SHIREHOME, since the last one was a nearly dead-on impersonation of Katherine Hepburn and she stated it was a style actresses trained on in the ’40s, I don’t think it’s her real voice.
Really fun to see. I was impressed she did most with nearly identical words. I think it’s easier when you add exposition with local context, like she did with Brooklyn and the Australian outback. A lot of comedic impersonators have catch phrases to help them get into a character but she mostly avoided that. In my opinion, a few were not dead on, but some were excellent. A very talented young woman! Professor Higgins would be proud.
(I’m guessing she is British. But maybe Australian based on the cruel, “dumb Kiwi” bit while doing that accent. Now I’m going to the Internet to see if I’m correct.)
The southern US accents seemed a bit off, but othervise very goot.
I’m seeing almost no articles or commentary on last night’s debate within the general Conserv-o-sphere this morning. I guess that means it’s widely regarded as a non-event. That’s pretty sad for Fox News I suppose, but of little concern to anyone else other than the candidates themselves. Obviously the main reason is that since Trump has such a nigh insurmountable lead the whole affair seems like a pointless exercise.
I think she did pretty well, but curious if she can hold it into general exposition, rather than largely single set of expressions.
Pretty certain this is her, the desc. calls her Amy, and she looks the same.
RE: People’s viewpoints are shifting regarding UFOs
Long time, very experienced, and perceptive UFO researcher Jacques Vallee has come to the conclusion that the “absurd” nature of many elements of the UFO phenomenon points to it actually being a “control mechanism,” one which is creating a “mythology”; we are being conditioned, and our viewpoint and thinking is being pushed in a certain direction.
In addition, if long time UFO researchers like Richard Dolan are correct, world-wide, over the last several decades, there have been cumulatively millions of sightings of UFOs, and some much closer encounters, and these incidents have quite often profoundly effected those experiencing them, changed them in major ways, and redirected the course of their lives.
When you think about it, this is Vallee’s mythology creation in action; an increasing number of us are being pushed in a new direction in our thinking.
Perhaps this explains what seems to be much more wide-spread public attention to and energy behind recent attempts to force the government to disclose what it knows about UFOs, plus the increasing numbers of reputable organizations and scientists–who are ignoring the government created stigma surrounding the UFO Phenomenon and it’s investigation–and are signing up for this search for up until now hidden information.
}}} That’s pretty sad for Fox News I suppose
Fox deserves to tank, after what they did to Tucker, which was preposterously stupid on every level.
Does not matter if you liked TC or not, he was blatantly their biggest draw and had been for literally more than a decade, and they canned him like idiots because Those In Control didn’t like what he said and targeted… Meaning they cared more for pushing an agenda than they did for valid business reasons.
As with dozens of other “woken” businesses, they’ve been tanking their value and done serious damage to the worth of their IP, built up over years, and doing so at a clear cost to their stockholders.
@Nonapod:Obviously the main reason is that since Trump has such a nigh insurmountable lead the whole affair seems like a pointless exercise.
I think that’s part of it. There is no one who follows politics, and would vote in a Republican primary, who DOESN’T know that the GOPe is trying to find ANYONE to run besides Trump, and that people who would vote in a Republican primary mostly would go with Trump.
It goes a little further. I think it goes to show how little credibility the GOP as an organization has with the public. Deserved or not, that appears to be case. I don’t where it leads us, with the GOP changing course and trying to represent the people instead of the donors for a change, or with the GOP going the way of the Whigs.
With the increasing fortification of national elections it may not matter for the Presidency for a long time, in any event.
@OBloodyHell: Meaning they cared more for pushing an agenda than they did for valid business reasons.
If your business model involves pleasing the government, then it WAS a valid business reason. I know from my own experience that a hint from a regulator, even a low level one, produces compliance from any company of any size.
I think too many of us skew old. A lot of us here still talk about “socialism”. It’s not a choice between free enterprise and socialism any more, and hasn’t been for a long time. It’s a choice between crony capitalism and a giant welfare state, vs crony capitalism for a slightly different set of cronies and a more giant welfare state plus indulgence of criminals and crazy people.
Obviously I think one worse than the other, but it’s not much of a choice.

