A personal note on this election
I’m still pinching myself about the election results. But it doesn’t seem like this will feature a repeat of the post-election reversals of 2020; the win was apparently too big for that. And yet still too close for comfort, given the abysmal candidacy of Kamala Harris.
I hope that Harris leaves the stage of national politics after she leaves the VP office. She doesn’t have much aptitude for it and I doubt the Democrats will be nominating her again.
Last night I didn’t look at any election results till after 9 PM. Too nervous. Once I started looking, it was clear that the signs were encouraging. So although it took me hours and hours to relax, I started feeling somewhat better by about 11 PM. I certainly hadn’t expected it to happen that soon.
There’s so much to think about. Strangely enough, I believe that an opinion column in non other than the NY Times summed up the general truth – at least, the following part:
“Populist Revolt Against Elite’s Vision of the US”
The assumption that Mr. Trump represented an anomaly who would at last be consigned to the ash heap of history was washed away on Tuesday night by a red current that swept through battleground states — and swept away the understanding of America long nurtured by its ruling elite of both parties.
No longer can the political establishment write off Mr. Trump as a temporary break from the long march of progress, a fluke who somehow sneaked into the White House in a quirky, one-off Electoral College win eight years ago. With his comeback victory to reclaim the presidency, Mr. Trump has now established himself as a transformational force reshaping the United States in his own image.
Because it’s the Times, of course, the article goes on to say that resistance to a female president was a factor. Should I add “goes on to say without evidence“? Because it was this candidate, not her being a female, that did her in, and this platform devoid of solutions or appeal to most people.
The rest of the article demonstrates the same stupidity – Trump violated standards (as though the left didn’t do that to a far greater extent in its attempt to destroy him), and is a “convicted criminal” (as though he isn’t the victim of kangaroo court persecution at the hands of the left and really is a criminal). There’s more outright lying in the piece, the repeat of Democrat talking points like the “dictator on day one” distortion and the like.
But I’m not going to dwell on the right now. Right now I want to enjoy the day. Hope you do, too.
I turned my phone off at 4 PM Pacific time and had no idea what happened until 7 am this morning.
Perhaps, just as the left’s cries to abandon the filibuster will now disappear, perhaps will we see the National Popular Vote Compact be undone.
I did some interesting math last week. With Trump having received the majority of the popular vote, the 18 states in the compact would now be forced to assign their electoral votes to Trump. The result would be something like 514 electoral votes for Trurmp and 24 for Harris.
Just imagine California, Massachusetts, Washington, DC, and Oregon kicking and screaming for each vote they relinquish to Trump.
Trump has been elected president.
So now, I hope: gasoline powered cars, + g.p. trucks…for shipping, will be supported, and I hope- Federal government polices will be made that: 1] support the harvesting of fossil fuels, + 2] reduce the costs of everyday items, like food.
In my view- too many people in my area, saw their food bills go up, 50-68% in 4 years, + they had to decide- do I fund my home, or do I fund my family’s food? Too many of my neighbors had to leave their homes, + my town, just so they could afford housing + food.
I hope things will improve for most, USA people’s 1] industries + jobs [and] 2] their cost of living. [Is it better grammar to say, “costs of living?” I don’t know.]
I’m wishing everyone a good day.
I’ll talk to this site’s people, later on.
My anxiety started growing on Friday with attendant sleep loss. Wife pretty much glued to the tv until maybe 1am. Some sleep. Back up at 3 dreading any signs of the 2020 steal. Finally, relief. Extreme relief. And sleep.
Looks like Jack Smith is throwing in the Towel. Now, what will happen in NY and GA? They too should go away, but may not. See that James is vowing to fight a “vindicative” Trump. Hey, he has the power of the same pens used by BO and Biden.
They may say they’re throwing in the towel.
They may act as though they’re throwing in the towel.
But they will NEVER throw in the towel.

In other “news”, the media—in this case NBC—gets it exactly wrong:
“NBC is now blaming Biden for Kamala losing because he dropped out too late.”
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/media-beside-themselves-over-trump-victory-zelenskyy-talks-peace-ukraine
Actually, Biden dropped out too early. Way too early.
