Another ballet palate cleanser
I’ve recently discovered a YouTube channel featuring two sisters, dancers who speak about ballet. They are delightful as well as knowledgeable, in their very early twenties, and I’ve been having a good time watching their videos.
I was going to embed one or two of the video but discovered that embedding is blocked for this particular channel. Drat! So I’ll just post a link to one typical video of theirs; it’s about the ballet Giselle, and the two women explain it in a way that even those unfamiliar with ballet can understand and – I think – appreciate.
I recommend their whole channel, actually. But here’s the one about Giselle. Enjoy!
Wonderful; thanks for sharing
Way off topic here;
but has anyone noticed that those nations insisting that Israel immediately cease military operations in the Gaza Strip have not uttered one word insisting that Hamas surrender immediately and release all the hostages.
Of course, if Hamas surrendered , the fighting would stop and no more civilians would be killed. But apparently making demands of Hamas is, I guess, inappropriate.
Not even our esteemed govt officials, Bidet, Blinken, Jake Sullivan (I would compare them to the Three Stooges, but I don’t wish to insult the Stooges) have the cohones to demand that Hamas surrender.
Speaking of the original Three Stooges – Moe, Larry and Curly – they were the very first comedians to mock and satirize Hitler.
Because they are paying bribes to qatar or iran or both
The muses inspire us out of the grey crazy world
This blog is the one I turn to for in depth analysis on current events. Period. Always heady and intense but it’s important to me to stay as informed as possible. That said, it’s nice to have occasional diversions and the world of ballet is a beautiful one. Also baseball works the same way. (Let’s go Dodgers!)
With limited understanding, I wonder if Hilarion received justice?
Did he act for Giselle’s benefit or for his own?
Was his concern for the welfare of Giselle, or just an act of jealousy?
Is jealousy a deadly sin?
I have been privileged to know and talk with some very great dancers, including Cynthia Gregory and Jacques D’Amboise, and have spent time ‘behind the scenes’ at places like Jacob’s Pillow when I was seeing a dancer — all this decades ago, of course…your insight and your selection of dance to bring to our attention is truly wonderful; a great service of your blog!
