  1. Frederick et alia engaged with discussions of boycotts…

AB-Inbev is down almost 14% from its high just prior to their female impersonator/”influencer” gambit gaining mass public exposure. That’s about $15Bn off their market cap. Billion with a “B.” It’s a PR disaster and, more importantly, a financial disaster.

We are now seeing a lot of other major corporations have spent the last 11 months gearing up for Pride Month marketing campaigns. Things like that take months to plan and roll out. Target is a perfect example that they cannot be easily changed or undone once rolled out.

Target shares are down 17% and the media is full of stories of Target stores scrambling to rearrange displays to less prominent locations.

    We definitely have their attention.

As Andrew Klavan has stated, “The problem with Gay Pride isn’t the ‘gay’ part, it’s the ‘pride’ part.”

  2. Regarding neo’s post,

I think “Fantasia” was a great concept by Disney! Ambitious, clever and fun.

Italian film maker Bruno Bozzetto did a sort-of spoof of it in 1976 that is worth the time of anyone who enjoys animation and Disney’s, “Fantasia.” You can find clips of it (and the whole film, I think) on YouTube. Below is an excerpt from the wikipedia entry, for anyone interested in learning more.

Allegro non troppo is a 1976 Italian animated film directed by Bruno Bozzetto. Featuring six pieces of classical music, the film is a parody of Walt Disney’s 1940 feature film, Fantasia, two of its segments being derived from the earlier film. The classical pieces are set to color animation, ranging from comedy to deep tragedy.

At the beginning, in between the animation, and at the end, there are black and white live-action sequences, displaying the fictional animator, orchestra, conductor and filmmaker, with many humorous scenes about the fictional production of the film. Some of these sections mix animation and live action.

The film was released in two versions. The first includes live action sequences in between the classical pieces; the second version of the film omits these, replacing them with animated Plasticine letters spelling out the title of the next piece of music.

While Allegro Non Troppo spoofs its source, The Walt Disney Company has been positively receptive towards the film. Disney veteran Ward Kimball would recommend the Boléro segment to his animation students, and the Walt Disney Family Museum held an exhibit on Bruno Bozzetto; featuring his work on the film.

  3. RTF–

Target stores in Utah, Ohio, and Pennsylvania received bomb threats related to the company’s Pride collection.

And “An email was sent to Cleveland 19 News on Friday threatening five stores in Ohio’s Jackson Township, Boardman, Stow, Niles, and Monaca, Pennsylvania. The email referenced what it called Target catering to the wants of ‘homophobic right wing redneck bigots.'” I dunno what the sender of the email meant about “catering to the wants of . . . bigots”– maybe the email is a false (rainbow) flag operation?

In regard to Target’s shares, “The retailer’s shares slipped another 1.22% on Friday, which added to the total 12.6% lost during the first week of the collection’s availability, according to Dow Jones Market Data Group. Total losses are calculated to be $9.3 billion in market value.”

And it’s still May: June is gonna be bustin’ out all over, at the rate things are heating up.

  4. Back when Walt was alive they did great things. Then, gradually, they ran out of the capital he amassed.

  5. disney did recover the majesty and the terror of european folklore, thats why there was a defamation campaign against his person in the 90s, with the likes of marc elliot,

  6. To confess how ignorant I am, I think of that tune as “Hello Mudder, hello Fadder,” and I had no idea it came from La Gioconda.

  7. RTF,

Glenn Beck has some interesting things to say, though mkent is pissed I even suggested this due to youtube commercials…sigh…

Re: Disney….it did go through a creative slump late 70s to late 80s, but went through what is called the Disney Renaissance starting with The Little Mermaid under Eisner. That ended somewhat with Iger who was more interested in expanding the empire (ESPN, ABC, China park, Lucasfilm) than sticking to what Disney did best. Ironic that TLM now being live action released this weekend. I love the comments on Ariel’s “diverse” sisters in the remake…her father must have been “getting around a lot”!