If he had dropped out later—much later—Harris would NOT have had that extended period to demonstrate what kind of person, and candidate, she was…
(ACTUALLY, Biden didn’t drop out but was FORCED out…but hey, why quibble with the lying media over its accuracy…?)

Curious mind would like to know if Harris will claim that by losing the election, she’s the one responsible for the Houthi’s change of heart….
I went to bed when it was looking good — but I remembered last time.
My heart was racing when I woke up. Exercise zone. But I got up, and checked, and all was well. (I was still hyper, mind you, but happy.)
The swill will flow; and there are creatures who thrive on swill.
I take exception with several points in the NYT piece, but will speak to only one.
I do not believe that Trump made the Republican Party over in his own image. That suggests a cult of personality’ so it is easy to shrug it as a one-off. As he said himself, he ran a commons sense campaign directed at the mass of the current Republican party that seldom has a strong voice.. The Left cannot acknowledge the common sense description, because it would be an admission that by contrast they ran a nonsensical campaign.
Trump’s Republicans have been there for a long time, waiting for someone to speak for them. Megyn Kelly illustrated it well. She said that he struck common sense chord with girls, and their parents, who felt helpless before the Transgender cult. That he repudiated the charge that masculinity was by definition toxic, and identified the worth of men with callouses on their hands.
I believe that one of his better, lasting accomplishments was just proving that the Leftist Democrat/Media Cabal can be beaten with bedrock issues. Hopefully, he encouraged potentially strong leaders at every level to step forward and conduct their on common sense campaigns.
I hope Vance plays and active and consequential role in Trump’s administration. I hope he given important jobs to do. He’s too smart and too talented to be kept sitting on the sidelines like so many VPs. I could seem as the next president after Trump.
Irish
I hope he stays really current and ready to go. IYKWIM.
I do indeed KWYM!
This may represent the Let’s zenith. They and what they supposedly fight for seems old and stale.
Obviously we know all the Marxists talking points are total BS, and they will be forgotten because Leftism means never having to say your sorry.
As in the last two elections was sure Trump would win so was prepared for it.
Really hope the Jan6 Ralliers are all free and clear day 1.

Some Democrat party-leaning reporters, + some Dem.s in the Fed. Govt., are trying to use the [excuse] of:
“Harris wasn’t elected president in 2024, because [most?] Americans didn’t want [an African-American woman] as their president.”
What baloney.
Ms. Condoleezza Rice was the Secretary of State in 2005, + I didn’t hear any complaints about an African-American woman +/or a woman, being in that job, in the Federal Government.
Ms. Kamala Harris was the Vice President for four years, and I didn’t hear anyone in the Fed. govt. say about her:
“I won’t work with her, because she’s African-American”,
or,
“I won’t work with her, because she’s a woman”,
or,
“I won’t work with her because of- some reasons that I won’t tell you about.”
In my view: Trump was a better candidate for president than Harris was, and that is why Trump won in that election.
It was a close call, but ended up not a close call.
Take a deep breath.
Pray ’em, if you’ve got ’em.
We’ve still got work to do.

That NYT quote is a perfect example of the lying, misrepresenting, selectively truthful, hateful, innuendo-ridden Fish-Wrap of Record at its devious, dishonest, incitement-filled “best”.
It’s a sickness, a deep-seated psychosis masquerading as intellectual and emotional concern and caring for the nation and its citizens.
Except that what it really is is insane, toxic, violence- and hate-promoting bullshit. And it’s self-fulfilling and self-generating: a perpetual-motion ALWAYS MACHINE of pure, unadulterated hatred for anyone and any group whom it suits you to target as “hateful”, whom you can freeze as the object of your virtuous insanity.
And it will continue since its purveyors, possessing absolutely ZERO self knowledge, MUST blame the demons infesting their meticulously constructed demonology as a way of refusing to take responsibility for their fate, a way of ALWAYS blaming their oh-so-useful DEVIL.
These people are nuts. And they MUST call their insanity “VIRTUE”.

