read their analysis and investigations, it is all laid out. There was way more election fraud than voter fraud. I have been a Chief Election Judge in Montana for almost 20 years so I know about election fraud and voter fraud.
The problems are so deep, they are not going to end without arrests, trials etc. by US and State Law Enforcement. Do you trust Patel, Bongino and the AG Barbie Doll? I don’t. 15,000 FBI agents and how do they spend their days? What are they tasked with?
The real problem is that the GOP as a party doesn’t give a $hit. That is so evident…. and then there is Tina Peters and her imprisonment that tells you everything you need to know about Republicans.

The US media
The US Federal institutions
The US military
The US weather service
The US state authorities
The US traditional allies
The US Universities
The US banking system
And probably other aspects of the USA such as Hollywood, Dollywood and Apple computers.
All for different reasons depending on the political flag waved by that individual.

My guess is foreign powers don’t care what you vote or who you elect as long as you all hate each other and your countries previously astonishingly successful institutions.

we had 20 years of ‘selected not elected’ and sequels in 2004 and 2016, after they stopped blaming the chads, then they went to Diebold, and E&SS (this last was the company that Chuck Hagel formed,) then when Obama won in 2008 and 2012, well they ignored that detail, of course the fact the Secretary of State project had gamed the system in states like Ohio, (they had tried that scheme with the Grauniad, Hamilton County if memory serves) the notions about election machine tom foolery made it into that silly film with Robin Williams, and the soapy series, Scandal,
then after Romney’s pitiful effort, they decided on this silly Russian hoax gambit, which indulged any number of category errors but for weak minded souls, this notion sufficed,
But that would only really matter if the ROW was in fact sane…or at least honest, or relatively so.

It’s called Bathos or even comic relief. Used a lot in English drama and debate. Add something slightly odd to a serious list. Often used to make debate less confrontational- “agreeing disagreeably” is the current phrase.
