All of you who think Romney’s bland and robotic…
…need to pay attention to the startling revelation that Romney likes olives on his Hawaiian pizza.
That combo may be disgusting, but it’s certainly not dull.
Oh, and he’s leading in New Hampshire. But that’s no surprise.
“The rich are different than you and me.”
Agree: not dull. More, please. Much more.
Also, in the realm of Romney revealing warmth and humanity, I repeat my offbeat assertion: one “spontaneous” skinny dip swim, with an Iowa Bible Study class, would ensure Romney’s nomination. I know it sounds crazy, yet, somehow or some way, Romney needs to reveal warmth and humanity. He needs to make himself vulnerable. You cannot trust a person who protects themself from every direction. Romney needs to voluntarily show us where he is vulnerable. It is what a typical and genuine human being does. He would, then, be offering us opportunity to trust him.
I happen to think Romney is a pretty normal and likable guy. It’s the perception of his wealth and chosen profession that gets in the way of people seeing it.
Actually olives sound good. Black thou, not green.
Olives or not, I’m sticking with Newt. We’ll see what tomorrow brings, but Newt is still the man for me.
Pizza Hawaii is a real turnoff. I’ll take the olives with anchovies, peperoni, and other Mediterranean stuff. I’m hope he doesn’t interpret CiC as Chef in Chief. On the other hand, it’s good that he doesn’t try to impress us with wagyu beef.
Maybe Ann should share with us Mitt’s favorite birthday menu.
Come to where I am now or share breakfast w my wife, she has had combinations like baked beans omlette.
Now for something odd u can have fruit for breakfast, like rambutan, or what I had wiche cam best be described as a durien lychee young cocoanut smoothie w rose syrup. If u can handle durien it’s not bad. (durien is similar to jackfruit on the outside, but it’s an experience is hard to describe for those who have not experienced it. Andrew Simmons in the show where he eats strange foods can’t hack it. Kind of has the texture between custard and phlem, with a smell that some think akin to sweaty gym socks. Some hotels won’t let u eat it on premises)
rom is an empty suit puppet
Fodvot to mention where I am
I am now in surakarta (solo) indonesia after passing through sarangen. Later we will be in pacetan and will be in Surabaya for Xmas. Santa and Xmas songs are playing in the malls and lots of veils and not.
In case I forget
Selamat natal and tabun baru!!!
No war on Xmas here…
Rom also things the constitution can force one to buy health insurance but as a state power not fed
dictators variational themes really don’t matter to th base substance of using the power of a gun to compelle others to act against their will or own interest
it matters little if they have cool uniforms big parades or wear suits or even tourist type clothing they all share a false benevolence and pit brother against sister and reap power from sowing misery and discord
Waltj too bad I didn’t hear from u. I could have bought u a bintang over some bakar ayam or sate!!
Who really remembers Weiner, now. Or even Cain. By the time the main election rolls around, all the gain the Lame Media thinks it has attained through the Republican series, will be nothing. No matter who the nominee is, there’s a chance either way.
But, under the radar, the establishment shakes and plots. The beauty of the American experience is that the establishment has always been restrained by the Constitution. Lose the respect and knowledge and understanding of the Constitution, and we will lose our prosperity and liberty.
Consider the enormous outrage that should have occurred and did not occur over the opposition to the reading of the Constitution upon the beginning of the Congress of 2010. What could be wrong with our representatives reading our founding document? That there could have been such a resistance means only that many people are lacking the essential merits of citizen education and knowledge. They have been stupified, deceived and bought. But there is hope. The blind leading the blind. Soon they will fall into a ditch.
“Lose the respect and knowledge and understanding of the Constitution, and we will lose our prosperity and liberty.”
Respect for the limitations imposed on the federal government by the Constitution was lost many moons ago. We do not currently live under the rule of law, we live under the rule of corruption where bread and circuses buy the votes of those who actually seek (unknowingly) comfortable serfdom. That is the core issue of our present struggle. People at neo-neocon and other like minded folks want to return to the rule of law as set forth in the Constitution. The hardcore left want their version of totalitarian utopia. The vast middle want comfortable serfdom.
“It’s the perception of his wealth and chosen profession that gets in the way of people seeing it.”
You’re correct to note that resentment of wealth is a big obstacle for Romney. That is a sorry sign of the times. To resent someone because they have achieved wealth and rant and rage that their wealth should be ‘redistributed’ is to covet. IMO, the 10th commandment, much like the 10th amendment, is crucial to a civil society; for the greatest evil is to covet. From Auschwitz to the Soviet Gulag to the Cultural Revolution to the Killing Fields of Cambodia to Occupy Wall Street we see the track record of what results from coveting. Namely, war, torture, death, and destruction.
Arfldgr, durien sounds like the Indionesian version of poi. From your description, (barf!) I will steer clear if ever offered. Thanks for the warning.
I watched Romney’s interview on O’Reilly and found it pretty good. He discussed his wife’s health problems, (she has MS) and his deep devotion to her was quite plain.
I have known several Mormons who are much like Romney. They are trying very hard to do the right thing here on this mortal coil. As a result they have learned to exert a lot of self control over their emotions. This comes off to many people as being stiff, square, or too uptight. One thing I’m pretty sure of if he is elected – no sexual adventurism in the Oval office. Hawaiian pizza with olives is about as exciting as his personal life will get.