Just my own thoughts on this election:
They stole an election from him – Trump continued. They tried him in a politically motivated kangaroo court – Trump continued. They threw garbage at his family, including his teenage son, Barron – Trump continued. They tried to kill him – Trump, with a fist pump in air, continued.
He has taken so much, even an attempt on his life, for those of us who voted for him, for OUR United States and the betterment of the world.
I was a very reluctant Trump voter for his first term. But, experiencing the results of his first term I am so glad that I did vote for him (I call my house “My Trump house” as I couldn’t afford to buy until his policies made home ownership a reality for me).
This time I felt very privileged to vote for him; and glad that I had him as a choice.
May Trump and his family be blessed and watched over to be kept safe.
I didn’t connect to the news yesterday until 9:00pm, too. That is because I was working the election as alternate judge. No electronics in the polling place. Blackout from 6:00 am to 8:30 pm (when we finally shut down the polls and took the ballot box to the vote center.). It was peaceful. Highly recommended. Especially for those nervous about election results. You literally cannot get information until it is over and done with.
Try it. Seriously.
Not only is this the blessed end of the wretched Obama era, history will come to see Donald Trump as a greater and far more consequential president than the Lightbringer and his deranged totalitarian cult of personality.
Here is a nice clip to celebrate by:
https://x.com/KTHopkins/status/1854090142274740657
The ruling (N.B., I deliberately refrained from typing, “governing”) elite regarded Trump the same way they regarded Rush Limbaugh, he of sainted memory. They believed that he represented a lunatic fringe, whereas he spoke for a very large, perhaps majority portion of all Americans. They derided him as a “clown” whereas he, like Reagan (whom they regarded similarly) was a very deep thinker with an intuitive grasp of the American psyche and abiding affection for the nation as conceived and founded. They poked vicious fun at his physical appearance. And most notably, they accused him of “leading” people to form their opinions, whereas he, as he always said, was actually the voice for many otherwise voiceless Americans. So, Trump did not remake the repubican party in his image; he was the avatar of the vast number, about 76,000,000 or so of Americans who decided to use him as their way of defending against the war of annihilation that had been waged against them for two decades by the leftist/globalist/communist cabal that deluded itself ito thinking they were the ones in charge. His rise on the national scene was, in a non-violent way the manifestation of Kipling’s poem, “The Beginnings,” or perhaps “Gods of the Copybook Headings.” ( I never knew how prescient Kipling was until I read his poems more carefully.) When Trump leaves the political scene, he will have left behind a myriad of others willing and able to continue to engage the enemy and successfully defeat them. J.D. Vance for President, anyone?
2024 US Election Maps – by county
We have three very interesting US election maps posted on CC:
https://www.commoncts.blogspot.com
Re: Smith – I’ve seen a lot of analysis suggesting that it is in Democrats’ interest to make those cases go away before Trump takes office, which it appears that they are doing.
Really, though? They can make a big show about how they are acting in the national interest, but wouldn’t dismissing everything now really just show that the whole thing was a big farce all along?
If a man who truly deserved to be a felon, is a fascist, and would threaten the very foundations of “Our Democracy” (TM) is about to take office, and you respond to his assent to power by pulling the Emily Litella routine . . .
That gives away the game.
But on Democrats’ next move, the alternative is to fight a long twilight battle against the guy who just won the popular vote, knowing that you’re doomed to lose because the cases really are frivolous. It may be that admitting the whole thing was a farce all along is just the least bad option from the position that they have maneuvered themselves into.
Seawriter, I did the same — worked at the polls as a judge from 6 a.m. until we were able to leave with everything finished at 8:20 p.m. By the time my husband picked me up, he was able to tell me that Trump had won Miami-Dade, which was a good omen. But, like Neo, I didn’t stay up, or even look at my phone, until Wednesday morning, fearing a repeat of 2020.
See an interesting take on how the incoming Trump Administration should deal with those in the Biden Administration who, arguably, have committed various crimes .

We are anti woman, say the LeftProgs.
Oh?
Did they support Sarah Palin? Were they fans of Margaret Thatcher?
Black Americans being lectured by BHO. For me, that will always stick in my mind — much like Ceausescu at the end.
