Biden’s betrayal: “But for Michigan?”
Biden’s betrayal of Israel has so many dimensions, so many heinous ill effects, that’s it’s hard to contemplate them without falling into fury. One of the many aspects of it is his own naked ambition and lack of principle, which has always been his hallmark during his long life in the public arena.
And by the way, I continue to disagree with everyone who says he doesn’t know what he’s doing and merely recites the words of others. I have long said that although it’s very clear that Joe Biden is very cognitively challenged compared to just a few years ago, he still has plenty of agency and his brain is not so far gone that he’s unaware. Plus, he was Obama’s VP from 2009 to 2017, in full possession of whatever were his native faculties, and he did Obama’s bidding on this and on just about every other topic.
So this is not some recent thing nor is it the result of his age-related cognitive problems. It’s a result of who he is: a corrupt and ambitious viper – or weasel, if you prefer – who would sell out anyone for a dime or for career advancement.
Which brings us to a famous exchange from A Man For All Seasons. No, it’s not the one I often post here, about “cutting down” the laws. It’s this one:
That’s where I got the idea for the title of this post. Biden has betrayed Israel, the Jews, the US, the West, and Congress to win the presidency (he thinks) by winning the votes of the Muslims in Michigan who would dearly love to see Israel and the Jews destroyed, and the US and the West in their current forms as well.
But as I already wrote, this is nothing new for Biden; he earlier acquiesced to Obama’s anti-Israel and pro-Iran and anti-American policies and has been intent on implementing them in his own presidency. And yes, he’s got a lot of help and advice from both Obama and major players in the State Department and in both administrations. But I don’t let Joe off the hook; not at all.
Here’s a good summary [hat tip: commenter “sdferr”) of just how pernicious Biden’s current position on Israel/Hamas is. You might call his policy “stupid” also – and it is – but Biden and company are both knaves and fools. Some excerpts:
Biden says he wants a hostages-for-prisoners deal/ceasefire. But by pressuring Israel he emboldens Hamas to make unrealistic demands.
Biden says he wants a two-state solution with a “revitalized”Palestinian Authority (PA) in charge of Gaza. But by saving Hamas he ensures it will block Fatah (the ruling party in the PA) from gaining a foothold in Gaza. …
Biden says he wants to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip but by precluding a ceasefire deal and emboldening Hamas, he prolongs the war and therefore the suffering. …
Biden says he wants to free the hostages (some of whom are Americans) but his strengthening of Hamas’s negotiating hand ensures that Hamas will demand more in return for each hostage — at every step of the way. …
Biden says he wants to stop the Houthi attacks on commercial shipping, but by emboldening Hamas he emboldens the Houthis.
Biden says he wants to end the Israel-Hezbollah war, but his reduced support for Israel emboldens Hezbollah. …
Biden wants Tehran to help prevent a regional war, but by emboldening all elements of the “Resistance Axis,” his policy has the effect of widening the war. …
Biden says he stands against antisemitism, but by, in effect, accusing Israel of inexcusable brutality against innocent woman and children, he places the authority of his office behind the blood libel of the age.
Biden says he wants normalization between Israel and the Saudis, but by weakening Israel he makes it less attractive as a partner. …
… [Biden’s] personalized attacks on PM Netanyahu encourage the opposition to try to bring him down.
I would add that Biden’s betrayal of an ally in a time of great need undermines any remaining faith in America as an ally.
And Biden’s refusal to give Israel wartime aid that Congress has authorized is grounds for impeachment. Remember? And of course Ukraine wasn’t at war back then, nor was the pause permanent (see this):
Pausing congressionally approved weapons to an international ally for domestic political purposes was an impeachable offense 5 years ago. That happened.
They all know it. They all know what's happening. Now pay attention to why it's not being covered that exact same way. https://t.co/nKGbAVg5sq

