Trump and Rogan, sitting and schmoozing — 31 Comments

  1. Great, was wondering about that interview. Drudge has had “Trump is on Adderall: A “Man Baby”” from Jul 19, 2022 up top all day, along w/ “Joe Rogan says he will NEVER host Donald Trump on his podcast despite being asked multiple times because he is an ‘existential threat to democracy itself’” from 5 July 2022 – plus a couple other nasty remarks I didn’t check.

Have never watched a Rogan show even though I am a “youngish” 78. Had figured that Trump would probably fit right in w/ the format tho—even tho they both may have been at odds in the past. Rogan wanted the viewers & Trump wanted the exposure to more voters.

Harris isn’t planning a Rogan interview.

🙂 🙂 Too funny! And she didn’t even do well w/ Beyoncé endorsing her at their Texas rally…Ditto on Too funny!

  2. I watched snippets of the interview.

It was good. Trump told some good anecdotes. I especially liked his description of landing in Baghdad in Air Force One. The way he told the story was both humorous and gripping. I’ve made landings in black our conditions like that, and his story triggered memories of those days.

I don’t understand why Rogan is so popular. He’s got certain biases and seems to me not as well informed as other podcasters I’ve watched. (Bongino, Whittle, Megyn Kelly to mention three.)

The enormous exposure can’t hurt. You couldn’t watch it and say Trump is a want to be dictator. In fact, the reaction most men would have is that they’d like to sit down with him and shoot the sh*t.

  3. Re: Joe Rogan podcast

It’s not the biggest deal, but it is a big deal.

neo’s summary was spot-on. Much of it wasn’t what was said so much as the implicit comparison with Harris.

Everyone one knows there’s no way Harris would survive three hours with Joe Rogan, even if he were super-gentle.

  4. Well, apparently Kamala is dragging a ‘reluctant’ Michelle Obama in front of some cameras, perhaps hoping to achieve salvation from inside the ruling cabal somehow. A desperate last chance?

  5. Rogan has a way. Though if you wind him up on JFK assassination or moon landings, you will definitely hear what he thinks.

He strikes me as the comedian version of sci-fi author Larry Corriea. Knows how to do the job but also knows the business. As Larry points out, an author doesn’t make money from the latest bestseller. He makes it when a reader likes the bestseller and goes back and buys the author’s back catalog.

A lot of new fans will hear Rogan’s chill style and start listening to his daily show. Cha-ching!

  6. Speaking of podcasts, Tucker Carlson’s is good. He’s adding one more tour date in my neighborhood. Special guest: Donald Trump. I cannot go.

  7. Harris is a totally revolting, disgusting human being. She began as a whore with Willie Brown. She remains a whore. Her knees are callused.
If enough ignorant, stupid Americanos vote her in, this country is dead, murdered by her and the Dems. Y’all kiss your sweet a*s goodbye then.

  8. Young men were already leaning towards Trump. This will accelerate that trend.

Kamala was in talks to do a Rogan interview. The report is that Rogan wanted unlimited topics and Kamala wouldn’t do that.

  9. Trump continues to demonstrate that he is fearless. or close enough to it for government work.
I don’t know whether to believe the pontificators who keep yapping about the election being neck and neck, or not. I suspect much of it is click bait, as Trump seems to be scoring with more and more demographics.
I cannot believe that the charges of ‘Hitler like’ resonate with anyone who has sufficient faculties to complete a ballot. Without help from a friendly ballot harvester that is.
So, I believe the danger is from two sources. First is the unfettered abortion crowd. We know that it is a large crowd, and that the issue will drive them above any other consideration; we just don’t know how large it is. Women who support the ‘right to choose (to kill babies at any time, on any whim)’ are very vocal; but we don’t know how many quiet women share their madness.
The second source of danger is the traditional Democrat base; i.e. those who buy the fiction that government will take care of them; and big government will take care of them bigger. Hence the importance of the migrant vote to Democrats.

  10. Listened to all of it this morning, think it was a home run for DJT. Wish a bit more prepared with a few facts on 2020 vote fraud but all in all showed he is a human, not anywhere near wearing out. Besides sitting 3 uninterrupted hours did a speech in Austin earlier and after flew to Michigan for a rally with 10,000 people.
Harris would not survive pulling lies and propaganda on Rogan, shame really she isn’t allowed anywhere near a real interview.