@Bauxite:you respond to his assent to power by pulling the Emily Litella routine . . .
That gives away the game.
Not to people who don’t remember what happened two weeks ago. They are going to shift 180 degrees on this topic, on packing the Supreme Court, on abolishing the filibuster, etc without missing a beat, and no one will notice.
An old maxim which the Dems forgot :
You can’t beat somebody with nobody.
Our hostess said
I doubt the Democrats will be nominating her again.
Damn shame that. For 2028 the Democrats will have an actual national primary and we know how Ms. Harris does in those. Still the Democrats are pretty fricking insane and perhaps in some alternate universe we’d have Vance vs Harris 2028. Wouldn’t that be entertaining and glorious 🙂
The first word of The Republic is “kateben” as Socrates narrates his story, and it’s generally translated as “I went down” [descending to Piraeus from Athens].
(It’s good to pay close attention to the first word of all the Dialogues.)
Socrates’ return trip in progress as he begins his story — ascending back to town — is interrupted by a gang of friends, whereupon he is forced to cease his ascent and instead assent to commence to descend again.
No more going up for a time.
Just watched a guy on Morning Joe ask what he thinks is a damaging question, damaging to Republicans. He smugly asked “How come Kamala got 14 million fewer votes than Joe Biden got last time?!”
He’s gonna regret asking that, unless they successfully “disappear” it.
You see, EVERY presidential candidate in this century got millions of votes less than Biden. Every one: Dem or Republican, winner or loser.
So the question is not why Kamala did… it’s why they ALL did!!
Snow, interesting piece, thanks. However, it’s not arguable that some Bidenites and fellow travelers have committed crimes. And justice demands that they pay for those crimes, via imprisonment or execution. Fining, firing and disbarring them don’t fit their crimes.
Neo, it would be interesting to hear from some of the naysayers who stated so strongly that Trump (or any Republican) would not be allowed to win.
@ Snow > “Justice without Revenge”
Roger Simon’s merciful counsel for punishing the myriad malefactors of the Swamp/Deep State/Treasonous Junta should certainly be considered, although I think jail-time for the actual and very serious crimes committed is Justice, not Revenge.
However, he is correct that putting the clearly senile Biden in the dock is probably a political no-go. All the rest of them should lie in the beds they made, even if they are in the Grey Bar Hotel — and preferably not Club Fed, but the same kind they put Steve Bannon in for a crime NO Democrat has ever been prosecuted for.
Examining in detail the 2020 election, which was NOT done despite the posturing of the Left and some sincerity on the Right, really must happen, and steps taken to eliminate the worst abuses.
A lot of the “debunking” that defends that notoriously “free and fair” election hinges on technicalities and definitions.
So maybe the election wasn’t “stolen” in the same way a burglar breaks in your door and makes off with your money and computers. (I posit that without believing it; some of the numerical anomalies have NOT been cleared up satisfactorily, but YMMV.)
The kind of stealing the Democrats did in 2020 is more like the way they redefined shop-lifting as a non-punishable peccadillo: but, we all know it’s stealing.
It’s like the squatters’ and renters’ rights statues that make if possible for people to take over someone else’s property without legal recourse by the true owner.
We all know that’s stealing.
It’s like printing someone else’s words as your own, without acknowledging them.
Noting tangible changed hands, but we all know that’s stealing.
The Democrats called their actions “fortifying” the election, and some were legal, and some had a patina of legality, but we all know it was stealing.
The chart Roger included is mind-boggling. (The left axis is millions of votes).
I knew the numbers, intellectually, but seeing them in comparison really hits hard.
Roughly: (without looking up the exact numbers)
2012 D 66 R 61
2016 D 66+ R 63+
2020 D 81 R 74
2024 D 67 R 72
As Roger said, “How do we reconcile that Donald Trump received more votes in 2020 than he did in 2024 when he won the popular vote, yet he lost in 2020 to a Joe Biden that somehow got tens of millions more votes back then than Kamala Harris did now? [AF:or Obama in 2012 & Hillary in 2016] Where did those votes come from? The population doesn’t exist. You don’t have to be in Denmark to know that something is rotten.”