Interestingly enough, even Newsweek has published an opinion piece claiming that Joe’s refusal to arm Israel at this point is impeachable:
The Biden administration has put a hold on a shipment of military aid to Israel in a nakedly political attempt to win votes in key swing states. Presidents have been impeached for far less.
The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 (ICA) governs the control of funds appropriated by Congress. It was enacted to reassert Congress’ power of the purse and prevent the president from simply substituting their own funding decisions for those of Congress. While it was once an obscure rule on governing spending, the masses may remember it for its brief starring role in the first impeachment of President Donald J. Trump. As the Democrat-led impeachment inquiry report explained:
President Trump ordered the suspension of $391 million in vital military assistance urgently needed by Ukraine, a strategic partner, to resist Russian aggression. Because the aid was appropriated by Congress, on a bipartisan basis, and signed into law by the president, its expenditure was required by law. Acting directly and through his subordinates within the U.S. government, the president withheld from Ukraine this military assistance without any legitimate foreign policy, national security, or anticorruption justification. The president did so despite the longstanding bipartisan support of Congress, uniform support across federal departments and agencies for the provision to Ukraine of the military assistance, and his obligations under the Impoundment Control Act.
And of course, as I already said, the Ukraine war hadn’t started (although there had been ongoing hostilities for years) and the pause was quite temporary. Biden’s behavior is far worse.
I doubt he’ll be impeached and if impeached I strongly doubt he’ll be removed – unless the Democrats want to be rid of him. I think many dearly would love to be rid of him if they could swing it, and if they could find a replacement they thought would garner more votes in November. Short of that, Joe’s staying – and doing more and more damage with every passing day.
For Wales Rich, Wales. Not much doubt about Joe and these people.
If a country has any sense they will never ally with us.
Joe may think it will win him Muslim votes, but that’s a drop in the bucket. I think it’s anti Israeli actions, see how universities are anti- Israeli and that’s what Barky’s minions are controlling Joe. Whatever happens Joe and others are to blame.
it rather simpler, the regime wants to do evil, thats why they installed Biden, why they made such a fuss about Khashoggi, is his funeral over yet, remember Khashoggi was a like mind with Malley, who was certainly the head of at least one of the spy rings for Qatar for Iran for Turkey, it doesn’t really matter,
meanwhile we have given the Taliban about 17 billion in aid of one kind or another since 2021, at the same time we cut off arms to israel, we ship other to Qatar,

One who wishes to argue that Decent Joe, fully in charge of his profound intellectual abilities as he authors a wide array of sophisticated policies, with long-lasting value and utility in every realm and for every American, is doing all this MERELY for the votes it may gain him in the upcoming election, is doing this great president—one of the greatest in US history, some have said—a hyuge disservice.
Would a person like Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. stoop to such miserable, mean and mercenary methods.
NO, NO and NO! A thousand times NO.
And SHAME on anyone who might harbor the thought.
NO!
It’s the PRINCIPLE of the thing….
And nothing less.

Excellent post, neo. A white-hot stemwinder. Excellent.
While it’s clear the masks and gloves are coming off on every side, I find myself recurring to a question which I had set aside in late Dec./Jan. timeframe: namely, why is Ismail Haniyah still living on the earth? Why Khaled Mashal, likewise?
Set aside, I say, because it was then needful, perhaps, to keep the American traitorship under Biden mollified for such a period as that was possible and useful to do.
Now, however?
Masks off. Gloves off. Make work, and make it quick. Basta!
Thank God, Israel is giving the finger to Biden.
Side note: the number of supporting comments vis Connecticut College and Andrew Pessin continue to grow..some from Israel itself. In the interim the Leftists students have issued their own statement immediately met with derision. In this small sample. I get the feeling that the Democrats are quickly losing the Jews. We’ll see.
Keep in mind that in 2023 the Biden administration unfroze $6 billion in Iranian assets in exchange for five American prisoners while the US would release an unspecified number of Iranian prisoners held by the US.
Another classic hostage deal with Muslim terrorists.
Supposedly the assets will be strictly supervised so none will go to terrorism. But we all know that money is fungible and can effectively be redirected without tripping flags.
The action was controversial. The story is a bit twisty. Apparently the money has been transferred to Qatar banks, but is not yet available to Iran.
Republicans led a “No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act” in December 2023 which passed the House easily but is stalled in the Senate.
Since October 7 Republicans have brought more pressure to bear. My sense is that whenever the current tensions ease, Iran will get the money.
My point, however, is that the Biden administration unfroze that $6 bil before they were worried about the Muslim vote in 2024.