  8. iger came from paramount, where he had a stream of hits, then he went to the darkside,

  9. According to a Youtube blogger about China who I follow, handle serepentza, China is “the land of short-cuts and facades.”

Here is a very interesting video from serpentza, describing and showing some of China’s phony environmentalism–as, among other things, they paint barren land and rocks green, cover barren hills with rolls of green plastic vegetation, take measures to fool satellites into making them see crops in fields which are actually covered with rocks, and local authorities try to to defeat environmental sensors, etc.

    See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AynNsPs9i80

  10. If you do not show up to shop at target, target is not aware of your protest. A loosely organized protest such as filling a shopping cart and then abandoning it in the store, or doing the same online would attract attention if a million people did it.

Naturally, a normal sign carrying protest outside the stores would naturally result in protesters attacked and beaten by the left, and then arrested for disturbing the peace.

  11. Great article about a mother, Erin Friday, who fought back when the school system in California convinced her daughter that she was transgender. Her struggle was harrowing.
    (https://www.theepochtimes.com/california-mom-reclaims-young-daughter-from-clutches-of-trans-agenda-in-middle-school-heres-how_5274490.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=TheLibertyDaily)

Many great insights in the article including this one

Transgenderism is not only a cult but a cash fountain for Big Pharma that reaps lifelong patients in the form of gender-transitioning children.
“This is a $11 billion industry,” Friday said. “It’s a multi-headed hydra. There are people who are pushing this for financial gain; the medical community and the Big Pharma are pushing this because each trans-identified child is worth a million to a million-and-a-half dollars. They are lifelong medical patients.”

  12. Kate,

    Very happy to hear that!
A creator can do whatever he or she wants with his or her work, but he or she should not be forced into edits by others.

“Clayton did five other videos along this line. I was looking for the credits on the simple, haunting piano soundtrack, but lost patience trying to find it.”

I’ve been back-filling the reading I missed this past month, and recognized the song instantly. A simplified version of it is in the LDS Children’s Songbook, which I have played many times, as it fits my limited skill set on the piano.

The title is “To a Wild Rose” by Edward MacDowell.
One audio is here. However, I like the interpretation at Neo’s link better.

The score can be obtained here; you can print it free, but will get better quality with a subscription.

Edward Alexander MacDowell (December 18, 1860 – January 23, 1908) was an American composer and pianist of the Romantic period. He was best known for his second piano concerto and his piano suites Woodland Sketches, Sea Pieces, and New England Idylls. Woodland Sketches includes his most popular short piece, To a Wild Rose.

  17. This is just my personal feelings, but-

Is anyone else 100% tired of the “political battle” between the Disney company, and Governor Desantis (sp?)?

I’m not going to take sides on this issue, but- I guess the ‘feud’ between Disney’s people + Gov. Desantis’ people started when [Disney stated that they didn’t like the Governor’s “don’t say gay” bill, + then Desantis decided to publicly react to that.

Now, both sides are suing each other, with several lawsuits.

To me- either party could have just taken the high road, and just dropped the matter.

The Disney co., in Florida, is mostly about: hotels, food service, + entertainment, and kids’ entertainment as well…why Disney’s “image” had to go political is very odd.

This all looks very dumb and childish.

I wonder if a lot of homes’ “Santa Claus” will [not] bring Disney toys to the kids, because of political positions by Disney and the Governor.

This may be stern for me to say, but- I was hoping that these two parties would [act like adults , and let this ‘feud’ go], so that kids could enjoy the fun things that [The House of Mouse]-company provided.
    This is a poor situation.

  20. TR:

Sad that culture wars have to be fought.

It’s not a small world after all when you are after the children.

  21. walker might as well be a hawaiian judge, he gets every point of law wrong,

  22. om:

    Exactly.

My disappointment in this matter is:
that the Disney company/people didn’t do us a favor, and [by keeping their silly selves out of the political realm].

To my knowledge- Warner Brothers’ [kids cartoons], + Sesame Street…in the 20th century, did a very good business [without] putting political messages in their products and shows.
Why can’t the Disney co. do the same?