  11. @Oldflyer: I think you’re missing a third source: the people who depend on big government for their business revenue. The government writes a lot of checks to a lot of organizations, sometimes grants, sometimes purchases of goods and services, both at home and abroad. I think a lot of these people were behind the animus toward Trump, so far in excess of anything leveled at Bush. Their livelihoods are directly threatened by someone like Trump who doesn’t understand why so many of these people are getting checks.

  12. “didn’t see a moment of the Hitler they’ve been told he’s channeling”

C’mon, what could be more like Hitler than wisecracking while serving customers at a McDonald’s?

Perhaps this NRO essay by Yuval Levin will mollify some of your concern?

Oldflyer, yes the Republicans as a party and too many of the R political candidates are doing a terrible job of explaining Dobb as a liberty enhancing SCOTUS ruling, going back to the states for localized resolution of abortion law; plus failing to discuss the nature of the 2nd person in the woman’s womb as a real or potential human being, etc., to counter the “my body my choice” argument. Legislation that pays a girl/women for continuing a pregnancy to term (followed by adoption?) when it results from rape or incest might help, too (although there are clearly risks of fraud, etc., involved in that sitution or claim).

Niketas Choniates on October 26, 2024 at 5:39 pm: another good point, as so many DEI, CRT, BLM NGO’s and other political grifters are at the federal teat, along with the normal “business interests” lobbying and influencing legislation and budgets to their benefit. A sensible fical budget would put many of those people out of business, but would also dry up a lot of sources for campaing contributions. The statesmen and virtuous citizens required for sovereign self governance seem to be in too short a supply.

  14. I propose a simple litmus test to decide which candidate will get your vote. With whom would you rather spend three hours, Trump or Harris? (And engaging in some sexual activity is not among the menu items.) I know whom I would choose under these rules of engagement, but I fear that most women (especially those of the “womyn” variety) would pick Harris. This is based on my personal experience as well as polling results. Shows were we stand and a civilization. And why the 19th Amendment may have been a Constitutional misstep.

  15. Steve (retired/recovering lawyer)

With whom would you rather spend three hours, Trump or Harris?

“sexual activity” allowed or not — I couldn’t stand three hours with either of them. Not counting this blog (which doesn’t require face to face interaction), I don’t spend three hours .. three hours .. not counting Doctor visits & once a week cashier face to face, I probably don’t spend three hours a year face to face with any human/s. It’s great not dealing with other humans…voting yesterday Friday was fine, the ladies were great, but I felt no desire to chat with anyone.

Probably spent 3-4 hours in one visit last year with a brother who had lost his wonderful wife. We chatted quite a bit, but I was also there to help him get his new laptop set up, and give him a USB docking station, and some USBs & a SSD—plus links to buy a good Bluetooth mouse and a USB 3.0 to 2.5″ SATA III Drive Adapter Cable that is UASP—very fast, and it only works w/SSDs.

And why the 19th Amendment may have been a Constitutional misstep.

🙂 Have to admit—at times like this, around election/s time, I do understand why some Muslim countries put ‘Their’ women into those full-body blue Burka body bags. Then I remember watching the Osama, and how I get chills even now whilst thinking about it.

  16. Finally looked into something I wandered about for a long time being a watcher of YouTube and Spotify, that is what term a View is. They term any 30 second viewing as a hit. I watched on Spotify but think from description they are tied together, well maybe. But I watched in 2 segments, not that I couldn’t in one, so that counts for 2, I watch 2 YouTube videos I between. But even someone watching just 30 seconds of a 3 hour show is a hit.
I use to, if I liked the video would let it play out just to be sure it was counted.

  17. J.J. writes, “I don’t understand why Rogan is so popular.”

I’ve heard Rogan address this several times. He gives a lot of credit to being early to the scene and not having an agenda or goal. I think a friend suggested it, and he just started recording conversations with friends in his kitchen (I think). In my mind, it was a big help he was an early adopter, so there wasn’t a lot of competition, and he was a successful stand-up comedian and a noted personality in the Mixed Martial Arts world.

His circle of friends were people other people wanted to listen to, especially males; comedians and fighters. He is also very curious and is personally interested in/enjoys conspiracies. So once his audience numbers were decent almost anyone he invited would come on for the exposure; scientists, conspiracy believers/authors, professional athletes, doctors, nutritionists, hunters and outdoorsmen and women (Rogan is a bow hunter).

He had a lot of cards in his hand that gave him an early mover advantage, but to his credit, he was also savvy enough to not let the success change him or the program, and he was smart enough to ignore the “expert” advice that tried to get him to change the format (“two, three hours is too long,” “you need more ads,” “you need to do this or that to get more women listeners, younger listeners, older listeners, overseas listeners, American listeners…). He also has a good memory and is knowledgeable enough to be conversant in a wide range of subjects.

He gives a lot of credit to his not caring about numbers or revenue. He had a decent stream of revenue from the television programs he had done, his stand-up career and announcing mixed martial arts bouts, so the podcast was strictly for his own, personal fun and interest. Turns out a lot of people are also interested in many of the things Joe Rogan is interested in. Like the saying attributed to Fox News founder, Roger Ailes, “he found a niche, underserved market… half the country.” Joe Rogan found a niche, underserved market; males who like to tell jokes, watch fights and talk about UFOs. Turns out there are more guys like that than guys who want to watch Don Lemon interview an expert in toxic masculinity.

  18. compare rogan with the state run media alternative, NPR a months worth of NPR will leave you more ignorant and angry, about things that don’t matter, and dismissive of the things that do, like the economy or inflation, some of the more iconoclastic things like certain scientific facts, certain other speculations,

  19. I come here generally for the excellence of Neo’s articles and for the good discussions and information often found on the comment threads. I am having to skim past the lack of argument, snark, and increasingly nasty personal comments between a couple of commenters.

  20. I try to be didactic, not accusatory, but there are just some ridiculous premises that need to be dismantled, more licensing of marijuana will not make society more
    stable,
I disagree with Trump on this score
this has been proven in many other instances, in states from the Pacific NorthWest to the North East, this form of reefer madness, which has been proffered sans evidence, along with this is the collapse of law and order that those critical legal wizards have wrought from New York to Seatttle, as far south as Memphis, is not conducive to a stable society, the loss of reliable electricity, affordable staples, all of these things are threatened by the Harris beast slouching toward your city and town, not to mention the cognitive lunacy of transgenderism, or dezinforma, or any of a dozen other elements,
the phantoms of project 2025 that keep getting propped up while real up and coming threats are ignored,
this contempt for Christianity, its only been the foundation of the West for 2,000 years if imperfectly carried out,

  21. @Rufus T. Firefly 2:12 pm

You write well, of course. Your summing up of the Joe Rogan Experience is one of your best.

  22. @miguel cervantes 4:15 pm

Wow. What a great stoned riff! Reefer madness to crit legal to power outages to Yeats to transgenderism to Project 2025 to Christianity in one great flowing stream of consciousness sentence.

Like … it’s all the same thing, man.

    Hat’s off.

Where do you stand on sativa vs indica strains of marijuana?

  23. Thanks for the info on Rogan, Rufus T.

I’m not one of those males. Well, it takes all kinds to make a market. And I’m better informed, thanks to you.

  24. J.J.,

Rogan has a wide range of interest and I’ll wager more than a few episodes overlap with one or more of yours.

You’ve mentioned your experience and talent for rock climbing. Here he is interviewing Colin O’Brady on climbing Mt. Everest, https://youtu.be/LdUav0AoDfM?si=XhD9q4_99HjhXvfe

  25. @ Niketas > “Their livelihoods are directly threatened by someone like Trump who doesn’t understand why so many of these people are getting checks.”

They really don’t like the idea of Musk cleaning house.
    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2024/10/27/elons-remarks-at-madison-square-garden-n2181159

Trump may have found the perfect job for him. We saw how he made X more efficient, by streamlining it, letting a lot of extraneous folks go, but then making it better and adding more features. Imagine applying that thought to the government that our tax dollars pay for. And he’s so excited to get started on it.

Trump Transition Co-Chair Howard Lutnick asked Musk how much spending he thought the Department of Government Efficiency could reduce in the wasteful budget. Musk answered that he thought they could cut $2 trillion. Imagine, people serious about the concept of eliminating taxes and reducing federal spending.

Pointing out that big spending causes inflation, Musk exclaimed, “Your money is being wasted and the Department of Government Efficiency is going to fix that!”

He continued, “We’re going to get the government off your back and out of your pocketbook…The future is gonna be amazing!”

I think he may be more at risk of assassination now than even Trump.
Hope some of his billions go to a good security team.

  26. AesopFan,

Vivek Ramaswamy is also very serious about budget cutting and making Washington more efficient and I think he’s done a lot more homework than Musk on the subject. Tulsi Gabbard would also be a strong resource in this area. Ron DeSantis would almost certainly work on this also, if asked.