Perhaps there is more than just the Muslim votes in Michigan behind this. Leftist foundations, which are major Democrat donors, are also funding the campus protests. It is clear that Biden will do anything for the money.
“…the Biden administration unfroze that $6 bil before they were worried about the Muslim vote in 2024.”
No surprise there.
As I mentioned above, it’s ALL about the PRINCIPLE. (Though if “he” gets a vote or two out of it, so much the better…)
To be sure, the timing of it is exquisite…

Now that’s a juicy link…that deserves a whole post just by itself.
Deserves a WHOLE BLOG, actually.
(We can call it the “Decent Joe Biden—Firm and Steadfast Friend of the Jews” Blog…)
Does anyone besides me have a problem with the fact that we have a demographic now that demands we betray Jews? I’m not a Jew but I know eventually they’ll get around to me To win Michigan Joe Biden has to cut Hamas a break. It isn’t Hamas who is the problem. My problem. Not just Israel’s.
“If a country has any sense they will never ally with us.”
If we really have an ally’s back (as in, “we will send in the troops if ally gets attacked”), then that country can feel pretty confident about its future. The US is just that powerful compared to everyone else.
Unfortunately for would-be allies, our international priorities tend to swing wildly depending on who is in the White House. A country that we’re solidly backing can suddenly find itself ignored, and even abused if the opposite party wins the next presidential election.
Regarding Iran –
Based on what I’ve heard over the years, there’s a desire in some circles to replace the current US-dominated unipolar system with a multi-polar system of regional powers. Under this system, each region would have a regional power that is responsible for exercising authority over its designated region, and keeping the peace in that region. As nutty as it sounds, Iran is apparently the designated regional power for the Middle East. The Democrats’ obsession with normalizing relations with Iran can be seen as an attempt to bring them into this multi-polar framework.
It does appear, though, that a threshold has been crossed, even if what we’re currently witnessing is THE perfectly natural progression from 2009-2016 (+several weeks into 2017).
That is, if anyone’s been paying the slightest bit of attention…
(Though, in fact, one’s attention may have been distracted by that wondrously effective strategic ploy of inducing venomous, non-stop hatred of DJT. Pretty Smart. Pretty clever. And a great excuse for those who just didn’t quite see the forest for all the trees, eh?)
And so, here we are. Indeed, “Biden” means “Betray”.
(And BBB really means “Betray Back Better”).
And so, “Biden” must destroy the USA.
But to do that “he” must destroy DJT. (At least so he thinks, and it’s rather amazing how many people have been persuaded to agree with “him”…)
Or “he” at least MUST ensure that DJT has NO CHANCE TO SAVE the country as he tried to do during his presidency.
(To be sure, “Biden” MUST CLAIM that DJT is a THREAT to the country. Most of us understand why “he” MUST make that claim.)
Similarly, “Biden” MUST betray Israel. MUST destroy Israel (perhaps because “he” LOVES it so much(!?)…—sorry, couldn’t resist).
But why? WHY?
Well, it’s…it’s…what “he” DOES.
It’s what “MAN OF TRANSFORMATION”, to borrow a phrase from Andrzej Wajda…DOES.
And wouldn’t you know it: Schumer and Jerry Nadler are on-board. Dan Goldman, Bernie Sanders! And hey whaddayaknow? Jamie Raskin, too…
For starters.
(Gosh, how will HISTORY explain THAT??)
But, hmmm. Bari Weiss isn’t thrilled? Too bad.
Robert Kraft is angry? Too bad.
Bill Ackman is disappointed? Heh.
Leslie Wexner, upset? Too, too bad.
Etc.
Might one wonder when they’re going to finally have their “But-we-were-patriotic-we-earned-medals-in-the-Great-War” moment?
Cuz it’s coming.