In my world: politicos are politicos,…and entertainers are entertainers, and people should be [only] one or the other.

It’s a nice hope of mine, I suppose.

  23. And it looks like North Dakota is in grave danger of becoming a terrorist state… (or at least of BEING DEFINED AS a terrorist state…)
“North Dakota parents rage at school board for defying law on kids’ gender identities: ‘Whose kids are these?’ “—

    Call out the National Guard!!
Scratch that. Call out the FBI!!!
Oh, and the IRS for additional oomph.

  24. And in the latest “Follow-Da-Science” News!
“Under Pressure From Fat Activists, NYC Bans Weight Discrimination”—

    That’s right!
    Fat is OK.
    Fat is GOOD.
    Fat is HEALTHY!
    Fat is BEEYOODIFUL!!
So…suck it up, Mayor Bloomberg! BIG GULP is BACK (with a vengeance!)—Trump’s fault, no doubt….

File under: Please, PLEASE…don’t tread on me…
Woopsie. Making fun of fat people is now a hate crime, racist—sorry, fattist—a felony that no doubt DA BRAGG will fully pursue to the full extent of da law! You have been WARNED!!

  25. @Wendy’s “Hello Mudder, Hello Fadder” comment is one I also thought of. Over the weekend, my daughter and her son Ondrej, my grandson, had fun going to a mini-zoo near the Devin Castle (where she had previously worked in the falconry care).
We saw a few emus, smaller but similar to the ostriches. There had been a small ostrich steak boom maybe 10 years ago, but I don’t see them on the menus anymore. One of the most interesting sights for our 15 month-old was … the yellow-black lawnmower parked under the baby owls. There were also a couple of two-wheel pre-bike toys he liked, a bit more than most of the animals his mother was so interested in.

Crime is a problem; promiscuity leading to single parenthood is a problem; obesity is a problem.

We need more shame for bad behavior: criminals, sluts (& slut-jerks? slut-cads? slut-womanizers? we don’t have a good shame word for male sluts), fat obese folk who choose to eat to much while also choosing to exercise too little.

We’ll have fewer problems caused by bad behavior, with less bad behavior – which is reduced with more shaming & other small punishments.

  26. @ Tom Grey > “fat obese folk who choose to eat to much while also choosing to exercise too little.”

Being as I resemble that remark (as I sit here eating my holiday chocolates), I don’t think shaming will do much to solve the problem.

However, there is a vicious hatred of us plus-sized folks in the Left’s encouragement and even celebration of being fat, because it is not healthy, and it is not beautiful, and it can be deadly.

As with everything the Left promotes, the opposite is a better choice.

  27. That said, I agree with the rest of your comment.
“We’ll have fewer problems caused by bad behavior, with less bad behavior – which is reduced with more shaming & other small punishments.”
People used to understand that, which implies that the Left is going the other direction with malice aforethought.

Here is a good example of Tom’s recommendation (as noted in the replies to the tweet).
I don’t often recommend Twitter, but when I do, it’s worth the click.

    https://notthebee.com/article/these-climate-crazies-crashed-a-swedish-dance-show-and-got-instant-justice-from-the-camera-guy-

The dance routine itself was okay, if you like that style — the best part is that they didn’t stop for the disruption!

    https://www.masterclass.com/articles/paso-doble-dance-explained
“The paso doble, or pasodoble, is a Latin ballroom dance. “Paso doble” may have originated in either France or Spain—the term “paso doble” means “double step” or “two-step” in Spanish—as the briskly paced paso doble music accompanied the fast steps of a military march in both countries. The dance also has connections to bullfighting: Fast-paced paso doble music originally served as an introductory theme for Spanish bullfighters entering the ring. The movements of the matador and the bull inspired the dance, according to Spanish legend.

In Europe, Canada, and Asia, paso doble is a social dance, but its complicated choreography makes it better suited as a competitive dance form. It’s one of the five international Latin dances performed at dance competitions worldwide, along with the jive, rumba, samba, and cha-cha-cha.”