He’s a truly good person. My question about him is: Can he be ruthless when he needs to be as C-in-C? It’s possible to be too nice to be C-in-C. Newt has that streak of ruthlessness. His problem is can he be moral enough? Well, we’ll soon know what the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire think.
Prior to the covenant of law there was the covenant of Noah then Abraham. Moses gave the covenant of law because that is what was asked for. Under that covenant no one made it to heaven for all men fall short. Even gods most favored cheated with Bathsheba and so all failed. That was why god made the covenant of the Christ. Also known as the covenant of grace. If the covenant of Noah worked there would be no covenant of abrham. The covenant of Abraham was pure grace and why no one seemed to die with lives over for hundred years old. But it was not sufficient either. For after the isrealites were delivered from pharoah, they lost sight of god and so came the law. Remember Passover? The blood of the lambs prevented the deaths of the first born and the angle of death passed over. The whole point of the sacrifice of Jesus, the lamb of god was to create the same Passover for all men. The lamb of god Elohim was sacrificed and the blood of Christ removed the angle of death.
Think deeply on that for a bit and realize the old testament is there to teach you, to testify that no man by himself is great enough to enter the kingdom of heaven on their own. No amount of good works is enough. Nothing is but the grace of the Christ which is freely given unto u for the asking. Or not if u don’t want it. Most of what we think in christianity is a farce for we forget the relationship is one of father and children. U don’t want gods help, fine he stands aside, u want it then u get it. Why would a real father do anything else? There is no character building in suffering or in poverty. A father would want all his children to live well and work hard and freely share his blessings. This is the message that they all endeavor to warp or change or replace. For it’s also the core of capitalism where one is to increase the wealth of talents one has and share it. Ergo America confusing the world by sharing it’s money, wealth, knowledge, and more. This is the message of Christmas we forgot. And in that sharing one receives more bounty to share for then one becomes blessed, and blesses others, and increases the bounty. When profit is taken by the state, what is taken is the bounty and blessings one is to share!
I have seen this across time and continents and people. It is active in my life from the story of two friends, one whose parents did not want her to marry. The other friend gave them refuge and they were wedded. They became very wealthy and successful, and shared their wealth and it increases much more. They then paid for the friends daughter to go to college and get a degree and travel the world. She worked in a deli in ny.
On the other side I had a really bad time and became homeless, but a wealthy woman online stepped forward and loaned me nearly 10k to find a home. I had lost my friends, my family, my career, my son, and some how it was all ok.
I ended up in a job I have had for almost a decade and lived in that home longer when I met that girl in the deli and I married her. Her parents are bhuddist, she is Christian, and we traveled to Indonesia. Right now my father is dying of cancer and my family is almost gone, but here I have a new family who treat me so specially. So we travelled again to share the blessings of a wedding of the sister and dropped off to meet this woman who provided to my wife. To her I gave an opal I cut myself and met her son. He and I hit it off instantly for we share the same attitude of sharing gods bounty and seeing the chain of blessings. After we celebrate the birth of Christ, we will go stay in their home as he likes my work and wants to share his. I don’t know what will happen but I do know that I will be delivered from a bad turn where I am now and hopefully will have more to share.
I have been sharing my knowledge and memory here and this is why I do not care if I am liked or popular here or such.
I am sharing all I have even when down and in a bad way and it all works out.
And that’s all the preaching you get from me!!
For if the life u have is not enough of a blessing for you to have faith, nothing I say will change that. In whatever way u face the infinite and existence god is with u beside u and doing what u want, even if that is to be left alone. In law no one goes to heaven in grace freely given no one goes to Hell. Who doesn’t ask for it.
Merry Christmas to all and may love and blessings shine upon u and your own. You are alive and have already been given the greatest blessing one could have.
I hate iPod spell correction for now there is an angle of death and other crapper (crapped) on corrections! 🙂
I’ve never smelled or tasted durien, but I know several people who have, including one from Thailand who says it is her favorite fruit. The most memorable description I’ve read or heard of it, though, is that it is “like eating custard in a sewer.”
As far as Romney, his blandness doesn’t really worry me. I just hope that if he is the nominee he won’t be afraid to hit hard against Obama and to call the last few years the disaster that they truly have been.
Merry Christmas, Art!
Artfldgr, thanks for sharing your beliefs. May God continue to guide you and let you walk in Grace.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Wasn’t Hawaiian pizza a product of the counter-culture? What meaning can be derived from the knowledge that Romney likes to have his pizza decorated with pineapple, ham, and olives (gasp!) — rather than the more traditional pepperoni, mushrooms and onions?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/05/top-10-pizza-toppings_n_996388.html
The suits and ties he’s been wearing for 50 years may be a facade to conceal the fact that Willard is secretly a repressed counter-culture hippie.
Scott: or that his tastebuds have atrophied.
I like to think of his pizza choices as expressing his inner rebel, though.
I watched on C-Span a few minutes of a Romney NH campaign stop. Despite his pizza preferences, he’s still a robot. He seemed tight an uncomfortable even as people came up to him, saying, “we voted for you in Massachusetts and we will vote for you here.”
A good salesman never betrays that he’s faking it. Perhaps Romney is sincerely uncomfortable with the common man? Is that a good sincerity?
But really, he is not a robot. Robots don’t get pissy when somebody badgers them. And in that petulance, I see Romney’s potential to push the red button. Or to order domestic detentions and sign Bills of Attainder (by whatever new name Obama’s lawyers have crafted for them).
Wonder if Mitt shared a pineapple burrito with those Mexican gardeners…