ChatGPT4 answered: “The percentage of Michigan’s population that identifies as Muslim is estimated to be between 2-3%, based on various studies and surveys. This estimate reflects Michigan’s diverse Muslim community, which is one of the largest in the United States due to significant immigrant and refugee populations from Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African countries, among others.”

Junior, would the number of regions happen to be … ten?
The hubris of our elites, thinking that their small numbers can reliably micromanage a civilization with billions of people without becoming the tyrants they say they are fighting against.
IMO, some of what is driving this is their continual perceived need to “prove” their superiority, that their jaw-jaw diplomacy is always superior to the resolute and decisive confrontation of tyranny … which in their eyes is more evidence that they are worthy of our submission to them in all areas.
Because War is Never The Answer*, y’know.

War is sometimes the answer. It has to be used with discretion because it’s expensive in lives and money. You have to be able to back up your words with your k bar. Or khukr or whatever works for you. It takes effort . There’s a 1942 video about USMC stick and knife fighting available on the Internet. I think everyone should watch it. I hope you never have to use the information. But with Biden buddying up with Hamas the odds that I might or to might need it have increased substantially

Hello Steve (imsorrysteve57)— he writes us, saying “I feel guilty because the Israelis are doing what I trained to do they’re young and I’m old. It should be me.”
Two or three thing worth sharing.
In post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), these feelings are called “survival guilt.” The burden of surviving a brush with death, even if long ago. (Even though approved.) Such a confusing angst!
And now, since October 7, a new war comes along and bites your heart to remind you of an old, possibly invisible and untreated, wound. Or even an unwelcome grand RE-opening of an old wound inside.
Since you were in the Navy, facing lethal violence somewhere, there’s reason to believe that you now need a doctor’s and counsellor’s (and possibly group) attention.
The VA is your first stop. But if you have the change, better help.com can help you online with video meetings. Or else your local social services likely know of a group for surviving veterans (and even the VFW, although my knowledge of what they could do is too dated to know current help…still, veteran’s help veterans. Saving our fellow American’s blood is important — in this case, yours!).
The doctor can prescribe antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication. These can definitely help with painful thoughts and manage difficult impulses.
My time with acute PTSD was in the 1990s. And it was family in origin, not military service.
I believed I was done with all that. But then came the horror of the South Asian tsunami in December (2003?), wiping out up to 150,000 lives in deadly floods, and for about a year I struggled with depression and hyper-reactivity despite happening half way around the world from me.
I learned not to follow the bad news until much later. (The movie, “The Impossible,” dealt with Aussie family on holiday in Thailand when it struck and changed their lives.) I learned to lean on old friends who’d helped me before.
Anyway, survivor guilt is a frequent and unwelcome burden because not everyone survives — and because some die by violence, and even more in wartimes.
In a group, you learn that you are not alone in these struggles. Just as joy shared is multiplied, a burden shared is halved.
Meanwhile, know that this will take time and patience from you. Contact old friends and family if they have a worthy ear to listen to you. Or else in group, find new ones.
You deserve company, given your despair. There are a lot of us out there, “the walking wounded,” and you need to know that you are not alone in your deep dread. Seek pro help, and seek accepting company. Please.
Your misery and wounds are real. To the man you are inside. Now, man up and reach out to others. In person.
Before I close, you can join http://www.meetup.com, free. Online.
I just searched out events for “veterans” there (Phoenix, AZ).
There are in person American Legion Veterans meets, as well as “Veterans Networking: Virtual Edition” for online help.
Your challenge, Steve, can be met. Because you, too, can be helped. And look forward to better days and nights.

An excellent post, Ms. Neo.
Biden is not a good man. He is a base politician, an abuser of power for personal gain, a fair weather friend, and a user of people as evidenced by his manipulation of his son Hunter. The character of Biden has been evident since I was a young man in the 1980’s. He has changed not a whit.

No idea on the number of regions. The only particulars I’ve heard about it involve the claimed plan for the Middle East leadership role and Iran.