At the beginning, this article seems fairly ho hum. Gov. Katie Hobbs steps down as governor for only a day. But reading the whole thing, it certainly appears to be curious. The author focuses on possibilities within the Dem party, but I wonder if there is something strange within the GOP party. It wouldn’t be the first time.
Even when listening to Amy Walker’s most unintelligible accent – I think it was Scottish – she was more understandable than listening to anything Kamala Harris has ever said or will ever say.
Accents can be useful.
Depending on who I’m talking to I’ll use Kansas City standard (my raised accent) or the local southern Missouri drawl, my comfortable accent of fortyish years.
When I was contracting I always started my conversations with other vendors with my drawl. Smart asses and connivers seem to always see this as = dumb hick. If things went well, I’d keep it up and they never knew. If they were dishonest, when I was about to lay out why my client shouldn’t deal with them, I’d drop to KC accent, lock eyes with them and enjoy their faces.
Fortunately, I never have to use KC anymore.
Has anyone here seen Sasquatch? Former talk show host Michael Medved thinks that it/he is real.
From time to time, people contact me on Conspiracy Day to ask about my interest in Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, the oft-sighted (and cited) bi-pedal primate reputed to stalk the forests of the Pacific Northwest. My fascination with this creature–and my frequently expressed opinion that the weight of scientific evidence suggests that it actually exists– in no way connects with a conspiracy theory. In fact, if Bigfoot didn’t exist, that would indicate the existence of a conspiracy: an enterprising and indefatigable cabal of tireless pranksters who, over the course of more than 100 years, have gone to the trouble of planting footprints, hair samples, audio recordings, and various video and photographic images in exceedingly remote locations.
Sure, there have been some goof-balls who have attempted to con the public, but they are regularly exposed as frauds by the good people at BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization). The best book (of a half dozen) on the evidence of this beast is by my friendly acquaintance Professor Jeff Meldrum, a tenured academic at Idaho State University with impeccable credentials. His book, SASQUATCH: LEGEND MEETS SCIENCE, should at least open some minds to the possibility that we will, eventually, find definitive proof that all the tens of thousands who’ve encountered this mysterious species aren’t imagining things. In any event, such a discovery would, in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s phrase, “bring us face to face with something commensurate to our capacity for wonder.”
I commented first then watched. She skipped over a slew of mid-American accents besides the two I mentioned above.
Oligonicella,
I noticed she skipped over mid-American accents also, as well as only one north eastern and two southern. A lot of variety in those regions. My guess is mid-American are hard to do AND they are somewhat bland, so even if one does one the listener can’t really key on anything.
Listening to Jamie Raskin (son of left-wing mainstay Marcus Raskin) lying about how the Biden scandal has been “discredited” makes me wonder, was the 60s/70s/80s left already this Leninist, or did they actually believe that they were telling “Truth to Power”?
Jordan Rivers,
I don’t see how one gets around the lack of remains problem. An animal that large with that wide of a range would leave carcasses, skeletal remains.
From Allen West, a concise summary of our predicament:
Cowards and Communists
Americans are stuck between two opposing, dangerous factions.
I was particularly impressed by Senator Moynihan’s feeling of personal responsibility for the homeless people resulting from his support of closing the mental hospitals.
Life is full of choices. They could tone it down, or let it all hang out and show us what our tax dollars are supporting. I’d rather know, so I appreciate the heads up.
Re: Amy Walker
I’ll bet she can read the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet)!
As I understand it, French has 6 vowel sounds and 3 consonant sounds we don’t have in English.
It’s hard for English speakers to make those sounds. It’s hard for us to even hear them properly.
Tricky stuff.
Last week I was gratified when my French tutor in Brittany said my accent was pas mal — not bad.
A fine comp0iment.
Hello. I’m a little puzzled by the Marionette’s parading in the picket line the other day. Is that the first time that a president has openly taken a side in a major labor dispute, or no?
Also, I decided that I need to keep up with huxley, so I started taking basic Korean last week.
The California accent was unrealistic, she didn’t “LIKE” every other word.
Boned Loser:
‘Vlad is fighting Nazis in that psuedo-country Ukraine.’ Is that your talking point for today?

Very talented. Is the last one her real voice?
More talent than the GOP 7
Hope everyone caught the real debate last night, if not:
