Just between us girls — 29 Comments

  1. In fairness, given how much somebody probably paid for them, I’m not surprised she wants them out there for all the world to see.

  2. My childhood home was not far from a “seedy” part of Chicago and there was one particular street in an industrial area where such women congregated. I guess it was a good spot to find clients during shift changes at the factories. I often rode my bike by them when going to and from work and I’d generally shout some sincere pleasantries, “Have a nice day, Ladies!” etc… which they seemed to appreciate.

One time a friend and I were walking right in the heart of Chicago’s nightlife, Rush Street, and a car screeched to a stop and two such women leapt out and started shouting a hard, sales pitch, even grabbing us and trying to force us into the car, where I could see a man in back, obviously their pimp. I didn’t want to injure the woman who had latched onto me, but I had to be rather forceful to disengage myself from her grip. It really haunted me. I knew they had to be rather desperate to be so brazen, especially in such a crowded area, and their pimp was forcing them to do this. They also were almost certainly on drugs based on their eyes and the quickness of their speech.

I get the Libertarian attitude about “consenting adults,” and I don’t like laws that attempt to restrict what adults consent to, but I can’t help but feel sorry for women in “sex work.” In a proper, mature, thriving society few women, if any, would choose to make money by selling their bodies. The number of American women on Only Fans is an indicator that there is much wrong with our society.

  3. Lauren Sanchez is a Floozy – it’s insult to the term “streetwalkers” to call her a streetwalker or Street prostitute…

  4. I see pictures of this woman frequently as I look at the Daily Mail. I must suppose that Bezos enjoys having a girlfriend who looks like a prostitute. Taking this kind of display to the inauguration was grossly out of place.

  5. Kate has the right of it. If Bezos disapproved, she’d never have walked out the door in that outfit. In fact, he may have insisted that she wear it. If so, it reveals how he views her. But whether merely accepting or insisting, it was a disrespectful non-verbal comment on how Bezos views Trump’s Presidency. Yet Trump has the last laugh because Bezos felt like he had to attend, while Trump could care less whether Bezos showed up or not.

  6. There comes a point with cosmetic surgery and its so-called ‘enhancements’ where you’ve gone too far, and now start to become a caricature of a desirable woman, instead of a desirable woman. She’s past that point, and now age will become her defining characteristic.
I guess the practical reality is that these procedures are irreversible, which naturally leads to a kind of desperation. One can only wonder at the nature of their courtship, their relationship. ‘Transactional’ comes to mind. Each to their own, but – a man in Bezos’ position?

  7. @Rufus:The number of American women on Only Fans is an indicator that there is much wrong with our society.

And only a small percentage of them make money. For some it’s easier than a regular job, but for most it’s a poorly paid grind.

  8. Joan Rivers used to play “Starlet or Streetwalker,” looking at photographs and trying to decide. I wondered if real life streetwakers had the distinctive look or style that prostitutes had in popular culture, but I guess the ambiguity was the fun of the game.

Sanchez could have gotten away with her outfit if she were a college woman going to a Halloween party as a “sexy nurse,” but her attire wasn’t appropriate for a presidential inauguration.

  9. Well of course there are real streetwalkers around, and in the nearest big city to me, they are dressed light-years trashier than Lauren Sanchez. Lauren Sanchez is in fact dressed more conservatively than a “bikini barista”, which for those not from the Pacific Northwest is a euphemism for “coffee stripper” (they once did wear bikinis but that was 20 years ago).

Those with a mission for dispassionate research are invited to search for “Aurora Avenue” on YouTube; I will not link.

Guns N Roses seemed to have made it their mission to be Spinal Tap in real life, and Lauren Sanchez seems to be wanting to be the real-life Sue Ellen Mischke from Seinfeld.

  10. It’s a free country. (Mostly.) I have no problem with Bezos letting his mistress being sluttily dressed at the inauguration. There are all kinds of people – the very proper to those with low standards. I doubt Trump would be critical of her and Bezos.

Maybe I’m too old to get excited over such a thing – although Zuckerberg’s roving eyes are good for a chuckle, that’s all it is as far as I’m concerned.

I like Megyn Kelly, but think she’s being a bit over the top here. 🙂

  11. Of course the real issue here is the one Oscar Wilde alluded to:

There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

All the noise about how Lauren Sanchez dressed at the inauguration has suited her PR team perfectly. The most suitable punishment for her would be for everyone to pretend it didn’t happen, but that’s not the world we live in. I regret having, in my small way, furthered her little scheme.

  12. Ok, which was worse? This woman with her bra showing (I didn’t know who she was at the time) or Fetterman in gym shorts and hoodie?

  13. Nice title for the post!

I wouldn’t necessarily assume that Bezos can order Sanchez to do what he wishes, in spite of his wealth. I won’t claim it’s the most likely, but it’s certainly possible that this issue is all Sanchez.

  14. I said it on an earlier thread, but I find Bezos’ first wife, MacKenzie Scott much more attractive than his second. I’m impressed his second is a helicopter pilot, no easy feat, but her outward appearance is not my cup of tea. However, the same goes for Jeff, himself. The nerdy guy who founded Amazon seems like someone I might enjoy listening to, over lunch. This bulk’ed up, phallic rocket, superyacht guy doesn’t seem like someone I’d like to hang out with. (Although I’m sure Jeff Bezos has no interest in hanging out with me, either.)

  15. Abraxas,

If you pay a little attention when in a high end bar, especially one in a 4 star hotel in a big city, you will see call girls dressed very smartly.

  16. @Rufus:If you pay a little attention when in a high end bar, especially one in a 4 star hotel in a big city,

You’ll see more if you sit in the lobby for a time with a view of the elevators. They have to dress well enough to pass at first glance or the hotel won’t tolerate them, but when you see the same woman go in and out of the elevators with different men each time in the course of a few hours it is obvious what is going on–even if they don’t approach you–and the hotel, despite its high-end brand name, is clearly okay with it. I admit I was naive, and surprised.

Since then I’ve tried to stay in small boutique hotels in big cities where possible, instead of the big hotels, just so my skin doesn’t crawl as much.

  17. Does it make me a bad person that I actually kinda like what my feminist classmates used to call, “horizontal violence?” The woman vs woman thing that Megyn & whoever she’s carping with about the whoever’s boobs are popping out there…restrained by the very nice corset. (Can you tell I don’t care enough to know who’s who in the whole kerfuffle?) When so-called strong empowered women go after other so-called strong empowered women…I think it’s funny in a Fail Army sort of way. Maybe I’m a baddie…?

BUT…yes…Bezos’ main squeeze has that “too much” medical assistance look about her…face & “the girls.” (I think that’s what Megan called ’em) If Bezos wanted a different “look,” you can be assured he’d get it.

When I was working on a rig (drilling for oil) in the Guatemalan jungle. I twice used the services of a prostitute. The first one was passive and reluctant. The second one was neither passive nor reluctant, but both of her wrists had scars from her cutting them. I concluded that prostitution was a degrading, sad line of work.

I did get a good story from the visits, though. A customer had left a car w keys. The madame wanted me to drive her to town for purchases, as she didn’t know how to get the car in reverse to get out of the lot. (It was a standard transmission.)

In town the madame introduced me to relatives of President-General Lucas. (President Lucas jokes were very common back then.) A madame introducing you to relatives of the President…only in Guatemala? 🙂

    Indeed. Thanks for the reminder.
