IIRC the democrats – and Kamala and Walz – are all for transgender women competing in female sports.
Of course, this will not have any effect whatsoever on female voters who will be casting their vote for the “Cackler” and her VP pick; the Medal of Honor winner and veteran of the US Civil War, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, two Iraqi Wars and Afghan War, Walz.
And yes !!, Waltz did win the Medal of Honer for each of these conflicts.

Regarding Harris’ work history at McDonalds, my theory is she did work there, but very briefly, and her departure is not something she can laud. When I heard her answer a question about it she gave the impression of someone covering something up. Something likely very minor; like she was 16 and simply stopped showing up after one or two shifts.

I worked at a Burger King for a while when I was in high school. If I had to prove it, I’d be hard-pressed, unless I could dig up a tax return from that period. I’ve been wondering why Harris couldn’t get the IRS to produce the necessary document, assuming she’s telling the truth and cares whether people believe her. It’s a little like Obama’s birth certificate: the weird aspect is the absence of evidence that should be easy to get to if there’s nothing stinky going on.
The general take-away is that Harris is completely in character casually claiming an Everyman kind of experience that no one watching her in action is likely to take seriously, even if the story is literally true. I too would guess that she showed up a few times then drifted off to some more cushy situation, unless the tale is frankly myth, which is equally plausible.
There was a very brief discussion here years ago about: Is gold a sensible investment?
Personally, I don’t pay attention to things terrible well unless it has some genuine importance to me, so in 10/10/22 I bought a very small piece of GLD. An ETF that tracks gold. I added a little more a few months later.
There was a modest initial runup, and then it stagnated for about a year. Which struck me as unusual because inflation was still hot then and inflation was on everyone’s mind. One guess that I had was that Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies had captured more of that market niche. Anyway, at the end of last February gold began to appreciate considerably. Now it is up 55%, which is not bad for a two year investment.

One would think gold would be directly tied to inflation. But it’s not. It just sort of trends that way. I’ve been dumbfounded by it also and my current guesses are: governments own a lot of gold and governments (like China and Russia) may do things behind the scenes to manipulate the price. More importantly, when the U.S. prints dollars out of thin air we tell ourselves a lie that it’s a loan. There are a lot of I.O.U.s in the Treasury and D.C. and there are a lot of different sets of books in play with our federal government; so this affects the true value of the U.S. dollar.
The price of gold in U.S. dollars should simply be a basic division problem based on the amount of gold and dollars in circulation (barring some additional beneficial use found for gold, like a conductor in microchips, etc…). But gold prices don’t directly follow dollars in circulation. My guess is it’s primarily due to all those I.O.U.s. Eventually investors get nervous about the U.S. government’s ability to pay itself back, along with other instabilities in the U.S.’ and other nations’ economies and the price trends up, but it’s not in direct correlation to our printing presses’ outputs.
One good reason to have a bit of physical gold, rather than just an ETF, is if the sh*t ever really, really hits the fan you’ll almost certainly be able to buy and barter with physical gold. I don’t even think you’d necessarily need a lot. If things get that bad inflation and gold prices would likely be so steep that a little gold would go a long way.

It’s not so much that she’d be able to produce a W2, it’s that nobody has spoken up to defend her story. I worked a lot of minimum wage jobs in my teens, including fast food. If I had worked anywhere with someone who had become as famous as Kamala Harris, I and our former co-workers would talk about it often. It wouldn’t matter whether I liked the celebrity, or his or her politics. It’s human nature. Most of us tell others about whatever brushes with fame we have in our lives.
Imagine if Brad Pitt worked a few shifts with you at that Burger King. When he started becoming famous you would recognize his face and name and you’d tell folks.
It’s really odd no one, except one, anonymous source, has come forward to corroborate her claim.

Saw an article this morning where women are leading men in early voting—suggesting that was a good sign for Harris, but it didn’t look like a big lead to me.
Got my “Sample Ballot” recently – unenthusiastically opened it yesterday, but didn’t look it all over. Dixie county’s early voting is Oct 24 – Nov 2, and this is the first year since 2002 that I haven’t been looking forward to voting. Seems more of a battle between Progressive Left & MAGA Right – with ‘Death’ of America if either side loses.
OK…just looked over the Sample Ballot, and saw “Adult Personal Use of Marijuana” on the fuking ballot at last.
Forgot what year I got arrested for marijuana in Suwannee county Florida—they didn’t find the growing plants, but the probation Officer had apparently been inside my fence and went inside my 12’ x 20’ actual living quarters (a hut w/ building permit) whilst I was away. Had to search it, because he showed up with a cop, asked if he could come in – and just walked on in. Sat down on bed, looked over at a dirty clothes hamper—opened it, pushed some dirty clothes outta the way and picked up an ashtray with part of a joint in it. Then did a full search and found 4-6 ounces. Rule of Law allows such, if the Law Enforcers lie…
